For food shared with my girlfriend, Tuna Tartar and Porcini Mushroom Flatbread were my choice for appetizers, with Rack of Lamb and Diver Sea Scallops as our delicious entree of choice. You pay for the setting. In my experience the food quality is often lowered during restaurant week so my expectations weren't very high. We came here for the three course lunch set up for restaurant week. My friend and I shared our food so we could try most things offered, and we tried it all but the chicken pasta. The ravioli starter was very good - a nice balance of sweet, tangy sauce with the savoury meat. The soup was fairly bland and too sweet. The cod sucked - it reminded me of my college cafeteria, dry and boring. The sandwich was better but a bit too sweet for my liking. The chocolate lava cake had no lava but the passionfruit mousse was tart and very tasty. The bread was also one of the best parts. The setting makes you feel like you're in a different city - more like NYC. We were also fortunate to get a round table in a little window cove. It was overall fine but wouldn't go again. read more

I came here for a business lunch, and I must say it was a pleasant surprise. Granted, I wasn't paying, but the lunch prices were actually very surprisingly reasonable, with salads and sandwiches ranging from $10-25. The physical space is fabulous. With huge skylights, blonde wood floors and tables, a very open layout, and floor to ceiling windows that allow the sunlight to pour through, this is really an incredible spot to be on a nice day. There is outdoor seating too. The view is of Downtown Crossing, which admittedly is nothing special, but when you're that high up, it still manages to be exciting. I ordered a caprese sandwich (tomato, basil, mozzarella, balsamic reduction) which was grilled until perfectly crispy and melty, and served with a yummy green salad (or fries, which I wisely passed up). I loved it, and was impressed with its size-- I was stuffed! Everyone else loved their food too-- the chicken sandwich, the arugala salad with salmon, and the seared tuna plate. No complaints all around. Sure, the service was slow. Or, as one of my colleagues described it, relaxed. It was a little annoying to wait so long for them to take our order and to bring us the check, but we were also clearly in a business meeting, and they probably didn't want to bother us. I thought they handled it rather tactfully, actually. Overall, I'd definitely love to try dinner someday, if someone else is buying (pricey!), and I think I could even swing another lunch on my own dime. This restaurant was a surprise. When I first walked in I felt like I was at the entrance to a gym smoothie bar. Little did I know that once I'd walk to the back I'd have a cityscape view... forget the fact that some of the main attractions were a parking lot and the Paramount sign, it was still a pretty picture from the floor-to-roof windows of the fourth-floor restaurant. Second, the food was excellent. Not just tasty but healthy tasty, so we walked out full and feeling good. I went with three friends for Restaurant Week and we all loved everything. I ordered the spiced carrot soup topped with grilled shrimp and yogurt, and the haddock with raisins and clams for the entree. I cleaned both plates. Actually, we all cleaned our plates. Be sure you get seconds or thirds of the bread... the bruschetta. It's some of the best bread I've ever had at a restaurant. read more

After years of reading the positive reviews and gazing up at the glowing glass faade towering above Chinatown, I finally had the pleasure of dining at Blu. Blu not only lived up to my expectations, it wholly exceeded them. Everything from service, to atmosphere to quality of food, to cleanliness was primo. Even the portion size seemed to be precisely curtailed to what I was in the mood for that night. Certainly not a cheap date nor for the faint of hear, any reasonable dinner for 2 will easily surpass the $100 mark. However, I found the experience to be worth every penny. Of special note: I booked my reservation using Open Table. In the "Notes for the Maitre d" section I mentioned something about just getting married and it being our first night on the town since returning to Boston... Wow: not only did they reserve one of the best seats in the house for us (the view was stunning), they brought out a complimentary Ahi Tuna appetizer (valued at $18),"courtesy of the chef". I came across Blu on the OpenTable website... the view/ambiance/décor hits a sweet spot for me. In addition, the meal was incredible. I thought everything here was excellent and would highly recommend coming here but under the circumstances that you are either seated in the patio, bar area, or a table aligning a window. Because of the location both in the building (4th floor of an office/fitness building) and the actual location of the restaurant, I suggest you bring anyone here that you are looking to impress with the views of Boston. I enjoy the Top of the Hub for the view but only go for a drink because its SO expensive (and not that great of food). This is the alternative and you get a great meal too! Staff: 5 Stars. While some may disagree with what I am about to note here, I must admit that I really enjoyed the staff here. They were tentative, friendly, quick, and professional. From the hostess (in making sure I get my OpenTable points) to the waitress who had a European style of waitressing, to the server who positioned the food correctly on the table, I found no fault. By European style of waitressing, I mean that she left my guest and me alone to finish our conversations before motioning for her to come over to order. She did not want to interrupt and I really appreciate that style. Sometimes I feel I am being pushed to order to then eat and get out. I fully enjoyed my entire meal from start to finish for 2 1/2 hours. Food: 4.5 Stars. Starter: we had the steamed mussels in a pesto sauce and seared scallops. Both were mouth watering... the pesto sauce in the mussels was not too thick or thin--the perfect consistency. The scallops had an apple/onion puree over top with a risotto underneath. I would not recommend sharing this dish because there are only two scallops and do not feel your dollar is stretched here... Entrée: we both enjoyed the gnocchi.... I highly recommend this dish. I don't think I have ever tasted such great gnocchi in my life. There is a potato puree with caramelized pears and onions mixed in that are full of synchronized flavor! Dessert: we split the cinnamon orange crème brule... the dish was light full of a fruity and sweet flavor from the cinnamon and sugar that I was happy we did not choose any of the other chocolate choices that we are tossing in between this dish. Price: 4 stars I thought that the meals were propositioned to the price of the meal. Conveinance: 2 stars Be prepared to pay for parking in one of the local parking lots or drive around to search for a spot in Chinatown or downtown crossing. There is no valet parking (to my knowledge) so it was somewhat inconvenient if you are looking to arrive by car. As for public transportation, come fully prepared with the address for the cab driver as he will not be able to find it by the name. Mention that it is by Mantra or the Paramount or Hyatt in downtown crossing... you should get to the restaurant easily from there. OR if you are really determined to eat here, its one block from the Haymarket (orange line) stop. Overall: 4.5 stars I really enjoyed my meal/experience here and there is not one thing I found as a fault that will affect my reasoning for coming back here. This establishment made my little downstairs buddy pucker. After engaging with the sinister, snake-tongued cashier (who actually gave me a nice jolt of rage before my workout), I plopped down at one of the tables and treated myself to some PBS Kids, which was inexplicably playing on every single TV. I waited about twenty minutes before I was greeted with a sky-high pile of eggs with a couple measly pieces of toast. I hissed at the waitress, and in return, she granted me another slice or two. The eggs were real, real dense, and the serving size (and price for that matter) would've been more fit for a sasquatch, or a boy much bigger than me. I devoured the meal nonetheless but promptly vomited it all back up once I hit the elliptical. I kept exercising regardless. Excited for future visits! read more

I am a member of the Sports Club LA and because I finally convinced my sister to also join we received two free meal tickets for dinner at Blu. We were really excited and decided to meet up there one night after work. The tickets were good for a free entree with the purchase of an appetizer. Why not? First, the host gave us a really hard time about using both tickets. He said we could only use one, even after I explained we were given the tickets to go out to dinner together- implying that we could each use one. I asked him if we sat a different tables and got separate checks if it would make any difference. He seemed confused... but finally agreed to let us eat! Dinner was great. The food was wonderful. However, it was a super expensive "free" meal!! Our appetizers (well, and the wine) were really pricey. Good experience.... but probably won't go back. read more

Blu was the chosen spot for our anniversary this year. We had really nice seats, excellent service and the food was delish. I had a yummy grilled shrimp appetizer and gnocchi with poached pears and crumbled gorgonzola. We had reserved on Open Table and mentioned in the comments that we wanted a nice table to celebrate our anniversary. They delivered us a complimentary whiskey tart (Irish coffee cake) for dessert, complete with a chocolate Happy Anniversary written along the edge of the plate. It was really sweet. After a long day at work that left me with no desire to cook but imparted a hunger-induced catatonia, I decided to redeem my Groupon for Blu Restaurant. Unsure of how busy the restaurant would be on a Tuesday evening, I made a reservation via Open Table. As I later found, this was quite unnecessary. When I arrived, I waited patiently for a few minutes for the host or hostess to seat me, and grew increasingly impatient as no staff appeared. Finally, someone noticed me and took me to my table, my annoyance growing as I realized that only one other table was occupied. With so few diners, why had it taken so long to seat me? My waiter quickly delivered dinner and cocktail menus and promptly disappeared without providing bread or filling my water glass. Nearly five minutes later, he returned with water and took my food and drink orders, departing once again without providing bread. Then, just as my appetizer arrived, so did another waiter holding a basket of bread. With eager anticipation, I consumed a few spoonfuls of the wild mushroom soup, thankful to finally eat something. Unfortunately, the soup did not meet my expectations. While the mushroom flavor was strong and pleasing, the soup lacked any depth whatsoever. Another ingredient, perhaps a touch of heavy cream or crème fraiche, would have greatly enhanced this dish by offsetting the boldness of the shiitake mushrooms. Nonetheless, I finished the soup quickly, its nourishment slowly restoring my faculties. I then took a piece of the focaccia, which happens to be one of my favorite types of bread, and used it to soak up a bit of the soup residue left in the bowl. Yet again, I was disappointed, this time because the bread seemed under-baked and improperly leavened, leaving it both surprisingly sticky and overly dense. After quite some time, my waiter returned to clear the soup bowl I'd been finished with for approximately ten minutes, refill my water, and gauge my satisfaction with the caipirinha I'd ordered. Concerning this last item, I was disappointed yet again as the drink was both weak and almost flavorless. At long last, my entree arrived, and by looks alone, it seemed that Blu would redeem itself somewhat with its Pan Roasted Rainbow Trout. While the trout itself was quite satisfying, the bacon vinaigrette that accompanied it was applied so heavily as to ruin the dish's remaining ingredients. Perhaps if the vinaigrette possessed more flavor and consisted of a touch less oil, it would have been a welcome component of this dish, but instead it imparted an oiliness to the Brussels sprouts, spinach, and carrots that I found wholly unappetizing. Making matters worse, the carrots and sprouts were, in most cases, so heavily charred as to overwhelm the vegetables' underlying flavors. A few of the sprouts did, thankfully, escape this fate, exhibiting a hint of rosemary and demonstrating the dish's potential. Overall, the service was quite slow, my drink watered down, and the dishes artlessly prepared, resulting in a poor experience that gives me little reason to try this restaurant again. I also found Blu's prices to be excessive considering the poor quality of my meal, further condemning this establishment. read more

We had tuna tartar for appertizer, scallop and duck breast for main courses. They are ao delicious. Not quite sure if i prefer which one over which as they both have very unique and tasty tastes. Duck breast was medium cooked and it was so juicy, tender. Thank you, chef!!! read more

Came here for lunch to try something different from the places downtown. its expensive but what do you expect? i got the tuna nicoise salad and it was pretty good, pretty salty tho. i think that mace primarily from the capers tho. dont bother buying water cuz they have a ice/water machine you can drink free. the burger my friend had was pretty greasy but the fries were fantastic! been here for happy hour a few times too. they have pretty awesome cockatails and the bartenders are pretty cool. this one time my friend and i went, he shared us his orange! hah! plus he was kind of cute! overall, this is a nice place to go to for a change of pace. its also a cool place to ppl watch. read more

I went here last night (braved the bitter cold) for dinner with a friend for restaurant week. It's kinda strange to be entering the hostess area with people walking around in gym shorts. But whatever. Hostess was nowhere to be found--until we checked the bar area,where she was standing. Couldn't tell that she was a member of the staff--I mean, she wore sparkly flip flops, which I thought was really underdressed for such a fancy place. The atmosphere is pretty cool though. Nice and dark, with hints of blue and orange. I felt like I was in a private club or something. The view from our table was over a giant parking lot, but it was nice to be high up for a change. Since it was restaurant week, menu choices are limited. I had the beet salad, salmon and chocolate brioche bread pudding. The beet salad was delicious. Lots of salad greens with a light vinagrette, and the goat cheese was fantastic. Next up was the salmon. Perfect portion size, and cooked just the way I like it. I got some extra lemons too, as I like a lot of lemon on my fish. It had some fennel, which is a delicious root vegetable, that looked like wide noodles. Dessert was great too. Bread pudding was not too soft and not too hard. Smallish portion, but delish! My friend had the spiced carrot soup with shrimp, pan seared haddock and blood orange mousse. It was pretty good looking. I'm not a fan of cooked carrots, but she really liked it and the haddock. The mousse was kinda sour, but I liked it. Though the inside of the restaurant itself is quite nice--beautiful windows, awesome exposed metal and glass, cool blue lights--the location is a bit off. Yes, it's inside the Ritz, but it's next to the gym within the residence area of the Ritz. Hm. Like I said, off. Especially after the meal, when I walked out, looking at the bar, at the decor, and then ran into sweaty people in shorts. Talk about change in scenery. Anyway, that's not all that gives this place a 3-star rating. Their food was not only overpriced (in my opinion), but also not that tasty... sometimes I'll forgive a lofty price tag if it's WORTH IT. But this? Not so much. We shared their flash-fried calimari for an appetizer, and were underwhelmed. I've tasted my fair share of (good) calimari, but this wasn't it. I had the Three-Cheese Ravioli with "spicy Italian sausage, marinara, broccoli rabe, shaved parmesan"--but barely tasted any sausage. The ravioli wasn't very authentic, and the bread that they gave you at the beginning of your meal was too salty to dip in the sauce, which I sometimes like to do. Sigh. A disappointment. My dinner partner's burger wasn't exactly spectacular, either -- though the fries with which they came were nice. Thin, crispy, and well-seasoned. I think we ordered the tiramisu afterwards, for dessert, but obviously, that wasn't that memorable either. Overall, meh. read more

We went here for dinner for restaurant week on a Friday night as they had some good meat-free options. Who schedules Restaurant Week during Lent anyways! Boo. The restaurant is small and located on the 4th floor of the building with the LA Fitness. There are a lot of complaints about having to sign in at the gym, but really it's not a big deal. If you're driving in you can park in the lot at 37 Boylston and you take 2 elevators and you're at the restaurant entrance. Make sure you get your ticket validated at the restaurant and then pay in person at the booth to get the $5 price (the auto machines in the garage will say $10) The restaurant was great about accommodating a gluten allergy - even with the Restaurant Week menu. The salad was surprisingly good and the entree (mahi mahi) had a lot of promise, but was overcooked and dry. The desserts were tasty, but the portions were pretty small. I don't know how you can complain about the view here. The restaurant is basically surrounded by glass and you have a great view of the skyline and during sunset it's great. Sure there is some construction going on right below and it's not the best thing to look at, but it still beats sitting in a dark room with nothing but mirrors. I don't know if we'll be back again, but it was the perfect place to try during Restaurant Week. read more

Came in with a groupon and also found it weird that you literally have to walk into a gym to get to Blu. But anyway... The bread they served was insanely salty for some reason, which was odd. We split the grilled flatbread to start and it was fine... nothing special. I got the swordfish and my fiance got the trout and both were flavorful and pretty good. We split the Belgian Chocolate Cake for dessert. It was also nothing special. Kind of tasted store bought. blu made me blue! What a disappointment. I have eaten there twice before -- once for the Super Hunger Brunch and once for Restaurant Week -- and both were decidedly mediocre. Last night was my first non-event night. Excellent table, but that's where the excellence ended. The wait for both the first and second courses were too long. Our sides came out with our appetizers. We had 5:30 reservations and theater tickets for 7:30pm. Our entrees did not come to the table until 6:45pm, leaving us in a bit of a panic. For the first course I had a roasted vegetable salad. It was fine, if bland, and overpriced at $10. My entree was an *incredibly* small red snapper. It was three small pieces for a total of 3 oz of fish (approx). The brussels sprouts accompanying it was fine; the roasted potatoes were undercooked. Wish I could comment about the desserts or coffee, but we didn't even have time to consider it. Service -- we had to ask for our starters and entrees. Our server could not make any recommendations, and (my pet peeve) they started clearing dishes before everyone was finished. Blu was a wonderful lovely restaurant. It's at the Ritz, and well worth the effort to make a reservation for to visit. The menu is very small, but wowee! All the food is absolutely cooked to perfection, and is full of fantastic surprises. The wine steward, Mark, is very talented at what he does, the wines he suggested were such great additions to the meal, and took it up a couple more levels. The dessert choices are lovely, I had the cheeses and spent the whole time saying "mmmMMMMmmmmm" while I ate them. You can't review this place without mentioning the view. It's GORGEOUS. It's at the Ritz, and it is very close to the theatre district, a wonderful place to stop in for dessert after a show. read more

I NEVER write bad reviews, but I feel compelled to write this one. Went here with my girlfriend for a nice date on a Saturday. Horrible...and here's why. Called for reservation. The kid on the phone sounded like he was being punished by his parents to work at this place. One word answers, and hung up without saying bye. Sorrryyyyyy buddy! Get there, definitely the same kid on the phone at the front desk. I went up to the front desk and looked at him. He looked back. That went on for about 10 seconds. I said, reservation for Mike. Looks down, grabs some menus, and walks away. I assume we're to follow him. we sit down, hands us the menu, and grumbles something under his breath. I'm guessing "mmmppfffhh" means "please enjoy your meal tonight and we're so happy to have you with us! Isn't it a great night? I recommend the fried calamari to start off with!" The waitress was actually the only good part about this. Ordered no problem. I got the sirloin medium rare and she got the burger. We get our food and it looks great. Cut into my steak..waa waaaaaaa it's well done. Dry as a bone. I've never sent anything back, but I figure for $30, i should at least get close to what I want. Waitress takes it, and comes back saying the chef says it's medium rare. I say, whatever you call it, just make it pink in the middle. Manager comes over, asks me how I want it cooked. I say just not well done. He says it looks well done because of the lighting and it's really medium rare. Ok, fine whatever. I know that I'm doomed at this point and I'm either going to get spitty food or a super rare steak. It was the latter. Not only that, but the cut was twice as thick and half as wide as the previous one. It was raw and tough as leather. Her burger wasn't good either. Really dry and also over cooked. My wife and I went here to eat and we're very happy with everything. They are located on the 4th floor so you need to know where you're headed. We made a reservation online very easily. We were about 20 minutes early but the seated us right away. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. We started with a salad with Apple smoked bacon and blu cheese and a bottle of German Riesling that was very nice. My wife had scallops that were tender and tasty, I had the swordfish and it was cooked perfectly and had a great sauce. We finished with the Creme brûlée. The seating had a great view of the city and the atmosphere was cozy and quiet. We both recommend this restaurant. If you go there once you will want to go back. read more

UGH. The only good thing about this place is the bread, and it's the first thing you get. It's only downhill from there. First off, you have to go into a gym to get there. Yeah, you heard me, a gym. So, you'd expect a restaurant at a gym to serve spa-food, right? Wrong. Blu has no idea what it is. There's no actual direction to the menu, and the food is really confused and over-thought. It's like someone watched Food Network for years and thought they'd like to be "artsy" with a menu. The view is gorgeous, so yeah, that's nice. A great place for a business lunch! We made reservations but didn't really need them. The dining room was not full, but not empty either. We were sat quickly and our waiter was attentive without being overbearing. We ordered a Cobb salad and a portobello mushroom panini and both were good portions and good quality. 3.5 Stars Very friendly bartenders, they pour a great drink. Ray LOVES the Celtics. This is NOT an Italian restaurant, it is an upscale American menu. Great cuts of meat and fish, but it definitely needs more vegetarian or carbohydrate based additions. Some of the apps (fries, smoked gouda cheese sticks) should be 86'ed if you ask me but great, healthy salads. I always feel a bit unfair reviewing restaurants based on their performance during weddings - it's not what 90% of people are going to experience when they dine here. That said, here's my review of Blu based on recently attending a wedding there - i'll try to focus on the things that would translate to a normal dining experience - the food - only complaint was the anchovy they decided to add to the salad. The entire table, save one brave guest, decided to forgo that part. Entrees were great, and just as important - consistent (we've all been to weddings where someone else's steak looks great and yours is over/under cooked) - the service - i may or may not have almost collided with a waiter during the evening, but that's the fault of the architect/interior designer that decided it was necessary to include so many corners between the dining room and the bathroom - ambiance - can't be beat - great views of the city, and they will only improve once the large construction project across the street is completed (you know, in 4-5 years) read more

Ordered the Lobster Roll. Not traditional in way it is presented, and was very impressed. They properly toast the bread, and it adds flavor. The lobster is great with nigh chunks of meat, and a little spicy kick. The French Fries it comes with are really good too. Will definitely return. read more

Blu's draw has got to be the windows. Huge several story windows, leaning a slight degree out. While this downtown Boston corner, doesn't happen to be lovely to look at, the see through-pattern on the windows (akin to a city bus) made the brake lights on the taxis below a bit more hazy and hence, magical. The floor is also home to a very fancy gym, so the spell breaks a bit when you're sitting near the end of the restaurant and you can see all the high-class gym-fanatics at the building's cafeteria. Even funnier is when they come in, fresh from the shower, turtle-neck pulled up, gucci gym bag slung across their shoulder. "Kathryn, so nice to see you here!" they say as the cheek-kiss a lady at one of the tables and settle in for a martini. A different world, for sure. With such high-class, I'd hoped my meal would blow me away. It was good, nothing to yelp about. In any case, I do like to pretend, so I think I'll be back to sit at the bar, sip wine, munch on the *amazing* pollenta logs appetizer and look out the magic window. read more

My friend and I shared an appetizer and then got the short ribs and the duck. Both were mediocre. The disclaimer: I was contacted by Charn, who works at Blu. He explained the restaurant was under new management, from a month after I had visited, and they had made some changes. Charn offered me dinner on the house if I'd give it another try. I like when a restaurant engages the community to make things right, so I accepted. If you want to ignore my review cause it was based on a free meal, read no further. That said, things are definitely improved. The appetizers were delightful. The polenta fries was very tasty, and I loved the sauce provided for them. The melon soup my date ordered was fresh and flavorful, and the prociutto added the needed salty contrast. The service was solid; attentive, available but not pushy, and good about refilling our water. Our drinks were decent--my sangria appeared to have flecks from a real vanilla bean, though it was lacking any fruit. My main course, the linguine fra diavolo had fresh seafood, but there was no spice to it at all! That's a main attraction to the dish for me, and it ended up flat as a result. My date had the roasted duck breast, ordered medium, which turned out a little bit overcooked around the edges. The raisin-onion demi glace was tasty, and the potatoes were fine but not unusual. The view from our side of the restaurant unfortunately overlooks a parking lot. After the sun sets, it's much less visible and the skyline takes over, but while the sun is up the view is drab. I'm scoring 3 stars right now, instead of 4, because of the price. The food is good, but I expect more for the cost. The ambiance and location of Blu scream high class. The butternut squash soup I had for an appetizer tricked my cynical mind into believing that Blu would live up to the hype, but alas, as my entree came out, and my fork brought food to my lips, the bubble was burst. My hopes were charred like an overcooked steak at a back yard bbq. I ate the rest of my dinner staring out the beautiful windows, peering into the hotel across the street, wondering what those 5 teenagers were doing in a room. Was it prom already, how could they afford a hotel room? Oh what's that, I'm wondering what's going on around me instead of being blown away by my expensive meal? Yes. Blu was good, it was not worth the price-tag, but the meal was better than most meals I can muster. Go for a drink at the bar, and the beautiful downtown vista, save your wallet from the mediocre food. read more

I have to say their jumbo pan-seared diver scallops are the most tender scallops I've ever tasted. Just for that, I give them two thumbs up. The floor-to-ceiling large windows also offer a massive view of downtown boston. Our waiter was also kind enough to replace one of our orders, no questions asked, when my friend didn't like the burnt edges of her grilled chicken. But speaking of Blu restaurant's grilled chicken sandwich, that was probably the least appreciated dish we ordered. It was dry & lacking in flavor. read more

I have some adjectives to describe this restaurant: swanky, trendy and hushed. The first two address the visual atmosphere of the restaurant, which with its blue/green lights and 4th floor view of the theater district, should not be underestimated. Hushed because even though we were sitting right next to another table, the acoustics were so good that we could only hear ourselves. There aren't many bars with such good acoustics these days, and it's refreshing. Not too noisy! The food is good. I had the chicken with truffles, which was very well flavored, but both my and my boy's dish were very oily. His dish, the trout, didn't have all too much to it, except the oil. We had the calomari too, which was fine - I may say it was quantity over quality, but we did eat it all. Normally I would be tempted to give a place like this 3 stars, but the service was so good that I'm notching it up to four. Definitely a nice night out! I agree that the food is delicious (though the menu is somewhat limited) and the wine list is fantastic (though a little pricey - you can find some good deals, and they have some really nice half bottles). The attitude is a little pretentious at times and the view could be so much more fabulous than it is. It's nice to have so many windows and beautiful lights - but it all over looks a parking lot in the middle of Chinatown - not exactly the most beautiful sight to see. I've never been disappointed with the food though - and the bar menu is great as well! As far as the atmosphere - think glass, windows, and soft neon lights. read more

Blu's pretty bad ass, but I can't get over the guilt of walking through a health club before pigging out on a delicious meal. The dining room is very cool, adn the view (all be it a parking lot, is still cool despite the fact that it's... a parking lot). I've only eaten there the one time, but would be comfortable recommending it to a friend for the ambiance and fairly reasonable prices, once you get over hte fact you are in a health club :) I had a pork dish, which was very good paired with a Gin and tonic- pretty hard to screw that up, and they didn't - The service was very good, and I'd definately go back if given the opportunity and it made sense for plans- Don't forget to hit up the Ritz next door, in the winter there is a fire place in the lobby, and the Bar next door to that is very cool as well. read more

White Ipanema Night last night...pretty awesome time. I believe the restaurant area is separate from the lounge area, so this review is just for the lounge. This is connected to the LA Sports Club and Ritz. Parking garage in the same building is ultra convenient and quite reasonably priced. Valet is also available. Staff is very friendly. The real appeal, however, is in the setup-- windows encompassing the walls really open up the space. Couches and tables are set up along the windows, providing ample seating. Parts of the ceiling are also glass, and the roofdeck is pretty awesome too. Views are decent as well. Hors d'oeurves were mini spring rolls, which were great. Made me want to come back and have dinner here. All in all, a fantastic setup-- gave me some ideas for my future penthouse. The couches were a little chintzy (but comfortable) given the upscale factor of the rest of the decor, but hey, no one's perfect. Overall, great place, great feel, convenient location! read more

Here are my thoughts. I've been to lots of nice restaurants in Boston and this one is just eh. First of all, the menu is very short. There isn't a ton of variety. Second, the food is just eh. Third, although the ambiance is quite interesting, in order to get to the restaurant, you have to walk through a CAFETERIA which just seems weird. While you're eating, you can kind of see out to the people eating in the cafeteria. It sort of masks the fanciness aspect of this place. So, i'd give it a solid "eh" and not go back again. read more
