Blu Jam is always a reliable brunch spot. The ambiance is lovely with so many outdoor tables & shade, the staff is always kind and the food is delicious. Sometimes there's a wait but it usually goes faster than expected. You can now just order and pay from a QR code on the table so it's pretty quick. Some of our favorites are the migas (always suggest these over the chilaquiles), the grilled cheese which is to die for, the hangover scramble, and of course their gem, the French toast. Perfectly crunchy as it is delicious with the best vanilla sauce. They also have an excellent French press option that is pretty reasonably priced. My Girlfriend and I tried to get a bite here on 6/6. I did not know when blue jam opened, we saw a man and a woman cleaning outside, it was 8:20am on the dot, as I was checking the time on the door, the man very rudely said 'we don't open until 8:30'. We decided to wait the 10 mins, we saw two other men park, get greeted by the same man at 8:22am and let inside. I am never the one to cry racism but this was definitely it. Love the outdoor seating. This was the perfect casual place to meet a friend and their parents. I like that you order and pay inside and then wait for it to come out. I used to come here all the time and it was great. It's been about a year or two now and it's completely changed. They no longer have waitstaff, it's all order through phone which doesn't let you make modifications like crispy or well done etc. we waited for about 30 min to be seated which is fine but when we ordered we got our food at different times. My friend was almost done with his meal before his wife's food came. Even the food was just ok - and maybe it always was just ok but I remember the staff really taking care of you here and now that's just gone. Look - the food is great. The coffee - a little too strong. The prices are steep considering the pain in the rear that their ordering system is. During the pandemic Blu Jam decided to do away with servers taking your order and implemented that whole QR code menu - order via app system. The problem is, that they've kept this system. It's highly annoying and keeps us from fully enjoying our meals with them because you can't even order a side of avocado in the middle of your meal! You have to pull out the phone - order your food - have an account if you don't feel like re-entering your CC information. AND you have to tip when you order - before you even get your drinks. So what do you do if you aren't happy with the service? It used to be my favorite brunch spot. We all like to try new places from time to time but sometimes we like to go to a place we know. We know where to go when we want a waitress or waiter that is friendly and likes to chat. Then we have our places where we want to just focus on the food that's in front of us. Not to take away from the staff here, they are all great. Everyone is super friendly and very welcoming. However once your drink is brought to you you are able to focus on who you're with. In this case my wife as usual and my French press coffee which was absolutely perfect! Coffee is truly one of the greatest things in this life. This time around I went with the Shakshuka and it was a great choice. I also added two extra sunny side up eggs to swirl the yolky goodness around. My wife went with a build your own scramble again. She added mushrooms, chicken breast, tomatoes, mozzarella, cotija and bacon with a side of mixed greens and a bowl of berries. Found this Place through our friends who live in town and it's highly rated. We wanted to grab a brunch and decided to come. I'm glad we did, place is not very big but cute. Parking can be hard, they do have parking in the back but limited or street parking. My husband and I got the chilequilles which is a MUST TRY! Had been to Blu Jam quite a few years ago and remember it being amazing. Well...not so much anymore. The first person you meet has on a backward baseball cap and a funky sweatshirt; that's not bad in itself, but when you are projecting a professional image then it's not so good. I don't mind doing all the ordering myself with a QR code, but don't ask for a 20% tip if we are doing your job. As for the food...$8 for a latte! A little steep! Jay, I understand Blu Jam operates as a counter-service restaurant, and I had no issue with placing my order through the QR system. My review was about the overall experience and the level of attentiveness we received, not about expecting full table service. Your response, however, was unnecessarily dismissive and unprofessional. Suggesting that no one will read my review and rating me as a "2-star customer experience" shifts the focus away from addressing feedback and onto belittling a guest. That does not reflect well on your business. In face checking that have you replied with this line many times looks ridiculously horrible for this restaurant. During our visit, I raised my hand multiple times because our table did not have utensils. I was told they were in the container on the table, but they were not. I had to continue waving to get assistance while the staff member was helping us and we were mid-conversation. That lack of attentiveness contributed to my frustration. I've also seen other recent Yelp reviews mentioning a decline in service, so this does not appear to be an isolated concern. Constructive feedback is an opportunity for improvement. A professional response would acknowledge the experience rather than dismiss it. The food was really good which is why this was disappointing. Jeff, along with the other hostesses were very welcoming when we walked in and attentive throughout our time there. Prefer to sit outside, it feels more open and even though you're outdoors there's not a whole bugs or anything thankfully. We had the breakfast burrito, brunch burger, and of course their crunchy French toast. Everything was delicious. I'm always weary of breakfast burritos because I feel like some place but too much or too little of something but the crunchy be I had was so good. I was a bit disappointed today. I have been craving their huevos rancheros for months, but because of how crowded they get and their lack of parking, I haven't had time to come. I finally had some time to come today and was so looking forward to having the huevos rancheros. Unfortunately, I was completely disappointed. The food came out completely cold. The avocado was underripe. My friend and I ordered the exact same thing. The inconsistency of the amount of potatoes we each got was ridiculous. He got almost double the amount I got for the exact same price. The service was great but totally underwhelmed with the quality of food, and quite surprised because it's one of my favorite breakfast items. I would have complained but I was parked at the meter and didn't have enough time to wait for them to remake it. At least I won't be craving it now. UPDATE: in response to my Yelp review, the manager Jeff, responded to me and invited my friend and I back for a free meal to make up for our previous experience. We took him up on that offer and came this afternoon. Glad we did. Jeff reserved a table for us. We re-ordered the exact same thing, my favorite thing on the menu, huevos rancheros. It was absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh. The potatoes were nice and hot. The avocado was soft. Eggs perfectly prepared and, as always, service impeccable. It's self seating & you order directly from their menu online, which I think is a great system as it always comes out super fast! I have seen some elderly people complain about the ordering system a few times but the staff is always patient & accommodating to them. Their tuscany scramble is my favorite!
