Tonight we had Shay a beautiful Trainee being supervised by Nigel. Both were awesome. We started with the Mozzarella Sticks and the Avocado Egg Rolls. Both were really good as usual. I then had the All American Smash Burger with Cheddar Cheese and bacon added. It's two smashed patties and they it was really good. For dessert I had my bday Pizookie, the Salted Caramel with Vanilla Ice Cream and Chocolate Chips. It was really good also. I definitely did not need the sugar but wow. My friend had the Pork Chip which was cooked to perfection and had veggies and asparagus instead of potato's. She also had a salad with ranch and all was good. This is one of our favorite spots for family dinners! They have a great menu, with something for everyone. My kids love their kids meals, which come with a bag of goldfish and a cup of fruit that arrive before the food comes. They also have kid menus to color on. There are a ton of TV's to watch sports on. My favorite dish is the salmon with broccoli and rice. It comes with a creamy white sauce that has a lemony taste to it. I absolutely love BJs - no question. I did want to leave a new review to advise NOT to get their new lemon pepper sesame wings. Sadly, BJs corporate has removed the root beer glazed wings from the menu and they've been replaced with a lemon pepper wing and some other flavors. I ordered a combo of honey bbq and lemon pepper. Disappointed would be an understatement. My server advised the wings are baked THEN fried. That explained the lack of crunch they held. The wings also lacked lemon pepper flavor. My review remains at 5 stars because BJs is a great restaurant chain with a variety of options and it's affordable. Spoke to Wayne, manager, if they would still honor the gift card we were promised via email but never got and he did it no issues so that was already good for us. We were missing so many things from our last take out, we were just hoping we'd actually get everything this time around. Food was ready for pick up, Geovany was very helpful on the phone when I placed our order and when I got there. He checked all the bags and made sure everything was included. My daughter and I had a rare evening out without my grandson and my hubby! We decided on a fun dinner watching football (Niners and Hawks) so we picked a bar booth at BJs close to home. You know what you're getting when you order and tonight we had steak (her) and prime rib (me). It's not top of the line beef but it's good. We enjoyed our meals even though both pieces of meat were a little tough, they tasted good. A crazy big baked potato and of course we started with the Siracha Brussels sprouts. They're not friendly like they used to be and they don't check back on you like they used to as a matter of fact our server was sweating so bad she was wiping the sweat from her face while we were ordering it was kind of gross. They also have handcrafted sodas: root beer, orange cream or black cherry. The food is decent. The quality & flavor is usually lacking the last three visits I have eaten here. Nothing to write home about but they have pasta dishes, burgers, salads, steak. A little something for everyone. Tuesdays is $5 Pizookies. They also have a $13 pizookie meal deal-you choose an entree from a select menu it includes a personal pizookie or you can upgrade a full size for $4. We dined with a party of about twenty people. Our server Shakira (not pronounced like the singer, but Sha-ky-ra), was very good & patient. I just left BJs and it's all I can do to keep my food down, so far. I had the RoastBeef Dip and it was inedible. The au jus was incredibly salty and tasteless. Apparently this place was the go to spot for pazooki night. The high school kids were coming in huge groups to get this deal, which isn't a big deal, except it does keep the servers running around constantly and they seem a little overwhelmed. I had the Parmesan crusted chicken, which unfortunately came out cold. My wife had the tri tip which was also cold, and my group also had a pizza that didn't come out until well after the rest of the group had finished eating. Unfortunately there wasn't much more than a "sorry about that" for the error. The ambiance leaned heavily on dim lighting, creating a darker atmosphere than I prefer--I like to clearly see and enjoy the food in front of me. That said, the overall vibe was easygoing, making it a comfortable spot to hang out with friends over a meal and a beer or even for a casual family dinner. Service, however, was a bright spot. Our main server was friendly, and the rest of the team who assisted throughout the meal were just as pleasant. Our appetizers came out quickly, though we did have to wait a bit for utensils. We started with the crispy calamari, which had a nice crunch without being greasy and a tender interior, but the lemon pepper sesame seasoning didn't quite come through--I was expecting a bit more flavor. The marinara felt fairly standard, and the garlic aioli leaned subtle. The spinach and artichoke dip was underwhelming and noticeably salty. The chips had a good crunch, but lacked flavor and tasted a bit like cardboard. For entrées, we ordered the Parmesan-crusted chicken with lemon Chardonnay butter sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, white cheddar mashed potatoes, and steamed broccoli. The chicken was lightly crusted and not greasy, but the sauce was nearly nonexistent. The Parmesan, sun-dried tomatoes, and basil felt more like a garnish than a true component of the dish. The mashed potatoes were smooth with a subtle flavor, while the broccoli was simply steamed and lacked seasoning--I had to add salt and pepper myself. For a dish like this, I look for a sauce that ties everything together, and that was missing here. We also tried the All-American smashed burger with fries--two beef patties, American cheese, lettuce, pickles, signature sauce on a brioche bun. The fries were a standout--served hot with that satisfying crunch and just the right amount of seasoning. The burger itself, however, was fairly ordinary and on the dry side. The sauce didn't add much--there was very little of it, and what was there left an aftertaste I didn't care for. That said, I did enjoy the root beer float and the fries, which ended the meal on a better note. Everyone's experience can differ--this was just mine, so I'd say try it and see for yourself. Since moving to the north side of town, this restaurant has been on my list. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. We were seated rather quickly but the table we were sat at was extremely sticky. Additionally the chair legs felt flimsy and wobbly like they could break any minute. HOWEVER -- your staff's hospitality was so amazing that I forgave everyone immediately. Consider it an emotional surcharge paid in kindness. Rose deserves her own paragraph because she repeatedly wished me Happy Valentine's with so much cheerful energy I felt like I was in a romantic movie montage. At one point I was ready to hug strangers and propose to a bread basket. She made the night feel extra special and warm. THE FOOD. Oh. My. Ribs. We ordered a full rack, and let me tell you -- these ribs did not come to play. They came to WIN. Tender? Yes. Flavorful? Absolutely. That crunchy barbecue exterior? UNFORGETTABLE. If these ribs had a fan club, I would be president. By the end of dinner, our table looked like a delicious crime scene -- empty bowls everywhere, no survivors. Hands down the BEST ribs in town. I would fight a bear for them. Not a big bear... but definitely a medium one. Timing was also impressive. We were there about 45 minutes from start to finish, which during peak Valentine's chaos (a.k.a. Lovebird Season) is basically Olympic-level efficiency. The restaurant was packed with couples gazing lovingly into each other's eyes while silently judging each other's dessert choices -- yet everything ran smoothly. BJ's was READY.
