This location is the best! The staff is always super welcoming & friendly. It's self seating & you order directly from their menu online, which I think is a great system as it always comes out super fast! I have seen some elderly people complain about the ordering system a few times but the staff is always patient & accommodating to them. Their tuscany scramble is my favorite! I am rewatching Entourage and so many things in LA have changed since 2004. Very few places where I could get a satisfying breakfast, but I was so happy with my experience at Blu Jam. After a very hectic schedule, we were looking for a place to rest and eat something and passed by this place coincidently. Located on Ventura Blvd. We truly appreciated the parking in the back. They have picnic type tables and bistro kind of seating outside but we preferred inside due to scorching hot weather. Inside is cozy and casual. It seems like an older building so A/C wasn't too much help. As soon as we stepped in, we were greeted by Jonas who took our order. They don't have waiters, but staff are always in touch with customers. If there is a need. I ordered the turkey wrap with the side of potatoes to share without realizing they made a Panini instead, we were very happy with our first bites until Jonas came by our table and informed that our original order was a wrap and they made a mistake. We actually enjoyed the Panini a lot better than the wrap which they also gave us to take home. We go there around 10:15 and only waiting on the waitlist for about 5 minutes before being seated. It is a nice place and felt comfortable. I had looked at the menu in advance to know what looked good and unfortunately had to take one star down due to pricing. Everything looked good, but I could get similar things for a few dollar cheaper elsewhere. I did found something reasonable which was their seasonal soup special- Turkey Chili (Ground turkey, diced celery, onion, bell pepper, kidney beans, garlic, & tomato paste, seasoned with cumin, cayenne, & paprika and garnished with cheddar cheese and chives). It was nice and a huge portion with a side of toast. Should it have been $10 and change after tax...no but it was enjoyable. My roommate got the Eggwich (Scrambled eggs, smoked bacon, smashed avocado, tomatoes, butter lettuce, cheddar, chipotle aioli, grilled rustic bread, and with side of grilled potatoes). I had a taste of the potato's, which were very nice. $18 and change for this...again a little much but as long as they liked it and willing to pay. My Girlfriend and I tried to get a bite here on 6/6. I did not know when blue jam opened, we saw a man and a woman cleaning outside, it was 8:20am on the dot, as I was checking the time on the door, the man very rudely said 'we don't open until 8:30'. We decided to wait the 10 mins, we saw two other men park, get greeted by the same man at 8:22am and let inside. I am never the one to cry racism but this was definitely it. The parking is extremely difficult , the food is good and be aware , you have to do your own seating with a scanner code . And you have to create an account to order as there is no waitress to help you. If you are okay with this? Go for it. I'm not good with technology and the website froze on us !!! Jay, I understand Blu Jam operates as a counter-service restaurant, and I had no issue with placing my order through the QR system. My review was about the overall experience and the level of attentiveness we received, not about expecting full table service. Your response, however, was unnecessarily dismissive and unprofessional. Suggesting that no one will read my review and rating me as a "2-star customer experience" shifts the focus away from addressing feedback and onto belittling a guest. That does not reflect well on your business. In face checking that have you replied with this line many times looks ridiculously horrible for this restaurant. During our visit, I raised my hand multiple times because our table did not have utensils. I was told they were in the container on the table, but they were not. I had to continue waving to get assistance while the staff member was helping us and we were mid-conversation. That lack of attentiveness contributed to my frustration. I've also seen other recent Yelp reviews mentioning a decline in service, so this does not appear to be an isolated concern. Constructive feedback is an opportunity for improvement. A professional response would acknowledge the experience rather than dismiss it. The food was really good which is why this was disappointing. But it did not blow my mind nor has it every time I've been here. With that said this place has far more solid options! I like to get their breakfast sandwich, personally. Large portion and tasty. Also love how their potatoes are diced small so that they can be crispy. You can either order at the front or via their app once seated. Be aware that after 9 on weekdays this place gets pretty busy. Weekends are more busy. They have a small parking lot behind them but again if it gets busy then street becomes your option and that can be a pain. I didn't mind this was messy to eat but the oily bread was very distracting. That's when extra napkins also would've been really useful. The aioli was barely spicy. I added tabasco sauce at the table and even tried ketchup (a condiment I never use on a sammie) to add much-needed flavor. Toasting the extra bread at home dried up the oil so it wasn't an issue. In short, I would not order that again. I wish they had savory crepes but they only offer 2 sweet kinds. The highlight of this visit was catching up with a friend I haven't seen in too long. I round up my rating to 4 stars for the fair prices, coolness of the patio when it was in the 90's in the sun and ability to get on the wait list before you arrive. I think this place is very good and delicious. It doesn't do too much and I feel that the food feels fresh feeling and healthier. I don't feel very heavy after eating it although it could be a little bit starchy it always feels very fresh and homemade to which I never feel very heavy after the meals I eat here, I don't like that they don't have a Phone order system but I do I just know now after walking in that they have an app I can use to order online. I don't like driving there and not being able to call and ask for a order for her to ask for turkey bacon instead of regular bacon etc. because there is no way to change the order online other than that the crunchy toast was pretty good and I do like their ginger shots as well as their sandwich that I've tried the potatoes are very crispy and delicious. I took one star only because they don't have a good phone operating system. When busy and driving I feel that it would be very convenient for me and probably for a lot of people to have a working operating system to make changes to an order that isn't available online but available only when you walk in other than that I think this place is very nice and very pretty to dine as well. Excellent food!! Get in line on yelp on the way there and check in on yelp to get ginger shots for the table! The ginger shots are spicy and get your appetite going! I enjoyed it! The egg Benedicts all taste great! I especially like my norwegian Benedict with dill hollandaise sauce. The hollandaise sauce is well made and enhanced with dill which goes with smoked salmon. The smoked salmon also of good quality. You can also request how you like the egg for the Benedict which i haven't seen before. Another popular dish there is french toast churros. Pretty much every table orders it, and we tried it too. It tastes deep fried. We placed our orders on phone and everything comes out perfect with customization etc. you can also go up to the counter and order. Great location in the heart of Sherman Oaks, hence why it's a staple here in this part of the valley. I've been here a few times over the years because of the location convenience, but the food here shouldn't be missed. They're known for their crunch French toast, complete with French berries and a vanilla glaze. But this time I opted for their shakshuka and brunch carbonara. Both dishes came with poached eggs, perfect for brunch. Washed it all down with a dirty matcha with oat milk. The food hasn't changed over the years and hence you can trust that the recipes are tried and true. They have a big outside patio that stretches around the restaurant so finding a seat usually isn't a problem. My only vice is they haven't moved past the COVID service as the waitress only comes over to explain the menu and provide cutlery. It's the seemly popular (most people I know still prefer in-person ordering) QR code and order your food from the website. Doesn't make the wait staff less attentive. We've been checked on for refills on water and bussed regularly. Doesn't mean I wouldn't come back tho. For those who do prefer to order in person, you're still able to walk into the restaurant and order to send to your table. The choice is yours! read more

My significant other thought the eggs benedict was okay. The reason why I rated 4 stars out of 5 is be because I found a dead mosquito floating in the water. The server literally did not apology or say anything about it and just proceeded to dump our water out and give us a new water like nothing happened. I understand that in that circumstance it's not their fault that a dead mosquito happened to be in the water but my goodness at least apologize or say something. I nearly lost my appetite. This little cafe is a local favorite, definitely recommend coming early or waiting till later afternoon to get in. The hours are brunch hours! They have a cute patio that is perfect to dine with the girls, friends, on a date or bring the kids to enjoy a lovely meal. The menu is fantastic and has options for everyone, vegetarian/ vegan, and some gluten free. I ordered a sandwich and it was huge I had to take 1/2 home with me, which I happily enjoyed for lunch the next day. Served along side a fresh crunchy salad. My friend scarfed down her meal before I could take a photo! She had a quesadilla with home fries. The servers were outgoing and bubbly, making sure all our needs were met. The ordering through the app is fine, but it requires you to tip before you've eaten or had any interactions with servers, which makes no sense. And when I did need a server, it was hard to track down. The food was not what it used to be. The French toast was pretty stale, which was sad because my friend from Texas was excited to try it after my hyping it up. My scramble was okay - a good not great situation. Went around 10 am for a late breakfast. Hubby was craving the shakshouka. I ordered the eggwich and shared it with my daughter. She had the green soup. Everyone got ginger shots with my Yelp check-in! The eggwich had a fried egg, bacon, lettuce and tomato on a wonderful toasted bread! It was delicious! Thry served it with house potatoes. There is free parking behind the restaurant. We wanted to sit inside so we signed in on the iPad outside and waited until we got a text to go inside. All ordering and payment are done by phone.
