Now if I was in the thick of my career, I'm sure this Bluestone would be one of my regular haunts for colleague shoptalk and corporate networking. But that was a while back, and my trips into this part of SoMa are currently few and far between, usually dictated by nearby medical appointments or increasingly rare reunions with old office pals. In short, this is a convenient stop in a central location. Their kiosk makes ordering pretty easy, and the wait has not been that onerous, at least for me. Whether it's the $5.50 Latte (Photo 8) or the $4.75 Peppermint Tea (Photo 7), my need for something warm and soothing was satisfied. I have yet to take advantage of their food items. Not because I don't find them appetizing but more likely due to the transactional nature of the space in the morning. Got the athlete's burrito for lunch and it was very filling and delicious. It was very healthy and protein packed. I've never had a burrito with lentils before and that was my favorite part. I also got the matcha latte, but it was a pretty big letdown. The matcha flavor was faint and the when i opened the lid, the powder was still clumpy and not well incorporated. read more

Great spot to grab a quick matcha latte. I got a matcha latte with oat milk. They have a kiosk and someone taking orders (although I think the person was taking orders because I came in with coworkers so they wanted to move things along.) The matcha latte was very good. I got it iced and it was exactly what I wanted. The cafe itself was bright and clean. We came in right before it closed, at 2:55 p.m., without realizing it, but nobody rushed us and everyone was friendly and fast. Flat Whites! Aussie Coffee! This is a coffee shop from Melborne, Australia. Victorian architecture at its best, mate! They love it when you call 'em "mate" when you order your flat white. Their coffee here is just simply amazing. It's perfectly roasted, these ones are roasted in NYC I think, and not in Australia before being trucked, shipped here. Nom! My favorite thing about this place is the TimTam bars that they offer to dip in the coffee drinks as you sip that make a perfect pairing. Seriously, out of all the coffee chains out there, if you ask me, Bluestone is the best! Nom. They always seem to get beautiful locations as well. I love a good cup of mocha and they sure had it! I've always loved Bluestone Lane for their coffee & breakfast items and am very glad I came across this store right in soma! It's a decent sized location on 2nd street in the KPMG building- not very busy during work hours both times I've been here which is nice. There is lots of seating, great lighting, free wifi (although sometimes hard to connect to), and bathroom available. The one thing that is slightly less convenient is the lack of parking nearby as is the case in most of SF so it's not a restaurant-specific problem. There are metered parking but just gotta test your luck! read more

Bluestone lane at the Avery is the best location for a weekend sit down coffee and/ or lunch. The coffee is, as usual, really fragrant and delicious. The eating area is spacious and nicely furnished, they also have a patio area that is away from the road down the cute alley with fairy lights. I appreciate that it's not near any traffic or pedestrians. The only downside is that they seem to always be understaffed and food takes 30 minutes to arrive so be prepared. It definitely feels like they prepare the online orders before they do the in dining orders because the pick up table is always full of unclaimed and cooling coffees. And for this reason alone, I would recommend making online to go orders before heading there. read more

Great coffee shop in SOMA that offers coffee imported from Australia as well as light breakfast/brunch meals. They mainly offer standard options and I didn't see any specialty offerings on the menu - however you can choose size, number of shots, type of milk, etc similar to Peet's or Philz. The menu is a little pricey and I ended up paying over $20 for a large latte and an avocado toast, but I was very happy with the taste. The interior of the coffee shop is open, has a lot of natural light, and the seating near the walls comes with surprisingly comfortable cushions (like they were extremely comfortable). Enjoyed the avocado toast from here and actually though the price was fine, considering I've seen it upwards of $15-$18 before. I didn't get coffee or a drink. On my visit it seemed like their system was messing up and kiosk orders just weren't going through. I was waiting around 30 minutes for avocado toast and during those 30 minutes others came up looking for their orders. Definitely recommend checking in if you aren't getting your order in a reasonable amount of time. Hoping they fix this issue soon. The worker was apologetic and said she gave me extra though looking at photos i dont know that that was true. Unfortunately, the breakfast burrito is truly bad. It's super small, and the bacon is chewy and fatty. The burrito's also not cooked on the outside -- I believe they use something similar to a microwave at the end, so it's overly hot yet soggy. Just really not good! read more

It's been a long pandemic. This spot yesterday reminded me of the old SF, filled with people having meetings, on their laptops, tech bros, and the like. I sort of miss just sitting on my laptop observing all the chaos. I enjoyed one of their salads for lunch which had smoked salmon, avocado, spinach, cheese, and more. It was a good value, but the avocado could have been a little fresher (that's the problem with prepping a dish like that when they start to turn). I also enjoyed a Pellierino and a Nitro brew coffee and both were good. Wi-Fi was consistently good even though it would randomly reset sometimes on my PC. There's plenty of plugs for those who need to charge their devices. Patio seating outdoors perfect from the sunshine and the street stays busy which prevents awkward street encounters to some extent since the neighborhood has become a little sketch. Slightly trendier coffee shop compared to the Starbucks right across the street. I got the Trellis iced tea, almond oatmeal, and an almond croissant. Place was pretty quiet so service was exceptionally fast. Everything was pretty well made. For example, oatmeal had shredded coconut, dried cranberries, and cashew nuts. Only negative about it was that it came out in a card box soup container. The lady warmed up the croissant which wasn't too buttery and had almonds on the top and middle of the croissant. I walk by this place everyday to and from work, and today, I finally caved to my curiosity and I gave their avocado toast a chance as well as their tea. Tea wakes me up better than coffee, so I ordered an iced Earl Grey and avocado toast. After tasting both, I would say both were hit or miss. The good: The toast itself was rich and creamy. They threw on chili flakes and olive oil, which was really a bold decision, but I liked the heat kick. It was definitely a (good) unique avocado toast. The bad: The service was pretty bad. When I ordered the tea and asked for it iced, the employee who rang up my order simply took out two tea bags, filled a cup with ice, and then pointed me to the water tap and said to just fill up. I don't know if he didn't know how to make iced tea or just didn't want to, but it was a weird decision to do that when I knew the tea wasn't going to steep. Fortunately, another employee who brought out my toast saw me with my tea and knew this wasn't the right way. He took the time to fix his co-worker's mistake, which I'm thankful for. I will give this another chance as the peanut butter and banana took me back to childhood memories of bliss. It's not crowded which is nice. I met an old friend who was in town on a Thur morning. I don't like the ordering kiosks, as let's face it, it feels dystopian and something only Bill Gates or Zuck would love. I ordered coffee and food. The person working there whose job functions is hard to describe due to the kiosks, ran out with my coffee quickly and she was very sweet. I sat there for 15 minutes waiting for my food. Never showed. I went to the front, and asked about it. It was in a box and no one has ever called my name. I can't complain about it being cold, as it was a peanut butter and banana sandwich, but it was odd that the coffee was delivered super fast, yet the food was left to figure out on its own how to find me. I like the music, techno stuff from the lobby of the W, but it is so loud that it was hard to hear my friend while we chatted. read more

Let me start off by saying that this is a pleasant spot to get your caffeine fix to start your day. I have stopped by a few times so far on my way to work and have become a fan. What initially brought me in were the self-ordering kiosk and minimal to no lines. At most other places, I typically order my coffee in advance so that I don't have to wait to pick it up. However, here, I don't mind ordering when I arrive and waiting a little bit for my drink to be made. The staff always greets me and they seem very kind and genuine. It is also relatively quiet inside, so there's a brief escape from the intruding city noises outside. Additionally, the layout it pretty open and the ambience is very mellow. I pretty consistently order the Mocha with two extra shots of Expresso. It doesn't blow my socks off, but I like it and, most importantly, it helps wake me up. I have also tried the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Croissant. It is quite filling and neatly packaged. All in all, I enjoy my semi-weekly visits to Bluestone Lane and recommend you check it out if you're looking to try a different coffee shop. read more

My first yelp review of 2020!! I work right next door to Bluestone so coming here for breakfast or a quick cup of coffee is super convenient. I think I've been here around 3-4 time already and each time was a pleasant experience! The first time I came, I ordered the seasonal prosciutto toastie and it's still my favorite thing on the menu! When you get it, it does look quite burnt (and I really don't like the burnt toast taste) but I was pleasantly surprised when I bit into it and it was perfectly crispy. The saltiness of the prosciutto balances well with the cheese and pesto. I also recently ordered the vegemite toast that I wasn't too fond of, but that's probably because it was my first time having vegemite and I didn't know what to expect. As for coffee, I've gotten a dirty chai and a latte and both were very flavorful and not diluted with milk and sugar. I like my coffee on the sweeter side so i added a couple packets of sugar to my latte. The chai was already a good balance. The inside is super cute and always very clean. The staff is very welcoming as well. Overall, I've really enjoyed bluestone in the morning and I'm excited to try more of their menu! read more

I was really sad when ladle & leaf closed this location and was eagerly looking forward to what opened in its place. I finally got the chance to try it today and I was pleasantly surprised!! It's a Monday so I went all out with #treatingmyself. I got the iced latte & ricotta, strawberry, & mint toast. Their coffee is really tasty and the iced latte is the perfect balance of coffee and milk. My favorite, however, was the toast. The strawberries were fresh and sweet, the ricotta wasn't too overpowering, and the mint had a nice kick. All on some really tasty bread! I took it to go and it came in a cute little box too. The interior is super cute and people who worked there very friendly. I didn't have to wait long at all for my orders. I was literally on my way to get a quick McMuffin for breakfast and I passed by this place and decided "hey, why don't I go for a fresher, healthier option?". Ordered the Salmon toast to go which is $9 for a slice of bread with Salmon on it, and it took them more than 10 minutes to get it ready! After about 5 minutes, I checked on my order after I noticed everyone that came in after me where already gone with their orders, and the girl told me it's coming right up. It took another 5 minutes after that. Where's the accountability gone? How about "we're so sorry, here's a gift card for your next visit"? Both tasted fine but neither were hot when they arrived; at best they were lukewarm. This was a nice place to meet up because it wasn't too busy and we could take our time.
