It also felt that the dish was cold, as if it had been sitting out for a while. We also tried the french toast churros which were quite bready and lacking that crispness you want from that kind of dish. This was my first time here. I drive by it daily when going to the gym. Had heard good things and my roommate wanted to go here for brunch. We go there around 10:15 and only waiting on the waitlist for about 5 minutes before being seated. It is a nice place and felt comfortable. Everything looked good, but I could get similar things for a few dollar cheaper elsewhere. I did found something reasonable which was their seasonal soup special- Turkey Chili (Ground turkey, diced celery, onion, bell pepper, kidney beans, garlic, & tomato paste, seasoned with cumin, cayenne, & paprika and garnished with cheddar cheese and chives). It was nice and a huge portion with a side of toast. Should it have been $10 and change after tax...no but it was enjoyable. My roommate got the Eggwich (Scrambled eggs, smoked bacon, smashed avocado, tomatoes, butter lettuce, cheddar, chipotle aioli, grilled rustic bread, and with side of grilled potatoes). I added tabasco sauce at the table and even tried ketchup (a condiment I never use on a sammie) to add much-needed flavor. Toasting the extra bread at home dried up the oil so it wasn't an issue. In short, I would not order that again. I wish they had savory crepes but they only offer 2 sweet kinds. The highlight of this visit was catching up with a friend I haven't seen in too long. I round up my rating to 4 stars for the fair prices, coolness of the patio when it was in the 90's in the sun and ability to get on the wait list before you arrive. I think this place is very good and delicious. It doesn't do too much and I feel that the food feels fresh feeling and healthier. I don't feel very heavy after eating it although it could be a little bit starchy it always feels very fresh and homemade to which I never feel very heavy after the meals I eat here, I don't like that they don't have a Phone order system but I do I just know now after walking in that they have an app I can use to order online. I don't like driving there and not being able to call and ask for a order for her to ask for turkey bacon instead of regular bacon etc. because there is no way to change the order online other than that the crunchy toast was pretty good and I do like their ginger shots as well as their sandwich that I've tried the potatoes are very crispy and delicious. I took one star only because they don't have a good phone operating system. Great location in the heart of Sherman Oaks, hence why it's a staple here in this part of the valley. I've been here a few times over the years because of the location convenience, but the food here shouldn't be missed. They're known for their crunch French toast, complete with French berries and a vanilla glaze. But this time I opted for their shakshuka and brunch carbonara. Both dishes came with poached eggs, perfect for brunch. Washed it all down with a dirty matcha with oat milk. The food hasn't changed over the years and hence you can trust that the recipes are tried and true. They have a big outside patio that stretches around the restaurant so finding a seat usually isn't a problem. My only vice is they haven't moved past the COVID service as the waitress only comes over to explain the menu and provide cutlery. It's the seemly popular (most people I know still prefer in-person ordering) QR code and order your food from the website. Doesn't make the wait staff less attentive. We've been checked on for refills on water and bussed regularly. Doesn't mean I wouldn't come back tho. For those who do prefer to order in person, you're still able to walk into the restaurant and order to send to your table. The choice is yours! read more

The egg Benedicts all taste great! I especially like my norwegian Benedict with dill hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise sauce is well made and enhanced with dill which goes with smoked salmon. The smoked salmon also of good quality. You can also request how you like the egg for the Benedict which i haven't seen before. Another popular dish there is french toast churros. Pretty much every table orders it, and we tried it too. It tastes deep fried. We placed our orders on phone and everything comes out perfect with customization etc. you can also go up to the counter and order. First off the place seem very economical friendly with the self order. The one thing I was not a fan was tipping before you receive any service or food. This is my first time here we decided to go with the blu cafe egg benedict and the breakfast burrito with added bacon. I tell you what the burrito tasted delicious with their hot sauce. My significant other thought the eggs benedict was okay. The reason why I rated 4 stars out of 5 is be because I found a dead mosquito floating in the water. The server literally did not apology or say anything about it and just proceeded to dump our water out and give us a new water like nothing happened. I understand that in that circumstance it's not their fault that a dead mosquito happened to be in the water but my goodness at least apologize or say something. I nearly lost my appetite. The ordering through the app is fine, but it requires you to tip before you've eaten or had any interactions with servers, which makes no sense. And when I did need a server, it was hard to track down. The food was not what it used to be. The French toast was pretty stale, which was sad because my friend from Texas was excited to try it after my hyping it up. My scramble was okay - a good not great situation. This will be our first and last time here. Wasn't aware of the concept before we came. They say it's "counter service" but it's more like self service since you're not placing an order at a register and given a number. We tried to order on our phones and after selecting our food we couldn't check out so my husband went to the counter to have one of the employees help place the order. After we got our food my order was missing the egg and the salad dressing was also all over the top of my burger, whoops. who do you tell when your order is wrong? That part was fine but the ordering process is just ridiculous. it's just not the place for us. I prefer to have a server! Or at least have the order taken by someone at the counter. I'm now a regular here, we come every week! Food never disappoints, there's always a consistency of flavors. The Strawberry and Creme latte was not good, very bitter and sour. Though, the server was really sweet and tried fixing the latte for me, but it still did not turn out good. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and they hustle to take care of you - you can tell they are used to being busy even though we were there at a slower time of day. But hands-down the best part of our experience was Jeff, who I believe is the manager there? He made us feel welcome, has a delightful attitude, and better yet took special care of my wife when he found out it was her birthday. Plus the food was absolutely perfect and a level above what we'd come to expect from the Tarzana location. Our order was brought out quickly and cooked exactly as requested. We ordered the Eggwich to share with eggs over medium and well done grilled potatoes so to get it exactly as ordered was nice. We finished the meal off with a surprise Crunchy French Toast with candle brought over by Jeff to celebrate my wife's birthday. I've been coming here for years! I have several for allergies but was able to find something with no modifications. I really don't like that there's no servers anymore. Upon checking in I had a rude encounter with a guest who felt entitled to cut in front of my elder mother quite physically abrasive while also being large in stature invading our personal space because she wanted to order her food and the line she was in was taking too long. I don't have time for drama so I shut her down when she tried to get loud and obnoxious but this would not have happened if guest weren't forced to come to the front to order their food if they are paying cash.
