Blue Ash Chili did not disappoint! I went to visit this recently relocated spot for lunch today. After all the struggles you hear about in the restaurant business, it did my heart good to see a line out the door waiting to get in. Once inside, every table was full and there were a lot of carryout orders flying out the door. I spoke t o one of the owners. Charlene. The new space is a little larger than the old place. Seating capacity is about the same. It looks like a lot if the decor from the original location made it's way into the new place. I had my favorite sandwich, the bacon and bacon doubledecker. Add lettuce, tomato, and mayo and you get a BLT the size of my head. It was fabulous. I have put a photo of my doubledecker in the comments section. Blue Ash Chili has been our family favorite since we discovered it years ago, we used to go to the mason location but visited the original last night since my son begged to go here for his birthday, it was well worth the wait time for a table for 6, outstanding service and food as usual, the chili is so good and the fried jalapeños take it to a whole new level, the 6 way is my favorite but the chili Mac with fried jalapeño caps on the side is soooo good too, and we are huge fans of the dogless popper coneys, the servers are awesome, very attentive with how busy it was, and the new monster shakes are so good! Double decker sandwiches and Cincinnati chili is what this place is known for. You will leave full. Old time diner setup. My favorite is the pastrami on rye. I normally get a double decker every time. This time I had the chili. The sauce is spicier then skyline and not as sweet but very good. Really anything you get here is great. Including burgers! What a slophouse! Walked in and all I could smell was burnt toast. Probably should have turned around and left right there, but I was curious what all the fuss was about and still haven't figured that out. The place seems to be run more for the owners and staff than the customers. Loud obnoxious music blaring in the cooking area from a cheap tabletop radio was there obviously for the benefit of the staff. Certainly did nothing for me or the customers. Sign posted at checkout that said "$5 charge for whining" says it all about the way they feel about customers. It's a chilly joint. One signature dish of a chili joint is a coney, and theirs was served on a stale bun. Chili wasn't better than any other Cincinnati chili place; actually, it was worse. 3 hours later and it is still sitting in our guts as if it were wallpaper paste. Ambience was the worst. Place was dirty; menus worn to the point where the printing was worn off. Feel like I need to take antibiotics after being there. Only went because of the hype on a TV show. Clearly undeserved. Our first time in Cincinnati and we wanted to try Cincinnati Chile. We yelped and found Blue Ash Chile. We are so glad we stopped here. You can be sure that we will be coming back! So I decided to try this local "classic", which also happens to have been visited by Guy Fieri and DDD. Being a traditional chili house, I had to do chili items. I started with a cheese coney, traditional mini dog with chili, cheese, mustard and onion, and let me just say...This is one of the best coneys I've had in a long time. Next I had a bowl of their Chili Mac & Cheese, which was a great twist on the standard chili Mac. This is their chili on top of their house made Mac & Cheese, topped with shredded cheddar. Simply put, it takes Mac & Cheese to a whole new level!! Delicious!! As I was ordering, the table next to me got their onion rings, and they looked so good that I had to give them a try as well, and boy, I am glad I did. They are delicious, fresh, and well.....gone now. Lol. Service was friendly, quick and accurate. Definitely worth checking out if you at in the Cincinnati area. It's hard doing everything well.Once you have been touched by Midas, expectations rise too. Our reasons for visiting were not Guy Fieri, they were cause friends who live here thought it was good for varied tastes. I'd say it is, but as a Chili snob I would not recommend theirs as being on par with Skyline Chili. They do have interesting dishes like the fried pickle coney"The Lizard". Double decker sandwiches are huge, salads and all kinds of sides along with the stuff to make it all better......BEER! That is something your typical chili parlor does not offer. I go to Blue Ash Chili for pre game sandwiches. I went to the Kenwood site and was extremely disappointed in the safety precautions used. The cook wore his mask under his chin, one of the sandwich makers only covered his mouth and one of the waitresses continually tooK her mask off when back with the cook and at times only covered her mouth. While I frequently visited BLUE ASH chili in the past for carry out, the last couple of times have not been great. Once I talked to the manager because my burger was cold and dried out, and the French fries were soggy. She said, I'm sorry! Tonight I got ham and bean soup, and the chicken sliders. The bean soup had maybe three pieces of ham and a couple of beans and carrots. The sliders were all over the place in the container, cold, and French fries soggy. I guess the lesson learned is don't get carry out from there, but eat in the restaurant!!! read more

Came here for lunch on a Wednesday and it was the best decision of my week! My colleague wanted to order food to-go but I'd never actually eaten inside, so I insisted we stay there. The place was busy but i found a corner booth and squeezed in. My colleague hadn't been there before so our server graciously called up two samples of chili so that we could get a taste before we ordered. I ordered a 3-way and slaw dog. I'd previously only had their coneys during a promo so, despite the unique offerings on their menu, I chose something safe along with something unique. My slaw dog was surprisingly delicious. My 3-way was also pretty good, though the spaghetti was very watery and kinda took away from the flavor of the chili and cheese. Service was wonderful, everyone was very nice and our food came out pretty quickly. For a Cleveland boy, the closest I get to Cincinnati Chili is Skyline. Because I needed to work in Cincinnati I looked for reviews that defined the best the city had to offer. Blue Ash was on a number of list and I was encouraged...until I opened my mouth. Probably the most egregious flaw was the soggy spaghetti. If you're pouring a chili over pasta, mushy and wet spaghetti is a no-no. The chili was surprisingly bland. I had expected more. This dish was a sad disappointment. A touch better was the Chili Cheese Coney. I love the combo of the mustard under the chili. Unfortunately it was not enough to salvage a flawed meal. Too bad. read more

Last night was my first time at Blue Ash Chili, and I have a feeling I will be back! What sets this chili parlor apart from the rest is the old school diner feel, the large, diverse menu (even people that don't like chili can find something here!), the above-and-beyond service. My husband doesn't really like Cincinnati chili as much as I do, so I was so grateful that they have burgers, chicken strips, and other diner options on the menu for him to eat while I'm enjoying my 5-way. The 5-way here was good...Better than Skyline for sure, but I think the chili needed some salt and I had to load it up with hot sauce to make it more flavorful. I thought the spaghetti was cooked well, and the portion size was good for $6. My husband liked his buffalo chicken tenders ($9), and the fries were really tasty. Yuengling bottles only $2.50! Food came out quickly, and service was top notch. Our waitress was Elle, and frankly this woman needs a raise because she was the only server for our half of the restaurant and she did a great job! I even saw her cleaning UNDER the booths, which means this place must be really, really clean for a diner. Yes, this was on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, so you can get some tourists here. This review is for the blue ash location. Have been meaning to try this place forever but never got around to it. Finally tried it and it was so good came back a second time. Might be our new chili spot. First time we came I got cheese coneys and chili Mac n cheese and a kids meal Mac n cheese with fries for the kiddo. The chili Mac n cheese was excellent and I've never had that before. It's Mac n cheese, which btw they have really good creamy Mac n cheese and my kid loved it in the kids meal, with chili over the Mac n cheese and some shredded cheese on top in a bowl. I can definitely see this as a hangover cure! Sooo good. You have to try it. The cheese coneys are what you would expect from a chili parlor. However they have different variations of a cheese coney I haven't seen anywhere else. Like they have a slaw dog for example which is a cheese coney with cole slaw on top and some other variations if you are adventurous. I didn't try those, but definitely plan to in the future. Their chili is really tasteful and I love the spices in it. It has a kick of cinnamon but it's really delicious chili. They make their own chili in house at the blue ash location, not sure about the other two locations as I've only been to the blue ash spot. I love places that make their own chili. Second time we came I got a bacon egg double decker and some chili cheese fries and the kiddo got cheese gravy fries with Mac n cheese. Omg let me tell you that double decker was the bomb.com! They fry the egg over medium so that the yolk is runny and i have never had a fried egg sandwich like that but it was amazing! And they got my bacon right first time as I'm picky about my bacon so that was a plus. That sandwich really hit the spot! The chili cheese fries were good too but they got cold while I was stuffing my face with the double decker lol. I think if I ate them first while they were still hot I would have liked them better. The cheese gravy fries were just ok. It was the only thing we didn't really care for. Honestly pleasant ridge chili has better cheese gravy fries but they are known for their cheese gravy fries and they set the standard pretty high when it comes to that. Here they weren't bad, just had better. I would recommend the chili cheese fries over the cheese gravy fries here. The fries are krinkle cut fries in case it's important to you. With my kid it's important as he is a picky eater. The interior is diner style and it's separated into two sections, one section is right in front of the counter and you can see them cook the food. This section is hotter and louder. The other section is away from the grills and is more quieter and more secluded. The booths seem old and wore down and weren't that comfortable. They probably could stand to be replaced. That's the only somewhat negative thing I have to say. Oh, and the water tastes horrible. I think it's just the tap water in the area but I got a water and it definitely tasted like some chemical filled tap water. I couldn't choke it down. I would stick with the fountain pop. But overall we will definitely be back because the food is very good and the chili is tasty. The server said they are known for their double deckers and chili Mac n cheese mostly. If you have never been it's definitely worth a trip to try it! read more

I disagree with the folks that dislike the chili here. It is lIke no other chili I've had in Cincinnati. The chili here is much thicker, and I think has a very unique taste (not as sweet as skyline, not as spicy as Camp Washington). Also, the noodles here are a lot better. I get the feeling that they actually put a little effort into them, whereas most places just boil some water and through it in. I've also tried the gyros and the burgers here. Both taste great. And you can get the burger on a pretzel bun, which is awesome! The staff is really friendly and is always there with a tip on whats good, or just helping you out with a drink "to go" on your way out. The one downside is that the booths are pretty worn in and getting a little saggy, so the table may sit a little higher than you'd expect. read more

This little hidden gem was amazing! The place was packed (Always a good sign) with multiple people waiting for tables to open up to be seated. Let me start by stating that I am not at all a fan of Cincinnati style chili, so this review is based on the other food items on Blue Ash Chili's menu. I've tried several things at Blue Ash Chili and I have to admit that just about everything on the menu could be made at home after a quick swing through the grocery store. Are the sandwiches big? Yes. But they are also nothing more than basic white bread and lunch meat. The fries are the basic crinkle fries that you get at every diner and Kroger sells in the frozen food section. Same goes for the onion rings. The one thing I can appreciate are the bugers. They had the pretzel bun burgers long before they became a hype. They are the classic, greasy diner burgers that you'd expect from a place like this. They have great flavor and the cheese is always melted and gooey. Mmmm! Blue Ash Chili isn't one of my favorite places in Cincinnati, but it's good enough for the occasional visit when you're in the mood for something cheap, greasy, and filling. read more

I have been meaning to write this review for awhile but am just not getting around to it. The staff were absolutely amazing. I was sat right away and they were friendly and attentive my entire visit. My issues arose with the menu itself. I had absolutely no idea what I was reading. That could be my fault as a foreigner to the cincy chili scene. But for a restaurant that advertises being on a tv show you think they would cater to the broader demographic. I ordered a bowl of chili with cheese and onions.The chili wasn't personally my taste, it has a strong taste of nutmeg and was almost too sweet for me. But I think I would have enjoyed it more had I ordered a coney or a hot dog with chili on it. I love that on nice days, they can open the windows in the restaurant and it creates an open space. I would recommend going during their not so busy times to make sure you can grab a seat and don't have to wait. Even with a full house the service we received was pretty fast. read more
