Visited for first time on a late Friday afternoon after work. Bar had about 10 people so plenty of room (early). Did notice a significant over 60 crowd at the tables, but it was early. Bartenders not very friendly. Then about 5:30, the place turned into a bingo hall. A lady sat down a near me at the bar and proceeded to slam her keys down at the space next to me. Took me a minute to figure her deal, but she was saving spots at the bar for her crew. When her very loud gals rolled in, the whole scene turned me off. They actually asked me if I was going to leave (so they could have my spot). If you hate the JoCo snobs, then stay away from this place. The place had a stuffy, country club Richie Rich feel. The food is way over-priced! And the restaurant is not that neat. Take your money elsewhere - unless you're one of the aforementioned JoCos, then enjoy! read more

Stopped in for some quick drinks with the lady before a short drive into KC. Not exactly a 20'something singles bar but plenty of jubilant folks in the seats. Didn't eat but had some taps. Definitely come back to try the build your own Mac N Cheese and chocolate torte. read more

Family meal for 4 pot roast is amazing and a very generous portion size. It comes cold but with instructions on how to cook it. Love seeing it busy during this time and staff taking such good care of costumers during this time. Sanitizers, gloves, and handwashing all visible during pick up! read more

Nice clean place. We met up with a handful of couples there Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. Good menu selection, lots of TVs to watch some of the games, tables have enough space so you don't feel overcrowded. Our waiter checked in often. read more

I was thrilled to find out that that Blue Moose was moving into the space vacated by a former bar and grille on Woodland at K10. This neighborhood desperately needs food purveyor choices! The day I visited was the first week of being open at the height of lunch rush. The place was quite crowded but there was adequate staff, and everyone was bustling, so the service gets a gold rating. The menu offered many items that you would not find on a bar and grille faire. I opted for the Cuban pannini, which was wonderful..Sliced pork roast, layered with smoked ham and mustard. Topped with melted swiss and pickles. Sandwich was crisply toasted, filled with oozy cheese and tasty pork. The pickle added the perfect punch of flavor to tie it all together. My co diner sampled the Smoked Turkey/pesto pannini. Again, meat was tender, cheese gooey, and the pesto added the flavor to tie it all up. Top notch on both entrees. Being a new establishment, the desserts did not escape my attention, and had to be sampled. We ordered the mini sampler size offerings of Limcello Creame Torte and strawberry cheese cake, which were listed as $1.99 and $2.50 respectively....But we ended up with the full size offerings at $6 per. Both were very good, the torte light and creamy with a slight liquor flavoring--the cheesecake had strawberry made into the cheesecake itself. Both still a good deal at $6, but was bigger than I needed to top off the meal. Our server was very polite and attentive, and answered a lot of questions, that I am sure she answered many, many times a day; but did so with a smile. My rating should really be 4 1/2 stars, but I was really impressed that it functioned so well, fresh out of the box , only being open a few days. Food was stellar and will definitely be returning....and I love that fact that it is close to home. I think this place will do well. read more

Went here with some out of town guests for dinner. We have been to the other Blue Moose location at 135th and Antioch, but this was our first experience here. We started with some fried pickles, which were great. For mains, I got the fish and chips, my wife got the "build your own" mac and cheese, and our guests got the filet mignon and the grilled strip steak. The fish and chips were excellent. Upon the waiter's recommendation, my wife got grilled chicken and grilled asparagus on her mac and cheese. It actually is a lot better than it sounds. I didn't hear any complaints about the filet mignon, and it looked delicious. The only person in our party who didn't enjoy their meal was the person who got the $22 steak. They asked for medium rare, and the steak unfortunately came out super well done. Not a hint of red or juice anywhere near that steak. It was tough to cut and even tougher to chew. The manager came over and took one look and removed it from the bill. His other offer was to replace it, but we were running short on time and had other places to be. The waiter helpfully offered to box up the steak that had one bite cut out of it, and when we told the waiter we didn't want it, he seemed surprised. Overall it was a good experience, despite the setback with the strip steak. read more

We visit the Blue Moose about once a week because we like the menu including some good Happy Hour food choices, and that we like that we are not limited to sitting in the bar area in order to enjoy Happy Hour. Dessert choices are pretty darn good too. The service is always excellent and we always enjoy chatting with our servers--Miami, Kylie, Amber, and Lauren R. are all great. Be warned, though, because this restaurant is a local favorite for people of all ages. read more

Wow! What good food! Wife and I are trying to eat healthier and they have a 600 and less calories section on the menu! We got the anchor salmon and it was awesome! The kids are off the kids menu and I got to taste too! ... Mac n cheese was light on the cheese and really good. The chicken strips were yummy as well. Our closest neighborhood restaurant, we eat here quite a bit for convenience. Coldest beer in town, but the food is very inconsistent. Can be exceptional or very disappointing. Friendly staff, but both managers have poor response when things aren't as they should be. read more

Absolutely stunning Shrimp and Chicken curry. Bursting with intense flavor. The shrimp were large, probably 21-30 count, and not over cooked as you'd find in most bar and grills. I had never heard of Blue Moose before my friend suggested we eat there, so I wasn't expecting anything great. But I was suprised, all of the courses were delicious! The atmosphere is very neat, it has a bar-like feel on one side, and a nice dining area on the other. The only issue I had was the service. The staff just seemed to be new to serving, but that's to be expected. Nothing too upsetting, and I'm sure after it's been open for a while everyone will get the hang of it. Do not go to the Blue Moose on Thursdays Happy hour and order the $5 Happy hour burger special !! First off they are under staffed at that time. We had to wait for ever to get our waitress ( Carey ) to get new drinks. At no time did she come by before our dinks where empty. Every time we had to request to get new drinks ever when she EVEN right there and passing by the table. Now to the burgers. They were not even worth the $5. On Thursday happy hour they are terrible, not seasoned properly if at all, they took for ever to get them out to the table. All three of use ordered medium well. Me and my wifes, were well over "well done". We didn't send them back because we would have been there another 45 minutes!! I noticed my sons at least was not well done, but could not really tell in the light. About 1/3 of the way through our 2 of skimpy orders of fries came out. It came out in 2 small bowls half filled with fries. Well my son could not eat half his burger and got it to go. Well today when he went to eat it, the meat in the center was pure pink, not red at all not even a touch red, not even rose colored !! A least 1/2 inch of it was pink. So stay away from the Moose Burgers on Thursday !!! After this I think I'll stay away for ever !! read more

These KCHopps people sure do get around! I had no idea there was a Blue Moose this far out in the 'burbs, and I had no idea they were part of KCHopps. On to the review! We went here as a large group on a Tuesday night. The service was pretty good. The food came out relatively quickly. Towards the end of the meal, we did not see our waitress as often as needed, BUT we did (kind of) close the place down so her sparseness was understandable. Once we found her to request the checks, she was very quick and proficient in getting them and accurately splitting charges which was appreciated. The food was good to a-okay. I really appreciate that they have some items listed as 600 calories or less. This made my eating healthier a little easier. The portion was plenty on both the light dishes and the full dishes. We had a varied spread, including roast chicken, Greek pizza, burgers, light chicken, etc. I was pleased with my choice, but a few folks were disappointed, especially with the roast chicken. It's not amazing food, but it's good enough for what it is. There were 2 things that stood out to me here. 1- They have TVs everywhere...and I mean EVERYWHERE. Each table had it's own TV. Part of me thinks that's awful and sad. Another part says, "hey maybe this would be a great place to watch that obscure sports game that I can never get the big bars to put on their tv!" 2- They have some pretty great specials. Tuesday is wine night where they have 10 bottles of wine for $10. Pretty good deal, and it was decent wine. On one of our bottles, the waitress couldn't get the cork out, and it broke. To my knowledge that could suggest oxidized wine, too dry a cork, poor storage, or maybe just a wine opening mistake. I appreciated that the waitress asked if we would like a fresh bottle. For the "second" one, she arrived at the table with it already open. She said she had the bartender open it for her...Call me a skeptic, but it did make me wonder if it was just the same bottle. However, I did not notice any cork bits or residue so I'm 90% certain she was being honest. Overall, I would not necessarily come to Blue Moose for great food, but I would come here if I wanted a casual night with good drink specials or a place to casually watch a game at my own table. read more

went to brunch on Sunday the 8th hate to say but the best western puts on a better spread for the price I would not recommend the brunch wait staff was great food was minimal and several items were out and did not replace till several minutes key items with a breakfast brunch buffet salmon,bisquits, eggs, just three of the minimal selection and bacon was at the bottom of the warmer wondering what they were doing in the back? probably not recommend the brunch again but all other events there are done really well dean. read more

Overpriced bar food that's just a bit fancier. I loved the KC Hopps restaurants when they all had different menus. Now, they are all the same. The burgers are okay. The Mac and cheese is good but expensive. I love the fried pickles but they are always so overly greasy. Service is generally good but it's not a go to for us by any means. read more

We started our dinner with the artichoke dip and it was so yummmy! I ordered a cup of broccoli and cheddar soup which was the soup of the day and it was yummy as well, but when it came out it was so freaking hot I had to let it sit and cook off while my party ate their salads. Finally not long after that the food came. Everyone got their meals as I waited to get mine which arrived a few minutes later. I ordered the miso Salmon with white rice and Asian veggies, and the presentation was great. I went for the first bite and it was so freaking hot as well I burned the side of my mouth. My party ordered the lemon chicken piccata, andouille sausage and chicken pasta, and the chipotle braised beef ribs. Everyone said their food was delicious except their food had to sit for awhile while my food cooked because the pasta dishes were room temperature. Still the dinner was great and for desert we got the cream brûlée with fresh fruit which was blue berries. All in all we had a good meal. read more

I go to the Moose for lunch most Tuesdays as well as various other times. I am a big fan of the Spicy Chicken Salad, the Moose Burger, the Chicken Nachos and the Chipotle Braised Short Ribs. I usually sit at the bar and get excellent service from Lauren B. who makes the dining experience much more interesting. read more
