Stopped by for lunch today with my coworkers, a party of seven out on the patio. Today was a beautiful day but the service was mediocre. Not sure what the problem was but our food took way too long to come out! We arrived around noon and didn't get our entire meal until around 1:15. They brought us a 5 of 7 plates (1 was wrong), it took about 10-12 minutes for the other two. Joe was great, kept our glasses full, the salsa and the guacamole were great and the chips were great. I ordered the short rib machaca chimichanga, opted out of the beans and got more rice. It was good, still hot but the rice was definitely not what I expected. I thought I would get Spanish rice but it was just buttered rice with corn so I didn't eat it. Not sure I'd go back because I'd heard such great things but I'm not sure it would even be worth it. read more

Great indoor and outdoor seating. This is not authentic Mexican food, if that's what you're looking for. Indoor is very trendy and overall all the food came out very tasty. Came for a weekend lunch and took 15 minutes to get seated. The chimichangas portion is massive! Loved the seasoning of the meat and the variety of sides. Very easily shareable. Awesome service and awesome food. We are from Phoenix and service is usually subpar in Tucson. However, can't say that about Blanco. The steak fajitas recommended by the bartender were so good and the margarita was great. We will have to visit one up by us now that we had such a great experience here! read more

My birthday at Blanco's is one I'd like to forget. I ordered the veggie fajitas and it was lacking well, veggies. The only veggies on the skillet were peppers and onions. If you compare my pictures of the same entree then you'll see my dinner was missing cauliflower, sweet potato, and cilantro. I brought this to the attention of the waitress and she brought two sides of veggies. On the bright side, if there is one, at least I had enough tortillas for the amount of veggies, or lack thereof. I usually have the opposite problem. When I received the check, to my surprise, I was charged for the veggie sides but I feel shouldn't have been because the veggies should have been included in the first place. I also ordered a Mezcal drink - ojo de tigre. The price on the menu was $11 but I was charged $14. I mentioned this to the staff and it was handled. But still, it was a disappointment for what should have been a celebration. I will second guess myself on coming back again. read more

Blanco is conveniently and strategically localted at La Encantada. After shopping around my husband developed a craving for a cocktail and some chips and salsa. The hostess and our server had excellent customer service skills. The food in my opinion is average at best and more of an Amerinazied take on Mexican cuisine. The chips and salsa were good. The guacamole was watery from the tomatoes. Guacamole should really not be served that way. And so many places make this mistake. The tomato and onion mix should be served on the side and mixed in at the table. We also ordered the spicy shrimp fajitas with flour tortillas. The tortillas was served in a plastic wrap to keep them warm, but it didn't do much for temperature and the tortillas appeared and tasted par-cooked. We had our toddler with us and we accidentally left her water bottle behind. When we went back to ask for it about 10 minutes later. A different hostess greeted us and told us it was probably thrown away. My husband noticed the table was still being cleared so he located our server and asked her and she told him it was at the hostess stand. Which it was. From a customer service standpoint that was off putting, more so because the hostess was so disengaged. read more

Today was our last time trying this restaurant. We have been twice before and the first time was amazing! We loved it! The second time a few months ago it was not as good but everyone has an off day! This time....our beans rice and tacos were all as cold as my beer glass. The shrimp we're cold to the touch!! When the server came by finally at the end of our meal (which we split) I informed her that my food was served cold and she asked my wife about her food and she said 'yes' hers was served cold too. Remember, we shared an entree. She spoke to the young manager and she came by to apologize and offer a 'to go' box which we declined as our appetite was ruined now. She offered to take the tacos off the bill in which she took off 'half' the meal (mine) and charged for my Wife's COLD half (remember we split an entree). AMAZING! So in our opinion and it's all ours. If you like cold pre cooked food that has cold rice, beans,shrimp and corn tortillas.....this is your place!! read more

First up was the cheese crisp..plenty of meaty cheesy goodness with a healthy dollop of guac...how can you go wrong?!? We also split the salad, and while they got it wrong the first time, it was tasty when they brought the right one! Cool greens with the grilled chicken and toasted corn...all the southwestern flavors were tasty! The food was good here, but the service and attention to detail was lacking, and when I pay $11 for a small margarita, I expect a higher level. They brought the wrong salad first, then charged me for both the wrong and the right salad...had my bride not noticed it we would have paid double! Ambiance is hipster barrio, service was inattentive and sparse, and prices were above the level of service, quality, and attention. I had never been to Blanco before, but had driven by a few of their locations throughout my past year of living in AZ. Now that I've been to this location, I'm so mad I've slept on this for the past year of my southwestern living! I was at La Encantada for work and just needed to grab something to eat while on a few calls for meetings. I went in and asked to be seated on the patio (such a pretty view!) Chips and salsa were among the best I've ever had at a restaurant. The chips are fresh baked and not greasy at all! So many places I've been to recently seem like they just get Tositos and throw it on a plate. It was a relief to see they actually have fresh chips here. The salsa is also top notch. Not too spicy at all. I went through multiple servings of the salsa--just couldn't get enough! I knew I wanted a salad given it was lunchtime, so I went for the Taco Salad. It was soooooo good! Went above and beyond my expectations. I loved the hearty amount of flavorful taco meat, the zesty ranch dressing and the tortilla strips on top. It was probably one of the best salads I've ever had (albeit not exactly the most healthy). All told, I immediately told my boyfriend about Blanco and we made it a point to get to the Scottsdale location just a week later so I could introduce him to the Blanco experience. So glad I know about this place now. It's for sure my new favorite Cantina in the Valley. read more

I ate here Friday night with some girls from meetup.com. We had just done the yoga in the courtyard (which was amazing) and had decided on Blanco for dinner. I made reservations by calling a day ahead and that process was really easy which I appreciated. When we got there, it was a smaller group which was met with no issue and adjusted. The food ultimately was good, though I had to send the nachos back so that the toppings were more plentiful.. and the chips and salsa were clutch. The real star of the show though and reason I HAD to make sure I remembered to review, was our server Weylin (I think that's how you spell it). I actually don't remember what he said his name was but this was the name on the receipt. He was so welcoming and helpful, plus he stayed on top of all of our needs! It's been awhile since I had customer service I wanted to rant about, but he is definitely doing customer service justice. Blancos is a long time favorite of ours. While there is often a long wait, we can wander around the mall while waiting. We love sitting on the patio with the amazing view of the city. But the inside is fun too (albeit noisy). Service is consistently excellent and we love the food. I often get the avocado tacos (ask for lime to squeeze on them), and my husband loves the carne asada fajitas. We have been here many times, and we'll be back! read more

Great atmosphere! Reasonably priced Mexican food with a modern flair - and of course a great place to visit now that it's open post-Covid. They are currently following fairly strict social distancing protocols but the food it still amazing (employees wearing masks and gloves; not seating two tables directly next to each other). They have both indoor and outdoor seating options. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that we waited quite a bit of time for drinks/food to arrive but I'm guessing that's mostly due to new post-Covid protocols. Our first trip here, we were in search of good street tacos. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Able to watch the playoffs, music and ambient noise are ample. We sat for 7-8 minutes before the hostess returned to the table with chips and salsa, letting us know our server would be with us shortly. Five more minutes and our server arrived also apologetic. Took our order and we had to ask for water - also brought by the hostess (which indicated to us the room was not fully staffed). Dinner came before drinks and the rosé was not a rosé although when we mentioned it, the server made side comment about a substitution (?!) and offered to replace it if I didn't like it. I might have done so except there was so much more that was lackluster here it simply wasn't worth it. Mahi although cooked nicely, was served in a falling apart corn tortilla before I ever picked it up - barely a whisper of cotija cheese and certainly not enough to taste. It was sloppy - not street size - and just ok. Meat in the carnitas was dry and the tortilla greasy. Beans and rice were meh. $70 for two drinks and four tacos that were not exceptional or even good. Super disappointed; we won't be back. read more

Actual rating is 3.5, so I'm rounding down. One of the best parts of Blanco is the view! Seriously hard to beat. If it's cool enough to sit outside, do it. The views of Tucson--day or night--are spectacular. The food on the other hand is just alright. I've been a few times but this review is largely based on my most recent visit. My husband and I decided to take advantage of Blanco's Sonoran Restaurant Week Deal: $35 for dinner for two. We were seated quickly and attended to right away, with our server bringing chips and salsa over to greet us. The salsa is good, but the chips...left something to be desired. On top of it, it seems like we got all the crumbled bits rather than full chips. Also the bowl the chips came in was so small, it's no wonder they were in broken pieces. For our appetizer, we got the guacamole. It was fine, not bad, but not super good either. It really didn't have much flavor, and just tasted like they blended it without any seasoning or onions or anything to give it some kind of memorable taste. For my entree, I got the chopped chicken Mexican salad. It was alright. The greens seemed slightly soggy and the dressing didn't remind me of any type of ranch dressing I've had before. My husband got the green Chile pork enchiladas. He did not like them. I tasted them and they were extremely salty and whatever tortillas they used were super slimy, making the whole dish have a really gross texture. But then came dessert and this is where the meal was redeemed. We got the Mexican chocolate cake and it was wonderful. We devoured it because it was so delicious. It seemed like they really skimped on the scoop of ice cream though, but lots of good whipped cream was yummy. Our service was fast and attentive and I love the atmosphere. The lighting and decor are on point. I just wish the food was better. I'm glad we took advantage of the deal, because I would have been extremely frustrated to pay regular prices for these items. If I return, I think it would just have to be for happy hour to take in the view and have a couple margaritas before heading somewhere else for a meal. read more

We went here on a Saturday night. I didn't have high hopes for the place, but I do have expectations for mexican food in Tucson. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met. The servers we encountered were all great. They were attentive and pleasant with a swift service during a packed dinner rush. I won't fault any of them for they were working hard. Maybe our dinner could have come out earlier since it wasn't hot and fresh. Despite the attentive staff the two stars rating really comes down to atmosphere and the food. We were seated in a two-top table in the center of everything. It was a high traffic area for both staff and guest. This gave us no feeling of the ability to sit and enjoy the meal as we are constantly seeing everyone's crotch and rears every minute of our visit. An added bonus was how incredibly loud it was in there and it was very difficult having a conversation. Now, the food was mediocre at best. I found it about on par with a Chili's or like establishment. The salsa that came with the chips was mostly tomato-based and bland. The chips that accompanied the salsa were OK. My chicken chimichanga was lacking flavor and was surprisingly spongey when I received it (I would have awarded points if it were at least crunchy coming out of a fryer, plated and served in a short time). The charro beans were passable, but uninspired, all other topping and accoutrements were a typical chain restaurant quality and fare. To be very snarky and critical, this place struck me as a Mexi-ish restaurant that lacked any qualities of authenticity. It seemed more of a watering hole as the drink menu appeared more of what they were selling judging by the two-sided menu. I felt that this was a place where Cat Foot residents went to because they wouldn't dare go into the valley and get something authentic and amazing. Great service, but bad food. This place is always busy! I wish there was a way to give it 3.5 stars. It is in a trendy outdoor mall location with a decent view of the city from the patio. The patio has overhead heaters for the winter. It is very loud inside and there isn't much space. There are also only 2 single stall bathrooms for the entire restaurant. The salsa is fresh and the chips are served warm. Get the Queso for a creamy, cheesy addition. The Queso comes topped with fresh tomato, sour cream, and guacamole, but I prefer it without all the extra stuff. The margaritas are always a staple. They are by no means a great margarita, but they are decent and definitely better than most overly sugared pre-mixed margaritas. I had the pineapple jalapeño margarita and it was just slightly spicy and not very sweet. I also had the machaca burrito bowl. The machaca was good but sadly a good portion of my meat was actually fat so I didn't eat it. My partner had the chicken tacos and he said they were good, but it only came with 2 tacos, and the flavor of the chicken was similar to most Chile flavored chicken. There were a lot of families with babies there and sadly we were not able to have a high chair which caused an unhappy kiddo, but luckily no one was upset about his temper. Also, I didn't seem like there was a child cup. The waiter brought a glass of milk for a toddler in a regular glass. Thankfully we had our own cup but milk spilled all over the table trying to put it into the children's cup. We saved the glass but lost the milk ‍. As a chain restaurant, it is mediocre and you can definitely get better Mexican food elsewhere. read more

An incredible place to eat! My wife and I went here on Friday night, our first night out since we welcomed our son into the world 3 months ago. Incredible atmosphere and was the perfect place to decompress and just enjoy the moment. Our waiter was named Weylin, he was such a great person. He didn't hover or ignore us, he was always there when we needed something. He helped make sure the to go order for the babysitter came out later with our check so it was hot and he made us feel totally at ease. It's a great sit down experience with prices that match most take out Mexican restaurants or taco shops anymore. Great experience, 10/10 no notes. read more
