Tonight I went to this bjs with my boyfriend, and as soon as we walked through the door it was downhill from there. The hostess in the front was a blonde girl, whose name I believe was Abby. She was super rude, did not greet me or my boyfriend, we stood in front of her desk waiting to be assisted for about 3 minutes, with no one ahead of us, and she proceeded to look at us, look down, then look back up and say "did you guys need something ?" With an attitude. As customers we should be welcomed with a "Hi! how can I help you?" That's basic common courtesy and work etiquette. When we proceeded to tell her table for 2, she rolled her eyes and, continued to be super short with us and rude. After waiting about 30 minutes for a table for 2, I got up and asked the hostess if our table was ready, she then said that it had been ready. We were waiting longer than we should have to be seated when we were sitting in the waiting area the entire time without her telling us our table was ready. Overall our first impression walking into Bjs was unacceptable, and you should consider having a more welcoming face in the front, to greet guests as they come. Someone with that attitude should be working in the back, or not working in customer service at all. Other than that our waitress was super sweet and welcoming , but that's about it. read more

The food and service at this BJ's are great! We visit BJ's for their consistency when traveling, and this restaurant has never disappointed. We sat in the restaurant for lunch and had amazing service! I can't remember our servers name, but she was awesome!! Our tortilla soup was hot and delicious, and the wedge sald was cold and crisp. I love coming to this BJ's. I've never really had bad service for no reason here. The service may be a tad slow on the water refills but it's usually because it's super crowded when I come. The food here is never disappointing. I maybe had overcooked calamari once, but I haven't had that since. The calamari is usually cooked so well! The bite is amazing! My favorite dish is the seared ahi salad. It's always delicious! And the tuna is always seasoned very well. I usually opt in to the avocado egg rolls, but I noticed they have gotten smaller over time. (Not just at this location, but at the other ones I've been to) Pizookies are never a miss! My partner and I booked a reservation, got seated pretty quickly when we came in. The place was pretty busy with almost every table filled but it was a moderate noise level. We had to wait after our food came out for utensils. Server didn't stop by so I had to go ask someone for them as our food was getting cold. I ordered the Tri tip combo with baby back ribs. The Tri tip was perfect and the ribs were alright. She ordered the Brewhouse bowl which had a lot of flavor and tasted fresh. For desert we ordered the Peanut Butter S'mores Pizookie. I'd only been to one other BJ's before and had a bad experience with it. The other location was in Maryland, and between the bad service and the pizza giving me heart burn, I wasn't excited about trying another one. The only reason we did was because it was close to the hotel we were staying. Just like the Maryland location, this one was very nice and clean on the inside. We sat at a table near the bar, and received much better service here. I had a chicken alfredo dish while my friend had a burger with fries. We both enjoyed our meals, and neither of us got heart burn this time. I even got 3 6-packs of craft beer to go, which I shared with another friend when I got home. This location restored my faith in the BJ's franchise. I just won't return to the Maryland location. read more

I absolutely enjoy eating at BJ'S Restaurant. We arrive between 4&5 pm..wait time is not bad at all. Our service is good but they can get busy from time to time I have had the Prime Rib Dip with fries last month so good & yummy. This last Friday I ordered one of my favorites the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad. It was just as I remember it from the last time I ordered it which was back when we went to the Wild Animal Park for Halloween. BJ's ranch dressing is very good to dip fries in. Yum. BJ'S ice tea is a must order because it is so good. Oh my goodness! I usually don't order dessert but at BJ'S l look forward to it. The CHURRO PIZOOKIE dessert is a home run for me. Yum yum yum. Let me just start with this, when I plan to go out Bj's normally doesn't land on my radar. I'm generally a fan of local owned mom and pop restaurants. That was until tonight... my sister and I decided to take our elderly father out to eat for the first time since the pandemic. We tried first to eat at a local restaurant, but they couldn't accommodate social distancing etc. Now, we are all vaccinated, but have recently added two infants to our family and and one of my nephews has a compromised immune system and cannot be vaccinated because he is only 6. The only restaurant that we could think of with a patio on a Monday was Bj's. So we went. My hopes weren't high. I walked in and explained the situation to the wait staff and and hostesses who were so understanding and reasonable. They went far above expectations and and worked a team to present to us a solution. A charming young associate, Izzy, stepped forward and explained to me that they were going to seat us in a closed potion of their patio and that she, though not a server(she is a food runner and busser), would do her best by waiting on us while also doing her duties. To watch the servers come together and assist at times was incredible. Izzy made our night memorable and special; we are so grateful. Btw, she was an incredible server. She listened, made excellent suggestions and even remembered to make sure my Dads iced tea never ran out. Choices these employees made to service their clients and their teamwork to make that happen are a direct representation of the strength and talents of their leadership teams. Congratulations to your manager, well done! I'd personally kill for a Izzy on my team or for any one of the servers and hostesses you have. She suggested, which was epic, and I'm picky, the Brussel Sprout Salad with Blackened Salmon! So good! My sister and Dad shared the Brussel Sprout with Chipotle appetizer and both said it was good. We also shared the Avocado rolls, but I'm assuming we've all had them and know it's yummy. They also shared some rib thing and loved it. We had no intention of ordering dessert, but we were having such a beautiful time and Izzy suggested we get one of their cookie ice cream things. I forget how to spell the name of it... but we couldn't come up with a flavor. Izzy suggested we try the White Chocolate Macadamia Nut one since none of us had tried it before... phenomenal! She also introduced to us the rewards system and their Beer Club which sounds super cool. I took information about it home but as writing this I'm 100% certain I will be joining. i took my neighbor to bjs last night for her "82" bday .....she wanted to sit out on the patio so at 510pm we arrived...the hostess said "just go out there and somebody will be with you"...we sat there waiting for almost 10 minutes with "no menus, no water, no waiter...i had to go inside and get our own menus which were "filty" from food stuck on several pages...gross ..waiter came out and brought water ....friend ordered the marg with gran marnier float and i ordered a glass of red wine...she ordered a hamburger and i ordered sirloin with shrimp scampi with mashed potatoes and asparagus...upon arrival the potatoes were cold and the asparagus was hard as a rock so i told the waiter and he brought me more potatoes and another side of asparagus...it was thin and very chewy/stringy...upon looking around the patio area the windows were filthy with cobwebs and finger prints plus a distinct smell of bad plumbing...our check with a $20 tip was almost $100.00...we sat there with dirty dishes/glasses, etc. ..i will never go there again!!! the waiter was good just to slammed to take care of the inside as well as the outside patio ....shame on bjs!!! and a distinct smell of bad plumbing (sewer)... read more

Easter dinner was a hit here tonight! I know a lot of people who aren't fans of this place, but I think it's perfect for everyone! The menu is huge so it makes choosing what to order tricky! I decided to try something new today and went with a medium cooked tri tip. The flavor on this bad boy was great. Perfect smokiness with a hint of sweetness from the barbecue sauce. It was cooked exactly as I requested. I got this with some mashed potatoes and asparagus. Both were great. We just had to order some dessert and we just love those pizookies! We love the pizookie trio because you can get 3 different flavors and it makes everyone happy. Our server Andrea killed it! Paid attention to our table of 20, got all our orders correct, drinks were kept full and made sure our table was happy. I've attended and held many events here and I've never not enjoyed it! Visited this location while visiting my son at SDSU. I have to say that my server Joel was amazing! When you imagine what excellent service looks like, it's Joel...like Billie Joel. This guy rocks!!! UPDATE: I came back for another dinner. Put drink order in and it took 30 minutes for a cup of water. I had to see the hostess since no one came to give us even our waters. I think the waiter went on lunch break after taking our drink order. Also medium pizza still not available. They want us to pay 50% more for a large. I used to like coming here regularly, but it is absolute insanity that a pizza place can be out of medium sized pizzas for like 6 months already , yet still have it on the menu. Either take it off the menu or trim down the dough a bit from the large to make a medium? No waiter or waitress there has been able to tell me why I can't order a medium off the menu. Sunday fun day at BJ's nothing went right appatizer cold twice, ordered off the happy hour menu the chicken tenders hot and amazing th onion strings ice cold twice. The classic burger as well ordered it well done it came out rare. I waited about 20 minutes trying to get someone's attention finally it was put in again and I waited an additional 30 minutes or more for it. Also ordered a beer took 30 minutes to get it. The waitress didn't check on us until she saw us looking bored and said, "I'll check on your food right now." My 13 year old said, "I bet our food has been ready." My friends and I went to this restaurant and my bill came up to $173 I used my credit card and signed the receipt. When I got my statement I was charged $233. It was 5 of us. So, we waited the waitress never came back. I know this can't be the first time this waitress has done this. I don't have the receipt, but I'm filling a fraudulent claim with my bank as we speak. If she was gonna charge me gratuity that's still doesn't add up. And how was she able to change the charge amount. I am giving this place 4 stars because the last couple of times we came here, we had decent service. We came here tonight for that reason. However, the lady behind the bar seemed too busy in on her phone and didn't pay attention to what was going on and it took a long time for us to be able to order food or close out. There were a couple of regulars there and one was very nice. The other one was obnoxiously drunk. Clearly he was over served and she continued to serve him. I was so uncomfortable that I moved and that's how I met the other regular person who was so nice: We also reached over to get red peppers because the bartender wasn't back for so long that the pizza was getting cold. Placed an online order and left early bc they usually are early. Historically, food has been great! They make it easy. I arrived to pick up my order, and long story short there must have been a glitch in the system bc they never got my order, although I had my credit card charged. We go here about 4-5 times a year and must say it never disappoints. The wait can be long, but most of the time it is 15-20minutes. If you don't want to wait, just have your meal in the bar area. My favorite thing to order is their chicken Parmesan. It is always moist and has a super crispy breading. The serving size is also huge, you get two big pieces of chicken parmesan, huge scoop of mashed potatoes and a huge scoop of veggies. We always end our meal with a pizookie. This review is a bit late, but better late than never. BJ's was one of the restaurants participating in the Veteran's Day specials, so I went to this location with my sister and brother-in-law because the wait for the Chula Vista location was too long. The Vet's special at BJ's was a free entree (for up to $12.95) and a free beer. My bro-in-law got a deep dish pizza and was going to pay the difference, my sister got a flatbread, and I got a burger. The food took a really, really long time to get to us. We waited patiently, and we understood how busy it was, but our waiter didn't really check up on us. Other people got their food before us, as well. Not to mention, our waiter took a long time to get us our waters, and forget to give us our lemons despite us asking several times. He even had the chance when he gave us our appetizer, but forgot. The food was delicious, and we were all very satisfied. The main problem was the customer service. Davis was our server, and not only did he not check on us a lot, he messed up on the bill multiple times. He failed to do the Vet's special (for the entree and the beer), so we had to remind him. Also, he didn't make one of the beers free. Then it was the wrong entree that he took the money off of. There were multiple mistakes, but after having him fix it (and take long to pick up the check), we just let it be. Another note! When we called the Chula BJ's location, the person who answered the phone was sweet and you could hear the smile in her voice. Whereas when calling the Grossmont BJ's location, the girl who answered sounded rude and impatient. Although it's busy, customer service is still a thing.
