We were there Saturday night. Our waitress was very nice and did her job well. The patio was beautiful. The food was definitely mediocre. My pasta was boring and tasteless. One person had the swordfish and it smelled fishy. Not fresh? My husband had a filet which was tough in places. Cheaper cut? What realty concerns me is that I am bringing a party of 9 in a week. We just love the outdoor atmosphere. The prices seem good. Only problem is menu items are a problem. Sometimes they have it and sometimes they don't. We've ordered a couple times with the server coming back saying they were out of a certain item when everything else was ready to be served. read more

I want to say that the service here was fantastic and our server Christopher was fantastic. He made eye content and was very attentive. Now for my experience that made it a less than desirable dinner. I ordered the special 12 oz stripe steak and that's my usual go to if I see it on the menu. I ordered it medium rare. The steak and sides came out and the steak was well done on half and medium well on the other. The sides of potatoes and cauliflower were obviously premade and heated back up. Not what I was expecting for $45.... that was unreasonable for the food that came out. The server immediately apologized and the kitchen manager came out to talk to us. We were in a hurry and needed to leave so I just stuck with the steak they gave me but what really gets me is the manager blamed his server, who was fantastic, for not checking on us right away. When the server absolutely did check on us. We were just in a hurry. So I am extremely disappointed that the kitchen manager blamed his poor meal on his server. All in all, I would only come here during Happy Hour the food was sub par to say the best. And the kitchen should not be blaming the servers for their downfall. I've gone twice and had two completely different experiences. I recommend making reservations and sitting outside. The outdoor seating is where the budget was spent. Relaxing and beautiful landscaping views. The difference is in the staff. The outside staff is amazing attentive any fast. Inside staff is forgetful slow and can't seem to be bothered with customers. The difference is incredible and disappointing at the same time. The food is great outside and subpar inside. I was surprised to receive raw dinner rolls still cold. Talk about lack of attention to detail. I will be back but will make sure to get a table outside. read more

The food is okay. I had the pulled pork sandwich and there was not much smoked flavor.

App of BBQ shrimp was good as well as the Caesar salad. That's about it. Meatloaf was "covered" with way, way too much ketchup with an overt amount of sugar in it (menu stated it was a glaze). Filet Mignon was ordered medium well....came out rare. Sent back and then it was edible. Twice baked potato looked like it came out of a box (like the frozen ones you buy at the grocery) - very dry...very bland. Service was far from good. Doesn't have a huge menu, but does have a lot of delicious options. I wish they had a draft beer selection, but had good cocktail options. My daughter had the kids steak and it was cooked so well, which is rare. Normally kids meals are not cooked as well, so love to see them make that a priority. A friend and I had lunch here on Saturday. We were able to sit outside and totally enjoyed it since it was a beautiful day in St Louis, which for July is odd... the food was amazing! Over the years, I've been here a couple times with my college chum. Both times we were on the patio. Both times I got a fabulous double-burger (no bun) with a lovely salad. And service was spot-on lovely and attentive. The patio is stupendous, sublime and rather secretive. Who knows you're there? Chesterfield Mall is up-top, but you'd never know, it's so calm. May 22, I came for a group dinner. Apps were ordered ahead by our host for us to share: grilled wings with smoky barbeque sauce and buffalo sauce; and house-smoked Missouri trout, served with capers, red onions tomatoes, horseradish cream with toasted rye rounds. For entrée, I ordered jumbo sea scallops served over a sweet potato puree, with bacon, roasted mushrooms, roasted red peppers and crushed tomatoes in a seafood broth. Those apps were soooooo ridiculously fabulous. The wings were crispy, tender, juicy and so flavorful. I tried both sauces. They were both good, but I preferred the smoky barbeque sauce. The trout was the winner in the apps category. It tasted so fresh, and its garnishes were too-too totally on-point. I love capers, red onions, tomatoes and horseradish. This total grouping of accoutrements could not have been better for the trout and my palate. My entrée could not have been better. The sea scallops had a perfect sear -- not easy to attain. And, yet, they were perfectly cooked and tender. The sweet potato puree was divine with the bacon, mushrooms, red peppers, and smoothed out beautifully with the tomatoes and seafood broth. Service on beverages and other needs was spectacular during the entire meal. This was an incredible meal. I'm so glad I didn't pick up the tab. read more

The food is fresh and beautifully presented. Most impressed by their extensive wine list. Bishop Post also offers a reasonable $20 corkage fee. So if you have that special wine in your cellar.... Their happy hour looks inviting, (Pictured menu) can't wait to try it. The main reason I would go back is tri-fold: The hospitable staff, Evan our server and Robyn the manager made us feel like guests. Which of course we are, but they really made us feel important, which of course we are! Just saying, it's not the typical shuffling of feet to your table. We visited for Valentine's Day this year and this review is mainly based on the service we received before we even sat down. We made reservations over a month ago for dinner, knowing how busy all restaurants would be. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and they stated our table would be ready shortly. We had a seat at the bar and ordered a drink. As we waited, we saw the host come by several times calling out names and looking for guests to be sat. After nearly 30 minutes past our reservation time, my husband went up to ask. "We have your table ready. We came out to announce your name and no one responded." If they made an attempt to say our name, both of us missed it, which would have been surprising as we were both paying close attention. When we got up to the host stand, they were speaking with a couple who was 20 minutes late for their reservation. Instead of taking care of the patrons who arrived ahead of time, they spent almost 5 minutes trying to figure out what to do with the late patrons while we just stood there. It was awkward to say the very least. The hostess was also very rude. I realize that VD is a busy and chaotic holiday for restaurants - I worked plenty of them as a server myself - but that doesn't mean terrible customer service is acceptable. Once we were sat, the food and service were fine, but the service from the hostess stand was unprofessional and really turned us off from returning in the future. read more

Tremendously irresponsible for a restaurant in a pandemic to expose guests and employees to possible COVID infection. Even restaurants in Florida, Las Vegas and Texas adhere to masking protocols. This place has a very nice patio space with a waterfall that gives the outdoor area a nice ambiance. Very pleasant server talked us through the menu. I had the black & bleu pasta, which was outstanding, a nice melange of steak tips, farfalle pasta, mushrooms, and bleu cheese, with a nice peppery zest to it. Our waitress was very attentive and kind. However, we ordered steaks medium and medium well and they came out VERY rare. So we sent them back and they fixed them. But then the potatoes were not hot anymore and they tasted very dry. They said we could have a dessert on the house because of the mistake and the dessert was nothing to talk about. The patio was nice but they wouldn't turn the heaters on for us because it had been windy earlier in the day but the wind had completely died down by late evening. I want to give them a solid 5, but I can't. The ambiance is fantastic, the food was outstanding, and our server efficient and friendly. However, the most annoying issue i have ever encountered at an upscale restaurant involved multiple staff member who patrol the tables pouncing on your empty plate, and even your partially empty plates and glasses. They are like sharks constantly walking past your table and staring at your plates. We were visiting from out of state and our daughter and granddaughter took my wife and I to Bishop's Post for a birthday dinner. My garnddaughter still had food on her plate but the busser rudely interrupted our conversation asking for her plate. I was still chewing my last bite and they grabbed my plate right out front under me. My cocktail glass was not totally empty but was snatched when i wasn't looking. I had coffee, and the cup was nearly full and only on the table 3 minutes or so and they wanted to remove the cup - before the dessert was served! It was as if they were stationed there repeating "are you finished yet? Are you finished yet? Are you finished yet?". It angered me - and it put a serious damper on our evening. I will think twice before ever returning again, despite thoroughly enjoying the food. read more

Bishop's Post is recommended by a local friend of mine. It's been open 3 weeks at the time of my visit. This place has a very nice outdoor seating area with waterfall and unique landscaping. I recommend outdoor seating if the weather permits. Food: I liked the razor clams and the wedge salad. As for the crab crakes, stay away. The crabs are not fresh, possibly from a can. I'm spoiled from being in DE, having real crab cakes so this place isn't even close. As for the entry, the Blackened Ribeye I had was terrible. The ribeye had way too much seasoning. From experience living in KC (Steak country) and dining in NYC weekly, a lot of seasoning on a steak is just covering up a bad cut of meat. If you have good quality steaks, all you need is sea salt, cracked pepper, and olive olive then grilled to perfection (just a dash of other seasoning as needed). Possibly the worst $32 steak I've ever had, I only took 2 bites. Drinks: The Moscow Mule and Manhattan are awesome. Good drinks, a bit on the weak side. Service: Exceptionally good team work. Overall: Nice atmosphere, overpriced average food, good drinks, and good service. Nothing special, try it once and done. Hope you enjoyed my brutally honest review. We were seated at our table in the main dining room, which is a very "comfy,cozy" and our waitress Nina came right over to take our drink order. She is so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the shrimp and grits they were outstanding- perfect comfort food on a cold evening. The dessert we chose (tough decision because they all looked so good) was ice cream in a "cookie cup" sort of thing with fresh whipped cream and berries on the top- amazing. I was always curious about this place because their parking lot is always packed. So I've been here couple times for a weekend lunch and dinner. Both were alright although their menu seem to be changed, which happened a lot to a lot of restaurants during Covid. For lunch we got salad and for dinner it was a calamari salad and pork shank. Now, dinner was precovid and lunch was during. Service was consistently nice, when they are busy on weekends (and we dined outside not sure if that makes any difference) service seem slower as they only had couple of servers. Again this was during Covid when everyone was struggling to keep their staff. So probably not the best measure. I would be interested in coming back here again. Their menu seem to be back to normal and from what I rmrmber drinks were fantastic I got my typical old fashioned for dinner. I will definitely update my review once I revisit. read more
