A fun bar located right downtown. Not a bad spot to drop out of the shopping excursion to grab yourself a cold one. They stay open slightly later than the rest of downtown establishments. The locals that were there during our visit were engaging and fun to chat with. The owner is good people and accommodating to the customer. She was willing to keep the kitchen open later if we wanted dinner. We just had the large pretzel and it hit the spot with a cold beer.

Pretzel, the way it was delivered to the table. Yes, missing a part?

Service was subpar. Our bartender was certainly busy, but that doesn't excuse a lackadaisical attitude. My $10 drink (momma bear) was supposed to come with a sugared rim, but didn't. Not a huge deal, but just added to the overall service. We order 2 pretzels along with 2 sausage platters. The sausage platters came out first (about 20-25 minutes after our 15 minute wait to place the order) and our pretzels came out 10-15 minutes after that (my friends husband and mine were almost done eating by the time my friend and I received our pretzels). Not a place I would recommend to visit.

Blue ridge is always super crowded on the weekends so we knew where ever we went there would be a wait. Though we just wanted some beers so stopped in here. We ordered at the bar and struck up a nice conversation with the bartender and cook. They gave food recommendations then we ordered and sat down. The food was delicious and pretty quick. We didn't leave a thing on our plates. The Bloody Mary was also very good. We decided to go back again for drinks on Saturday. Again it was very busy and the kitchen was closed. So we chatted and grabbed drinks at the bar and sat outside on the back patio. Again we had a really nice time. I know the reviews are mixed. Maybe give it a go. Just take into consideration that it's a tourist town and they will probably be busy. ALSO GET THE BOLOGNA SANDWICH :)

Rob is awesome. Pretzels are German Style perfection. Fun cocktails. Good local beer options.

Good place for a solid beer in a bar environment. Staff was super friendly. Did not get food, just got an afternoon beer and enjoyed it.

I really like their German beers. Goes great with a warm giant German pretzel and the beer cheese spread that is excellent.

We tend to seek out Polish food when on vacation and were pleasantly surprised and will return when we return to the Helen area!

We never received our waters, food was served on paper plates, pierogi platter had only 3 real pierogi, the other 4 have a mushroom sauerkraut filling. The potato filling was lumpy and the pasta was undercooked. Won't be returning

Both delicious, German potato salad was great, red cabbage unique but very good and same with the Sauerkraut. This is going to sound like I lost my mind. The Riesenbrezel, big pretzel. Herb butter and beer cheese, one of the best things I've had in a long time. Crazy, but it was delicious. Like the rest of Helen, beautiful place clean and well maintained.

The Jägerschnitzel featured a perfectly crisp pork cutlet smothered in a rich, earthy mushroom gravy loaded with mushrooms and just the right amount of cream. The spaetzle was buttery and tender, and the potato pancakes were crispy around the edges with a soft, savory center. Pair them with the applesauce and sour cream for the full experience. The German potato salad was easily one of the best I've had, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of tang, and the sweet and sour red cabbage was the ideal companion to the rich schnitzel. We also sampled several traditional sausages, each with its own distinct flavor and snap. Everything tasted homemade, comforting, and true to its German roots. Add in the charming Bavarian atmosphere and a genuinely warm, attentive server, and it felt like a little trip to Germany without leaving North Carolina. I'll absolutely be back. Bring your appetite!

THIS was my favorite place of the stay, and the most authentic. You sit at benches/picnic tables, the food is spaetzle and schnitzel, the drinks are reasonable and the feel is pure German. If you have ONE stop, do Bodensee...and if you're staying for the weekend, make this your last meal. Highly recommended!!

Staff here is lovely. Even though we got here one busy night, everyone was attentive to what we wanted. The little one got a chicken tender plate with fries and a side of veggies, and my husband and I split the platter for two. Our waitstaff forgot our veggies, but quickly helped resolve this when we brought it up. The veggies came out tasting delicious. The platter for two was great, tons of meats and a great side dish of gut friendly foods. I wish the sauce was on the side, but it was a nice flavor. The reason for 3 stars was the musical entertainment. I wish there was an option for 3.5 stars, I don't think 4 stars accurately represents this restaurant. The musicians were so talented and got us all excited to be there. It was great to hear some guests know some songs, which added a unique atmosphere to this restaurant. We'd def go back, but prefer another German restaurant when visiting Helen.
