Dear BBQ Pork Tacos - let me get to the point - I love you. I must watch too much Chopped because I actually used the phrase "the perfect bite" to describe my experience. There was the sweet barbecue sauce, cut with the acid from the pickled onions, lifted with a bit of rich crema Fresca....sigh...I miss you BBQ pork taco....till we meet again... When I wasn't being seduced by my tacos, I was also lured by beautiful views & waitstaff! We experienced friendly hostesses and efficient service on both visits of varying day times. We didn't have our daughter with us at the time, but it appeared as if it was a comfortable environment for kids. My husband got the roasted chicken burrito which was perfectly prepared & flavorful. The first visit I tried the fish tacos - which were just ok. However I did have a side of veggies instead of rice and it turned out to be the surprise star of my meal. I cannot wait to go back to this place and try another menu item. Horrible service and management. Was sat at a very dirty table with food all over the seats and floor. Server was mia most of the evening, waited for long periods for him to come back with drinks and then another long wait to take order. Blanco Tacos may not be authentic but I really like this place. The food is fresh and well prepared. The last visit, I started with chips, salsa and guacamole. The salsa and guac were really fresh with lots of flavor. The chips are nicely salted with sea salt. For dinner, I had the avocado and tomato salad with goat cheese and pistachios. The dressing was a honey lime dressing that added just the right touch of sweetness. I also had a mixed berry margarita that rocked my world. Had I not been driving, I could have polished off quite a few of those! Lastly, upon the suggestion of the server, I had their chocolate cake. It was a flourless cake with a salty chocolate dressing that was a great sweet and salty combination. Service was prompt and attentive, the view was breathtaking. I have been away from Tucson for a few years now but whenever I think about my favorite restaurant in this world Blanco's is top of the list. The blood orange margarita is the most delicious I have ever had. Ever. And I've had a freaking lot of margs in my life. Definitely not the authentic Mexican food you can find elsewhere in T-Town, but very fresh feeling and a contemporary take. I used to order the carnitas tacos and the entree came with a side of black beans and creme fresca and a rice + cilantro scoop. This particular location has an amazing patio that oversees the entire valley. With the misters going on a warm summer evening, it is thee spot for dinner. I came to Blanco because I'm on the Fox mailing list and I like to try new things. They had a deal this summer where $15 got you 3 Tacos, Rice and Beans and a Margarita. So I just couldn't pass it up. The margarita was a good standard margarita. The three tacos (I tried Fish, Chicken, and Carne Asada) were okay but I would pass on the chicken, it was very bland and I don't think I even finished it. The fish taco and the carne asada were good, but just good nothing special. I might try this place again and maybe not go for the deal. read more

Super tasty! This is such a great spot to chill on the patio and look out over Tucson while enjoying some delicious food. I haven't had a taco there I didn't like. I really like the portion size. If it weren't for the chips and salsa they give you I know I'd never leave there feeling stuffed. However that salsa is good and I can't stop putting it on chips. This place clearly focuses on the margaritas. I know people love them but I've found I really prefer just the regular one. I think that's just me though, so go try one! Went to Blanco last night for a quick meal with my son... There was nothing quick about it! The service was OFF, and even though it wasn't that crowded- after close to 15 minutes of being ignored by the waiter, I flagged down the hostess. The server must have forgotten about us, because once I spoke up- the manager came right away and swiftly delivered chips, salsa, and a small guacamole "on the house." The manager (Brian) apologized for the server, and we placed our order a few minutes later. My son and I both ordered tacos (one each of grilled shrimp, pork with chile, and BBQ pork). When I got my tacos, they were on flour tortillas, but I'd ordered corn. Brian took care of us, and again apologized for the missteps we encountered during our meal. He ended up picking up the check for us, and even gave us a flan, which was a perfect carmel delight, accompanied by a few mixed berries. I respect a restaurant that can recognize its own mistakes, and make good on them so the customer leaves happy. Thanks to Brian, I will go back to Blanco, as I think the food is fairly priced and consistently good. It's not the best place to go if you're in a hurry, or expecting a genuine Mexican experience, but the "mañana" mentality that seems to pervade the place is at least somewhat tempered by knowledgable and competent management. read more

As a frequenter of happy hours all around Tucson, I'd have to say this a great spot! I've been 3 times for happy hour, and have really enjoyed the selection - I am particularly impressed with the two ceviches on special! The guacamole is delicious, too. but is honestly still a little pricey. The view from this place is unbeatable, particularly during the happy hour time! The regular dinner menu is pricey for what it is, and the service ranges from excellent to disappointing. But on the whole, I enjoy this place and plan on returning many more times! Something my guy and I really enjoy is the variety of salsas - we are both Southwestern natives and enjoy the different flavors. I recently visited Blanco while on a business trip in Tucson. My experience was extremely unpleasant. I had high hopes since the reviews were so good, something I always check when visiting a new restaurant, but Blanco terribly disappointed. I ordered the shrimp tacos and just as I was taking a bite into my third taco I noticed a mid-sized blond hair cooked into my shrimp. Our waiter was coincidently at our table at the time and I held it up for him and asked him if that was indeed a hair. He agreed and apologized, saying he would have the manager come to our table. I asked he take my plate, feeling sick to my stomach. The manager approached our table a few minutes later with a plate in hand and asked who had ordered a shrimp taco. Just seeing the shrimp taco again made me want to throw up. I told the manager that I did not want nor had I ordered that taco. I could not believe he had actually brought another taco to our table. I felt this to not be good customer service practice. He apologized for what had happened to me and offered to cover my meal, which I appreciated. Aside from this incident, I and also my coworkers felt that the food there was overly salted and not authentic in Mexican flavor. The tres leches cake was dry and the flan tasted like it came from a box-mixture. The ONLY thing I enjoyed was the Esquites. I'd say the only positive aspect of our visit to Blanco was our waiter Tyler who made his best effort after the incident w the hair, to make our visit enjoyable. I never plan to visit this restaurant again nor do I recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food with good customer service from the managerial staff. read more

For a restaurant at a mall, this place wasn't bad. My wife loved her meal. I found mine to be just okay. The wait staff was very good and professional. But what I thought was terribly annoying was the constant moving of heavy metal patio furniture on the concrete patio. It was non-stop "CREEEENKKKKKKKKKKK" sounds all through dinner, as they would move table together, or slide chairs around. My husband and I ate here this last weekend and really enjoyed it! Fair warning, if you are expecting an authentic sonoran/mexican meal this isn't the place for you. This is modern mexican food, and it is really good! The chips and salsa are free...the salsa is VERY mild...could have used a lot more spice. The guacamole was very good though, and mixing the guac and salsa together made for a great chip dip! The white sangria was also very good...not too strong but it definitely had a kick to it! I had the baked short rib and avocado cheese crisp and it was delicious! I could have just eaten a bowl of the short ribs! Very well cooked and seasoned. The crisp had a little sweetness to it, which was unique and quite good. My husband had the fish tacos with black beans and rice and really enjoyed them. The fish is grilled, not fried, and was very fresh. My husband said the beans were the best he's had. The service was great, and the waiter was very attentive and fast. He noticed we were running low on chips and got us more without us having to ask. The atmosphere in the restaurant is also really great. You're up in the foothills, and there is a great view of Tucson and the city lights at night. There is a large patio where you can sit as well, but as we went when there was a monsoon we chose to sit inside. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a different, fun place to try! read more

Blancos is one of the restaurants that shines more due to its location and the customer service. For a restaurant surrounded by other gems like north it lacks bit of oomph. The modern Mexican tacos trend that has gained popularity around the country has not left Tucson untouched. They have pretty nice menu selection and food tastes decent too but it still lacks something that gives you satisfaction of a perfect meal. One thing that stands out are the margheritas. The staff at Blanco make this place 5+ stars. I'm sitting on the patio during a ridiculous monsoon storm and the staff have been truly fantastic! I have watched the hostesses walk several people out to their cars so that they could have an umbrella. There's no way on earth I would venture outside during this crazy lightning storm!! We live fairly close and the Blanco location is really nice, with a terrific view. Unfortunately, the food and margaritas are very disappointing. The food is very pretty, but they are apparently catering to people who don't like spicy food. Everything is bland, no matter how good it looks, and it often looks very good. There is really no excuse for serving bad margaritas in Tucson, but the last time we went the margaritas were literally undrinkable because they so sweet. Serving bad margaritas is a sin. Serving bad and overpriced margaritas is unforgivable. We have gone back to Blanco a couple of times because the venue is no nice and the food AUGHT to be good, but each time it has actually been worse than the last. J-Bar is down the road about a mile, is in the same price range and is far better. read more

My mother was horrified. Nuff said? Worst service ever. We sent our food back. It looked and tasted disgusting. I ordered a chicken cheese crisp. The chicken was dark meat (at a premium price) and had the consistency of cat food...kinda like mush. It tasted wrong (expired or left out or something), so I sent it back. I also ordered a small guacamole (like $8). It had no flavor, but there was nothing wrong with it so I didn't send it back. The music was lousy, but I can get over that. But the level of service was terrible. He brought the beer out in a can and didn't even bother to pour it in the class. For $5, are you really that lazy not to pour the beer in a glass?!?! The waiter was never there, I had to wave at him like crazy to get him to come over when I wanted to send the crisp back. I told him it tasted wrong, he took it away, and the next time he came back it was with the check. He never apologized. Not once. No manager came out. WTF? I said your food tastes wrong and you don't even care?!? I'm never coming back here. The waiter should be fired. Worst experience ever. read more

Giving it four stars for the great food but the service wasn't great. I overheard most of the wait staff around me discussing other customers which made me feel a little uncomfortable. We weren't offered refills, we had to track someone down to get them. We never had anyone check on us after our meal came to see if we needed anything. I think when I first moved to Tucson and discovered this salad, I ate it once a week for a month (and it wasn't enough). And at $8.95, I couldn't even feel guilty about it! I've been here several times, and it has always been a great experience. The restaurant is kind of on the smaller side but they can do large parties. I've been there for birthdays with groups of up to 20 people. The overall atmosphere is really nice though, especially the patio area. And the service is wonderful!! The food always comes out fast. As far as food goes, I would highly recommend the nachos. They're huge so I would suggest splitting them with someone, but they're really good. Their fish tacos are also pretty good. I just tried blanco for the first time! It was a really neat restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. I tried the Caesar salad with shrimp which was delicious. The shrimp was fresh and was cooked perfectly! The salad also had sweet corn which was an interesting addition. I also tried the chicken enchilada which was also delicious. They were served in a small skillet with the tortillas stacked on top of each other which was different! We also got great service! They hostesses greeted us immediately and our server Bri was great! read more
