This place has a huge selection but the customer service is spotty. If you come during the week, most people are begging to help you. If you try a weekend, you basically have to yank on people's chain to give you an ounce of time. Kyle Fraser was the rep who helped us out when looking to attire my husband. He haphazardously assisted us, until he realized we were serious about buying everything from shoes to a suit to cufflinks, and so on. Then he was our best friend for the day and extremely helpful. So great selection but service is truly hit or miss. read more

EEK IM GOING TO DEBT HELL BECAUSE OF THIS PLACE...so i went the second day after they opened and i absolutely fell in love and was OVERWHELMED... i literally was on a shopping high.. i hate how i am a frivolous shopper, but i a firm believer of retail therapy...i bought some juicy couture bangles and this one employee hooked me up with a free juicy wallet and to add she was like this is the last one. i love her because she was such a sweetheart. a downside: TOO MANY DAMN PEOPLE.... geez i couldnt breathe. i too was one of those who got sucked into getting a store credit card which i might mention that i will tear up when i receive it. shoot i just wanted the free bag and umbrella for mother. enough said. all in all i love this store but i wish they had more selections for the ladies read more

The lay-out, ambiance, and service is better than Nieman's and Sak's by far. What a great selection of...everything! You can literally spend hours browsing one floor. Their denim selection is extensive. Just lately I bought a pair of Paige jeans from their PETITE line which is custom-made for ultra thin short women. How lovely is that?! I'm so glad Bloomingdale's is now in SF. I wish they didn't have a whole section dedicated to fur, but the rest of their store makes it too hard not to shop here. read more

I went here for the sole purpose of exchanging my Jimmy Choo's for a different size. I was very surprised of the service I received. Really surprised! First off, they only had one remaning shoe in my size for which the shoes I was returning. I coudln't beleive the condition of the shoe-- it wasn't sellable! The shoe was dirty-- really dirty and they weren't going to do anything about it--NOTHING! They offered to clean it, but didn't want to guarantee that it was going to come out nice. They did offer to call other stores to find out if they had my pairs of shoes and unfortunatlely, they didn't, but they left it at that. I just couldn't beleive that they were trying to resell a dirty shoe at full retail price. Unbelievable. The Beverly Hills Jimmy Shoe store which is their flagship store was way better and plus they had a whole better selection to choose from. read more

What can I say! Bloomingdale's is one of my favorite department store to go in SF. The entrance to the mall is connected to the Powell station from Muni/Bart, I can even go there during rainy days without worrying about the weather. I always have fun even just browsing through their makeup/ fragrance department since they have a large collection. They have a variety of demin brands such as J Brand, Joe's Jeans, Sevens, to Citizens. This is a must-go place for girls who love to shop for jeans! read more

Snoody, snobby and very unfriendly! The Lancome Counter in Cosmetics needs a good cleaning! Everything is dirty, untidy and doesn't make you want to touch anything. I have seen much better in less pretencious stores. The only upside is that they do have a large selection. read more

It's about friggin time....what is it like 10 years in the making? I couldn't go on opening day, but went the Friday night, but was slightly inhibited by my wonderful husband who was with me...so I made a date with a gal friend to go back the following week. I cut work a little early, and got there around 4:30- great time to shop by the way...I highly recommend it. I headed straight to makeup...and found myself in a wonderfully fun conversation and makeover with the Nars rep. He did a fabulous job on my makeup, knew exactly how to do an asian women's eyemakeup (which is no small feat)- and when his counterpart showed up from break we had quite a gab fest!!! I NEVER let makeup people do my face...but for some reason felt this guy could do it- and he did. I bought a bunch of the items he had put on me-Wonderful service! Then when my gal friend showed up, we had a heck of a time looking at all the expensive clothes I couldn't afford, but up on the floor with Marc Jacobs, we found our niche! We had an extra cool sales "specialist" helping us (he was actually a Juicy Coutour specialist) but who cares- and his knowledge and fun helpfulness was a breath of fresh air. We shopped, bought and were entertained at the same time...it doesn't get any better, it's about time. (I just try to forget they are owned by Macy's). read more

Stepping into the new Bloomingdales was such an anticipated event, I nearly missed the architectural beauty of the store for all the goodies inside! Blurred visions of Elle Tahari mixed with wafting perfumes and smiling Bobbi Brown cosmetics girls swirled in my mind as I was handed a bright yellow bag and an umbrella to match. Oh, it is like being a princess whenever I visit Bloomies, which explains why my lunch hour has now mysteriously been extended 15 minutes longer, and my credit card has reached its limit. I love love love this place! It is my sanctuary! Don't go on a weekend though, you will regret it! The crowds can get out of control! If you do make it on a weekday take your time and walk through each area, you are sure to find something that you will LOVE! I recently bought a purse there and it's been a long time since I have found a purse that I felt I liked enough to fork over a lot of money for. Plus they are part of this huge mall with movie theatres and a fantastic food court. They don't even have one fast food chain in there like McDonalds! read more

Wow! Wonderful service, luxurious feel to the store, GREAT SALES, and (being from the East Coast) it felt like home! I'm one of those people who was in the restaurant business for a long time--and service, good service makes a big difference. I was wonderfully atttended to throughout the store. I also really appreciate bathrooms that are well cared for--and have a luxurious feel--and they do! I use their credit card to buy my food, gas and other things that are a part of living in the city--and I get Bloomingdales certificates to spend. I appreciate this bonus and am very happy to see such a great department store in SF. Parking is relatively easy @5th and Mission I think. read more

When in San Francisco... go to Bloomingdales! I know that some people think this store is just Macy's in disguise, But I am not in that camp. I think Bloomingdales has some of the finest ideas of how to get a woman to take notice there is. First, It is a beautiful store. Next, it's laid out so well. It has some of the best designers there are, ones you don't always find in bigger stores. Then, it's well lit, the music isn't overwhelming ( overplayed top 10's) It's clean and professionally run. I don't know which is worse. Having someone follow me around pretending they're NOT following me around, or the employees looking at me like I can't afford to buy anything here, or they turn the other way when you get near them. I've consistently had exceptional customer service in the men's (and women's ) lounge at Bloomingdale's. For the most part the ladies and gentleman are unpretentious, welcoming, and even dear. They're happy to give advice, always at your service and make shopping easy and fun. This is the only department store location I've ever visited (even better than their larger East Coast stores) where I can call ahead and have the merchandise ready, packed and waiting for me at the counter. Tracy in the Luggage department is OUTSTANDING. Jonathan in Men's shoes makes the experience a breeze. He's professional, courteous, and down-to-earth. You know, I must admit I was a little surprised but I love this store. Everyone that I have dealt with here has been sweet and helpful. They have a great selection of Women's clothing, particularly dresses. I have found both casual and cocktail dresses here - my biggest problem has always been picking one rather than even finding one (which I find can be an issue at many places). They certainly can be pricey but on the other hand they have some good sales and not everything is as expensive as you might think. This place has most of the brands that a San Franciscan can concern himself with. Their departments are very well organized and divided and they sell the only pair of Carrerra polarized glasses that I would ever care to buy and a mean selection of cuff links and tie clips to match. Their bathrooms are very clean, i would never think to go anywhere else downtown for bathrooms. We lost a debit card here once inside a changing room in the swimwear department and the lady at the counter saved it and found it for us and even recognized us when I called on the phone. A gorgeous atmosphere with plenty to see. I am a huge fan of the womens' and mens' apparel departments. They carry a bunch of great brands and have a pretty large DVF dress collection and an impressive array of Canali suits. The tailoring here is always done on time and it is good. I also have a mild obsession with the home department - home to a great assortment of goodies ranging from cutlery, electrics, bedding, and beautiful china (it takes up the entire basement of the store). I personally have been a Bloomingdales shopper for years, and prefer this location over the Palo Alto, Century City and Beverly Ctr spots. Friendly staff, awesome discounts, and if you are a presidential card holder, parking is always free...a very cool thing for SF! read more

Always one of the highlights to a trip to SF. Love to walk through here and grab my much needed Malin & Goetz pit protection and pomade, have to complain about one thing though, last time a rep was there from Malin and he was a total douche. Tried to scare me away from other products, even making the accusation that Jack Black products would give me cancer. Over the weekend Saturday night my boyfriend and I went to watch a movie at Westfield Mall after the movie I needed to use the bathroom so I told my boyfriend let's go to Bloomingdale's he waited outside, when I went in the women's lounge I noticed five black young girls sitting in the lounge area playing really loud rap music, then when I went inside the bathroom I was already in the stall I noticed two of them followed me inside the bathroom but thank god I was already inside the stall but I can hear their loud rap music I knew they were standing in front of my door is like they were waiting for me to come out so they can rob me. I just had this bad feeling so I stayed inside the stall I called Bloomingdale's security and let them know I was in there. I finally heard other women come in the bathroom and I didn't hear the music anymore that's when I came out, I saw two of them standing outside by the door and when I pass by them I heard them say oh she's with her boyfriend so I new they were going to follow me probably beat and rob me especially if I was by myself. What was weird that night that floor just seemed deserted I didn't see any workers around. I was the only one in the bathroom so they thought that was their chance. Those girls were targeting women who would come in there by themselves so they can attack them. After that incidence I alerted security to tell them to make sure they make their rounds up and down those floors. These girls were just sitting in there doing nothing playing there music and just waiting for the right opportunity. Ladies please be careful when going to the rest rooms not just at Bloomingdale's but anywhere in public these girls are waiting around for opportunities, is the summer kids are out of school and they are just hanging around. Make sure when you go to any restrooms there's a few of you guys together and make sure there's other people in the restrooms. Don't ever go in there by yourselves. It's so sad that people are out there robbing people, beating them up! I just thank god nothing happened to me. read more

Ooooh, the brand new bloomingdales was all the hype when it first opened, and I didn't have a chance to go there until now. The place was marvelous, truly a shopping paradise!!! I loved the interior decoration especially the black and white marble floors, and everything was so shiny and new. I love this place, and they have everything that a girl could ever want. I love their handbag corner that includes Louis Vuitton store, Christian Dior, and other brands like Juicy Couture, Le Sportsac and such. Although most of the clothes are very pricey, you can find some deals at the small sale racks. I wish I could have bought something, but couldn't make up my mind on what to buy...there is just so many things I want *sigh..... Too many overpriced items. read more

Just love it! Used to be one of my favorite department stores for years. Although I had to make a special trip from SF to Stanford Shopping Center for it. My overall sense (I maybe wrong) that it became a little more expensive, but is still "reasonably" priced compared to other downtown dept. stores. One thing, though - I recently had a very unpleasant encounter with their customer service manager. Wanted to return a $100 Ralph Lauren men's sweater that I purchased as a backup birthday gift to a friend, was not sure about, and, finally decided on something else. Did inquire about return policy in advance - was told that "unused, not-warn, with tags attached and receipts" should not be a problem. I planned to return it right away and ... forgot about it completely. About almost half-a-year later, tried to return it and was offered $23.00 (clearance price!). I tend to be, how to say it nicely, disorganized, so I was getting into exactly same situations before with cheaper stores (like Express) and never minded that the sale price was offered, as the salespeople were usually very explicit about their somewhat restrictive return policy at the time of purchase. On the other hand, in Newman, Saks and Nordstrom - late returns had never been a problem! I told the manager that I had no way of knowing that the clearance price would have been offered and asked him to show me the return policy. The manager, who was a relatively young boy was extremely irritated did not even pretend to "serve a customer". He told me that those decisions were entirely within his discretion!!! When I proposed to accept a store-credit (which would have been immediately spent), he refused and basically sent me to hell. Would this experience turn me away from the store? No. Was I mad? Not at all, just surprised... hence, 3 stars. read more
