My only con regarding this place is that they only serve beer, wine and ciders. Sometimes I want a cocktail with my dinner so I wish they would serve them. But it was not a deal breaker I ordered one of their ciders. For the entrees my friend and I ordered the mahi ceviche, Caesar salad, redfish and beef tenderloin. Every dish was outstanding. The mahi ceviche was served with plantain chips and tasted very fresh, lime being a prominent ingredient. This is one of my favorite restaurants in SA for sure! The most tender hangar steak I've ever had, and I've had a lot. Chimichurri is unconventional, and I definitely like my cilantro based version better; still excellent. Polenta is the best I've ever had, bar none. Scallops also fantastic. Cooked perfectly. I'm not a fan of roe, but it compliments nicely. Risotto was phenom. I began with the charred octopus-which was so heavenly-every bite orgasmic, but so small, even so it eclipsed my previous fav José Andrés Bizarre Meat charred octopus by a long mile. The bone marrow was covered with a topping distracting from the bone marrow. I wanted to get the Branzino but got the special of the kurobuta pork chop. Had an amazing date night at Bliss last night! This restaurant is super swanky, with a nice mix of modern and industrial decor, but in a cozy comfortable sort of way. It is quite small, so I would definitely recommend reservations. The service was top notch and the food is just out-of-this-world! Everything was perfect - from flavor to texture, to the presentation and amount! Nothing was missing nor overdone...it was food art in its purest form! Our tastes were tantalized with every bite, and I think I even did a little happy dance in my chair every time I took in a new scrumptious morsel into my mouth. We had dinner here during Culinaria and it was fantastic. The oyster sliders were small but absolutely delicious. I also really enjoyed the flavor of the scallops although they were a little salty for me and also it was a very small portion. This is not too surprising since I ordered off the culinaria menu that the portions were a bit on the small side. The quality and flavor was still there so I was pleased with my meal. Luckily they brought plenty of bread to supplement my meal. Others at the table ordered the Wagyu supplement, the short ribs and the hanger steak and their portions were all more substantial and they all enjoyed their food. Last but not least,the dessert. I'm not a big dessert person and would normally skip it but of course I ate it because it was included with my culinaria menu. I took a close friend to experience Bliss for the first time and Bliss was perfection. The hostess and bartenders were extremely welcoming. We were sat on time and had a great view of the kitchen. Brett our waiter was awesome from the second he introduced himself. The entire staff was extremely attentive the whole evening. Brett was so knowledgeable of every dish and introduced them in a way, that you wanted to try them all. We took his recommendations and had the perfect dinner. Tony the chef came to your table and was kind enough to send over a complimentary dish to taste (which was delicious). What an amazing dining experience! From the moment we were greeted at the door until we left, the service was impeccable, the food delicious, and the presentation a work of art. Our waitress Mercedes anticipated our every need. The place itself is brick walled with comfortable seating and reasonably quiet atmosphere - you could hear your table companions without difficulty! One in our party was vegan, and they had a delicious mushroom appetizer as well a vegetarian dish with farro and veggies that was made vegan. LOCATION/ATMOSPHERE 5/5: Bliss is truly a blissful experience for dining. It was a short Uber ride from our hotel, and we did make reservations in advance. They provide both indoor & outdoor seating, we got extremely lucky with our outdoor seats, because we were right next to the fire pit and we had an ample amount of warmth around us. The outdoor patio is intimate, has a ton of outdoor heaters, and beautiful string lighting, so much so that it makes you feel like you're at a romantic date in your backyard. They also have a private outdoor parking lot, which is a great thing to have! No valet though. SERVICE 5/5: If I could give it 10 stars, I absolutely would. From the very friendly hostesses, to our amazing server Ashley, I would want to dine here everytime I'm in San Antonio. High quality and professional food and service. Very nice decor, and we were able to sit outside. Very nice outdoors ambiance. I got the arugula salad with figs. The figs were very fresh, and the arugala tasted great too. The cheese flakes were good, and the best part was the dressing on the side of the bowl of salad. I'm not sure what it was, but I think it was a kind of yogurt, or cheese, or a mix. The menu changes and I forgot to take a picture of the menu. I also got the Branzino Dish. The fish was perfectly seared - Lots of "grilling" tastes, and it became very crispy. The fish was very tender and not under or overcooked. The fried quinoa on the top added a great crunchiness, and so did the pumpkin seeds, and it got balanced by the mandarin oranges on the top of the fish. The vegetables underneath were great - asparagus and other things were very juicy and not limp and boring. I liked that they put the two slices of fish on top of each other so the middle was still crunchy and overall there was a crispy center to the fish. The little things really matter - like grilling the lemon for the lemon juice and having it really easy to squeeze out. I also tasted the grilled octopus and a bit of a scallop. Cooked to perfection. There was a side of kimchee with bread and butter pickles that offered a twist of citrus and heat. Sliders: Chicken fried oyster with spinach and apple wood bacon on a buttermilk biscuit w/a brown butter hollindase. These were almost equally as incredible. They got a tremendous amount of flavor into a small bite. Rack of Lamb: This lamb rivaled the lamb from our local Brazillian steak houses. Medium rare, juicy, seasoned perfectly, crisp on the outside. Rabbit Canneloni: Are you kidding me with this dish? Some of the most tender braised rabbit we've ever been served. Wrapped up in pasta with parmesan on top. Served with wild mushrooms and a rabbit jus. The cheese and pasta had cooked enough for a crunch. The rabbit was indulgently soft. This dish hit all the right notes texturally and in flavor. Flourless Chocolate Cake: A decadent treat for any chocolate lover. Dark chocolate cake, a rich chocolate mousse, paired with a coffee gelato and a side of carmelized popcorn. All drizzled with a bourbon caramel sauce. Sorbet: This was a seasonal assortment and I was most impressed with the sangria and dragon fruit. I think the middle serving was a prickled pear. The flavor wasn't as prominent, but the other two more than made up for it. The Aftermath: This menu was exceptional in every way. Intimate dining experience, prompt service and phenomenal food. How can I not give this 5 stars. Every thing I got to taste was awesome! As a party of six we ordered er the Carpaccio, Bone Marrow, Oyster sliders for appetizers and they were amazing. I especially loved the Carpaccio. I also had the recently added roasted chicken which did not disappoint, was not the more expensive and took awhile to prepare which our waiter advised me that it would but so worth the wait. The meat was super juicy and the skin super crispy coupled with the Dripping reduction sauce was amazing. The portion I would say was a little much as I was stuffed but so worth it. What a beautiful restaurant just South of downtown San Antonio. The chef here is so very creative with all of his dishes. The bone marrow was cooked perfectly and the ceviche was tart and very fresh. I heard from the other end of the table the fried oysters were perfect. I had the Bronzino with farrow I think. Texture and flavor was excellent. I switched up the girls night out plans and convinced them to come to Bliss. We were glad to have come! They wanted a more upscale dinning experience and I wanted a place with vegetarian food options, Bliss fit the bill perfectly! This restaurant is great for all kinds of occasions- date, anniversary, birthday, and girls night. The food is American and a great variety within that - scallops, flounder, quail, rack of lamb, rabbit, beef tenderloin, wild boar, and etc. When I looked up the menu I saw vegetarian enchiladas and I was open to trying and enjoying it, but to my luck they had a vegan pasta on the menu for the week. The vegan pasta consisted of tagliatelle noodles, black trumpet mushrooms, walnuts, asparagus, kale, and prosecco black garlic butter sauce. It was soooo delicious! I enjoyed every single bite. The garlic butter sauce really kicked the dish up a notch. I also adored and enjoyed the black trumpet mushrooms. I also ordered dessert, I selected the butter cake and it was way more than I could have asked for. It is heaven sent! I highly recommend getting the butter cake. As a tip I suggest looking into getting a bottle of wine to split if you are with friends and want a libation. They only carry wine for spirits. A single glass can run about $15 but some bottles are priced at about $40 and you can get 4 glasses. read more

We did the chefs table which was an absolutely delightful experience. The 7 courses were each individual in their own way, and they were very accommodating of my shrimp allergy. The greatest surprise was how incredible the Spanish octopus was. It was not chewy at all, and was cooked to perfection. The only reason I give 4 stars vs 5 is because of how this stacks up against other chefs table experiences. We expected to be greeted by the chef and have them walk us through the menu or even to have the wine sommelier walk us through the wine list. Our server was amazing, and he did talk us through the courses, but at other chefs tables, it has always been a little more hands on with the chef, especially for the price tag that comes with it. We decided to do the Chef's Tasting menu for our anniversary. It's $125 per person. My boyfriend got 3 bears and we both got a coke. Ended up being $351 with gratuity included. Our server was the absolute best, super sweet. Did a whole photo shoot for us by the fire. They give you bread right when you sit down. The charcuterie board was a pleasant surprise. The tostada was meant to be a one bite appetizer. I took me two, but it was sweet, spicy, salty all in those 2 bites. The Oyster Sliders. Omg the biscuit melted in my mouth. The candied bacon was an added bonus. The oyster was crunchy but not overly cooked. Simply delightful. The OCTOPUS my favorite dish. It was absolutely perfect. The potatoes it came with was kind of salty so swipe as much sauce with it as possible. The halibut was my boyfriend's favorite. It's a very meaty fish, but it wasn't dry. The short rib, was the biggest plate and it was the most disappointing. The sides saved this dish. The short ribs was super dry, but the carrots, peas and mashed potatoes were amazing. The mushrooms were kind of chewy. That's the only reason I'm giving this 4 stars. Dessert! Get you a coffee and enjoy! Coffee ice cream didn't really taste like coffee with all the dusting that came with it. The chocolate cake was thick and creamy. The popcorn will get stuck in your teeth lol. The cheesecake is made out of goat cheese that gave it an extra tarty flavor but it was pleasantly paired with the berries and pistachios brittle. We were super full after all the food. On our last night in San Antonio, my two friends and I dined at this fabulous restaurant to celebrate our 65th birthdays. Bliss is a small space with an outdoor patio, tiny bar area and a chef's table in the kitchen. We shared a bottle of wine and the grilled Spanish octopus. The octopus was grilled to perfection, not rubbery, and was served with crispy potatoes and white bean & avocado purée. So good! My friends had the beef tenderloin and both loved their entrees; although one was cooked more than the other and both were ordered to be cooked medium. The tenderloin was topped with crispy onion rings and came with potato gratin, cauliflower and shishito peppers. I had the pan-seared red snapper served with cilantro risotto and wild mushrooms. The snapper had a nice crisp on top and was moist and flaky. Delish! Our server Leah was attentive and engaging. She asked what we were celebrating and we told her our 65th birthdays. She brought out a trio of sorbet we ordered for dessert which had 3 candles for us. Nice touch. I was very surprised, though, that this upscale place charged us the $12 for the dessert and not comp it for our birthdays...especially when the bill was $300 without tip. Every single time I dine at Bliss I'm reminded of why I always think they're one of the absolute best restaurants San Antonio has to offer. My most recent trip for dinner was no exception. The service is always absolutely impeccable and my waiter this trip was no exception. He was always there when we needed him (and even when we didn't know we did) and was extremely helpful in reviewing the menu with us. I started with the pork belly (always divine and ready to melt in your mouth) and our waiter made sure to instruct us to get bites of all the accompaniments to maximize the full flavor of the dish. Always a wise suggestion with this dish. Next we ordered a charcuterie board with the help of our waiter's recommendations-again great flavor combos and more filling than expected. For the main course we went with their take on pork and beans pastor style. The dish was not at all what I expected from the menu (in a good way). The pork was tender and ready to fall off the bone and again-getting all the ingredients together to get all the flavors in one bite was key. As with any visit to Bliss-no visit is complete without sticking your head in the back patio area to see if any of the members of the feral cat colony Bliss takes care of are lounging around.
