It was our 38th Anniversary and want to go to some place we never been before and this was our choice. Walked past this place many times when in the St Joe area and never been in. We had 6:00 reservations, probably weren't needed, wasn't very busy on this Thursday night. We did have the option to be seated outside but we were a little burnt from being in the sun all day. Tyler was our server, they had him hopping, lack of staff. For starters we ordered the Crab Melt. That was very tasty, loved it. We wanted a dinner side salad, didn't see one on the menu and didn't want a full salad, so Tyler got us a Caesar side. This was huge and very good as well, unfortunately we only ate half, saving our appetite for our Entrée. Our Entrée, I ordered the Ribeye and my wife ordered Filet. Potato Risotto came with the Ribeye along with Asparagus. The Potato Risotto was very good. Asparagus and sour cream mashed came with the Filet. I was not impressed with our Entrée's, first of all the Ribeye was not prime as the menu said. I've had Prime, purchased and cooked prime. This stringy cut was not prime...It was very tasty but a little too chewy. Also, one of the asparagus that came with mine was all shriveled, should have never made it on the plate. I'm always hesitant of restaurants inside hotels, but this place is fantastic. I ordered the steak frites and my husband ordered the halibut. They were delectable. They offer a kids menu with a coloring page and crayons, too, that made us feel so welcomed. Our server Cortney was exceptional--so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were spot-on. And the seasonal blueberry crisp for dessert was outstanding. Highly recommend!! read more

We were there for a seminar and the wait staff was very nice but slow. By the time we were served our food the other half of the table was done eating. Two people sent their salmon back because it was raw on the inside. My chicken was supposed to come with potatoes and a vegetable but it came with goat cheese, some type of greens and prosciutto! To finish the meal off we were supposed to get pistachio ice cream and the ice cream looked like pistachio but the nuts were almonds! My husband and I along with two friends had dinner at the Bistro last night. We hadn't been there in a couple of years. The service, food, cocktails and atmosphere were all perfect! An amazing dining experience! We had heard a great deal about this and it exceeded our expectations. Start off the location is across the street from a phenomenal view of Lake Michigan. Great sunset adds to the ambiance of the restaurant. We made reservations and were greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. The service from all the staff especially our server was top level. Professional, knowledgeable and patient answering any questions we may have had. For starters we had the chili rubbed shrimp, cacio e pepe broccolini and bread service. You can easily get caught up in each and keep ordering more as they were just soooo good. Yet, we knew the best was to come. There were 7 of us and each had something different. Strozapretti, walleye, ribeye, filet, tournedos rissini, paccheri pasta and bistro veggie were ordered. As we each took turns bragging about we "made the best choice", all had to try a taste and with the generous portions, that was not a problem. Desserts included key lime pie, fruit cobblers and crisp. Cheryl Bernacchi and her staff have created not just a place to have a fantastic meal but dining experience that should be had over and over again. I hosted a work event at The Boulevard this past week. I initially was dealing with Tom a contracted banquet manager. After weeks of planning I tried to reach Tom with no luck. Two days prior to my event, Allison and Natalie stepped in! Allison provided me with a contract. When I arrived at the venue Natalie was there to greet me. She provided our group with exceptional service! She worked around the clock to make sure we had what we needed. Very nice view from the patio overlooking the lake. Food wise, average at best. The wife's halibut was under seasoned. The one-way, instead of two-way, duck dish I had could use some more skin crispiness and sauce. Also, first time for us having shrimp cocktail were the shrimp was sliced and mixed with the cocktail sauce, needless to say, quite disappointing. Natalie, the event coordinator recommended some outstanding meal choices as well stayed in contact with me to make sure all of our needs were would be met. Thank you Natalie helping me through the planning of our dinner. The service was absolutely flawless. The servers were friendly, engaging and very attentive to our needs. One of our servers was Nikki and she awesome. I don't remember the names of the other 2 servers but they were on point as well. The coordinating between the kitchen and wait staff was stellar as everyone in our party received their plated meals timely, hot and well prepared. The Bistro is a class act. We stayed at the Boulevard Inn for just one night. Part of our hotel package was money off of a meal at the Bistro on the Boulevard. The positive reviews of the Bistro helped me to make the decision to go with the package. To begin, we decided to order a bottle of wine and the Bistro Board with cured meats and artisanal cheeses. It was a wonderful start! We saved half of the appetizer and had it boxed to nosh later as we wanted to save our appetite for dinner. My hubby had the steak and I had the salmon. My husband and I were visiting the area and looking for an amazing dinner for our last night in town. Well let me tell you...it was beyond amazing. We arrived to a beautiful lobby, went up a few stairs and then entered the restaurant. Beautiful decor. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and if you can get Ann as your server, welcome to perfection. Appetizers, cocktails, main entrees, wine and dessert. All incredible. If you get the chance, get to the Bistro. It will not disappoint. We are 3.5 hours away in Wisconsin and will be planning a visit based on this hospitality heaven. Most likely booking a room there as well. The view of the lake is incredible. Well done Chef Cheryl! I am currently here going on 50 minutes of sitting and waiting for breakfast (biscuits and gravy).indoor seating is pretty empty. And 6 tables outside are taken. This is ridiculous how long they take to serve simple meals. Server herself took about 20 minutes to bring us 2 cups of water. When meal arrived. Eggs were cooked wrong and bacon was not "smoked". I was then given the check within a minute of receiving our food. Not allowing me to get more food or even enjoy my meal at that point. This is outrageous read more

Haven't been here for years but friends were visiting from out of town and we went because it was close by. What a great time we had! The four of us had one of the best dining experiences ever! The dining room had been redone and looked great. The server was fantastic - friendly, attentive, efficient. The food was creative and perfectly prepared and presented. I wanted to like this place. I did. In fact- it was my suggestion that brought us here as a co-worker had highly recommended it. But Bistro on the Boulevard let me down on a number of fronts. Let me start with the good things. The location on the front of the hotel, high atop the bluff, overlooks Lake Michigan. At least if you look through the trees you can see the Lake. Also- there was a $29 prix fixe menu which had its ups and downs but the cherry tart for dessert was a definite up-as was the warm roll served with butter or herbed ricotta cheese. As for the rest of our evening . . . .this place could use a little work. Our salads of baby greens had several brown and wilted pieces in it. And the balsamic dressing was so thick it stuck to your fork. I ordered the meatloaf and it was hard to say what it tasted like as it was drowning in some thick gravy that had an odd flavor to it. My friend had the tuna steak grilled rare which was good- but really lacked any flavor with the soba noodles and smidge of vegetables that came along with it. We were seated on the porch which should have been nice. However, the ceiling fan above us was broken, which was too bad as a slight draft from that might have kept the mosquitos at bay. As it was- I'm quite sure my ankles and arms provided a small feast for all the mosquitos in St. Joseph. The service was non existent. There was no salt and pepper on the tables- yet no one asked if we wanted any. The grinders were there at the serving station but we couldn't seem to get anyone's attention to assist us. We tried several times to get the server's attention to return a glass of wine that was brought to us that was obviously old, but no one ever came back to the table. All in all- there aren't alot of places to eat in St. Joseph- at least nice places. This place could be nice- it just needs a new chef and some re-training of the staff. Given the prices that they charge, I expected more. read more

The Boulevard is a fine choice for dinner while in St. Joseph. The service both times I've been there has been quite excellent. The menu has a number of options with something to please most palettes. The food does tend to be heavy and rich with lots of butter and/or olive oil, so healthy options are not the specialty. That being said, the mushroom starter is tasty and there are some nice wines. The meal is paced for a relaxed meal, so if you want a quick and light bite it's probably not your spot. It's one of the only more upscale places in town and not a bad place to eat alone if you're traveling. read more

Five stars. If there was six, I would hit that one too. But, 6 + 5 = 11. They were that good. Note sure. About the negative remarks. I am glad I choose to ignore them. I would have missed a perfect meal which started off with a Basil Haden. Then move on to the Clam Chowder which was probably one of the best I ever had. Very meaty and full of flavor. My entree was Sea Bass. Out standing. There Chef knows what he is doing. There was what appeared to be a small red patato, but it turn out to be surprise: A pan sauté totmato. Out standing. Then Kayla brings out the desert, Rhubarb Crisp, YUM YUM. The meal was perfectly balanced. Full but not stuff. Soooo, the next best thing, this bistro is part of the hotel. No more driving home tonight. :-) Next time I am in Michigan, I will plan a stop here again. You should too if you have the time. You wont' be sorry. read more

Visiting St. Joseph for a quick overnight B&B and didn't realize how few restaurants in town are open on Sunday! But that ended up being a good thing, because we happened up on Bistro on the Boulevard. The view, as you can imagine, was impressive. We sat outside admiring the nearby veterans' memorials, and the people playing near the beach and at the splash pad. The cocktail menu was impressive - and my ginger bourbon fizz was delicious as well as very well presented. My companion's patio punch was great as well (and packed a punch - definitely a sipper!) For appetizer, we chose cornmeal crusted oysters, since we're both huge oyster fans. It was good, but not great - the corn meal was kind of thick and its crusted flavor overwhelmed the flavor of the oysters a bit. The oysters also came on a large bed of greens - but in general I would like a bite of wilted greens per bite of oyster, and the ratio was tiled too heavily towards greens. The spicy sauce that came with them was good, but I think the dish could have used some type of citrus. Here is my big complaint - the place was less than half full, but from the time we finished our appetizer until the time when our entrees showed up at the table was more than FORTY MINUTES. That's forty minutes of sitting and waiting - making the total time for dinner more than an hour and a half. Fortunately the view was great, because the children at the table next to us yelling about Pokemon Go got old pretty quickly. The entrees really shone. I had the diver scallops (which came with more wilted greens - spinach this time, but it tasted like what was under the oysters). The quinoa and strawberries, paired with the scallops, made for an absolutely phenomenal bite. My companion ordered rack of lamb and garlic&greens as a side. I definitely don't need to eat any type of wilted greens for a few months! The rack of lamb was fabulous as well. The service was good - frequent refills, and he checked on our table frequently. It's hard to overcome the damage done by the kitchen taking so long with our entrees, though. Overall, the quality of the entree saved a mediocre appetizer and horrific wait for the meal. However, since I was coming from out of town, I don't think I could justify a return visit the next time I visit St. Joseph. read more

Excellent service and the view is great. The food was excellent - a bit pricy but worth it. The small plates we ordered actually were bigger than I expected - we ordered two- the corn cakes (loved them) and calamari and had enough to take home. My friend also ordered the black angus filet and he said it was very good. The bread basket is great and loved the herb butter pats that accompioned them. We went through two baskets. Good wine and beer list. Nice for a nice evening dinner or romanic date night. read more

The service was great (I wish I remembered her name!), they had a good selection of drinks which we all enjoyed, and our meals (the halibut, various other fish, burger, spin dip, beef bolognese) were delicious! A very nice restaurant on the top of the bluff overlooking Silver Beach, with French cuisine. We came​ in seeing a $15 wine and cheese pairing and stayed for a bite. I enjoyed a tomato bisque soup with some lovely bread and had a decent wedge salad. My partner said she'd come back just for the French onion soup alone, but didn't really enjoy her galette, though we both weren't familiar with it, so perhaps it's a matter of no expectations meeting reality. We finished with macrons to go which were delightful. Excellent, attentive, and thoughtful service, and two little macrons came with the bill for dinner (in addition to the macrons we ordered). We'll be back for $5 martinis! We came a few weeks later for brunch, which we enjoyed though we found the mimosas lacking some of the punch we'd've liked. They have a homemade pop tart that was pretty looking but otherwise a little disappointing, but pomme frites were perfect, and my french toast with creme fraiche came in a cast iron skillet was very good. In any case, it is a nicer, quieter restaurant with fancy cuisine (read: a bit pricey) with a view over the bluff and ample parking. read more
