This place is decent overall, but should be much better for the $. It is a very nice spot overlooking the lake with great views. The menu offers just enough options. The entrees are presented well and clearly has the oversight of professional chef. We had the seafood fideo and the stir fry soba noodles. The fideo was very tasty. It includes a very generous portion of pasta along with seafood. The chunks of salmon were slightly overcooked, but still quite good. It was a bit disappointing that they use the tiny bay scallops given the price point. All said, I would certainly order again. The stir fry soba was a real miss. The noodles come swimming in a heavy load of sauce. It says low sodium soy sauce in the menu description, but the dish was so salty it was nearly uneatable. It was an unfortunate take on an Asian inspired dish. Both the shrimp ceviche and the roasted beet appetizers were quite good. Service was decent. The waitress was friendly and helpful. They don't answer the phone, which is disappointing form a customer service perspective. We were able to get a question answered in advance by asking through the Open Table reservation. This is definitely a don't judge a book by the cover sort of place as the exterior has peeling paint and looks like a sad neglected hotel, but once you step inside it is a fun modern take on a high end mountain lodge. Food isn't something you rave about, but it's also not horrible, more like what you expect at a hotel. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. We arrived at 1230pm & the restaurant was virtually empty. There were only 2 tables w/customers inside & 3 tables outside. It took 10 minutes before anyone even came to greet us. Once we ordered our 3 drinks: a glass of wine, Diet Coke & ice tea it took another 20 minutes before they were delivered & we were able to order. My son went in to use the restaurant & our waitress was standing talking to 2 other employees & laughing & had our drink tray in her hand. When she saw him she finally brought the drinks out. In the mean time another table outside had tried to get a waitress & no one came outside so they went inside to have their drink refilled. The 2nd table outside got tired of waiting and took their bill & left to go inside and pay one their way out. Once we were able to order it took 40 minutes to get a fish & chips, Caesar salad & chicken sandwich. My husband had a choice of French fries or fresh fruit with the chicken sandwich. When the waitress brought the chicken sandwich she said she'd bring the fruit that they forgot. She finally brought the fruit when he had finished his sandwich. My son ordered a 2nd glass of wine which arrived after he had finished eating. I called to talk with the manager & I spoke with the night manager who said this was unacceptable service & that he would not allow this to happen in the evening. He said he took notes, would talk to the day manager & said he was sorry. I thanked him for his apology & explained my expectation was a call back from the morning manger to discuss this terrible service and compensation. Of course, she never returned my call. It's truly sad that they have let this place fall apart. We stayed at the Lake Arrowhead Resort over the weekend and had some great meals while we were here. The first night we opted to eat at the bar and loved the amazing bartenders! I had charcuterie plate and my husband had the Short Rib - both were excellent. Saturday night we dined on the patio which was picturesque! I ordered the Caesar Salad and Citrus Ahi Tuna - so yummy! Sunday we did the Brunch buffet which was fine, but pricey for what was available. Of course we did manage to get our money's worth with the bottomless mimosas! Finally one lady came and asked if we wanted to sit outside or inside; we chose outside and she said no since it's was cold and if we had decided to change we could had not go inside afterwards. We stayed at the Resort midweek and dined at Bin 189. Initially, the reviews had me hesitant to eat here but I'm pleasantly surprised at how wonderful our meal and experience was! I had the filet mignon and it was devine! Tender and flavorful as well as the side dishes! My cousin ordered the short ribs and said it was equally delicious! It also has some of the best views of Lake Arrowhead in town. We started dinner in the lounge where we share some guacamole and chips. I sipped on a glass of white wine while my kids relaxed from the drive up the mountain. Once our table was ready, we entered the dining room for an epicurean adventure. We started dinner with the Butcher's Block - a must when dining at Bin 189. Along with the appetizer, my husband and I shared the Caesar salad which was fresh, delicious and the perfect start to our meal. My two favorite items on the menu are the Delmonico and the filet mignon. Both of the steaks were seasoned to perfection and arrived at the table at our desired temperature. You can't go wrong with either of these two dishes. If you are in the mood for seafood, I recommend the Alaskan Halibut. The fish tasted as it had just been caught in the morning and the flavor profile was out of this world. Bin 189 is one of the best restaurants in Lake Arrowhead. Wife had the pork chop an I had the stir fry, both were great. My only challenge with this place is it is pretty pricey. I have to think that is why they lose a lot of stars. As for the service. It is COViD time and like most places, they are running on a skeleton crew. So be patient. Service is pretty slow at times, but I would have to say the servers are generally very friendly and helpful. I would say the biggest bummer was the wine glass. Towards the end of our dinner, my wife ordered 6oz glass of wine. Let's just say I have seen nicer wine glasses at a local pizza joint. To give you a visual, the 6oz pour almost filled the glass. How about update your online menu so people know what is available. Then it took another 40mins to get our food! We recently had a lovely dinner here! We've been on the mountain for over 35 years and have seen this place go through many changes. It's been hit and miss for a long time. Our most recent experience was great! Short Rib, Rigatoni and Bread Pudding were fabulous (next time I'm requesting more sauce for the Bread Pudding - it was outstanding!) Our server, Max was top notch! I had breakfast on Sunday, Aug. 30th, '15 on my own at Bin 189, a restaurant located inside the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa. All the years I've come to Lake Arrowhead and stayed at a pal's house, I've never had the opportunity or desire to check out the Resort. Sunday offered me the chance to do just that. The restaurant is located in an area of the hotel that overlooks the lake. During the summer, their outside deck, also overlooking the lake, is open and busy. On Sunday morning, you could order either from the menu, or help yourself to what looked like a very nice buffet that I only gave a passing glance at, but from what I saw on others' plates, it looked pretty AOK. I ordered a veggie omelet with tomatoes and cottage cheese instead of potatoes and toast. The omelet was very good, prepared with various fresh veggies. The side of tomatoes were so-so; a bit green, but I think that's the norm in California. (Heck, the tomatoes you buy in southern California markets look orange outside and and green inside when you cut into them. I don't get it!) My server, Alex, was obviously very busy. Other than having to ask for refills, she was generally efficient, professional and friendly. I would and will gladly go back to Bin 189 for breakfast. read more

Marriott advertises this restaurant as "casual" so we were not expecting $40 plates. The food is good. I got the seafood risotto, husband had the petite sirloin, child had a burger with fruit. With one soda and one glass of wine our bill came to $101 + tip. This is a pretty restaurant with pretty views of the lake and an extensive wine list. I actually thought the child's menu had more variety than the adult's. I could see this being a nice romantic splurge for couples staying at the resort. read more

Lake arrowhead by design really isn't intended for fine dining and nights on the town. We were lucky enough to to be visiting a friend's lake home for the 4th of July weekend which also coincided with her birthday. The perfect idea was to plan a girls night with drinks and it was ultimately a great night for our group. We arrived early and went to the bar for a pre dinner cocktail. Cosmos and dirty martinis with blue cheese olives served by a friendly bartender kicked it off. It was super hot by the bar (don't think they have AC) so the cold drinks went down easy. At the table we went for a hummus, veggies and pita platter and a bottle of rose. The rose was way too sweet and not great but we made the best of it. With dinner we ordered a bottle of red and they were sold out of the one we selected. They recommended another and it was ok. Our server was sweet and is definitely learning the business. For example, when asked about the fish she said "oh I don't eat fish so I don't know if it's good." Then she brought our wine to the bartender to open because she wasn't sure how to do it. She was super nice and we rolled with it because she had that earnest, pleasant style that you totally root for. Food was average. The pot pie was apparently a fail. The salmon and prime rib were fine and the filet was over sauced but properly cooked. It's all about the company you keep at dinner though and so it couldn't help but be a fun evening. The burrata and golden beat salad was probably the best thing I had. The clam chowder was cold and not edible. The bread was fresh but it showed up when we were basically finished with the soup and salad. My salmon entree was very dry and was covered with sauce that tasted like it was from a jar in the supermarket. It came with quinoa that was not cooked properly and 2 asparagus spears that were good. The Erath pinot noir wine I had was ok but the wine list is not impressive which may have been the biggest expectation gap...the restaurant is named after a wine storage Bin and there is a wall of wine as you enter.
