So let me start this off by saying I am not a big coffee fan. I'm pretty much only in coffee shops for hot chocolate and a study ambiance. We wandered in this cute little shop, and they offered samples of their VTM iced coffee, which took me aback how good it was. I've had Vietnamese coffee before, and have somewhat enjoyed it, but this was truly amazing! I ended up getting a VTM frappe, and it was absolutely delicious. Soooo rich and sweet, and the whipped cream was really sweet too! I loved this drink so much!!! The environment is really cute and good to study, although it is super tiny inside, only about 2-3 tables I think. I wished there was one closer to me, because omg I'm obsessed now. Love their LTVM. It's a great take on a lighter iced Vietnamese iced coffee. Such a cool vibe inside. I've been to multiple locations and they make consistently good drinks. Good coffee but after three disappointing coffees I will not be back. Their barista is very inconsistent. The first time I went she got my size wrong and gave me a medium when I ordered a large. The second time I asked for a little bit of cream and was given more cream than coffee. I usually don't like to write bad reviews but when I received my coffee today it was mainly ice. I've been coming here for a couple years now always love the Vietnamese coffee they've always done a pretty good job. Came today ordered large Vietnamese coffee with ice on the side. I received a large cup with about not even half of the cup filled with coffee I put the entire contents of the ice on the side in the cup and it came up to about 3/4 to the cup filled with ice. I asked if this was normal and they responded with hesitation, yes. Another guy proceeded to ask me what I wanted... I said a large coffee that I was charged for. He offered to sell me more per OUNCE! Are you serious!? Even my friend who was with me was baffled.... I asked if he was serious " you really won't offer someone few more ounces of coffee to fill the cup after showing them in front of their face that the coffee filled with Ice wasn't even close to being full. After I showed them he even agreed with me and said sorry, " do you want more I can sell you per ounce or fill it with milk or something for you.... idk what do you want?" I just wanted large iced VTM coffee and your employees were not willing to make it happen. read more

Very disappointed. The coffee was way too hot. I tried to sip once I got it and my tongue got burnt by the coffee. Waited 20 minutes to actually start drinking, but the milk was destroyed by the high temperature, and it tasted bitter. The place looks really cute and that made up the two stars. I visited the Laguna Beach BLKdot Coffee. My Coffee was full bodied and good. I was disappointed that my "toast" was not really toasted. I would refer to what I received as warmed bread. I ordered the egg salad toast and was also disappointed that the egg salad was ice cold... too cold to fully enjoy the taste. I feel strongly about not using single use plastic utensils, especially at the beach, so was surprised that they have chosen to use plastic. If disposal utensils are their option, then Blkdot should choose an environmentally friendly recyclable option. I will only be buying coffee from now on. read more

Tasted a bit like dirt but that's a simple 'problem' that could be fixed so I went in again and asked for stevia. 3rd location we have come to and not only is the coffee good and consistent, the service is also very good and friendly. This location has seating inside and outside for people to get work done and study, or just unwind with a bite and coffee before/after their beach activity. I hope they keep the same standards as they are growing. Being a previous banker, I always see some multi location and franchises lose either quality or service or both by either growing too quickly or bringing in "consultants" that advise them incorrectly. read more

Been in Laguna Beach on vacation and so far we've been twice to BLKdot Coffee. Love their drinks and the wide variety of unique selections. First day, I tried the light Vietnamese coffee and it was perfectly sweet and every bit as delicious as what others may get in the traditional drink, just not quite as rich or overly sweet like people say the full one is. Today, I had the salted caramel foam cold brew. Wow, the foam is very salty and very foamy (made using whole cream), but when you stir it in that cold brew, it is such a treat! Definitely recommend this place if you are a coffee lover and appreciate well-made drinks!! read more

I've been here twice now. The first time I tried their vtm iced coffee. It's not Lee's iced coffee. That's what I'm used to and love (judge if you will). This coffee was much stronger, but also somehow equally sweet. I would get it again if I needed a caffeine kick, but I'm really not a huge coffee drinker to begin with. Now, the food. I tried the sausage banh mi. Unlike another reviewer who said her chicken banh mi was lacking in protein, my sausage sammich was good-sized and not lacking in protein. Taste was good, definitely a nice addition to the food options in this plaza. The pickled veggies were a bit sweeter than other banh mi I've had and the spicy mayo was not spicy but I don't necessarily consider these negatives, just an fyi. read more

Visited on a Saturday morning around 6:40am - in and out within 2 minutes. Got Viet Iced and Red Eye hot. Accidentally chugged the Viet. In two seconds (its sweet and creamy as it should be.) the red eye was poured to a BRIMMER. Filled all the way to the top. I was unable to add cream and sugar because just getting the lid on caused some spillage. They have signs on the trash cans requesting no liquids to be pour in them, for justifiable reasons... my only afterthought would be to next time ask in advance ~please leave room for cream. I work down the street from blk dot, we usually don't have time to go, but I sent my team to pick it up to cheer them up! We were super excited to have a treat and hype up our day. Unfortunately it did the opposite and I had to go to another store after to buy more food because it was so bad. The drinks were good! I do recommend trying their selection if you never have, but don't waste your paycheck on their food. I bought a sandwich and I think it had 1 little piece of meat on half of the sandwich with barely any garnishes. It was an 11 dollar sandwich which should of been 4 dollars with the amount of ingredients on it. I will not be recommending future customers to go there sadly read more

Was super pumped for a new local spot that I could walk to, but this place is a huge disappointment. We tried their drip coffee (hot and iced) and it was undrinkable... had to throw it out. Their passion fruit specialty iced tea was meh, only drank half of it and it wasn't cheap. The only sandwich we liked was the turkey bacon but there is nothing healthy about it. Chocolate croissant was amazing! Unfortunately, this is not the type of coffee place we were hoping for in North Laguna. Friends, if you are looking for seriously delicious coffee + food at a reasonable price, Kitchen in the Canyon is the spot. They serve Keane coffee and their homemade cold brew is to die for! Who has the nerve to tell a customer 20 minutes before closing that the owners say they can shut down the food service so they can clean up? The Iced VTM or LVTM(light) has you covered...or get an iced latte with almond milk if you're a health nut, either way you'll be happy. Are you a connoisseur? Don't worry, their espresso machiatto and cappuccino is legit with a nutty and aromatic espresso. This is a hipster coffee shop with an ethnic/Vietnamese twist and also, unlike most coffee places, has great food. Grab your favorite drink, a banh mi sandwich or some AVOCADO TOAST and walk to the beach or sit outside and enjoy the ocean breeze. My favorite food item here is the avocado toast with a side of tuna salad. They also have an avocado boat which is avocado stuffed with tuna salad, both are great options and better than most of the microwaved bs sandwiches you find at other coffee shops. Blk Dot also has a ton of FREE and easy parking which is almost impossible to find by the beach. Skip the line at Urth Caffe and give this place a shot! read more

This is my first time at BLKdot Coffee and overall I had a very good experience. The environment is artsy inside with many different colored walls, big windows, and a black chalkboard aesthetic for their food and coffee menus. The employees were nice and the food did not disappoint. I ordered the Sausage Banh-Mi and a caramel Macchiato. The sandwich was very tasty and was definitely the highlight of my visit. I was impressed by the savory sausage, freshness of the vegetables (cucumber mainly) and the spice offered by the jalapeño and spicy mayo sauce. The only reason I can't give this place a full five star is the lack of milk in my coffee which ended up being very strong to the point where even sugar couldn't fully save the drink.
