Stayed at the hotel so we decided to try the restaurant. Service was really bad and very slow. They seemed unstaffed for a Saturday night. Victor was our serviced the other night we had drinks and he was GREAT! But the server Amber was not good as all. My sweet potato fried were cold and she took so long to come back after I got my food it didn't even matter anymore. The drinks from the bar were very slow. Turkey club was very good. Definitely would not recommend you come here on a Saturday night.

Inside the Marriott, it's a hidden gem with wonderful service (Yvonne, you rock), great drinks..... decent beer selection and solid food options! The new deco is very "Miami white", so working on it for my eyes! I do like hanging here when I travel.

I walked to downtown and looked at many diff restaurants menus. MY picks of restaurants were closed on Mondays such as Machete, or Lao restaurant (which was supposed to be open but was not) i also looked at Bonchon but it was not too appetizing to me since the food seemed heavy. I also went to white and wood, but the price was ridiculous for entrees. So I ended up eating at the hotel restaurant. The service was really nice foe takeout. Salmon was good and priced at 29 dollars which is much better than 48 dollars for rack of lamb or 42 dollars for halibut at the White and Wood. Sure, the rice was bit tough, but the entree was decent.. It is a hotel restaurant, so do not expect the best but it is definitely not bad.

Had breakfast here one morning and then lunch later in the day. Bistro 40 is located inside the Greensboro Marriott. It's the best feature of the hotel - as the hotel itself is seriously dated in terms of it's condition, HVAC systems and such. I ordered an omelet with Chorizo, mushrooms, spinach, onions, and cheese, plus snagged some breakfast potatoes and a side of bacon from the buffet. The omelet was very good! I also liked the breakfast potatoes, they had a nice crust on the outside and were soft and chewy on the inside. Bacon is of course bacon! Crisp and delicious without being underdone or overcooked. The coffee was very, very good! Later in the day I was sitting in the lobby area just outside of the entrance to the restaurant - working away on my MacBook Pro. It was time for lunch - I asked the servers if I could have my lunch served out in the area I was seated - which is by the Hotel Bar. They told me yes, I ordered the Caesar salad with grilled chicken. It is served with a toasted garlic bread, and shaved Parmesan cheese for the salad. Your basic, solid, Caesar salad. Nothing fancy but I enjoyed it. Service was outstanding!

It was ok. I stayed in hotel overnight and had a continental breakfast in room. Had a short lunch break for a conference held at hotel. Staff seemed flustered with the crowd and pushed the buffet. I didn't want most of the items but the cookies looked awesome. Our order took a while considering the turkey club didn't require cooking. However, the server collecting orders from a variety of tables before putting them. The servers are very friendly and engaging. Nothing disparaging just buffet seems to be the priority. I made changes to my burger instead of mayo receiving the avocado cream intended for a chipotle Chicken wrap. Then added bacon when I am striving to join Bacon Anonymous. Burger was juice and tasted fine with all the additions. If you are here give it a try.

Overcharged....

I tried a seasonal martini, sub tequila and my mom had a creamsicle (vodka). We both enjoyed them. To eat, we both had The Granny and we shared our sides of fries and Brussels Sprouts (these had a $2 upcharge). The Granny is SOOOOO DELICIOUS!! My mom has been to Melt now 4x and keeps getting this sandwich because it's just that tasty. It's quite big and she usually comes home with half her sandwich. This was my first time and it's the kind of sandwich that'll bring me back again very soon. The fries were very good and Brussels were delicious! We did order the chocolate, peppermint cheesecake to share. It was really a piece of chocolate cheesecake (with a yummy oreo crust), topped with mint and candy canes. That's okay, though, because it was really good! The restaurant is pretty small and cozy so I can imagine there could be a wait sometimes.

I am happy to report that my last visit won me over... I now understand why so many people in Greensboro love this restaurant. It was a ridiculously cold night, and as soon as I walked in, the space looked and felt warm and inviting. I started with a cocktail, an espresso martini, and it was perfectly made. We ordered the crab dip for an appetizer, and the game changer was asking for crostini instead of the crackers they normally serve it with. I ordered the Panko crusted tuna served over wilted greens and polenta with a plum gastrique for my main dish. It was absolutely phenomenal. I loved it so much that I plan to go back within the next week or so to eat it again - it really was that delicious! My friend ordered a pasta dish which she also said was delicious. After this experience, I am definitely putting Green Valley Grill into my restaurant rotation.

We called a few days ahead and made reservations for a Friday evening, and I'm glad we did, as they were turning people away at the door when we got there because they were so busy. We were seated promptly, and our waitress came not longer after to take drink orders. She was very attentive throughout the meal, helping to provide refills on drinks, and bread. They have a good variety of options on the menu, and a nice beer menu. I got the Paella, which was good, but not the best I've had. Prices were a bit high compared to the portions which was a bit disappointing. I finished my meal all in one sitting, but do wish I had ordered something else. If/when i go back, I won't be ordering the paella. Good visit, but certainly caters to an older crown. I think a lot of what you pay for here is the name and reputation. Worth checking out.

This place is a little different, they encourage ordering a few things and sharing everything. This server helped me order a cocktail with good recommendations and also brought out a small sample of two wines my wife was deciding between. We ordered three snacks, appetizers if you will, and three plates. Each one was a culinary delight! You really have to take your time with each bite and savor all the flavors and how they compliment each other and make everything come together. Our server helped us with our choices for all of these as well. First of all, we ordered a sweet potato funnel cake, a mushroom toast, and garlic bread. Every time we took our first bite of anything we ordered, our eyes rolled in the back of our head and said "Mmmmmm!" For the plates we ordered the polenta, Wagyu flat iron steak, and Seabass. I think the server said in the polenta the onions were cooked for six hours, but no matter what, it was pretty amazing. I never thought I would be so taken by polenta, but it was rich and creamy and flavorful. The Seabass was served with a spoon, and we saw why. There was a sauce that was poured around and it collected underneath the fish. It was a saffron bouillabaisse, wonderful! The last thing we were served was the steak, and they only serve it one way, medium rare, which was perfect for me. By the way, all the plates come out as they are made ready, they don't necessarily come out at once. This ensures that it comes out fresh and hot. This also gave us a chance to savor everything one or two at a time. The server also explains what is in the dish as they bring it out, which is a really nice touch so you know what all is in it. For dessert we split the flourless chocolate cake, which was served with a dab of whipped cream I think, and olive oil ice cream, which I had never heard of before but, like everything else it was amazing! I could have just had that for dessert and been happy. We came on a Wednesday, and they were weren't a lot of people, so it was nice and quiet and somewhat dimly lit for peaceful dinner. I can't say enough about this place, and how much I want to come back!

In Greensboro, a city whose downtown once had a "hamburger square" of burger joints and related…read moreentertainment, it seems appropriate, whenever possible, to try a cheeseburger. Most have been underwhelming, or inconsistent at best. Stumble Stilskins isn't bad. The burger is the smash burger style -- not always ideal, but pretty good when done nicely, as it is here. "Crispy on the edges" it specifies in the menu, and that is accurate. The meat is also well-seasoned and not dry. Excellent! The cheese is the proper yellow American. The fries, while not hand-cut (which is fine, in this case), have been fried nicely, in fresh tasting oil, and seasoned generously. So much attention to seasoning is really appreciated. The fatal flaw of the burger is that it is apparently served on a "brioche bun." The bun is large, agonizingly dense, and weirdly sweet. In particular, when it's doing battle with the slim carefully structured and seasoned smash burger patties, the heaviness and sweetness are extremely oppressively overpowering. Now, you may say, why didn't I just not eat the bun (which would've been good for the flavor, texture, and my caloric intake)? Well, if you are, as I apparently am, genetically 2/3 sheepdog, you have no choice but to rapidly eat everything in front of you. The atmosphere isn't bad. There's not much to it -- classic bar, but neat and tidy, with TVs and little tables here and there. Not really any nooks and crannies, even in the dimmer half of the restaurant. It would probably be even better if you were drunk. The bathroom was notably clean -- though I can't imagine how chaotic it gets when the place is crowded, since it's a single-occupancy. If you're seated at one of the high top tables, be prepared to be uncomfortably close to the mustachioed open mouth of what I think is Danny McBride.
