Birria LES is a good taco spot. Let me unpack that a little. There is a bit of hype over this place and in NYC apparently second only to the truck in Queens. So it sets up your palate to be amazed by the beef birria tacos and, good as they are, you feel a bit disappointed afterwards. No one will be heard to say these are not good, if not very good tacos. They don't meet with expectations and that's on me for having such lofty expectations from You Tube videos and some of the ratings here. Nevertheless, I suggest anyone try them for size and see for yourself if these are at a level nine or ten, five stars or nearly so for Yelp. The beef slider was better in my opinion. It was more fulfilling and, as a general matter, this I can write objectively. I wanted to sample it and try the slider with the consomme and found it to be more fulfilling and flavorful. The sliders with the consomme would be the way to go in my opinion and one would not feel hungry afterwards. In the final analysis, the roughly $27 spend would find greater satisfaction from any number of burger spots around the City. Spend ten dollars more and I can tell you about some flank and hanger steak options. If I had heard nothing about the place and the same tacos and slider with consomme were around twenty bucks, perhaps I would feel a little different. I would not discourage anyone from trying this place and more birria should be on offer in NYC. read more

My first Birria experience! Overall pretty great, super flavorful and juicy tacos. Obviously a messy meal but worth trying. The consume didn't have much birria in it at all, and I have a pretty salty palate but the consume was salty for me. Maybe don't skip the consume but set your expectations haha. After ordering my food came out pretty quick. I've had plenty of birria tacos but thought it was cool that they offered chicken and shrimp based ones. Came here while hanging out to see the Christmas tree with some family. Alwyas loved birria tacos and almost anything birria. It's a cute whole in the wall with limited seating but you manage to make it work. I ordered myself one birria empanada one birria taco with cheese and one small consommé. So the birria empanada was decent and I say this because the outer layer was horrible had a weird burnt taste to it but the beef filling delicious and that ruined it for me. Where do i begin... love love this place! This is the best kind of taco spot to go to when You're hungry at 1am and craving tacos. The service is hardworking and quick. I crave this so many times every month although I'm rarely ever able to get it and I recommend it to many out of towners - especially if they don't have a halal birria spot in their city/town. They've got a variety of birria dishes from classic tacos to dumplings to sliders with the option of beef, chicken, shrimp, or mixed. My favorite are definitely the beef sliders! I was also pleasantly surprised by the shrimp and surf & turf options. The consomme is sold separately and is delicious! I also really like their elote (although last time I had it, it wasn't up to par). I knew this place was legit when my friend that doesn't eat only halal raved about it! And of course, there's that TikTok of Bella Hadid raving about it - definitely deserved! They have a couple locations - LES, East Village, and are also at Smorgasburg! The EV location definitely has more seating. One of their big strengths is also that they are open LATE! So it's perfect for when you're craving a late night meal/snack. Just had an some cute Birria Dumplings, and let me tell you, it's an absolute must-try! Now, I've got some serious Birria taco standards, and this taco truck in Queens has completely blown me away. The birria is high quality halal meat. The meat tastes fresh and has a mix of meat and fat for a rich experience. Finally there's one in LES so I had to stop by to try the tacos with consome. I came on a week night and they had about 3 tables inside where you sit and some tables outside where you can stand and eat. I got 2 tacos and a small consome.
