I stopped into Birch coffee after a run and I really enjoyed my cortado. The shop on the UES is small, which makes it a bit confusing as to who is in line and who is waiting to get their coffees. That being said, the coffee was very good and I'd recommend the shop to anyone in the vicinity.

After a run around the Central Park loop, I stopped by Birch Coffee since it was conveniently on the way to my next destination. I picked up a small COLD BREW and CHOCOLATE CHIP SCONE which hit the spot this past Friday morning. The cold brew was good but on the more forgettable side, nonetheless refreshing! The chocolate chip scone filled me up and it wasn't too sweet or dense. Paired well with the cold brew. Total was about 10.00 including tax! The interior is pretty small and more like a stall -- definitely a grab & go place.

Matcha latte w/orange cream Chili cheese palmier

I've walked by so many times thinking I'll go in one day. So, this weekend I finally stopped in thinking it is mid-morning and won't be a crazy rush. I hate being rushed especially when I haven't been and want to take my time deciding on a drink. I think I picked a good time because just as I got my drink, a rush of folks came in back-to-back. The two baristas and cashier were moving fast though! I asked the cashier for a recommendation because I wanted to try something unique. He suggested the matcha latte with orange cream even though he prefers a regular vanilla latte. I was hesitant, but boy was he right on how good that drink was!! For some reason I thought the drink would be orange or have orange foam on it? However, it looks just like a regular green matcha latte, but the orange cream is mixed into the drink. Surprised at how well the flavor combo worked! I paired it with a chili cheese palmier. I took it home and toasted it a bit and boy was that divine! Crispy, buttery, flakey! They don't have an oven at the shop, but if you can wait to take it home and heat it....it is heavenly. Small shop with just standing room only so mainly for to-go orders. No restrooms. They sell a variety of drinks and baked goods. $5.75 for a basic matcha was decent pricing for the neighborhood. A quick walk to Columbus Circle from the shop. I would grab coffee & a treat and head to central park for a walk. Can't wait to be back! Shoutout to the cashier who gave me a great recommendation this weekend!

This is such a cute coffee shop, and their drinks are great. Tried the iced Matcha latte and it was delicious. Good flavor and not watered down by the ice. Unsweetened on its own, but with vanilla or simple syrup it's lightly sweet. Service is nice. They handcraft each drink and are helpful to answer any questions.

This place is quite nondescript that I never notice it despite walking past it a few times everyday when I was staying at my friend's place a block away. Another reason was I usually walked on the other side but still, there was no big awning to catch people's attention like other restaurants or shops. Finally on my last day in Manhattan I told my friend I wanted to go there as I saw it on the map. They do have loyalty card so ask for it if you are a local. It's a take out place with no seating. I had the flat white which was not bad. Besides drinks, they sell merchandise and some baked goods. I think the focus is their coffee beans and drinks. Good place to grab and go for a cup of coffee before going about your day.

Came by to satisfy a matcha latte craving and thankfully they have it! It's a small and cozy store and staff are very efficient and friendly. They have everything you need for a coffee or morning before work breakfast. The matcha latte was alright and wasn't the best I have tried but they are better than Starbucks and not so sweet.

I've been a loyal customer at a variety of Birch locations for about a decade. Their signature iced tea is exceptional and the Cold Brew is above average. BUT...the croissants are so stale that my dog won't even eat them!

One of lattes in the city is a Burch coffee latte I live really close to one while I live in Midtown East so I highly recommend checking out the spot and walking around - maybe take a walk to the east river?

In my opinion, this coffee is one of the best! The staff is always polite and friendly. A very atmospheric place. My favorite coffee shop in Manhattan!

Large latte with hemp milk, $6

I walked by and this little coffee shop caught my eye! I love birch trees. I ordered a large latte with hemp milk. They do not have almond milk. I'm not sure why? Anyway, the coffee was pretty good! The hemp milk is creamy. Made my drink creamy. Nice flavor. It's $6 which is average for the city. They have little cards they punch for your coffees. They also have an app. Next time I'm near this spot, I will stop again. :)

Such a cute, quirky coffee shop in Hells Kitchen near Central Park! Iced coffee was strong, smooth, and high quality ($5.50 for a large), and staff was very friendly! This is a grab and go spot, as there is no space for seating. They have a bookshelf with free books that you can swap. And plants with fun labels that made me chuckle (Aplantis Morisette, Amy Vinehouse).

Great coffee, mediocre pasties and weirdly grumpy staff ‍ maybe that's just New Yorkers though right?

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.

Made with rice flour and egg whites, it is so airy, and literally feels like cutting through a cloud. Plus, it's gluten-free! A perfect little cake for a small celebration They also make the prettiest korean dessert sets, alongside bingsu, dubai chewy cookies, and einspanner. They're seriously always keeping up with the trends! *Black Sesame Ssal Cake $16.5 ** My top pick. The black sesame layer on top was the richest. Super nutty without being too heavy. The sponge and cream cheese had a subtle black sesame flavor. It reminded me of the cream in their black sesame einspanner. *Mugwort Ssal Cake $16.5 * This one was surprisingly rich. The mugwort had a strong earthy, herby flavor, while the plain cream cheese layer helped cut through the richness. *Mango Ssal Cake $16.5 This was a bit of a miss to me as there wasn't any mango-flavored sponge or mango puree inside. It was just a plain rice flour cake with a few slices of fresh mango on top. Though I could really taste the mild, clean rice flavor in this one. *Da-On Sang Set $26 ** A must-order if it's your first time here! The mochi was super soft, and the strawberry was so ripe and sweet. The yak-gwa and joo-ak were chewy, sticky, and just sweet enough, especially paired with the tea that came with the set. *Black Sesame Einspanner $8.5 *Mugwort Einspanner $8.5 The cream was lighter compared to other einspanners I've had. The mugwort one was bursting with earthy flavor. Definitely try it if you're a mugwort fan. The black sesame was alright. I personally wish it was a little richer.
