So came here early Saturday with two friends. I ordered the protein breakfast with eggs whites and veggies and I also got. Hot tea. I did order the mimosa with grapefruit , I forget the name it but it was a little more tart than my liking but not bad. I enjoyed my meal portion was big and very fresh. The fruit was gOod too. Service was fast , friendly and it was super clean. Parking was kind of bad but thank goodness we found something. I went to Bill's yesterday. Adan was our server. When he came over, he asked what we wanted to order. My son ordered a bowl of soup and a mimosa. I ordered the Ruben special sandwich on Sourdough, a cup of soup with an Arnold palmer and a side of ranch. He walked away and a few minutes later returned to ask us again what we wanted. We ordered again. The soup & drinks were delivered and no problem. He brought my food and I had to tell him that was not how I ordered my meal. I had to tell him again what I wanted and he looked at me annoyed because he didn't listen to what I asked. He brought my food and walked away. I had to cacatch him to bring the ranch. He took my cup to give me a refill and brought me only iced tea. Never asked us how our food was only the ladies in the next booth. The restaurant was not busy. I looked at the name on the receipt. Drinks were okay but the food was not great at all. I ordered the chicken and waffles and when it came it was a chicken with bone. I've never been to a breakfast place that has the chicken with waffles with bone and for a good reason. I was picking out the little pieces of chicken there was for what felt like the whole breakfast. When I asked the server, I think her name was Serena, if it's always been a chicken with bone for the chicken and waffles she just said yes. Didn't offer to get any else. We sat on the dog friendly patio where it was much more quiet. The food and service were both excellent. It is a little pricier than i am used to for brunch but the portions are huge. All of the Bill's serve basically the same breakfast and lunch offerings, but I find this location more congenial - and I think the meals are slightly better. On my most recent visit earlier today, I ordered one of the new items on the menu - the Blackstone Benedict - and really enjoyed it, but there are so many good and tasty items on the menu. the staff - all of them - are very attentive and show that they want their customers to have a great experience. Stopped by here for breakfast with my son the other morning. I was happy when we found a parking spot as we arrived, since I know this place is popular and can get pretty crowded. We got seated right away and we each ordered an Orange Juice, which was nice and cold, freshly squeezed and were really good. I ordered the French Toast with eggs and sausage. The French Toast was thick and airy and really good. I liked that they gave me 3 links of sausages to go with my 2 over-easy eggs. My son ordered the Buttermilk Pancakes with sausage and scrambled eggs. The pancakes were fluffy and light and good-sized. My son even had trouble finishing his meal, which is saying something. Great solid breakfast in San Jose. Old feel but lots of charm. Sat at the bar as there was a wait to get seated. Parking is also limited but they have a market across the street. Got the mimosa and it was worth it. Actually ordered another one. They have a great variety of mimosas and other adult bevs for breakfast drinks. Who doesn't love brunch? Parking here is limited since it is a small place. They do have a small parking lot, but if you can't get parking there then you have to park on the streets. Walking in you tell the staff how many people you have and you wait either inside or outside. The nice thing about waiting though is they offer free coffee so it keeps you warm as you wait for your table. Came here with a group of friends (7 total) and the wait was awhile which is understandable since we were a big party. When we finally sat down it took awhile for the waiter to get to us. When he finally did, he took our orders really quick which was great and he was really apologetic about the wait. Unfortunately our food took a long time to get out. It took over 25 minutes to 30 minutes and when the food did come out only 3/7 of us got the food. The other 4 had to wait a little longer for it....boo. I ended up ordering the strawberry waffle toast and to be honest it wasn't spectacular and nothing about it stood out to me. It tasted like any waffle with just strawberry. Absolutley wonderful! It was my first time eating here and I left satisfied. My sister recommended that we eat here, right off the bat when I saw how busy it was, the line was out the door. I knew I was at a true breakfast establishment. The ambiance is very well clean, the service was spot on and didn't wait long. Our waitress checked up on us constantly despite it being busy. Food is very good quality with large portions. I ordered the Bill's original skillet. It was filled with mushrooms, ham, tomatoes, green onions and cheese (just the way I like it) If you want a hearty meal....then this is the place for you, I wish I lived near the area, I would be a regular customer. The crab cakes are crispy and savory, the egg is poached perfectly with that nice runny center, and the hollandaise adds the last finishing touch. I came here knowing what I wanted but I still looked over the menu to see if I would change my mind. I was actually on the fence between the Oreo pancakes or chocolate chip pancakes. I opted for 2 chocolate chip pancakes and a small apple juice. When my food arrived I was in complete and utter shock, the pancakes were almost as big as the plate and they looked wonderful. They had just the right amount of chocolate chips, I tasted them in every bite I took. These were by far the best and biggest chocolate chip pancakes I've ever had. So big that I was only able to eat one and was to full to eat the other. The service was very good, my waitress was very friendly and attentive to me. This is something I really look for and appreciate when I'm out eating somewhere. She was waiting on my table along with two others outside and still made sure to check on every one and get the food and drinks out in a timely manner. Overall this place is the bomb!! I had the Petaluma with chicken apple sausage, potatoes and sourdough bread. I thought the potatoes tasted healthy and clean but not as crispy as I'd like them to be. However, both benedicts were so delicious. We both chose the country potatoes, which were cooked to perfection with eggs and bell pepper. And would any day off breakfast be complete without an alcoholic beverage? Of course not! I tried their bloody mary and even ordered it spicy. They have a fantastic bloody mary mix and top it off with a nice celery stalk! The service was a tad bit slow but the restaurant was packed. I cannot give Bill's anything less than four stars. So my I decided to take my brother for his bday brunch before heading into work. We get there around 10:30 am & of course there is already a line for those waiting to be seated for their breakfast meal. We waited about 15-20 mins & were seated instantly seated. We read the reviews & decided to try their Benedict & make sure we got the potatoes. So my brother got the California skillet which consisted of bacon, eggs, potatoes, and avocado. I came with a group of 9 for Sunday brunch and they assured us that we would get a table in a few minutes... Skeptical because there was quite the group waiting outside. About 45 minutes later, we were finally seated and a bit hangry since we expected it to be bad, was told it wouldn't be, and it wasn't really clear about when it would be. When we were finally seated, we were quick to be served coffee and our orders were taken quite promptly. Overall, most of our plates came out pretty efficiently and all at once but not without a few errors. One of us never received their orange juice (that showed up on the bill too! but they did take it off). Another got over easy eggs with sausage instead of with bacon. Another ordered pancakes when we received our food and took about double the time for our initial orders to actually receive it. They did quickly remedy their errors when they happened but they were plentiful. As for the food, many of us ordered benedicts and pancakes. I ordered a crab cake benedict with country potatoes instead of hash browns. I found out that that was the wrong way to go - hash browns are certainly the way to go. The crab cake benedict was quite nice and flavorful but it was one of the stranger crab cakes I've had... quite breaded on the outside though pretty tasty inside. The pancakes are so big here (think the size of a whole plate) and even mini pancakes with kids are the portion that I would happily eat. If Bill's Cafe had a tagline, it'd be: bang for your buck, breakfast style! It's certainly not a brunch I'd purposely seek to return to again any time soon but it fits the bill. There is a great selection of food here, and we decided to get the crabcake benedict (split order) to share. Loveeeeee it. The crabcake was soft and not too oily, the egg was perfectly cooked and the hollandaise sauce was thick :) Yummy. The hashbrown side was really good too. Crispy but not too hard. We had a side of mushrooms and chicken apple sausage to go along. It look slightly charred at first, but it was perfectly cooked inside. Service was decent, but not fantastic.
