First off everything in New York does not have to be expensive! Example... The Blarney Stone! Two vodka tonics were TEN dollars. Now true I'm not sure what vodka I was getting... But at that point it didn't matter anyway. This bar is located steps from Madison Square Garden and is a cool divey spot. The locals are really cool and the Bartenders are extremely pleasant! Even the door guy was cool. I would highly recommend this place if you are in the area and looking for a cheap drink to start or end your night. read more

Attended a pre party before the NYPD vs. FDNY hockey game we had the rooftop of the bar area for ourselves which was nice and it would be much better on a sunny day. We had an open bar for the afternoon and Ferguson kept our drinks filled all afternoon. The food was good we had a delicious buffet with chicken fingers, grilled cheese sandwiches, Steak Fries etc. classic bar/comfort food. I will definetly go back on a sunny day to take advantage of the roof top bar area. read more

The staff here are some of the nicest, coolest, most down-to-earth folks you'll meet in New York. The clientele not so much. If you intend on interacting with the degenerate thuggish scum who frequent this place, make sure you bring a mace. Not a can of mace as in the modern self-defense spray but an actual mace as in the medieval weapon. That aside, not a bad spot for a cheap drink. Local neighborhood Irish pub right near the MSG/Penn Station area. Wen't there really late for a drink with a friend and only spent like $14 total (including tip) for a beer and a cocktail. The place was very empty from 2am-4am closing which I thought was a bit surprising considering it being a Saturday night at a local sports bar and pub. read more

Good place for drinks and basic bar fare. Very close to Penn Station. Location is incredibly convenient. Nice warm atmosphere. Seems very cozy and homey. Fairly clean, including restrooms. Bartenders are not highly skilled, but very polite and friendly. If you ask for anything other than a beer, the staff will look it up for you on their phones. Mixed drinks are average and are not watered down. The food is above average. We ordered wings and cheeseburgers. They came out in a timely fashion and were prepared as requested. The employees try to be very accommodating. They kept offering us extra napkins and condiments. The bartender also periodically checked on our drinks periodically, but not too much. Just right. The other patrons were all very nice, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. No drama thank goodness. Cute little jukebox as well. A lot of televisions for those who want to catch a game. Gets a little crowded at peak hours. Prices are reasonable. Go check it out! read more

Stopped by the Blarney Stone following a visit to the ships of Fleet week. MY friend and I tried to eat at PD O'Hurley's next to the Intrepid Museum but left after waiting 15 minutes with no service from the clowns they called waiters there. I then remembered the Blarney Stone next to Penn Station. I had not been there in a few years and we decided to stop by before taking the train home. Well it seems like the place has been remodeled since my last visit a few years back and it was clean and the food was great. Service was friendly and outstanding and our bar food came fast and tasted great. They also have tables in back but we stayed at the bar. We were even offered a free round of drinks even though we did not stay too long. I'm glad we ended up at the Blarney Stone and my friend was so impressed I know he will be going back again next time he visits the city. read more

I ate dinner during game 7 rangers playoff game. It's sports bar food in a crunch. Manager is clueless and rides his wait staff hard... Especially when the place is slammed. I was reduced to chewing ice cubes, waiting for a second glass of water. By that time I already finished my dinner. The Manager needs to step up. If you don't schedule enough wait staff during a busy game 7 night, you better help serving and waiting on people. This manager on duty even tried to take my plate away while I was still eating my dinner. But he didn't have the foresight to see I had an empty glass of water. read more

It's the third time I've been here in the past couple months, and it was so satisfying I decided I just had to write a review. Being that I'm not here except for drinks, I love the atmosphere of a really laid-back pub. The music style is mostly alternative rock which is a definitely refreshing change from the same 12-song pop-hit playlist I've been hearing in most other bars. Every time I've been here, it's been a respectable crowd of people, and never empty. The past couple of nights I've been here, I've been served stellar drinks by the lovely bartender Virginia. The first time, I'd asked her to create something not on the menu, and what-ever it is that she made with tequila absolutely hit the spot. This most recent time was just two nights ago, and even though I'd asked for a whiskey sour, somehow it seemed magically better than any other whiskey sours I've had. I'm looking forward to my next visit with a bated breath. read more

She couldn't have been more accommodating which we absolutely did not deserve since we were a rowdy party. I really appreciate waitress service that makes me feel comfortable and relaxed. Good sized place with a decent # of TVs. Waitress' were not friendly at all. Burger/fries were solid. Good enough beer selection. Didn't get a chance to check out the 2nd floor. Location is a little out of the way, but is a good pregame spot before MSG. I would come back again if I was going to a game, but otherwise probably wouldn't stop here. read more

Just came from the Blarney Stone, been there a couple times, I live very close to there. However, had a horrible experience. A friend and I just wanted a pitcher so I went up to the bar. Bartender was busy helpin a few customers who had lots of questions which was fine but when he was done with them he proceeded to ignore me and start putting away glasses, then went back to helping someone else. I couldnt believe it, there were at most 10 people in the whole place and I had been waiting 15 minutes. Finally I said "sir, can I get some service?" He spun around and said "I SEE YOU THERE, I AM BUSY, AND YOU ARE NOT NICE!!" What!?! I couldnt believe this was actually happening. He pretty much accosted me just for politely asking for service. The place was clean and offered a nice atmosphere. Visited Blarney Stone on a Sunday night after a Rangers game. My friends and I were in town from Chicago but the staff made us feel right at home. There was a bit of a crowd from fans after the game but the service was still fast and perfect. Chris, the manager, took amazing care of us and made it our favorite night of the trip!
