Cute little cafe in the Hollywood area. Came here on a Saturday morning with reservations which was good because it was a bit crowded. We sat in the patio even though it was overcast but it wasn't too chilly at all. Parking here is kind of hard so we just valeted our car for $4.50 after the restaurant validates you. Lots of breakfast options. I chose to create my own omelette and my date chose the Migas which was a egg and chorizo dish. Both were very delicious and tasted like they used fresh ingredients! Definitely a spot you should check out for a nice LA brunch! read more

Came here for Sunday Brunch on my weekend trip in LA to visit a friend! Gotta say this is a must go if you are visiting! We walked so parking wasn't an issue. We arrived around 9am (1 hour after they opened) and it's already popping! We put our name at the hostess podium and was given the choice of inside or outside. Come on, it's October in So-Cal and it's already sunny and hot at 9am in the morning you gotta go with outside! Only waited for about 5-10 minutes tops so that was great! (Come early) Anyways started our morning with the fresh French pressed coffee very rich and flavorful. I like my coffee black anyways and you can definitely taste the boldness. Heard you gotta have the Crunchy French Toast (their signature dish) so we got that to share and also the October Shashuka special plus the Chiqilles (spelling?) Both came in a bowl and hot and the most wonderful presentation. And everything tasted as good as it looked! Def Instagram worthy! The service was so attentive! The food was mediocre, I tried the Chilaquiles with sunny side up and the chips was so soggy. My husband tried the power bowl and it was bland. Today was absolutely amazing! It was my first time at this location and I was confused on how to order. So I was just sitting there, well the manager made sure to help me out, and made sure my time there was great. I felt truly valued, I was also catching a flight right after, so they made sure my food was ready fast. I definitely will be coming back and out of all the locations this was probably the one that left the best mark on me! Everyone was so helpful, attentive, and efficient. Blue jam used to be one of our favorite spots because of their consistent quality. Sadly this is no longer the case. I got my favorite El Paso chicken sandwich only to realize that they had halved the amount of chicken in it. Basically just sauce and bread with a few strands of chicken. I am a regular at Blu Jam Brentwood, especially prior to the pandemic and have loved the phenomenal service in addition to having one of the best brunches in LA. It was my first experience at Blu Jam Sherman Oaks and I could rave more about it. I had a party of 25 people and we were not only seated ahead of the estimated time because of the staff being so quick to bus and flip a set of tables for all of us, but the staff did not once complain to serve what I imagine is one of the more larger parties they've had to accommodate. DIEGO, the manager, and ASHLEY, front of house (I believe), took care of us from beginning to end, along with the rest of the kitchen and crew. I'm happy they have multiple locations to spread the love, and that I can put in my name online so I don't have to wait the long wait outside. I should have reviewed the yelp reviews before choosing this breakfast spot as my choice to dine in at. Drove all the way from NorCal and it wasn't what I imagined I guess. My main complaint it i ordered the french toast and when the server brought out this dish I asked for syrup. She stated we don't have syrup and that what you see on your plate is what we have. I was so shock on how she rudely answered my questions and spoke to me in that manner. I ate my french toast plain because it only comes with a cold white sauce. It was ice cold . You will continue to get bad yelp reviews with that kind of attitude. You disrespect and call everyone names who leaves a negative review. Please note the french was good, and if that rude server never made that rude comment than this yelp review would have been a different outcome. That comment from the server turned the whole experience upside down. And if I saw a no syrup signed I wouldn't have asked. Blu Jam is my favorite brunch place in the valley - whether it be at the calabasas location, the tarzana location, or this Sherman oaks location. The food here is amazing and you won't be disappointed in whatever you decide to order. The crunchy French toast is a must. For me, it's always difficult to decide between something savory and something sweet so whenever I go, I order a savory plate and my friend orders the crunchy french toast and we just split it... you get the best of both worlds! I ordered the make your own scramble, which is $13.95 and you get to choose between a scramble or omelette and you can add 4 ingredients. I got bacon, spinach, avocado, and cheddar in my scramble and it was amazing. The portion is HUGE and will definitely fill you up. It also comes with a side of potatoes and toast. For the potatoes and eggs, they give you their house made ketchup and it is probably my favorite ketchup ever, I always ask for more. For the toast, they give you their house made jam and butter. Everything here to eat is so good. The customer service is lacking and the workers look like they don't even want to be there. Our waitress never once came to check in on us, only time she did was when I had to call for her to get the check. We sat there for 15 minutes waiting for her to walk towards our table but when she did, she never made eye contact with us. Sucks that service isn't the greatest when the food is amazing. Went here on a whim. Very good food. I had bites of everyone's food and it was all delicious. Casual vibe. My iced coffee was perfection.

I LOVED this spot so much. For years I've been a patron and got to know the servers and managers personally which made the whole experience much richer. I've been living in Sherman oaks for a decade and love this community. Before COVID, they started removing favorite items from the menu (ketchup, blueberry pancakes, etc) and now you order through an app or have to go to the register if any item needs to be modified or if you have any questions. This dampens the experience and feels so disconnected. I ask that this be temporary. I understand that it helps the business save money but I know myself and others who used to frequent this restaurant go very seldom now. It's unfortunate. Service plus food were A++ and now it's sub par. The few servers are fantastic but I felt the model you had before was really great. Food for thought. read more

I'm a bit disappointed. The last couple times I've ordered online and picked up the food has been cold. Last time was Mother's Day. They were slammed and my pick was set for 9:15am. I arrived at 9:10 and they said it would be another 20 minutes because they had (and the guy showed me the tickets to prove his point-- thanks for being condescending in the service industry jerk!) so many delivery and phone orders they were running behind. I get it. But at the same time ... what's the point of ordering two days in advance if your food isn't ready. That was the point of ordering it early. What a MESS! I was in need of breakfast and decided to try a new place out for a change . I was originally seated outside ( my preference ) but right away I realized the heat was picking up and walked inside to ask the waitress that I wanted to sit inside inside . Her response " that's fine , just bring your water and silverware inside". My jaw dropped and my response was " I prefer you bring it to my table, thank you ". My only complaint is that the wait time makes the brunch place worth to try but not to come often. Food and service was AMAZING... the crunchy toast is to DREAM about. Mentioned this to one of the employees (I think she was the manager) and she didn't even care. The sauce with the crunchy french toast was lacking in flavor. *I ordered my food to go* I wanted to preface my review with that fact because I'm sure there's a difference in experience because of that. Anyway, my experience was very easy. Their website is simple to use, it made it easy to customize the food, and ability to specify the pick-up times made it very convenient. Upon pick-up, on the morning of Father's Day, it was super crowded but I got my food quickly. And even though I had to go back because they forgot the drinks I had ordered, it was not too difficult. I appreciated the fact that they had reserved parking for people picking up to-go orders. The food was great! I loved the crispy French toast, the breakfast quesadilla was delicious, and the strawberry mint lemonade was very refreshing. I would absolutely recommend and I look forward to go again and eating there... when it is not a holiday or super crowded. 5 stars read more

I must say the food here is 5+ stars hands down. Everything was delicious, presented beautifully, served quickly, and a nice portion. This is my first time here at this location. I recently went to the downtown L.A. location and loved it so much I wanted to take my dad here for breakfast. This location opens at 8am and when we got there at 8:15, there was still a couple of parking spaces in the small lot.. When we went inside, the hostess walked by us 3 times and ignored us. She didn't look busy at all...she actually looked half asleep and body language like she din't want to be there. After I started walking back to see if there was seating available, another worker nodded at her to help us. I was very close to walking out at this point. I rarely eat breakfast out (brunch much more so), but it is the start to my day and I would appreciate the people I must have contact with at the beginning of the day be pleasant. If you are not a morning person, a later shift may be best. Since I know how good the food is, we stayed. Luckily our server was nice and got our food out to us quickly. Unfortunately, she seemed a little busy and rarely checked on us. To get the bill, we had to ask a bus-boy to get her. Maybe they were understaffed that day??? Since the food is so good, it is definitely worth another visit. If this is your only option for locations, then be wary of service, minimal parking and crowds at peak times. So of course I had to order it when I had brunch there for the first time the other weekend. And, I'm sorry, it did not live up to the hype. I was not a fan of how dry the french toast was. Then the vanilla bean sauce was way too watery in consistency for me. It was more like milk than an actual sauce. Maybe I just had a bad batch? I hope so because it sounds and looks like it would be delicious. For the savory part of the meal, I ordered the Blu Jam Benedict. Everything about the dish was good, except for the hollandaise sauce. It had this weird tang to it that I've never tasted with any other benedicts I've had before. The lemon should be very light in the sauce, and not leave you with a weird after taste. All in all, it's a 3 for me. I am curious to try these dishes at other locations of Blu Jam Cafe. read more
