This is another place that seems to be going downhill fast. Just five years ago or so it was a trendy, excellent place for brunch, with creative menu items and everything cooked perfectly and served with a smile. It's kind of a mess now, but maybe they'll right the ship. The last time I ate there I had the steak hash, which is my fave on the menu. Every single part of that dish was poorly executed: - The hash browns were overcooked, flavorless, wretched - The whole dish was under-seasoned and under-salted. Tasted like no salt at all. - The green sauce had a thick skin on it and the mushrooms were overcooked - it's hard to say how the eggs were because after poking and nibbling at this foul plate-vomit, I had completely lost my appetite. (At least they comped the dish, but didn't seem to care much.) Some of that is due to poor culinary execution and other parts may be because it was left to sit under a heat lamp for a very long time. Which brings me to my next point.... The service is a complete disaster now. Once they dropped off my food (and the check with it), they disappeared. The restaurant is using a godawful QR code menu now, and the service is done by committee. And it's really, really bad. No one checked to see how the food was or even filled my coffee. I was legitimately mad at this place -- which, by the way, used to be me and my daughter's favorite place to eat. A special occasion. Waiting 70 minutes for a table used to be worth it. The wait seems to be decreasing, for the above-mentioned reasons, but if I pay $60 for a 2-person breakfast without booze, I expect much better. I haven't been back since that terrible last time, but the two trips before that were subpar as well. I may try it once more but that's it. They have multiple locations which tells me that they're a good quality restaurant. The interior and energy at these restaurants are nice, but not ever Blu Jam location is the same -- some are better than others. The Blu Jam in Sherman Oaks is 5-stars worthy, while the Blu Jam in Tarzana is 3-star worthy. The attention to a heightened customer experience is definitely noteworthy at Sherman Oaks, from fancy water cups, outdoor dining area, good food, etc. The location at Tarzana is the same cost as the food over in Sherman Oaks, but the experience isn't the same. read more

Been coming to Blujam location for a couple years now. The food here has always been consistently good and prepared as desired. Always flavorful and always fresh. The only issue I had this time was regarding one of the staff. We were finishing up our meal and one of the waitresses came and asked us if we were done with the hot sauce and ketchup. We replied "no we're still working on our food" and thanked her. She rolled her eyes, gave a nice little stank-eye and walked away. Love the environment and culture at the Blu Jam Cafe, this location especially has a much shorter wait time compared to the DTLA location. I ordered the Beet salad and added salmon..which was amazing! The salmon was perfectly cooked; crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. However, if your going to call it a "Beet Salad" I expect more that 5 beet slices. Next I had the Blu Jam Benedict with potatoes and this was A+ so I highly recommend ordering this if you come. It helps jump a few numbers than waitlisting at the spot. I ordered make your own omlette as the Vegetarian options are limited. The menu itself is limited and vegetarian options are about 2-3. My omlette had egg whites, spinach, tomatoes, onions and Avacado. It came with a side of small cut potato pieces and really tiny sour dough bread pieces. All of it was just crowded on to one single plate. I was afraid no matter where I put my spoon something is going to spill out. I think overall it was decent but not the best.
