I spent over $1000 on tires etc, less than 6 months ago and I recently made an appointment to have a tire repaired because it has a slow leak and I have to fill it up every couple of days. I made an appointment BECAUSE I don't want to leave my car for hours. I came in, about 20 min early and the guy (rude) said I didn't have an appointment, then when I showed him the confirmation on my phone he said it was "AI". Seriously? No. Then he says it will be hours and was really a jerk about it - and said we give you an appointment, but we don't tell you how long it will be. Then why the appointment? Just admit you overbook and treat people like crap. I'm taking it to another Big O and hope they aren't like the guys at Mae Anne. read more

This was my "go to" repair shop for years, and Chuck S. (mgr) was as professional and accommodating as you'd hope to find. After not using this facility for a couple of years, I stopped in yesterday to have a bulb replaced. To my dismay, I found my vehicle up on a lift with all 4 wheels off. "Standard protocall" checking brakes!! Wow!! The fact there were only a few vehicles awaiting service should have made me suspicious as this place was always humming in the past. Watching the "technicians" fumble around reminded me of a bunch of rookies. In the past, I recommended this business for minor repairs, even though a bit pricey. We had our oil change done along with a brake pad check. I was able to drop the car off before work which I wasn't even late for at 7:15 am. I was even able to get my car checked in earlier since I was able to give them a call the night before with all my information. While they changed the oil they noticed that my battery cables needed to be cleaned and did that for free since we had a coupon to use. All done before my lunch break at 11am. The Glass top vent on my new 2025 explorer got stuck in the open position. I took it to Capital Ford Carson City NV (where I bought it) because it was a warranty repair. Capital said they would be back to me the next day with a status report. No call back and over 2 days 4 VM and no call back so I finally went down from reno to Carson City and spoke face to face with them They told me they needed to hold the vehicle and do a major repair to the moon roof which would probably take 2 weeks. Totally not workable for me as I am leaving on a trip in a few days and the vehicle will be parked outside for 12 days. In desperation I took it to my go to Company for routine maintenance Big O Tires on Mae Anne in Reno. Chuck the store Mgr. took the Explorer in and within 30 minutes did a diagnostic check, recalibrated the system and now it works perfectly. The bottom line unless you have to take it to any local Ford dealer for a warranty repair don't do it. Take it to Big O Tires on Mae Anne. I scheduled an appointment at this location based on prior satisfactory service. On Sunday, June 15th, I requested an appointment online for Thursday, June 19th. I received an email confirming that my request was under review, and on Monday, June 16th, I received a subsequent email confirming that my appointment had been approved. However, upon arrival for my scheduled appointment today, I was informed that I was not in their system. A staff member inquired whether I received the confirmation directly from "them" or from the computer system. I showed him the email confirmation, to which he responded, "that came from the computer, not us." I inquired about what it would look like to receive a confirmation directly from "them," and he stated that "one of us would have reached out," but did not provide further explanation. The staff member offered to accept a drop-off with an unknown return time and date, but at this point I was already very upset. Out of consideration for other customers, I chose to leave rather than request a manager to resolve the matter. This has never happened to me before at this location. I find it concerning and incredibly disrespectful that such discrepancies exist within their system, and it reflects poorly on their customer service to be aware of an alleged system error and not take steps to address it. Made an appointment online to do a tire repair, got a call 10 min later that an appointment won't be necessary that we can show up anytime and have that handled. We decide to still show up at our appointed time. Not only do they tell us that our appointment was cancelled (which we did not request), but that they cannot help us. Why call us and lie? Found a screw in a tire this morning. Took my car to Big O. They were able to repair the tire with a short wait for $25! Very pleased.

This business was a problem from the start. I called and got an appt for 9am on Friday. I gave the gal on the phone all the pertinent info; my name, phone, car make and model. When I got there at 8:45, they couldn't find my appt so I figured she just took me anyway. All the paperwork was under my daughter, they called me her name. I wondered why since I had been there before. That was weird. After I got a horribly high estimate for my front brakes, the counter girl tried to charge me for a "free brake inspection and estimate". $40 is not free. The young man with the green eyes was honest and I liked him a lot. I feel he's wasting his time there. I will discourage anyone I know from going there and I will never go there again. Too bad because I've been there in the past and got pretty good service. Obviously they don't care anymore. I wonder if the management has changed. read more

Called Big O to get my car in as I woke up to a flat tire. They told me it would be late in the day which I said that was fine and I asked if they had to keep it overnight what would happen. They told me they always move the cars inside if they are left overnight which made me very happy. They did get my tire done later in the evening but as I was out of town I asked them to keep it and they obliged. I picked it up the next day and the service was just as I had requested. They did call me to do an extra service but after talking with the service rep determined I did not have to do it at this time. I was very surprised that the honesty of the service tech. I couldn't get my car over to the MaeAnne shop safely so he called the Old Virginia St shop and had everything taken care of! A week ahead I scheduled an appointment the check tire sensors, got to the store and they didn't have me in the system. Have to show them the appointment confirmation. Then they want me to wait for an hour because there was no one available to check the TP. It doesn't take more that 10 min. To scan the sensors! What a waist of time!!! read more

On 3/7/2025 while on the freeway my overheat light went on while driving (It scared the heck out of me) and was able to get it to my job. I had my Chevy Trax towed to Big O Tires on 3/7/2025. Driver said I probably shouldnt take car to BIG O. I told him that my children took their vehicles to Big O and that they trusted them. I sat there all day when I was finally told that they did a diagnostic test and it came back that it needed a coolant hose, coolant connector (remove and replace) did a coolant flush, added coolant and disposed and the total would be $412.52. It was finally fixed I thanked the girl that helped me, I asked if they went through the entire car and she said yes, everything was fixed and there wouldn't be any more problems with my vehicle. On 3/14/2025 I called Big O Tires again and talked to Maddie. I told her that the heat once again wasn't working in my vehicle and that I was scared that the same thing was taking place again. I told her that I would bring my Chevy Trax back to her on 3/15/2025 first thing in the morning and she said that once it was dropped off she would have it looked at immediately and let me know what was going on with it. She assured me that she would keep me informed every step of the way throughout the morning while it was being looked at. While driving home on the freeway the evening of 03/14/2025 the overheating light came on again! I had to call AAA again for the 2nd time to have my vehicle taken to my apartment and that they would come back first thing the next morning to have it towed back to Big O Tires (by that time Big O was closed. I called first thing in the morning to have AAA come to get my vehicle and also spoke with Maddie letting her know it was on its way there. Maddie said she would keep an eye out and let me know what they found out. My vehicle was dropped off and I received NO calls from Maddie. Hours passed and still no call and I spoke with someone else there that told me the car was there but it still hadnt been looked at. I called several times through out and Maddie seemed to always be busy doing something and I kept waiting for a call that never came. Later I called & I spoke with a gentleman there and he said that Maddie was out on a drive and that my vehicle still hadnt been looked at. This was around 12:30 or so. I received a message from Maddie at 1:36 saying that they got my car looked at as soon as it was dropped off. Hmmmm?! I had called at least 4 times that day and everyone I spoke to said my vehicle hadnt even been looked at yet and that it was still sitting where the tow truck dropped it off. Why lie?!!!! She claimed that she called but that I didnt pick up when she called or call wouldnt go through. I had NO missed calls and no problems receiving calls either. Another lie. She in text said that there is now a leak coming from the opposite side of the engine compartment and it was coming from the water pump and thermostat housing and that everything was checked last week and that unfortunately they didnt have the parts and it now wouldnt be fixed until Monday. She sent me another itemize quote and this time it was going to be over 1300.00 to have it properly fixed. I told her that I didnt understand why this was not found just a week or so prior at the first time being there. She pretty much told me that they did check everything and that it happened because I drove it making it my fault. I had no vehicle to get to work on Monday. In her quote I now needed a water pump, a kit, thermostat with housing and sensor, underhood labor, cooling system drain and fill service, water pump lubricant and cooling system protect, super radiator cooler, dex cool/multi vehicle coolant oil disposable fee. Totaling over 1300.00. She said it would be ready by Monday. I told her I needed it to be done by 2:15 pm on March 17th because I am a dialysis patient and cannot miss a treatment due to my renal failure. She assured me it would be ready. Monday came and I received no calls from her at all. I finally called and asked for her and she was once again not available. The gal that I spoke to on the phone said that my vehicle was still being worked on and it would not be ready until much later. I told her that when I heard from Maddie she said it would be ready for me to pick up and so that I wouldn't be late for dialysis. I received a message saying my car was ready for pick up and went to pick it up. They ended up only doing part of what they said. Upon reading it was now said that there were several things that were recommended for me to still have these things done to my vehicle. So not everything was completed! Many of my friends said I was taken advantage of and that a good mechanic would have caught all of this the first time. So disappointing. I am a wreck when I drive my car. Its like I have PTSD and just waiting for problem to happen again because not everything was fixed that I was told would be! So disappointed:( read more

I've been here quite a few times over the last few years and it always feels like they're wasting my time. I think we've gotten a few sets of tires, countless oil changes and what non. Everytime it's a whole day affair. It what world does an express oil change take more than 30-60 minutes. I worked for a Toyota service department and we never had someone wait more than 30 min for an oil change. I also wanted my wheels balanced and told that was a 2 week wait....at a tire place. Anyway, dropped the car off at 8 when they opened and said I needed it back as soon as possible due to appointments during the day. They said a couple hours, longer than I was hoping but I could make it work. Fast forward to 1pm... Tried to call to find out if my car was done and was put on hold for 15 minutes, decided to drive over while I had a ride to pick my car up. Show up and it had not been touched. They had the audacity to tell me my car was next.... Bahahahaha. Took my keys and left, will never go back with any of our vehicles. They clearly have so much business they don't need to worry about doing things in a timely manner. read more

Brought our truck in for an oil change, tire rotation. Upon the return of the truck the front skid plate was hanging by one screw! Brought the truck in 3 working days later. I spoke with the manager about how dangerous the situation was with the truck. He stated that he would have to check the tapes to see what happened. After securing the skid plate with 3 screws, the manager gave me a "free" oil change business card. I asked him why would I do that when the truck had been previously released road ready but was unsafe. He was apologetic but didn't seem to understand the responsibility of making sure any vehicle is returned to the customer road ready. Truly felt that because I was a woman, that I wouldn't notice the problem and as long as I drove away, the problem was gone. Lack of respect for their own work. read more

Went to Big O, got serviced at counter straight away despite a lot of people being in the office area they were well staffed. The wait time was right on the predicted estimate, all service reps were very friendly. The manager who assisted us when we first got there even took the time to explain a question I had. The service was reasonably priced and upon leaving I even got free candy. (Sometimes it's the little things especially after the customer service was so friendly.) I would definitely use this place again. Also I've done my smog here in the past and it's always super quick and easy. read more

On 06/02/23 I had a noon appt. to drop off my vehicle to have several fluids and spark plugs changed. I left it at 10:30. I called at 4:25 and was told they completed several items including the tire rotation, but had not started the brake fluid exchange or the spark plug replacement. They asked if I could leave the vehicle overnight. It was Friday and I could not. When I arrived home there was no paperwork for the multi point vehicle inspection to tell me about my brake pads, which I specifically requested. Did they even look at the brake pads? I recieved a call from the district rep last week. Instead of addressing the brake pad safety issue or the over booking he told about the shortage of mechanics and offered me a free oil changes. I can get tires, brakes, fluids and plugs just about anywhere. If you want customer loyalty you have to give customers quality service. I may use Big O in the future, but it would be only as a last resort. read more

Average experience. While the job got done in the end, communication and reliability fell short. The quoted timeline wasn't met, and communication throughout the process was lacking. Eventually, the tires were replaced, but it didn't align with the initially promised completion time. It's a relief that the task was finally completed, but improvement in communication and meeting timelines would significantly enhance the overall service experience. There was on the bright side an annual (Black Friday promotion) snow tire special, Buy one tire, Get one free, so that was the upside, saved us a good chunk of change. This place is awesome! Spoke to Ivan over the phone about my breaks. He explained that they could do a break inspection and then they would be able to give me some honest feedback. That's exactly what I received. Any other shop would of took me to the bank. He explained that my breaks were still good and that it was just break dust build up that was causing the squealing. They clean off the break dust and put everything back together and now everything sounds great. If I would of went to anyone else they would of cashed me out. If you want an honest answer on your breaks this is the place to go!!! Finding honest people in this industry is hard to find. So look no further and ask for Ivan Ochoa. He took care of me like I was family. *** I went to 76 first off plumb/Virginia and they literally were gonna charge me starting out at $350 plus per axel and didn't even talk about a break inspection. Spoke to a service writer and they tried helping me out at first but then realized that my billing account was too much trouble to deal with and said that I needed to go elsewhere when I had a national account and have used other Big O tires with it in the past. Then I was forwarded over the manager Chuck and received basically the same treatment. He said they were busy and didn't want to go through the trouble of figuring it out. Dropped off our Honda for a tire repair. We had a plug that was near the sidewall and was starting to crack. Big O said they didn't have a comparable tire and wanted to install four new ones. The tread we had was in great shape and of course they want to sell tires so I was leery. I asked them to check the date code and they were from 2018. It was then a no brainer to get new tires. They had it done in about an hour and we were happy customers. One of the few times I've had a good experience at a big box tire shop. read more

As a small business owner, I went in to see if they could pull a nail out of my tire and patch my tire so I could safely get to a job this morning. They told me 2 to 3 hours to just have it looked at they wouldn't even look at my car as a small business owner in the Reno area being told That it would take three hours to do a 10 minute job is completely unacceptable. I explained to him that I could drive to my storage unit get a jack and my tire patching kit and do it all in 20 minutes but need somebody to help immediately they didn't care. The manager was actually rude and gave me excuses about how he's too busy to even look at the tire. I am completely disgusted by the behavior of this business as another business owner I went to him for help, and he sent me away to go look for another business that would help instead of taking my business in. I will gladly not recommend them to anyone as they did a disservice to my business by not helping me fix my work vehicle. read more

I have been taking my car to this Big O since 2016. They always take good care of me. I've never felt pressured to spend money. They give me honest helpful advice. I love the showroom staff - Maddie is a gem - because I always have lots of questions and they're always patient with me, never treat me like the car dummy that I am. In 2018, someone backed into my front passenger corner in a parking lot and drove off. It tore a hole in the bumper and tweaked my headlight assembly. The dealership wanted to replace it all for way too much money. The bulb would sometimes work and sometimes not. I had a couple mechanics look at it but it would still randomly stop working. I mentioned it at my last maintenance appointment at Big O and their mechanic figured out the problem and fixed it. And didn't charge me extra! I haven't had an issue since. I could go on and on about how good this Big O is. Maybe they're good to me because I'm always respectful of them. They have important skills that I do not have. I'm grateful to have good car care with this shop. read more

Total trash, don't ever go here. There "comprehensive tire warranty" is snake oil and they'll find an excuse to weasel out of it. I even over paid this sham of a business to change my oil during the free tire rotations that are supposed to keep the tire warranty good. It doesn't, they'll also try and snake you into paying a bunch of money to verify your alignment... they are like old school used car salesman. Big O Tires will try and take advantage of you! I brought my 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid in after waking up to a flat tire. Roadside assistance put on the spare, so Big O examined the tire that had been flat. After looking at the flat, the technician tells me that I need FOUR new tires, because it's an all wheel drive vehicle. I question, "well roadside assistance said that I would only need the one or, at max, the front two." I explain further that the car only has 15,000 miles, and again question why 4. He again says it is due to the all wheel factor. I question him, "are you being honest?" He says of course. I didn't believe him, so I called Toyota. They said with that low of mileage, there is absolutely NO WAY I would need to replace all 4 tires. So, long story short, if I had believed Big O Tires, I would be out $1,400!! After visiting Toyota, I replaced one tire for $350. They are NOT trustworthy! read more

Maybe I'm feeling warm and fuzzy and five star review-ish because I just finished the best Cinnamon Honey latte I've ever had right across the parking lot at Classic Rock Coffee. It also helps that the Big O staff was extremely helpful and accommodating when I stopped in unannounced with a couple bald tires. The lady at the counter pulled up my records, went through every option and found a way to fit me in immediately. I was bracing myself and already putting myself in a sour mood imagining myself getting totally fleeced for a new set of tires. Not only did she find me some good, I'm stick tires but she got me great pricing. They do a nice job of taking care of the tires while you have them too. If you're on the fence, give them a try and go have some coffee and breakfast or lunch across from them at Classic Rock. It's way nicer than waiting in a boring lobby. read more
