Had two very different experiences here, just two nights apart. First was a Thursday. Service was horrible. Probably a solid 30 minutes before we were acknowledged. Wine after wine was unavailable. Little interaction by the waiter (for a restaurant of this level, I expect quite a bit more). Ordered the filet, medium rare. It was burnt to a crisp. Overall, I couldn't wait to get out of there. Fast forward to Saturday. Service was amazing. Very attentive, friendly and great sense of humor. Ordered the short ribs this time around. AMAZING. Went with my family today. The food here has progressively gone downhill. The server was a nice guy but the food was horrible. I ordered the mahi mahi and it WAS NOT FRESH. It wreaked. And the taste was awful. I could literally only eat two bites. For me and one other person our meal was $135. That's with no alcohol. I've been here 5 times. It's been worse and worse. I've never even eaten here and am already disappointed. My parents celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary yesterday and I called ahead to send them a bottle of wine and dessert for their dinner. The hostess, Adriana, told me her manager would have to send my a credit card authorization form in order to do so. I never received the form and didn't get to do something nice for my parents on their special day. They sent me a picture that they loved the pop overs so there's that but I'm disappointed non the less that I couldn't do something nice for my parents to celebrate their milestone. The food is good, but completely over priced. The wine especially averages $23 per glass. If you're staying at the hotel you most likely don't care about the pricing, but to over spend on decent food and then be stuck with a $16 parking fee when you just came for dinner feels pretty crappy. I had the lobster salad and was extremely underwhelmed with the iceberg lettuce and lack of all other quality ingredients. We went on NYE's and the service had to be the worst I've ever experienced and the food was not good! The place was not very full and we still got bad service. We had to wait 20 mins for our drinks every time we ordered one and the 5 course meal took soooo long that by the time our main dish came we were full from eating the bread because we were so hungry. I was hesitant to have a Thanksgiving meal away from home but my brother in law Chris talked me into a trip to Miami. He recently received a settlement from the Weinstein company from his intern days and was feeling generous. The best luxury buffet I have ever had. The service and selection and quality were all excellent. Of course, when he check came Chris claimed to have left his wallet at the villa so I got stuck paying for dinner for the family and Chris's parole officer that had to attend since he left the state. Our waiter was great but rotated off our table mid shift because Chris kept telling him boring stories and jokes and claimed he should be able to use a Groupon. The food was great and the hotel was amazing. Now I just have to get Chris to pay me back but if history holds I won't see a dime. read more

I definitely recommend BLT Prime. We were guests at the property and this was a birthday celebration for my husband and we were not disappointed. We sat in a romantic half-moon booth facing out to the sunset overlooking the 18th hole, so the view was really nice. While the atmosphere overall is not romantic, we made it as much as we could. The meal started with toast points and liver mousse (one of my favorites!) then we shared the seafood tower -- the oysters were delicious! We had the lamb, cooked medium and a filet, cooked medium rare. They prepared it to temperature and were very tasty! The sides to share are on the smaller side compared to other steakhouses. And of course, the popovers are AMAZING! It was hard to stop eating them. For dessert we ordered the soufflé to go and had a little sweetness to end the night. The service was very good - from the Sommelier and the numerous server assistants, who all were happy to help! read more

I own a business and I think a company is all about moral, and their manager seemed to be a good team leader, as opposed to numerous restaurants I have been in and observed. We started off with fresh out of the oven gruyere cheese popovers which were outstanding, followed by their grilled bacon which was full of flavor and a tuna tartar that was extraordinary to say the least. Finally main course, my wife had the Dover sole which she let me taste and we both conquer it was the best docersole we've had anywhere period, I had a Cowboy ribeye Oscar style with lobster,asparagus, and hollandaise sauce truly one the best steaks I've had period. The succulent lobster paired wonderfully with the flavors of the steak. We had truffled mash potatoes and cream spinach. All which were great suggestions from our knowledgeable waiter. This restaurant has the best food and service in Miami! My wife and I regularly eat at expensive, upscale restaurants and there is no comparison to BLT. We routinely entertain all of our friends, family and out of town guests here and it feels like a second home. Mauro Mejia, the GM at BLT, Andrea, and their staff make you feel welcomed and appreciated the second you walk in. First, we warm up at the bar for expertly crafted cocktails or a glass of wine from the impressive wine list. Then, we are escorted into the dining room and select from the expansive menu of steak and seafood. We start with the fresh seafood and fresh honey cured bacon appetizers, usually followed by the Wagyu ribeye or the Dover sole, and several sides, all selectively paired with delicious, quality wine with the help of Lazaro, the inhouse expert. Finally, we top it all off with a nice port or some cappuccino, and then walk around the lovely resort grounds enjoying the scenery. If you have not been to BLT then you likely have not experienced fine dining at its best and I highly recommend it! read more

Hard to complain about any BLT restaurant. The food was great and the view of the golf course at Doral is absolutely amazing. The service was equally great... I ate lunch and had a salad with grilled steak which was cooked perfectly. My only observation is that the menu prices seemed higher than other BLT Prime restaurants that I have dined at (both NY and DC)... I guess that is what happens when you are at the Trump Doral Resort and there are not too many other options nearby... read more

I came here a few nights ago for what, unfortunately, ended up being a pretty disappointing dinner. I was staying at the Trump National Doral for a conference and attended a large business dinner there. My expectations were high - the hotel was absolutely wonderful, and I assumed that the dining options on the premises would be no different. So, if I'm being honest, this would probably be a 3 star review if it was anywhere else. But the standard was set so high due to everything else about the hotel, the disappointment felt much worse. The restaurant itself is very pretty. It's dark, dimly lit, with dark wood and gold accents. It looks like an old school boys club, where you can imagine a bunch of guys catching a drink after a long day of golfing. In fact, I'm sure that's probably what it's used for quite often. We sat outside, where there are two levels for seating and a gorgeous view of the golf course. The only problem there is that it's covered seating but only the bottom level had fans or anything to cool them down. Sitting on the top level I can say that the summer Miami humidity got to all of us. Fans all around would have been much appreciated! The real disappointment was with the food. First they started with popovers, which happen to be their signature thing. They were pretty good - warm, doughy, topped with gruyere. But they weren't out of this world. Did I enjoy them? Yes - I think we all did. Is it at a level beyond any other popover I've ever had? Probably not. They did include a little card with each serving that had the recipe, and I loved that! It's a nice little souvenir for people like me who like to cook. I'll probably even try to make them one day. Then they started bringing out the food, which was in constant rotation. The customer service was wonderful and there was just a ton of food - it reminded me almost of Fogo de Chao! Here was the rundown of what we had: CAESAR SALAD: Completely and utterly drenched in dressing. So dressing heavy that it was almost inedible. It also didn't even necessarily taste like Caesar dressing. There seemed to be a heavy mustard component for some reason. TUNA TARTARE: I didn't try it but the presentation was beautiful with a layer of avocado on the bottom and chopped, raw tuna on top. I did hear that it was seasoned well. CRAB CAKE: Maybe I'm a Maryland snob, but these were just not good. Shredded crab meat instead of jumbo lump and lots of filler. It seemed to be coated with a thick layer of something that seemed like Panko breadcrumbs. GRILLED NY STEAK: Very chewy. My co-worker thought it tasted funny and subsequently stopped eating it. ROASTED ORGANIC CHICKEN: Flavored well, but the skin was a little bit too goopy. GINGER CRUSTED AHI TUNA: More cooked than you would usually see in a seared ahi tuna dish. The ginger fell right off and some of it was burned. YUKON MASHED POTATOES: Delicious!! Very, very creamy and buttery. I would be scared to see the nutrition facts. HEN OF THE WOODS MUSHROOMS: I didn't try these because I don't like mushrooms, but I heard they were delicious. The presentation, in a cast iron skillet, was beautiful, too. GRILLED ASPARAGUS: Lightly charred and not overly oily - pretty good. So here in lies the problem - the best thing about the meal was the sides! And how hard is it to make mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus? Sorry, but when the main proteins are all underwhelming (and sometimes nearly inedible), I just can't let something like grilled asparagus kick my opinion up a notch. Perhaps a seated dinner for two would have had a different outcome, but I would not recommend this restaurant for catering a large event. Or maybe just grab some popovers and enjoy a cold drink at the bar. read more

We have been visiting the Doral Resort in Miami for 10 years. We are thrilled with the improvements Trump has made - not the least of which is this delicious steak house. We had lunch and dinner twice during our 5 days and each time was as good as the last. The popovers are such a treat! The food was outstanding - we loved everything from the appetizers (bacon!) to the bronzino and, of course, the steak - but the service is really the most incredible part of this gem. My girlfriend and I dined at the BLT during our recent stay at Trump Doral. First i'll start by saying that we dined here during the PGA tounament so our experience was not as romantic due to the extremely busy weekend the restaraunt had. We had a reservation and we were seated immediately upon our arrival. We were put at a table that had a large group next to us that had a few people that were extremly loud (Not the Restaurants fault). We were brought out popovers to pick on while we eat and I will say these were amazing! I personally have never had them before but the my girlfriend said that these were the best she has ever had. I picked a wine by the glass and I was a bit annoyed when the waiter thought that I may enjoy a different (more expensive) cab more. Needless to say I love a nice heavy cabernet which I had explained to him and what he brought out was not what I was looking for so I was immediatly turned off. I ordered the strip steak while she ordered the jump shrimp. The steak was cooked how I had requested it but the outside was just extremely burnt. I usually don't mind mind a good steak cooked with a little 'crust' on the outside but this just tasted like I was chewing charcoal. The jump shrimp was prepared perfectly and received no complaints. For dessert we decided on the cheesecake and it made for a perfect ending to a decent meal. One thing that had rubbed us the wrong way was the waiter who was overly talkative. While my girlfriend was ordering her entrée he made sarcastic remark which had made her feel uncomfortable. For someone who could not be found when we sat down he could not seem to leave us alone when it came time to enjoy our meal. It took us a few minutes after receiving our meal before we were actually able to dig in due his personal life stories. Besides this I will say it was a positive experience with a table that overlooked the golf course. When we were done with the meal we had both debated if it was worth the money and this is coming from a couple who has dined at some of the best steak houses in the country. read more

This my third visit to BLT Prime; however, it is my first time with a well deserved review. i admire the order and the flow of the staffs execution even when BLT it's in its maximum capacity. The optimistic and experienced recommendations from the manager were on point. Even thought BLT was full, our meal was serve in a timely manner. BLT Prime will not disappoint when it comes to a great meal. Lunch and dinner are over the top delicious! Both the strip & the filet are mouth watering and flavorful. For starters the grilled bacon is excellent while the truffle mashed potatoes and creamed spinach are delicious, and my favorite, side choices. While the meal is over the top, you'll certainly be paying for it. Not an inexpensive meal by any means, so prepare yourself for a hit to your wallet. When I think of a nice night out it usually involves a steakhouse and having been to many including the world famous Berns in Tampa, my bar has risen quite high over time. That being said I was genuinely excited to come to BLT Prime and maybe I expected to much but I figured that anything trump would be sure to impress. And at first glance it did. I would visit the hotel just to sit and have a drink in the lobby and the golf course in which the restaurant perfectly sits in front of is nothing short of spectacular. Here is where things begin to fall short. I like many people usually have a plan of what I'm going to have before I get to the place. In an Internet age it is not uncommon to review a menu on the restaurant website before hand. I was surprised and disappointed when I noticed the menu in the restaurant was quite different than the one online. Now this may seem way too picky but the reality is McDonald's online menu is in sync with their restaurants. And I would give this a pass had it not been for the sever who came by every 5 mins asking what we wanted to order which made me feel a bit rushed. Next the drink menu / wine list was uneventful to say the least. None of the cocktails were remotely intriguing certainly not for $15 a piece which is obscene for anywhere west of Coral Gables. And the wine list.....now a disclaimer, Berns wine list has half a million bottles and I understand that place is a different caliber all together but even in a place where $10k-$30k bottles of vintage wine are a norm, they still have great wines by the glass at $13-$15. BLT had only hand full of reds by the glass at an average closer to $20 per glass...really. I have nothing negative to say about the food. The steak was absolutely perfect, any of the sides they offer would satisfy. I was somewhat disappointed in there appetizer selection though. No soup? What steak house doesn't offer at the very least a lobster bisque...really. That's almost a prerequisite. In fact I was so surprised I even asked the server after not seeing any soup on the menu just to make sure. Then comes the check. The tip is already rolled into the total so it's a little alarming seeing it at first but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We spent a little over $100 per person and that's not the issue. Ive spent more. My issue is, considering the over all experience, it wasn't worth what it cost especially when you can do the same or better in the gables or Brickell for less money. Also it doesn't hurt to mention that valet is $16 plus tip round to $20. Again I'm not trying to nickel and dime my way through it. It's not like I expected I was going to a burger joint, But for Doral and considering the experience, that's just an insult. Would I recommend it? Depends, again despite the uninspiring menu, what they do offer they deliver on successfully and despite it being in Doral, the grounds provide a great setting for a nice night out. If you live in the area and you want to go to a nice place but don't want to make the drive east to some of the more prone areas, then this place will do but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

BLT Prime has a limited menu for lunch but many options for dinner. Meat is first and foremost on the menu and without question it is of high quality. However, the delivery of their exceptional product falls short of expectations. We were initially rushed to order on a night where it was not crowded. The waiter seemed confused as to simple instructions for the opening of two wine bottles. He also copped an attitude when finally grasping our need for the simple task to be completed. (A task I requested 15 minutes earlier) Obviously, one bad waiter does not mean that the entire staff is terrible or that the restaurant is doomed but I can only report what I experienced. Your mileage may vary. Now about the food...I ordered a $24 Shrimp cocktail that was very underwhelming because the cocktail sauce it came with was tangy and lacked any heat or hint of horseradish and tasted like it came from a bottle. I would expect more from such a popular appetizer. I went on to order the double rack of lamb with mint chimichurri sauce. The sauce, or paste in this case tasted bland and was mint free. It consisted of an herb recipe more suited for chicken, not lamb. The lamb itself was fatty and not trimmed. I wonder if they ever taste the sauces they use or if they just use bottled. When asked by the waiter how everything was, our comments prompted a visit from the manager who tried to explain why we were wrong about everything. Hmmm. Now, a manager who questions a customer's opinion instead of offering to help can be problematic for a restaurant, so maybe BLT is doomed after all. read more
