First time coming to this place. Coffee and bagel were absolutely delicious. But, I must say customer service is HORRIBLE. This place is NOT welcoming at all. Cashier/barista had a long face since we entered took a while for her or the other gal to even acknowledge us as we were the only ones waiting to order. I wish i catched the name of the girl who attended us she needs little more training in customer service. That's how you get customers to come back. Customer service is key to any business. As a PAYING customer I wouldn't come back to a place were I don't feel welcomed. Must point out the cashier asked me if my puppy was a service dog. I said No she told me then you have to wait outside animals aren't allowed in here. I didn't see a sign but wasn't in the mood to point that out to her. Wonderful coffee and efficient service. This coffee shop is placed right next to a Tesla Supercharging station so it was nice getting to grab coffee while I waited. During prime coffee hours (7ish), it wasn't too busy and my drink was ready in less than 5 minutes. If you're in a rush, you can also make a mobile order ahead of time. I decided to try the VTM iced coffee and it was quite nice. It was rich, sweet, bold, with a small amount of chocolate notes in the coffee. I will most likely order this again when I come back! Note: If you are looking for a coffee shop to study at, this is probably not going to be it. As someone who is preferably coffee for caffeine exchange, I like that blkdot have a variety of items on their menu. This place is a must if you need strong coffee and delicious taste. For a lactose intolerant, however, the menu was a bit limited. Due to the fact that their Vietnamese coffee is already mixed with dairy for all their yummy popular coffee. Fortunately, the cashier/barista was very helpful in giving me and my boyfriend tips on what to order. I got a normal iced coffee, no sugar, and he got matcha latte less sugar and oat milk. Let me tell you, the black ice coffee is not sour nor bitter. Also, I didn't have a stomachache even after drinking this 30 minutes before eating something solid. They might not have an extensive coffee menu, but I appreciate they know how to make their coffee right. Dining area: There are a couple of small tables outfront and quantity chairs for people to enjoy coffee and the sun. Parking: they share a lot with TRADER JOES, jersey Mike's, a shipping store, and other small stores. Have stopped by this spot a few times per a friendly suggestion, & was hooked! Out of the few quality matcha option in Long Beach, this by far set the expectation. The Uji Matcha Einspänner (I butcher this word so terribly) has such a unique flavoring, with rich, earthy tones in the tea itself to being balanced out by the sweetness of the cream top & chocolate dusting. It comes in at a great deal too, never hitting over $8, which for a Uji, is incredible! While I can't speak for their coffee/espresso selection, nor their teas, I will compliment their intriguing-ness. The shop does lack a seat spacing, with the exception of a few staggering tables & chairs outside. It's located in a smaller shopping center, & across from an even larger one, so taking your beverage with you on a stroll along the shops- or even the shore may be more ideal than sitting. I highly recommend this shop to matcha enthusiasts in the area, looking to try something worth their while. 9/10 read more

Drinks were really great, the espresso tasted really fresh and wasn't burnt at all like some other places. I like their small food options too, they offer classics. The interior was modern and light. Been a fan of blk dots Vietnamese coffee for years and had to stop by a new location. I got a large iced VTM and it was great. Definitely catering towards the coffee lovers and tastes really authentic. It's super strong but has the perfect mix of sweet and creamy. I like to let the ice melt a bit as the drink lasts longer and it lightens the strength a bit. The only downside is how expensive their coffee is so I don't visit often. This location also had no seating which was interesting and definitely caters to the grab and go type of people. But another great VTM! read more

Mixed feelings. Like their food selection and the food itself, but when you are forced to sit outside, they should have the courtesy of letting you know the food is ready. Mine sat on the counter for at least 5 minutes when I finally decided to go in to find out when my food was going to be ready. They could at least have popped their head out the door and let us know it was ready. It was not that busy. I'm also not a huge fan of their coffee. I do not put sugar in my coffee or espresso so that I can taste the natural sweetness. This is over roasted and bitter. If you like sweet drinks, then it's probably OK for you. I went in got a coffee yesterday before work and two women working there were acting as if I was invisible. Another customer came in right after me and she noticed as well until I said "hello", the two women working seemed infatuated about a magazine that were reading and was given attitude when she stared to take my order. I will start off by saying that the Dulce vtm coffee is one of the best coffees I've ever had. It was divine. But there was so much ice I couldn't enjoy my drink. I knew i wasn't making it up!!!! I went back to blk dot today hoping i could get the coffee i love made the correct way and not have subpar service! I ordered what i ALWAYS order spicy honey oat latte with only spicy and with almond milk.; i also ordered the avocado toast and the total for them both is $19 so the last thing you want is a bad drink. Their avocado toast is huge and vegan friendly and never disappoints. The guy that took my order was very polite and he also made my coffee and when he gave it to me he said please let me know if i can make any adjustments i was blown away!!!!! Last time i was here my coffee as terrible and the girl argued with me about it. Anyway my coffee was perfect no adjustments were needed and i just hope other baristas here get the training they need.! I love it here so convenient after a workout. read more

Cute place tucked into the back of "The Marketplace" next to Trader Joes, Rubies and BevMo. It is unassuming and subtle. If you are not looking for it, you just might miss it. Very modern and clean. The staff was very friendly and greeted me warmly. Got in there at 8am and was one of the only people there. I asked about the Vietnamese coffee process because I have been lied to before where something on the menu was described as "vietnamese coffee" and was really just extra espresso and condensed milk. The barista went into detail about how proud they are of their process, that it is traditional, slow drip and takes between 24-36 hours to complete and is their way her mother still does it when she visits her. One look at the menu and I could see that VTM coffee was featured at the top of the hot and cold menus, so I could tell it was their specialty. No way was I going to order anything else. Plus, Vietnamese coffee is one of my favorite coffee drinks on the menu at any place anyways.  I ordered a large for $6.15, which I have to say is pretty standard pricing for Viet Coffee and it came out huge, so I was not disappointed. At places like Lee's Sandwiches, it can come out with basically all ice and a little liquid. Not here. It was legit a ton of coffee and cubed ice rather than crushed ice (another Lee's Sandwiches trick) so it made room for more liquid. The taste was smokey, full-bodied and delicious. I don't like to cheat on my other #1 love for Viet Coffee, Knead Donuts on 7th/Redondo, but goddamn! This is some next level sh**. Wow! completely floored by the quality of the coffee. Not over sweetened with the condensed milk and like I said, Viet Coffee is already one of the more expensive things on the menu even when it sucks, so $6.15 I will gladly pay for something this high quality and with such a complex taste experience. I also got a chocolate croissant, which they promptly asked if they could heat up for me. I was out the door for $11 and felt like a king. I would highly recommend this place. read more

Drinks are fine if a bit sweet, toasts are very salty, prices are personally too high to justify. This was my first visit to a BLKdot coffee location and i was excited to see a Viet cafe open up in LB where you'd mainly find Western coffeeshops. I like that that have both a good variety of food and drinks, and both coffees and teas. Their signature viet coffee is strong, sweet, and creamier than other types. It's a good introduction to vietnamese-style coffee that hits the spot and gets you wired after a few sips. Personally I prefer less sweet, but unfortunately they can't really adjust sweetness on that cuz I guess it's premixed. I also got a peach green tea with lychee which was refreshing-- pretty standard. Foodwise, we were recommended the hot honey avocado toast, which is apparently unique to this location. It had avocado, bacon, hot honey, and chili flakes. The spicy honey is different but it works, and I liked that the bread was thick and crisp to the bite. Unfortunately they seasoned the bread with so much flaky salt it almost hurt to keep eating. Please go lighter on the salt! Also I felt the avocado was placed a bit sloppy on the toast, that it easily slipped off as you eat. I would echo other reviews that mention the menu prices are surprisingly high. Our slice of avocado toast was something like $12 which I just don't find worth it. I'm sure they have their reasons to price this way but it just isn't sustainable for me to visit often. read more

Stopped here after going to the Trader Joe's next door. The Coffee Bean that was immediately next door closed awhile ago so it's nice to have a place to grab some coffee. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized it's primarily a Vietnamese coffee shop! I really think Vietnamese coffee is the best out there. They make a Vietnamese coffee that's traditional and hard to find outside of little Saigon that's authentic. My husband doesn't think so but he's not Vietnamese so I don't think his opinion counts as much, haha. We had the VTM coffee which I really liked, and the avocado toast and breakfast banh mi. I felt like the avocado toast was a little lacking in avocado (kind of just a light spread), but the breakfast banh mi was a good take on a traditional banh mi. Would definitely come back! read more

Only giving 4 and not 4.5 bc there is one or two areas that could be improved: I wish they would take cash & switch out the plastic white straws they use for a better quality brand straw bc in the past I've had the straw tip break into sharp edges as I'm sipping on it.
