6 of us ate there last night. We ordered 3 pizzas, 2 full size salads, 1 kids cheeseburger, & 1 appetizer. The food was okay, salads nothing but bag lettuce. The service was marginal. We started to get Bill's pizza from their North location when we moved to the area about 6 years ago. Since that time we have totally given up on the delivery option after deliveries taking over an hour for cold dried out pizza. That left us with using their carryout option since they are close, but after there being mistakes and just poor quality food we are officially done with Bill's Pizza. Yes all customer care people can make mistakes and I accept and understand that, but when the last 3 out of 5 orders have been wrong or poor quality it identifies a problem. Went back to Bills in Grayslake to have there excellent thin crust pizza and watch a little sports at the bar. We split a beef sandwich, and have got to tell you it was terrific...moist, juicy with great bread...also started with some wings with were good, but not great. Lowered my rating on this place after learning the owner fired one of there long time employees, Don...for some petty reason...he was a great guy, with lots of folks enjoying his company at the bar. Heard she tried to get him back..but guess he told her to you know what...this is how you lose customers...probably won't be back here...there are other places much better. read more

Love the pizza but the customer service is terrible. Family went in for dinner last night ordered two pizzas. Waitress came out with one and said the cook made the other pizza wrong and they would cook the new pizza. It takes forever to get your food which is ok because the pizza is really good but there was no way we were going to wait for another pizza because everyone would have been done eating by the time the other was done. Waitress apparently thought it was funny and asked if we wanted the wrong one instead.....ummm no I am not going to pay for something I did not order. Then asked if we have club card and when I said no she went on to say probably because we make your pizza wrong. I get it uncomfortable situation. No blame on waitress at all but management could have at least took an appetizer off the bill. Some people do not like meat on their pizza and it was a pain to have to pick apart food in order to actually eat. Guess we will be looking for a new pizza place. read more

My husamd and I have tried Bill's several times since returning to the area, but last night's experience was really disappointing. We went in on a Wednesday night at 8 for a "quick" pizza, but service was really off. The waitress was gruff and abrasive, yet no apology or explanation for two pizzas and a sandwich taking almost an hour to arrive. We did enjoy them, although the margherita was just OK. We've been fans of Bill's forever as my husband grew up in Mundelein. I just don't get the inefficient kitchen. Even being (literally!) the only customers in the place on the 4th of July, we waited a ridiculously long time for a thin crust pizza. Maybe it's by design to sell more drinks? In general, I'd pick up or order for delivery, then wait in the comfort of your own home. read more

This is one of my favorite places to take my family. Family run and community oriented. The third generation of the original owner has kept the same recipe for pizza since 1957. In fact my parents closed on their home in Mundelein in 1971 and went here for pizza, and Now almost 50 years later, My kids love to throw peanuts on the floor and color while we chat about their day waiting (20-25min for thin or 45+ for a double decker) for our pizza. They are also known for great broasted chicken. If you are looking for a cozy place for a pizza dinner and enjoy your family you can go to either location (this or the original in Mundelein). But I will warn you, Friday's and Saturday can be busy and you can wait almost 45 or 60min for a table... And because of their cozy atmosphere and fan following, you can also wait any other day... especially if you have a party of 6/8 or more, so It's best to call ahead to see what the wait time is if you have a large group. read more

Went on Saturday at 5:30pm and it was surprisingly not busy. There were a bunch of empty tables so we were able to get seated right away. Great, right? Well, it went downhill from there. We were seated at a sticky table and after waiting about ten minutes for service (watching groups who came in after us getting served), I went up to the hostess desk to let them know we still needed a server, and a wipe down on the table. A few minutes later a server finally shows up and takes our drink order. We mentioned the sticky table and wait. He finally comes back with our drinks and a wet rag. Yay! He did eventually come back for our food order but we had to flag him down for everything else. Drink refills, to check on our pizza that was taking forever, etc. We actually were concerned that he forgot to put in our pizza order and was avoiding us because it was taking so long. We were there for TWO hours!! The pizza was good and that's the only reason I gave 3 stars. I'm not sure I'll go back to this location though. We seem to get better service in Mundelein read more

Service is horrible. My wife and I went for the first time and were greeted rudely by what we assumed was the manager. We were then told there was a little bit of a wait so we waited in the bar area. I stood at the bar for 15 minutes and was never acknowledged by a hostess, server, or bartender. Not so much as a "Hello, it'll be a while." or "Hi, we're busy and I'll be right with you". I have been coming here for years. The service is always great and is still great. However the food portions have gotten ridiculously smaller and the PRICES have gone way UP. Also I used to love coming there for the unlimited peanuts and throwing the shells on the floor. The peanuts they now serve are stale and no longer unlimited. If you want a refill on the peanuts they charge $4 per refill. I understand some may take advantage of unlimited but I doubt that would make or break your business. It used to be my number one pizza and pub place to grab some food but now I believe it is a rip off. Don't bother. We waited over an hour for our pizza. We saw patrons seated AFTER us get their pizza and leave before ours even came. When it came, it wasn't as we ordered. Spoke to the Manager who claimed the kitchen was "backed up" but that was just a poor excuse. The breaded mushrooms we ordered as an appetizer were also a disaster. Terrible, terrible experience! My family and I were meeting with a couple business associates for a casual dinner, and were very surprised to find that Bill's not only didn't meet our expectations but in fact was extremely disappointing. To begin, our server was hardly attentive, we weren't greeted until sitting for nearly 10 minutes and then it took another ten minutes for her to return with our drink orders. In addition, because we had already been sitting for so long and ordered our appetizers with our drink orders, she had the audacity to bring our food before we even had a glass of water! Once we finally had food and drink, we discovered mini tacos were poorly executed Costo frozen tacos, with no lettuce or cheese but simply a nickel-sized bean portion served with lackluster sour cream and salsa. My main course which arrived twenty minutes before the rest of our party's was a seemingly easily pleasing margarita pizza, however what was brought to our table was a shame to all pizzas. It was a papery, hole-filled crust, with a sad excuse for flavourful cheese and tomato and basil on top. All in all it was a less than desirable dining experience and we will not be returning. My advice to anyone that actually wants a decent meal is not to venture to this establishment. read more

I accepted a Groupon offer for Bill's - and went there for some drinks/appetizers after work one night. We sat in the "bar" area at a table. The waitress was not exactly pleasant. We had the fries with cheese and bacon. They were okay. My friends enjoyed them, but I would have preferred to have a little more "kick". I love Bill's Pub. It's probably my favorite establishment in Lake County. I will agree with others that the Mundelein location probably makes better pizza but Grayslake definitely is no slouch. My friends and I usually get the special which is just your standard supreme pizza: sausage, mushroom, onion, and green pepper. It was our first time eating here and was highly recommended from a co-worker. We got seated right away on a Friday night which was great. Since we were first timers we needed an extra minute to look at the menu. Our waitress took a long time to return. Ok, served drinks. Had to flag down our waitress for refills, (we were a table of two) only one of us received a refill. Got an appetizer, had to flag down our waitress for silverware. Our meal took a really long time to get to us. Our waitress walked by and said your meal is coming up. Another 15-20min later it finally arrived. My personal pizza was good, not $15 good, but decent. My husband ordered a meatball sub sandwich. He took one bite and make a strange face. I said what's wrong? The said the meat tastes bad. He gave me a bite to try and it was awful! I don't think it was beef, because it had a fish flavor to it. Yuck! He tried to eat some of it but he said it just tasted so bad. Of course our waitress never returned to check on our meal or if we needed refills (which I never got). She came back to give us the bill, then asked how was it? My husband said the meatball sub was the worst sandwich he's ever had, they may want to check the meat or something because it was terrible! She just said oh. Still charged full price. Came back with change and just said sorry you didn't like it. Have a good evening. Very disappointing, don't plan on returning. read more

My wife and I ate here, in the restaurant, for the first time on Thursday, 11/3/16. We had ordered their pizza for delivery so we already knew it was good. The waitress was very good, attentive and nice and friendly. The drinks were very good also. We had pizza, of course. Mine was delicious. I ordered the double-decker Bill's special, which is sausage, cheese, mushroom, onion and green pepper, although I asked to hold off on the green pepper. My wife ordered the Margherita. She said it was just ok. Due to a mix up with our order (they made mine thin crust rather than double-decker) the waitress brought the thin crust version of mine. She apologized and said they would make a double-decker version and we could eat the thin crust and take the double-decker home at no extra charge. It was great that she volunteered this without us having to ask. THAT is taking care of your customers!! I highly recommend Bill's if you're in Lake County. There is no other pizza around here (that I've tried) that is better!!! read more

Bills pub has one of the best thin crust pizzas around. Cooked to perfection with amazing taste. The crust is like a cracker and to me that is the best way to have pizza. There is nothing i don't like about bills. Both locations are amazing. The decor is rustic and such a part of northern Illinois. You will love their pizza and appetizers. read more

The service in this restaurant stinks! We got our drinks (all non alcoholic) and asked the waitress (Abby) how long it would take for a double decker pizza. She said 30 minutes so we ordered one. We only had about 1 hr and 15 mins but we figured that should be plenty of time. 45 minutes later..still no pizza. She FINALLY showed up to tell us 'the kitchen lost/misplaced the order' but that they were working on it now!! It never did come out so we started to leave. Abby (the waitress) had the GALL to ask my husband to PAY for the drinks (pop and lemonade)! Yikes!! You'd think that after not serving us our meal, they would have had the decency to not charge us for the drinks! We will NEVER go back to this hideous place again and will surely warn everyone we know not to go there as well!! I have been getting Bill's for years. No longer. I ordered a well-done double decker and got an under-cooked double decker. It was so under-cooked that when I popped it in the oven the cheese would not even turn brown. I also had to wait longer than they said it would take which I understand. This was one of my and my families favorite places to eat for years. The last 8-12 months it has become terrible. Below average food has now become almost inedible. The last 5 times we have ordered delivery the order was wrong or items were missing. When we call we get an attitude of what do want us to do about it. They do nothing and then send an oops card. The last meal we ordered the pizza had no flavor and our broasted chicken was black and so greasy we could not eat it. The meal was thrown out. Went there on a Saturday night with a party of 7. Told it would be 35 minutes. Not only was it over 35 minutes but there were lots of empty tables that no one would clean so that we could be served. We had reservations, a group of 17, set in the small room, Tuesday night at 5:15. We were told no problem with separate checks. Also, we could only stay in area 2 hours because of other patrons coming in. All of this was fine because we had 7:30 concert tickets. The only 5 star was our waitress. She took our drink orders as we came in - all orders were put in by 5:30 and she was very pleasant. What possibly could go wrong? 2 1/4 hours later. Those of us who did not have pizza got our orders at 7:00 only because we requested. Some pizza's arrived. All had to eat hurriedly in order to get to concert. 4 people got pizza to go at 7:30. Individual checks was a zoo. No word from a manager to explain what was going on or offer us any consideration. Never, never would I go back. Second time they forgot to prepare my order. I explained this happened once before and the others in our party asked that my order not be messed up. After waiting over an hour, the pizzas arrived, but when I saw the manager I knew they messed up. He told me they didn't put my order in but it was cooking. I guess I was supposed to watch everyone else eat while I waited for my food and then everyone could wait for me to finish so we could leave He couldn't understand why I got upset. We were on our way home and called to order carryout from Bill's. They said it would be ready in 30 mins. However, we arrived in less than 10 mins, so instead of waiting in our car for 20 mins, we decided we would eat inside and enjoy Bill's atmosphere (a first for us as we usually order carryout). However, when we told hostess we had already ordered via phone, she told us that we were not allowed to eat in the dining room because other patrons would wonder why we got our food so fast. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. We just dragged our two small children out of the car in the freezing rain only to be turned away by their staff. Try explaining that to my 3 year old. Just ate here, the pizza took an hour for a thin crust, it came out cold, it had no flavor at all! The worst pizza I have ever eaten! We asked for a manager and there wasn't one on duty, they said the closest thing to a manager was the bartender and they told her we were unhappy and she just looked at us funny from across the room. Another customer posted that they are getting skimpy on their toppings. I second that comment, and it is a shame. I'm a cheese and sausage man. We had been ordering one of their "specials" which had onion, green peppers, sausage, etc. ...... it is hard to find any sausage in the pizza. So, next time, ordered just sausage ..... still hard to find any sausage. Oh, it is there, but it is tiny and not many. I have to say I am disappointed. Saturday was my first time visiting this establishment. LOVED IT! The atmosphere is amazing. It looks like a big log cabin and the inside is decorated with taxidermied animals and fish. We showed up at 630 pm with a party of 12, and had to wait an hour for a table, but that is to be expected with a large party on a busy Saturday. And the place was definitely busy. The host was friendly and when he showed us to a table, we were given a basket of peanuts and told to throw the shells on the ground. My kids had so much fun with the peanuts. We ordered three pizzas and a cheeseburger for my youngest. The pizzas came out and they were out of this world! I have never in my life eaten a pizza that tasted this good. The Bill's Special pizza was delicious and the sausage was superb. We also got a Margarita pizza. It was so light and refreshing! My son's cheeseburger looked so good I had to try some of it, and it too was great. The menu said it was a 1/3 of a pound of beef, but i swear this thing was as big as my son's head. The grownups at the table ordered some of the spring specialty drinks with our meals. The Lemon Raspberry Long Island was so delicious. When we told the server how good it was, she said that the manager had invented that drink. Definitely recommend the Lemon Raspberry Long Island. Our server was phenomenal also. She was very attentive with our table's needs. We never had an empty glass even though she was also taking care of 5 or 6 other tables at the same time. The pizzas took about 45 minutes to cook and get to our table, but again, there wasn't an empty seat in the restaurant. Plus the peanuts and drinks kept us happy while we waited. Everything the server did was taken care of in a timely fashion and with a great deal of positivity and friendliness. I have worked in the restaurant industry before and she went above and beyond what I could have possibly expected. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who loves pizza and a fun atmosphere while they dine. I will definitely be coming back again and again. I brought 7 adults from my special needs program there to enjoy lunch. We thought to come at 11 to avoid a lunch crowd. Not a single person was in the restaurant, however the manager said in the future we needed to call ahead so they had time to set up for us (a total of 9) it took her under a minute to push together a few tables. So that set the tone. When the waitress came to the table she didn't say hey guys how's it going or even hello, it was "so how are we doing this?" I explained that they each had their own money and would be paying their own bill. This waitress huffed loudly and slapped her mini note pad on the chair and said we don't do that. At that point I decided that we would just leave and find somewhere more accommodating. I told the waitress of the tone had been set since we walked in. That not a single person was in the restaurant and I didn't appreciate her response towards us. My participants went through the menus prior to coming and had already decided what they wanted. This had been planned for a month. Completely disheartening that adults with special needs are treated this way. We've had programs there from our establishment in the past but never again. We went else where. Lastly, these meal outings are to help teach them life skills of utilizing their own money and ordering and eating out. It was very sad and a bad experience. read more
