Review is for the Viet ice coffee. Good level of sweetness and good robust taste and strength. A few reviewers mentioned finally a good viet coffee joint outside of little Saigon to go to. I also agree and love that it's local. There is still a hazel nut after taste but the robust of the coffee and sweetness of condense milk make it still enjoyable. Someone mentioned phin on a review and I think it's better than phin. Good dark color and robust smell and taste I appreciate the cup it's served in with the pin back sip lid. I'm so glad BLKdot opened up right in the middle of a horrible work deadline! With a little adjustment to my route in the mornings, I was able to stop and pick up BLKdot multiple times and let me tell ya - the coffee hits your hard! When I'm craving something on the slightly sweeter side, their classic VTM hits the spot. I got a large once and was completely wired for the entire day (probably not a good idea) and a regular size gets the job done really well. Most of the time thought, I just want a simple iced sea salt coffee. Black coffee topped with their sea salt cream (reminds me of the sea cream black at 7Leaves), a little hint of salt, a little creaminess, and a whole lot of coffee to sustain me through the day. Great addition to this area and my new pit stop in the mornings! :) read more

Stopped for coffee here after lunch. This is a delightful little coffee shop has the most delicious Vietnamese coffee. I had the caramel macchiato, and my friend had a decaf latte. I came in the morning around 10:30. It was a bit crowded ,but that's to be expected since it's morning time. I got the avocado toast and added bacon, this was really good. I wish I had l just a little more flavor but overall pretty tasty. I also got a chai latte and this was also very good! The only downside would be the price, both of these items came up to $23 , which to me, is a bit pricey for toast and coffee. Overall, I recommend if you don't mind spending a little extra money.:) read more

This place was just okay. They have a clean aesthetic and good customer service. I ordered a bacon egg breakfast sandwich. It looked nothing like the other photos on Yelp not to mention it was over cooked. Bagel was hard from being over toasted, and eggs also overcooked. One of the thing that threw me off about this place was service. The cashier wasn't really friendly or welcoming. She just looked like she didn't want to be there. This location is pretty small and there's no tables inside in case you want to study/or do work. Luckily I came early in the morning so there was parking but usually this lot can get hectic considering it's right next to Trader Joe's read more

Meh. You want real vietnamese coffee? Just go to your typical Mr. Lees sandwiches, and feel the wrath (in a good way). The Vietnamese coffee here seems a bit too sweet. Not too my liking. I don't know if it's the layout of the store, but the line seems to be a bit disorganized. I've been here several times, and people seem to not know where the line begins. read more

Terrible customer service on morning of Thursday 4/24 around 8:15 / 8:20 am . Completely unwelcoming and dishonest with customers. Young man completely cut me off when i told him i was here to pick up my order i placed on uber eats 20 minutes prior with a 5 min pickup estimate for one coffee. He didnt even begin making it until i told him i was here to pick it up and then proceeded to tell me it was a work in progress when he hadnt began any of his orders (i could see the whole thing from where i was standing) his coworker was completely snarky once she saw i was dissatisfied and gave me a whole attitude. I was of course upset, but just so you all know apparently the customer is not always right at this store. After years of coming here, never again. Rude and unwelcoming customer service. read more

I come to BLK dot all the time. I got a $7 iced coldbrew and it tasted like watered down coffee. So I came back in and asked " could I please get something else? I come here all the time for your coffee and it just tastes so watered down this time." They didn't even offer to get me something else and charged me AGAIN $7. Great place! Had a foamy ice coffee. Perfect! I don't know why people would complain that it isn't sweet. That is the whole point a lot of us want to control our sugar level. 10/10 would recommend. The coffee is strong and excellent! read more

This is probably my least favorite location for Blk. I just find the staff here to be very unwelcoming and unhelpful. They rush you through your order and has a more of a "what do you want" attitude. The shop is also really small with no seating. There is communal seating outside but if its cold out you are shit out of luck. I do think their drinks are pretty good though but just pricey. I paid $6.50 for a regular (which is basically a small) espresso drink. Oh and they do not take cash. read more

I've been here 4 times and cannot wait to come back. I love their VTMatcha (viet iced coffee with matcha on top), Passion fruit green tea, and Peach lychee iced tea. Their clear crystal boba is better than regular boba. They are able to adjust levels to sweetness. My friend recommends their Hot White Chocolate. Parking is easy. Service is friendly. I wished they opened later in the day as well. read more

Service was super quick! Needed a pick-me-up and WOW. I haven't had a good Vietnamese coffee in a long time. Most shops claim to use condensed milk and idk which one they're using but Blk Dot uses the right one! Woot woot!! Also grabbed a large iced vanilla oat milk latte and ...Heaven! I usually come to blk dot once or twice a week if I'm lucky. I enjoy there food and drinks. My current obsession would be their iced matcha Vietnamese coffee. The two stars has to do with the service received today. There was probably five employees today, not one person had a smile on today which I found very unwelcoming and weird since I've been here a few times. I ordered two iced coffee one with ice on the side, avocado toast, apple juice, hot chocolate and chocolate croissant. Five minutes later they tell me they're out of apple juice which I was ok with since they had lemonade, I received my drinks both with ice, and toast about 10minutes later. I waited a few more minutes and still have not received the chocolate croissant having to remind them only to be told they were out of the chocolate croissant as well. I had my one year old daughter in my arms. It would have been nice if employees were aware of my large order and offered a drink tray and bag. They seen me waiting not one person asked or checked if everything was received. Items were out of stock which should have been told when the order was given not when the customer ask where there item is. Don't get me wrong I enjoy BlkDot but todays service was definitely horrible and should be addressed. read more

Don't let the modern decor fool you. This local OC chain is serving up some authentic Vietnamese Coffee aka VTM. ITEM'S ORDERED: VTM (Original Vietnamese Coffee) VTMatcha (Vietnamese Coffee + Matcha) TASTE: The VTM here is well made & what I expect from a good Vietnamese coffee. Strong dark roast coffee flavor balanced out (not overtaken) by the sweetness of condensed milk. Coffee strength is quite present so I could see this maybe being too strong for some people. I do see they also offer a lighter version as well. Towards the middle/end it did get somewhat too sweet & creamy for me, but I am a big strong coffee fan. VTMatcha is exactly what the name implies. For the matcha fans, the ratio of matcha to coffee is on the matcha side. & On the plus side the earthy matcha flavor is not lost. So it comes together with the Viet coffee to make a tasty drink. SERVICE, LOCATION, & PARKING: Service was very good right when we walked in. Cashier was friendly & the girl who gave the drinks to me was kind as well. Just FYI, they don't accept cash. It's a pretty small interior with no inside seating. Pretty sure it's not just a covid thing since I don't see where they'd even put inside tables/seats. Looks like there were 3 tables outside. Interior is a simple, clean look which is still inviting. I like how the ceilings are high to make the small place seem larger. This BLKdot is located Marketplace Long Beach (corner of PCH & 2nd Street) with several other businesses (Trader Joe's, Veggie Grill, etc). There's ample amount of parking & I found a spot right in front on an early Saturday afternoon. FINAL THOUGHTS: Little bit pricey here since you are buying from a newer/modern coffee shop in a nicer area. The VTM was basically $6 while the VTMatcha was basically $7. BLKdot VTM reminds me of the house coffee at 7 Leaves, but stronger. Which makes sense since the VTM does not have the sea foam to subdue/counter balance the coffee strength. It they used crushed ice I'd be even happier. Just makes it that much better to me. They use bamboo straws which hold up much better than paper & are more eco friendly than plastic. I like this. Could you find a similar (maybe better?) Vietnamese coffee at a more "mom & pop" location for lower cost? Yes Could you serve the VTM to your Vietnam born auntie & they'd give it the stamp of approval? Yes Would your Vietnam born auntie approve of this price? No Would I come here again? Yes read more

I've been a fan of BLKdot Coffee since I've tried them in Irvine! They have really delicious Vietnamese coffee and avocado toasts. I'm so glad they opened one up in Long Beach. This location is in the plaza by the Marina, next to Trader Joes. Parking is ample as it's a huge plaza with many stores. The shop itself is small, no room for indoor seating, but there are a few tables outside. I usually get the VTM Tiger (has delicious qq brown sugar jelly), Green Tiger, or VT Matcha. Always strong and tasty. The toasts and sammies are pretty good too! I recommend the spicy avocado egg toast or the cali chicken sammie. Service is friendly and energetic! Love this spot, and I'll definitely be coming here regularly! read more

Food and drinks at @blkdotcoffee. They were welcoming and friendly! They made an extra Vietnamese iced coffee and ask if I wanted it, woohoo! I ordered an Iced Chai Latte and a Brekkie bowl! The staff were so kind and welcoming. Having great service is huge in my book. I used to go to the Irvine spectrum location but glad they opened one up in Long Beach! It's in the same plaza as Trader Joe's which I love. I love blk dot, I go to the new one they just opened in Cypress. That location is so much better, the service here at this location is not up to par. Everyone seems so miserable, no good mornings, no smiles. It's quiet, the staff just seem like they do not want to be here. Came her for a quick pick up. Ordered a Spanish Latte and jalapeño bagel with cream cheese. I didn't realize how much the bagel was until I saw my receipt. $6.20 for a bagel and cream cheese! That is pretty ridiculous. Probably won't be getting food from here anymore. read more

Food: I know Blk Dot is known for their Vietnamese coffee, but I have come to really like their mocha. It has a nice (albeit not very strong) flavor and is really consistent. If you want a sweet coffee without a strong espresso flavor, I highly recommend. I have also tried their Ultimate Brekkie Bowl, which is delicious and surprisingly hearty. Aesthetic: It's very clean. They don't have seating, save for one picnic table outside, but it's definitely a good choice if you want a coffee to go. Service: I have been several times, and the workers are always more than friendly. read more

I started with a cup of their beef and barley soup. My wife and I both make this at home from scratch and we're both impressed by theirs. My wife took a taste of mine and instantly ordered her own. Very rich and flavorful. I kept looking at photos of their take on chicken and waffles and knew I had to try it. Seriously epic and was good as it looked. They coated the chicken in a chili rub that gave it a sweet and spicy flavor when paired with their maple syrup. Served on top of a waffle and topped with an egg. I loved it and would probably order again on my next visit. My wife had the American plate which was your classic eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sourdough toast combo. High quality ingredients elevated it beyond your typical diner food. Drinks were great too. I had their house made bloody mary which had a nice kick to it. My wife had their brunch version of a Corpse Reviver cocktail. After our meals were done we finished with an Irish coffee since everyone was ordering them. Perfect service, relaxing atmosphere, and delicious food will definitely have me returning very soon! Parking is free for 2 hours at the nearby garage on 3rd and is a very short walk. The closer garage on Broadway is not free. You can make restaurant reservations on their website but it wasn't needed when we went.

TLDR; It's expensive, and not worth the routine visit, but worth the one-time stop in to experience the festivities. The Miracle pop-up at The Ordinarie is somehow even more decorated and extravagant than you'd expect from a seasonal pop-up. The line looks long outside, as there are no reservations, but it moves quickly since they hold everybody to a pretty strict 2-hour time limit. The drinks are good, the cups are cute, and everyone is festive. It's an all-around fun experience. I think because of this, you do pay a premium price tag for food and drinks that are just good or okay. I think it's something that is worth the visit if you've never been and you enjoy getting into the Christmas spirit. I think that outside of the pop-up, The Ordinarie is a fun spot to check out in Long Beach. It't not a pillar of the food scene if you're a tourist, but it is a good, late night spot if you work in the industry nearby. They have a great late-night menu with a killer smash burger.

I had difficulty cutting through the crust with a knife. There is a lot of cayenne in their hollandaise sauce, not my favorite version. The thick slice of tomato was the highlight. Side of bacon $6 for two measly pieces - overcooked and too crunchy. I could tell the bacon would have been good if it was more on the meaty/chewy side. This came with a potato pancake which was like mashed potatoes mixed with cheese and then fried. Service was okay, I think because it was pretty busy. They may need more staff to help the servers with drink refills and to check in more frequently. Lastly, our table was very wobbly and we had to fix it with sugar packets otherwise our drinks would have toppled.

Training can be a little hectic some times when you're in the service industry and sometimes it can slow service down. Our server Ben was on it. We had the grilled artichoke, chicken piccata, and the cioppino. All very very delightful. During our dining experience I needed to use the restroom. The smell in their bathroom was amazing. Probably one of the best smelling restrooms I had ever. When I was leaving, I politely ask the hostess if she knew what the name of the smell was bc it was so awesome. She wasn't telling me the exact name. She essentially told me the essence. While in the middle of her talking, a female manager aggressively told us that they were not aloud to tell patrons the scent. Hey, I get it, but as a person who was a manager for one of the highest ranking upscale casual dining restaurants, who has worked in 5 star resorts, knowing how to provide kindness to both guests and staff, this manager did not present those skills. This manager was quite frankly disrespectful not only to her staff, but to me. There is a way to handle situations without embarrassing your staff member and making them feel small and showcasing your flex of power to a diner who was about to drop hundreds for a dinner in our volatile economy. This manager did NOT handle this appropriately. Like i said, she was rude, extremely aggressive to respond, and not once smiled and said, "I'm so glad you love it. It's our secret to get you to come back." She did try to say it was a secret, but seriously... with the way she treated her staff.... I think she better focus on hospitality rather than the scent in the bathroom. After this interaction, I actually watched and observed the manager during the remaining time of our dinner. I wanted to see how she interacted with her staff. I wanted to see if she knew how to manage without flexing on her staff bc obviously she doesn't know that words matter and what you say and how you say it can make or break your staff's entire night which can reflect on how they treat their guests. I get this is lengthy over a restroom scent, but as a person who thrives on seeing the beauty in how a management team can make a huge impact on the success of a company, if she's openly rude and aggressive to me and her hostess, how is she with the rest of the staff and guests? Just a little food for thought. I will say, that interaction totally changed my view for the remaining time of our dinner. I truly hope that the female manager who was working last night June 1 reads this and changes the way she handles situations. From what I saw and experienced, she needs to take a step back and regroup. She needs to be retrained on how to treat her staff, how to smile with kindness, and how to kindly make a joke about the scent kindly with laughter rather than an attack on her staff. To the hostess: I'm sorry you had to be treated that way. You were incredibly kind from upon greeting us even to the very end. You're awesome. I'll return back, but I do hope next time, the manager from last night is on a better wave length as the people who help create her position. There are a lot of great managers out there willing to take that place.
