Stopped by around 3PM on a Saturday to get some work done. It's very spacious inside with plenty of seating, outlets, and free WiFi. It wasn't too busy at this time so I was able to find a seat right away.

Attending an event around the corner in a restaurant on a Sunday, I learned that hot coffee was not available there. My uncle requested this so I figured that, being in the Embarcadero Center 4, it wouldn't be difficult to find but it was Sunday. Seeing a young gentleman as we crossed paths on the crosswalk, I asked him where he got the coffee in his hand and how far it is. He told me that it's a good walk and thought there might be a competitor closer. A light bulb lit above my head and I Yelped it in finding this is the closest option. When I reached one of two entrances, I was glad they were open with five or six customers enjoying their beverages or waiting for their orders. Walking towards the cashier, I saw a sign (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=MxR2mkaliQGBMOq6E48-FQ) where to go. Ned, who manned the counter, asked me for my order and he helped recommend my uncle's order as well as mine. I tried the iced mocha Tesora, medium (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=rfgejMP5rkkusHvLGyiT8A) which hit the spot for me in the balm, humid climate we've been going through. My drink was sweet and cold besides being slightly creamy. My uncle enjoyed his large hot cup of coffee mentioning tasting honey in his. Thank you, Ned, for guiding me in choosing both my uncle's and my drink that day. And thanks to the friendly barista who put our drinks together. This store is part of the same building as the Hyatt Regency Hotel on its Market Street side.

If you want a specific coffee taste ... freshly brewed coffee for your choice - you have to try Philz... Light , medium, and dark blends... you pick your choice... I enjoyed the medium - with Hazelnut and caramel flavors - Philtered Soul.

My friend and I were heading to the ballgame but we got there super early from BART. We decided to get a little pick me up, so we stopped by Philz. I have enjoyed Philz from various locations, such as Walnut Creek and Cupertino, so I know I was expecting a good drink. Iced Mint Mojito: One of my go to drinks. Sweet and creamy and they did it just right for me. In a medium sized cup, this has the perfect amount of coffee and sweetness and the hints of mint always plays through for me. The ice was just right and everything about this drink, even on a cold day, plays right for me. I can always enjoy a nice cup of coffee from Philz.

Mint mojito, chocolatey and minty. Super close to the Embarcadero so after roaming around there, I walk over to get an iced mint mojito here. Plenty of seating, tons of outlets, friendly baristas. Although the space was very open, it was not as charming as other smaller coffee shops.

Philz is my go-to coffee spot in SF! Their iced Philtered Soul is a must! Very chill vibe and ordering ahead on the app makes it super convenient. Quick and friendly service every time!

Good coffee, poorly staffed. I know SF is expensive, but you don't see such understaffed cafes in Chicago. Probably a lot of pressure on the few employees that are there ... 10 minute wait in line to order; 12 minutes for the pour over. Ugh.

I always camp out here when I'm in the area and needing a quality, quick caffeine fix with reliable wifi and plenty of seats with outlets inside. Been going to their og 24th location and many others and one that that stands out is the consistency in quality and service. I love how much care they put into their drinks, never have they gotten an order wrong and always try to spell my name correctly. Small things like that really differentiate from big chains and other cafes! My go to is creamy cream w light sugar, Philtered Soul. The hazelnut is outstandingly wonderful paired with the cream, it's like a warm hug. Whether WFH, coffee chat, or picking up Togo, this is my go to cafe

Finally tried Philz after half a year of living in SF and it didn't disappoint! I tried the Luca's Unplugged Decaf with oat milk and light honey, and it was really nicely creamy with a light touch of sweetness. The coffee isn't too bitter either and tastes high quality. So comforting on a cold day! I really like how foamy their drinks are. Wish they had more decaf options though!! My friend got their famous mint mojito and I tried a bit -- it was really good!! So refreshing, and the mint adds a really nice flavor that's super unexpected. I also love how creamy it is. This place is open until 6 every day which is perfect if you need a late pick me up! It's also conveniently located near the ferry building/embarcadero area. Ambiance inside is very cozy and has plenty of comfy seating. Definitely a place where you could work or sit & chat for hours. Super friendly workers and quick service. They play really good music too :)

Philz employees who are talking crap about customers

I'm a regular at Philz. I usually use the app to order but Today I ordered in person at the Embarcadero location. The person at cashier very nice. The girl barista however had a major attitude for no reason. It was decently busy my drink was made faster than expected. I'm sitting across from her with active listening headphones (for my tism btw bc I feel the need to have to share this) so I can hear as if I'm not wearing them... She soft spoken said my one syllable name. I double check and ask what the name was she said? So she repeats it. Then proceeds to talk to the guy coworker loudly about how she had to repeat the name and if I wasn't wearing the headphones I could hear. How they hate customers like that and talk more about other past customers that get on their nerves... Are you serious???? Philz employees people like this?? As someone who also works in the industry it's an embarrassment. You're having a bad day don't take it out on random customers who barely said a word to you. Go to the back and talk crap. Hope she has the day she deserves

I made a reservation via Yelp for 3 people on a Saturday at 11:15am. My table was ready on time and they seated me even though our full party was running late. I got the Omelette Fried Rice (4.5/5), that came with delicious sriracha bacon, and an okay salad on the side. For my drink, I got the strawberry matcha latte with oat milk (5/5), which was fantastic. It's on the sweeter side, which worked for me. It was fairly busy and a bit loud inside. The dining room is long and narrow but has a decent amount of seating. Service was good, and friendly.

I also like how this place also gives non fusion options like pad thai and pad see ew if your looking for more traditional foods!!

Her serving team was the Kentucky Derby of thoroughbreds racing to place the silverware, condiments, used dishes, and refilled coffee going. The food tasted Michelin level. I can SAY that because we had eaten dinner at an actual Michelin rated restaurant the night before. (No Yelp rating needed because they ABSOLUTELY deserved it= NARI) I had a FRIED French Toast BECAUSE it cannot sit waiting to be served. My daughter had Eggs Benedict and the granddaughter had fresh fruit, fresh squeezed OJ in an ADULT glass (because she is a Big Girl now). While we paid our tab we heard a woman scream "I'm giving this restaurant a ONE STAARR REVIEW on YELP because of this WAIT!!!" OMG I thought someone had been ROBBED--but..on THIS Mother's DAY..it was only a spoiled young lady with poor manners. For me...now at a point in life that WAITING anywhere for anything is a PERCENTAGE of TIME I have LEFT to live...this breakfast was easily worth the time that it cost in human terms. Go any time you got a Mom, Grandma, Dad, offspring, first date or best friend you want to share a moment in time with early in the day over food and drink. No waiting worth mentioning. Thanks

We waited about 30-40 minutes on a Sunday, which was understandable given how busy and well-known the restaurant is. One thing that confused us was the ordering process. I initially wanted to order a particular dish (unfortunately I don't remember the name and for some reasons I don't have a picture of it), but one server told me they couldn't make it because they were missing some ingredients. Later, another server took the same order without any issues, and the dish arrived exactly as written in the menu. Since it was clearly available, I never understood why I was told otherwise in the first place. As for the food, it was good, but it didn't quite live up to our expectations. Having experienced Creole food in New Orleans, we felt the flavors there were more balanced and memorable. Here, our main dishes were a bit saltier than we would have liked, and overall the food didn't stand out enough to make us want to return. The atmosphere was pleasant, and I can understand why the restaurant is so popular. However, after visiting, I felt that some of the hype may be bigger than the actual experience. I'm glad we tried it, but if you're already familiar with Creole food from New Orleans, you may find it less impressive than expected.

I actually don't mind that- almost half the people were not around and it made the wait go faster. But I was a bit annoyed they sat us at a counter without asking- it was fine but we were expecting a table and would have probably rather wait a little longer for one. They only asked about inside vs outside and we said either was fine but no indication that we needed to mention we wanted a table. Most places seem to give you the heads up and make sure it was fine. Oh well. Everything sounded great and "The Plow" included 2 lemon ricotta pancakes, 2 eggs, pork sausage (you can also get chicken apple sausage links or bacon), and potatoes. The one nice thing of the counter is you get to watch them make everything and it is so organized and efficient. Food was solid. The wait went by pretty quick and wasn't a factor for me. I thought the pancakes were just okay- with all the hype I guess I expected them to be amazing but I honestly make better lemon ricotta pancakes (LOL). I think they needed a lot more lemon zest, maybe a touch of sugar, and the salted butter sounds great but added literally nothing. Maybe it was an off day and they weren't bad my any means but definitely nothing special. Similar thoughts on the pork sausage which was maybe slightly overcooked and the eggs which were a little under seasoned and I prefer mine a bit runnier. The potatoes were excellent, I liked those a lot and their hot sauce is very good too. $27 for the plate which seems a bit high but it's brunch in SF and it's nice they have the option to get the savory stuff but also a couple pancakes. And considering a single pancake is $7.50 it seems like a much better option to get the plate (overall all their sides are almost laughably priced ordered a la carte). I will say they use nice ingredients and a lot of the same producers I try to support in my own shopping/cooking as well as the same type of practice like pasture raised eggs. That in itself makes me feel good supporting them. I'd consider coming back but would request to sit outside and enjoy the vibes, definitely get something with potatoes, and maybe some hot sauce to go. Three and a half stars, I rounded up for now and will re-evaluate after another visit.
