Very disappointing. Our waiter was very nice but seemed overwhelmed by his responsibilities. It took 45 minutes to get drinks and another 40 minutes to get our entrees, which were delivered to us piecemeal instead of all at once (there were 4 of us). I specifically requested Caesar salad with NO croutons - said it twice - but it was delivered 10 minutes AFTER I received my entree PLUS it came with croutons! One more comment - the music was deafening. We had to pretty much yell at each other to be heard. We asked if it could be turned down, but got no response. Wonderful experience! Everyone is always so friendly and helpful, and the food is marvelous! Their gluten free options are phenomenal. It's a real treat to have so many delicious options to choose from. We always try something new each visit. At most restaurants we just order an entree and that's it, but at Blackie's we always get appetizers, entrees and split a dessert. There are too many items we want to try. Recently ordered take out from Blackie's! I've also dined in at the restaurant on two occasions. The food is delicious. They have a unique menu with many, many options for all preferences! However, we had family visiting from another state wanting to try Blackie's, so we gave it another chance. Now I remember why we didn't want to come back. What a major disappointment! Some of the utensils were dirty or missing, service was extremely slow, and food was blah in every way from plating, portions, temperature and taste. Blackies is definitely the best restaurant in the area. Food is fantastic and they are extremely accommodating to allergies and special requests. It's a little pricey but it's always delicious. We enjoy eating at the bar or getting takeout. My one complaint is that it's absolutely hideous inside! I would have loved to have one of my birthday dinners or even my bridal shower here but it's so ugly like lime green walls and weird black stained wood. I always wish it was a little bit of a cuter or more clean/neutral vibe because it is the best food around, I'd want to use them more for special events. read more

A celiac person's dream restaurant. Everything is made to order and can be made Gluten Free. The Ricotta spread and bread is amazing! Probably a dish worth driving for. I typically stick to the sandwiches. The steak and cheese was delicious. I've had the regular pizza here and I'm not thrilled with the crust, but I'm picky with my pizzas. Cool vibe and good food. Based on the photos and menu I saw online, dinner was exactly what I expected for this type of restaurant. Unique and higher quality food, but priced too high because of the small portions. I would need to spend $70 to get somewhat full. When the chicken Marsala stuffed mushrooms app came out, I got a pit in my stomach because it was so small and it's $17!! Although I have to say, it was very tasty with a legit sauce. My brother and I swapped half of our sandwiches. We shared the chimi chopped cheese ($18) and the Reuben ($20). The Reuben was done very well, but small and not stuffed enough. The chopped cheese was excellent. So juicy and like the Reuben, it did not have enough meat and I wish it was larger for the price. Also, the plantain makes no sense in this sandwich. It ruined the one bite with it. Seems like blackies is trying to be too innovative adding that in there. Only the desserts are worth the price for their taste and portions. I got the carrot cake ($10) after seeing it ordered a lot online and it did not disappoint! The cake itself was my favorite part and the dessert was large. The mousse was bomb, but the whipped cream was too thin and had no taste. Also, the carrot cake would have been on another level if they doused it with that amazing sauce that they scarcely put on the bottom. I tried a bite of my brother's cheesecake ($10) which was also really good. It had a cookie and brownie crust with vanilla cheesecake. I would have given a 3, but their taste, quality, atmosphere and service warranted a 4. Portions are brutal though. read more

Food is great, but we won't be back. Multiple dead bugs in a glass of water served to my wife. Emailed them about it (after speaking to manager there) and they deemed this incident not worthy of a reply. There was literally a dead bug floating right on top of ice. The lack of attention from the server made sure we got to see it though! It was Super Bowl Sunday around 1 p.m. and it was empty. They are always very busy due usually has a wait to be seated, however the owners created a nice outdoor patio with corn hole, fire pits, and a bar to enjoy while waiting to be seated. The restaurant is very dark. The service is usually always great. They have a wide variety of menu items with something for everyone. The buffalo chicken dip is a must for the appetizers and you can choose between tortilla chips or potato chips for the buffalo chicken dip. I always opt for half tortilla and half potato chips to mix it up and be able to try both. read more

Love when a restaurant offers an option to beef hamburger. I had the Apple Pie Burger with a turkey patty. The apple, pear and cherry compote had the right amount of tart with some chunks that married well with the turkey. The bun was soft but held up to eating the entire burger. My son and I went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it - would have rated it at five stars! We enjoyed it so much that we decided to go back again just a week later and our experience wasn't as good at that time. The service was slow. We sat there for a very long time waiting for our food. Drinks were left empty and the waitress and her trainee really didn't check on us often. It was busy, but there was a table open so I don't know why we were kind of neglected. Also, I don't really like the new thing restaurants are doing where they ask you if you want a side of anything for your fries, you say yes and then next thing you know there's a two dollar charge on the bill. They should definitely let you know if there is going to be a charge for things That never used to be charged for many years. As somebody with gluten intolerance, I love Blackies. I suggest it to everyone. That being said sometimes there's some quality control issues, especially with takeout. I've had done gristley steak tips, and twice I've ordered dessert and they have forgotten to pack the ice cream -which seems like a small touch but when you're eating cookies and cream bread pudding, it kind of feels essential. But I have family in the restaurant biz and I get it stuff happens, and overall love my experiences here. I wish their carnitas bowl was available yr round, honestly my favorite dish. Their pizza, apps, cocktails are all fantastic and the ability to built your own clean meal is exactly what I need sometimes when I've got goals and don't want anything heavy! Always loved it here! Sunday March 8 bartenders were awful. We do not complain ever but I thought if it were my business I'd want to know. I tried to find a 'contact us' on the website to let them know how bad the service was but couldn't find so here we are. Got first drinks espresso martinis and ordered an app. App comes very shortly after we could use another drink especially because no water. They normally always give water first thing there. Brown haired female bartender would come all around our area never make eye contact or even look at our drinks to see if needed and they were empty for so long. Reg food came finally girl that was working the high tops asked us if we wanted another. Food was not up to par either for them very unusual. My spaghetti squash baked ziti was very crunchy and short rib ramen so salty it tasted like table salt. My husband had short rib ramen and had like hardly any short rib. Very disappointing. We are very good cash tippers too! Haven't had that bad of service in a long time anywhere and we are bar eaters. Love to eat at the bar! Normally the best service. Despite a little hickup, my time here with my family was delightful. Staff was friendly, courteous, welcoming. We opted for a table on the outdoor patio and I'm so happy we did! Tasteful and warm decorating, and the fall touches were especially cute. Food was stellar! The sheer variety (and quality with such a variety in mind) was impressive, but everything came across as cohesive, fresh, and modern. If you have sensitivities, allergies, intolerances, you know just how difficult it can be to go out, eat, and *enjoy* the experience. One of the worst experiences in a while. planned a nice dinner and after that it all went down hill. Our salads were tasteless, the Burger came to the table with a soggy bun and when we requested a replacement the server didn't know if it was possible. After several minutes of waiting (while my food was getting cold) they returned with a whole bun, then had the audacity to CHARGE us for it! $3 to replace the soggy bun you serveried us! I have multiple food, allergies and have eaten safely at Blackies's a few times before on the patio. The food was good. I felt they were very conscientious of making my food allergy safe. However, this past Sunday with this false sense of security, I ordered food for takeout. I ordered the same food that I usually get in the restaurant, and specified very clearly, my allergies. We hit Blackie's on Sunday for lunch with friends. The queer-o-meter is a perfect 10! WTG! Yay! Go be free and eat up a storm! It hit way above my expectations. I went in not knowing much about the place, since I had only gone once way before the pandemic at different location. And I have to admit it was great. My wife recently has been diagnosed with several food allergies- dairy, gluten and eggs being the top. She's vegetarian too, which complicates it further. This place knocked it out of the park! We got the buffalo vegan dip with GF tortilla chips, the Mediterranean platter with GF pita and extra GF pita on the side. Good size servings and coming from a non allergy meat eater they were bangin! Full of flavour and great textures. Our friends got a salad with quinoa and a smoky chicken Sandwich with fries. They let me try it and also SO. GOOD. As for cocktails she got a margarita and our friends got some specialty drink - I don't remember the name but both said they were delish. I got a Bloody Mary and to preface my review of it, I'm a Bloody Mary snob. It was "meh". Not bad but not really worth writing home about. It lacked depth for me -worcestershire sauce, horseradish and Tabasco. That's my only con. The server was friendly and attentive.
