Being on an empty stomach they make sure to feed you quick. I got a clear soup and vegetable samosas to start. They were light, savory and had a satisfying crunch with each bite! For the entree I got the crispy dragon roll which was a shrimp tempura with an extra kick of spice and citrus and to finish I got the Pork Tonkatsu cooked to perfection with the type of crunch a contentious serving of papers at my porch door couldnt compete against. The service was very polite and welcoming, the hostess offered very insightful suggestions on what to try all with an excellent pride for the food and drink. I would recommend visiting if you're looking for a place to avoid appearing in court and needing a relaxing ambiance to subtantiate your decisions and reflect how you got to this point in your life. Back at Bikkuri after maybe two or so years. It's better than I remember. They've revamped everything with new menus, new drinks, and even a cute club space behind. My favorite waiter Pete was there to greet me and he actually remembered me! Izza was our waitress this time and she was very sweet. To start I ordered my favorite frozen Tarro Boba Tea For my entre I ordered the Salmon Philadelphia Roll & The Bikkuri Special Roll (See images below) My boyfriend ordered the special lobster roll which he didn't end up liking so we sent it back, and their service was very kind after we didn't like something. I tried this place out back in December with my sister. The food was okay. Nothing memorable. I wouldn't go back. We ordered a few sushi rolls, fried dumplings and the pork belly. Great time here! Husband and I went for the happy hour which is 5-7pm everyday. We got the volcano roll, crazy yellowtail roll, bikkuri special roll (asked for it to not be fried) and 2 pieces of the salmon nigiri...we also got the 2-4-1 cold saké. Everything was fresh and delicious! It came out super quick too. We got there around 6:15 pm and we were a little worried that we wouldn't have enough time for the happy hour but we actually were leaving by 7:05 pm full of food and happy! I'm a little thrown off by the poor reviews. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner here. Hidden gym, super cool ambience, friendly and welcoming staff, very clean. The menu is super extensive and you can tell it's authentic Japanese cuisine. My boyfriend ordered the Japanese golden curry (he orders curry everywhere) and yes, it was different because it was Japanese curry, but he LOVED IT. He described it as perfectly portioned, perfect heat level , perfect flavors, and evenly packed with vegetables and protein! I ordered the Living Color sushi roll with black truffle sauce. My family and I love Bikkuri. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is always clean and we have been fortunate to never have too long of a wait when we go. I have heard they have a great happy hour, but I've never done that! There offer a large variety of rolls. Our server was able to give great recommendations. Overall: First time here, the happy hour menu was nice to save a few bucks. The sushi was fresh and tasty. We would go back again. They have private parking lot and a full bar. Appetizer: Spicy garlic edamame. Id have to say the biggest disappointment in nearly all ways. The portion was very small, and the garlic and spice seemed like an afterthought and not really on the edamame(and was an upcharge). The edamame itself was cooked well though. Main course: We ordered the Crazy Yellowtail Roll, spicy tuna, kimchi and hurricane rolls. We enjoyed them all and all tasted like fresh fish, most importantly. What helped set this experience out was our server, Pete. He was very friendly, had a great sense of humor, and was open to offer honest suggestions to make sure we had an enjoyable dining experience. The first thing about Bikkuri is the entrance, you'll probably find it unique as it is located on the second floor. We happened to time it right where they had their happy hour going on (5pm-7pm) where there are 2/1 drinks and an assortment of appetizers and rolls. This is where things did begin to get a bit misleading, and pricing is something they should attend to. Some of the items the normal price is actually the same as the happy hour and were placed there to give the allure of more items being discounted than they are. For example the Kampyo roll is normally $3.99 and priced as being a happy hour special at $4. With that out of the way, how's the food and drink? The rolls/nigiri were excellent! They offer a large variety and everything seems to be freshly prepared to order. Their ramen was nothing to write home about, but their apps (tempura, karokke, Rangoon) were very good as well. Husband and I went to this restaurant with our little one. It was the first time we were trying a restaurant with my baby, so I wanted to pick a place that I knew wouldn't be too packed in case my child goes ballistic. Luckily, I was right, and the restaurant had a light crowd at the time and no wait. We sat down and I ordered the Thai iced coffee, shrimp tempura roll, and real crab roll. I wanted the lobster roll I usually get, but it was off the menu. They only had the Cajun lobster roll (which sounds spicy) and the server told me they didn't have lobster available at all that day. The food got to us in about 30 minutes. The Thai coffee was great, and you have the option of adding boba to it. This place is a hole in the wall on the second floor that our friend recommended to us and it was great!! The service was very quick, we had an issue with our pad Thai coming out a little cold, and our server was on top of it. He had it switched for a fresh pad Thai and it was perfect. The sushi was so fresh I loved the dancing yellow tail! I don't remember what the other role was that we got but it was also very good. Super late review of a casual go-to Sushi place in the Colonial area in Orlando. If you're looking for a quick sushi fix, either for dine-in or take-out, you have found the perfect location. When I used to go there a lot, they had both a downstairs casual dining area, upstairs dining hall, and a lounge where you can book for karaoke parties. Not sure whether they still have it nowadays. Will stop by and find out. Despite being on the busy Colonial Drive (SR-50), if you go and park in the back, it's actually very easy to find. My go to was Maki B (or any other Maki's for that matter), which was probably spicy salmon roll and chicken (cooked) rolls. I'm a sucker for anything Salmon, so I like Kobachi Salmon, basically it's just raw salmon cubes lightly glazed with sriracha and garnished with green onions and some herbs. On that particular day I was treating a small company of friends so I also ordered a small plate and a usual tuna and salmon sushi/ nigiri. One dish that I would recommend you to try is the okonomiyaki. It is kind of like a Japanese pancake with many toppings. I've been a fan of Bikkuri for years now, but the last time I checked in on Yelp, I noticed that I had yet to write a review for them. How has a restaurant that I've been enjoying for years hasn't had a Yelp review from me is a mystery to me and it's time I rectify that. Bikkuri is awesome. You know that, I know that. There's no beating around the bush here. Located on E. Colonial just short of the Mills/50 intersection sits this awesome restaurant located on the second floor of a building. The parking lot next to Bikkuri is somewhat limited, but I've found that you can park at other areas within close proximity without punishment. What is Bikkuri? Their official business name is Bikkuri Sushi, Noodle & Grill, and I think that's a pretty apt summation of their restaurant. They're not only a sushi joint; they offer plenty of other Asian dishes, all of which are as top quality as their sushi. The menu is huge and offers everything from sushi to sashimi to noodle dishes to pad Thai to ramen. If you have an affinity for Asian food, this is a great place to go if you're in the mood for Asian food but can't decide on exactly what type as of yet. Their sushi is superb. Probably some of the best I've had in Orlando, and they definitely don't skimp you on the portions. My suggestion would be to order more than one roll and keep the others for leftovers. You could plan out a week's worth of meals with this place. This past Sunday, a close friend of mine and I came here to celebrate our annual "Forget the Super Bowl, Let's Go Eat Sushi" tradition. But as soon as I got there, I started to eyeball their ramen. I've liked just about everything I've tried from Bikkuri, but I had yet to try their ramen. Spoiler alert: their ramen is awesome. Fresh veggies, tasty broth, delicious noodles, and a good variety of selections for protein. My beef ramen was the perfect antidote for a couple of days of a cold and a disinterest in Super Bowl activities. Like I mentioned above, they hook you up. Their ramen bowl was so big that I had to take half home for leftovers. Bikkuri loves to make sure that you're full and that you've gotten the most out of them. The staff is always friendly and ready to explain dishes you're not familiar with. Also, I love the fact that this place is located on the second floor of a building. It reminds of New York City restaurants that operate on the second floor of a building while the first floor is doing something else. It gives it a slight Speakeasy charm to it. Like I said above, Bikkuri is kind of a Jack-of-all-trades as far as Asian food is concerned, and this is a great place to bring friends and family who are in the mood for Asian but can't decide on which in particular. They are also very kid-friendly and are more than willing to accommodate customers with children. I consider Bikkuri to be an Orlando staple, and I urge any Orlando residents to give them a shot. They've been around a long time, and there's certainly a reason why. Bikkuri has nailed down a lot of Asian cuisines, and if you're with a party of people who are down for Asian food, this is probably the best place you could go to, and everyone will be happy with the results. Workers were wearing masks when they greeted me. When looking at the menu online, there were spelling errors, which immediately made me feel uneasy about ordering from here. Its just one of those details I think is important. The sushi tasted good. The volcano deluxe roll had a unique mix of flavors and was very filling. My biggest issue was that the prices online did not match the prices they charged me. I think the manager was the one who gave me my order and he did have me look over the receipt to prove to me that the price was $28 for 3 rolls! I did appreciate that but when ordering ahead on the phone, its very frustrating to not have the correct updated proces for items. Our daughter wanted sushi after another performance at the Dr. Phillips Center, so we returned to Bikkuri Sushi. There was plenty of parking on the west side of the building, so we headed upstairs. It was mid-afternoon, about 3:30 PM, so there was only one server working 3 tables. We started with 2 Miso Soups and one Ginger Salad, with water to drink. We ended up with about 48 pieces of Maki sushi, including an American Roll, a Mexican Roll, the Living Color Roll, a Volcano Deluxe Roll, California Roll, and our favorite, the Fatty Beef (wagyu) Roll! Everything was made fresh to order, and looked absolutely delightful. More important, everything tasted great. The rolls are very creative and well made. This was the first time I didn't order Nigiri; and, I didn't miss it.
