My 2008 Smart car needed new tires & after calling 4 different well known tire shops Big O Tires was the only place that told me they could find my low profile tire to fit my 17" rims. David was so cheerful over the phone keeping me informed when the tires would be available and that they would be done that same day (Friday 13th) Since one tire was completely flat I had my car towed to Big O. But unfortunately just as the towing truck turned into their driveway the straps broke around the front tires & my car rolled off the towing trolley, damaging the front spoiler, left front wheel well and rocker panel. This unfortunate event delayed my tire installation, but what may have been a nightmare was handled professionally by David and Oz and their entire team. They gave me four awesome new Yokohama tires, within my budget, installed & road tested with constant communication throughout the entire process. Five star customer service like I received from David (who stayed later than his usual shift), Oz, Ian and the entire staff at the Costa Mesa location is what every successful business strives to deliver. The service technician Juan made my day today. After a week of mechanical mishaps with washer dryers etc. I finished the week off with a flat on Sunday morning. I took the wrecked wheel in to Big O today and they fixed it fast - and then addressed a pressure problem on another tire (this car is six months old, so maybe it's me). But to top off the great service, Juan told me there was no charge - just to come back when I needed new tires or send my friends. Well I'm in tell everybody mode now - great store, great service - and even the quoted price on the phone before I went in was 6 bucks cheaper than Discount Tire Center around the corner. read more

I took my car in because the tire pressure light came on. I know nothing about tires so just thought it was low on pressure. Turns out there was a huge nail in my rear, right tire. They patched it up free of charge and it only took them 20 minutes and they were busy. read more

These guys are very friendly and helpful. They fixed a patch in my tire and didn't even charge me. The guy at the counter was very nice and they could've easily charged me for a new tire instead of a free patch. I'll be going back when I do need new tires. read more

Went in on a Saturday morning and asked for my tires to be rotated and aligned on my jeep. One employee was extremely nice and helpful (was bald). The other employee who handled my payment was unbelievably rude, I didn't end up getting a rotation from them and he blamed me for not asking. He was also very pushy on running maintenance checks on my car, it was to the point where he was scoffing at me because I didn't want to sign up for there alignment package. I picked up a bolt in my right front tire on they way to visit a friend in Newport Beach, I did stop by his house, he recommended Big O Tires which was nearby. I got there around 5:30 (they close at 6pm). After looking at my tire and my spare, it was decided the best option was to repair my tire. They did and finished right before closing. I was on my way to the mall enjoying a beautiful day and decided to open my sunroof but to my horror it wouldn't close completely!!! I worried about it raining, which of course it didn't, and leaving my car unattended while at work. On a whim and out of desperation I called Big O who told me to stop by and they would look at it. Upon arrival I met my hero, David, who quickly figured out that a part had come loose and was causing a jam. Once he removed the part my sunroof closed properly. I had a 10am appointment and I arrived on time. They had called me twice in the last two days to confirm. My car rolled in to the bay at 11:27 and wasn't finished until 12:10. The bay mechanic commented to me that he "rushed it" so it could be done before his crew went to lunch. The manager apologized for "circumstances beyond his control" although as near as I could tell nothing out of the ordinary seemed to be at play here. Poorly run shop. Never again. read more

I have been going to Big O Tires Costa Mesa store on 17th since I arrived here in CA. two (2) years ago. I drove directly from Texas here and Big O Tires was my first stop on my diect drive. They helped me by checking everythin.....the cost was free. They men there are all experienced and compassionet. When I go to them, being I have an older vichele 89" Buick, they avice me when and when not to spend my money on repairs. I recommend anyone to trust is store for fair and helpful advice. I do not spend time thinking about what it costs...I trust them at Big O Tires to advise me to my interests......that is saving my money! very disappointing!!!!! took my car in for new breaks for the first time on a 4 year old car. My previous set had lasted 60,000 miles. the set that big o tires put on only lasted 10,000 miles before they made horrible squeaking noises!!! what a waste of time and money!!! they used poor quality material or they were put on incorrectly and the pads over heated and cracked my rotors (which should last a long time). Now not only do i need new breaks but new rotors as well!! Although big O offered to replace the break pads for me, i am still left with rotors that are damaged and need to be replaced. I wanted my money back so that i could have the job done correctly elsewhere and they refused. Horrible customer service. i would NOT every recommend taking your car here!!!! read more

This is the worst place to go for your tires. After everything I left here crying after the guy at the front said it would take 20 mins to change my one tire then when I came back my car was still up and he had all my tires circled and marked up on a 2014 Mercedes and kept showing me microscopic things that I never could see. So I agreed to one more tire being replaced and he said about 15 more mins. 30 mins later my car was still up and he said to come out again and that uh oh if I don't replace a third tire I would be driving in a death trap. I told him just please bring my car down and I did not see any of what he was talking about. I drive a 2014 Mercedes and tires were not old there was one that had a nail in it that was not repairable that's it. Also I was quoted $276 , I asked if that included tax and he said yes. In the end I paid $420 with all the disposable fee and and honestly I am so upset and feel completely RIPPED OFF! It was a SCARE SALES Tactic and I left in tears..one cus I was headed to vegas and couldn't afford to replace all these tires an 2 because they had me scared out of my wits and I left with the yuckiest feeling after dealing with the sales guy at the front. NEVER go here! The worst automotive business in the industry. The staff is completely uneducated, unfriendly, not truthful, pretty much looking to rip of every customer that walks through the door. I brought in my 97 dodge dakota here after i was experiencing issues with my vehicle backfiring. I was quoted 3,000-4,000$ on a complete engine rebuild. I was told my a cylinder head was busted basically deeming my truck totaled which i had for less than a year. I was laughed at after suggesting that this seemed a bit extreme and maybe it was something else that was wrong. I ended up taking my truck to Leons transmission which i was told by a friend had a great staff, which they do. They took a look at my truck, fired it up and within 3 minutes told me what the problem was. I needed i new catalytic converter, and any halfway decent mechanic should have known this (a very common issue with my model truck). 200 dollars later my truck is running better than ever, i have logged more than 12,000 miles since and still perfect. So don't listen to the lies they try to feed you at big o tires, you'll be happy you didn't. I can't convey the hatred i have for big o tires more. Please to not let them turn you into there next victim. read more

I had a typical oil change done and Big O recommended a serpetine belt replacement. I chose not to replace the belt and low and behold the belt snapped that day. A coincidence? Maybe not?? They wanted to charge me $70.00 for the belt and $150-180+ for labor (couldn't be sure). I bought the belt from PEP Boys for $34.00 and my husband installed it for FREE with no tools in 5 minutes, Then he noticed the engine (oil) dipstick missing. I called Big O the next day and needless to say it has become the blame game. I called them 5 times total and each time they brushed me off. 1st time they told me to bring it back in (I did), and they said they would order the dipstick. 2nd/3rd time they said they would order a new stick and 4th/5th time they never called me back. I would caution you going to this place. The manager was very unprofessional and considering that a new dipstick would have set back Big O only $28.00, you would have thought all the years (4 years) with 3 cars taken in for oil changes/tire rotations/brake changes, they threw it all away for a $28.00 dipstick. It should be BIG O's guarantee to make the customer happy! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THEM AGAIN! I have been going there for at least 4 years and they have gone through many, many managers. Big-O on 17th Street in Costa Mesa installed new front disc brake pads and machined the rotors. Six months later my dashboard brake light went on, and I took my car to the same Big-O for an inspection. I was told that the rear brake cylinders were leaking and needed to be replaced. When I picked up the car I noticed a clanking sound when I applied the brakes. So I took the car back to Big-O. They kept the car for a day, but couldn't figure out the cause of the clanking. When I picked up the car, in addition to the clanking sound, the front end was vibrating so severely when the brakes were applied that I was afraid to drive the car. I then took the car to Chevy dealership. The clanking sound was the anti-lock braking system being activated by a damaged tone ring on one of the front axles. The vibration was caused by damaged rotors and bad front brake pads that Big-O had replaced seven months (6000 miles) earlier. The cost of replacing the damaged front axle, replacing the bad rotors and replacing the bad front brake pads was over $1000. Perhaps all of the front-end damage that occurred while my car was in the possession of Big-O, for rear brake cylinder replacement was coincidental. If you believe that, then by all means take your car to Big-O on 17th Street in Costa Mesa for service. One final thing, to add insult to injury, I subsequently called several other Big-O centers in Costa Mesa and was quoted half the price that I was charged by Big-O on 17th Street to replace the rear brake cylinders. read more

This location is the worst. It seems to be a reject place for used car salesmen (especially Rick L). He can come up with lots of reasons that your tire shouldn't be covered under warranty, and Rick basically accused My husband and I of lying and insisted that we ran something over, but "CLAIMED" he would give a discount (crook-acted like a reject car salesman). Never stands behind the product, and blames you. He went thru too many excused I lost count when he got mean/rude about it. I would suggest going to a different location (like us). We feel that Rick is the very worst, out of all vehicle repair and parts place person that we have ever been to. Never this Costa Mesa location again..... NEVER-EVER. Go at your own risk... You will most likely get ripped off and told so many wrong things. We went to Bristol location and was treated so much different and with respect as a human person. read more
