Completely empty whereas boiling crab had a line even at 130pm. So went here instead of BC and it was alright. It took a while to get my order since it was just one waitress serving maybe 4 tables. The sauce here is not as spicy so order 1 higher than you would usually order at BC. There is a lot more garlic in the sauce which is a plus for me, not for the people who I was talking to though. The price here is a bit more expensive than BC but not by too much. One pound of shrimp x -spicy with house special sauce was 10 bucks. The atmosphere and everything is, give or take, a copy of the BC franchise, minus the people. They have short ribs here?! LOL. One huge difference between here and boiling crab is that I had to put on my own bib. So sad LOL JKJK. Trust, saves the awkwardness of being bib-ed by a waiter. My husband and I started coming here in 2010 when we decided to give up the usual long wait at BC. A friend of mine recommended Boat House and we thought it was an equally good alternative, though now, it's our favorite. Mind you, we drive all the way from Glendale. There are 2-3 cajun/creole seafood spots closer to us but we'd still rather make the 20+ minute drive for the better taste, quality, and service. We make it a point to dine here at least once a month, though I wouldn't mind making more frequent visits. We had also introduced our family and some of our friends several years ago and it's since become their favorite too! We always get shrimp in mild/medium house special sauce and it's incomparable in my opinion. It's still as perfectly seasoned and as flavorful as I remember it 7 years ago! I have been coming here for the fresh and plumpy shrimp and huge clams since BC started serving below average seafood. *NEVER MAKE A LINE AGAIN!* Love the House Special and the lemon pepper. Garlic butter is just ok. Their mild tastes like medium spicy, be aware. The Dungeness Crab was very good although be ready to spend some cash on it! I noticed it has gotten more customers lately which I don't like (haha, i'm shellfish like that) but I guess they deserve to be known by their very fresh and perfectly cooked shrimp. Corn is a hit or miss, sometimes is ok, sometimes is super sweet. Sausage was great too! adds good flavor to the bag. Sweet potato fries are a MUST. Parking behind the building. Honestly I was kind of iffy about trying this place out, but my friend said she liked it so I came here since I did not want to wait for boiling crab. The sauce is definitely not as good as BC's but it is still good in its own way. The price is slightly cheaper than BC's (I think) and there's never a wait when I come so that's a plus! However, do NOT order the "cajun fries" because they are so tasteless!! They barely sprinkle any seasoning on top and I swear the seasoning isn't even cajun so don't waste your money. I've also tried their sausages, but they were SO overly salty that I had to eat a lot of rice to go with them so I wouldn't recommend. I use to love Kickin Crab and boiling crab until I found this place!!! It's a little hidden gem. The house special sauce is the best! We always get shrimp and mussels. The flavors is better then other crawfish places I've tried. I love that they always put a lot of sauce in our bags vs other places are really oily or bland. The service is always fast. This was the first time eating at The Boathouse. I went there tonight with my daughter and her boyfriend. The waitress was very attentive, When we got there, it was after 8:30 p.m. so there were only about 3 or 4 tables with people eating. Everything was perfect up until I went to the bathroom to go wash my hands and I was very shocked to find that the women's bathroom was a disaster, very dirty doors, walls, counter, floor & soap dispenser. I did have to use the bathroom but I didn't, I only washed my hands I was so disgusted....just wanted to leave! Needless to say anymore, the bathroom totally needs a good wash down, sanatizing and painting! Come on people, I'm sure if I have noticed it, The owners & workers have noticed it as well. Today me and the wife ordered shrimp and lobster and crab legs to go. we order from here at least 2-3xs a month and the last couple times have been horrible, this last time really did it for us . Once we got home we opened the bag of lobster and almost threw up, it smelled completely rotten and had a stench of Amonia coming out of it no way we were gonna eat any of it, we spent a lot of money on the food just to throw it away . We used to come here all the time (me with my 3 daughters) and had been doing so for years! We preferred it over boiling crab, because the wait was not as bad and the food was great! This last time, we were disappointed. 40 dollars for a pound of king crab but all we received were leftover cut up short pieces of king crab and not full sections like we previously received. The service is great and food comes out nice and quick. The wait is not long for a table even on peak hours and the place is nicely appointed with several TVs. Coworkers took me here for lunch around 1pm. We were the only ones for a little bit and then 2 more groups came in. Plenty of parking and easy walkin. Tables have paper on them and cool decorations. Staff quickly served us drinks and food. My first time trying it, but my whole office loves this place. We got a pound of the peeled shrimp with sausage each. More than enough food! Private parking may be limited. However, behind the business lot is a residential area so it may be easy to find a parking spot. Food serving is generous. At least that is true for the fish and chips. I like the ambiance of this place although there are tv screens for whatever live programming is available. I find this place better than the Boiling Crab at Rosemead. Restroom has paper towels and not an air dryer!!! Hurray for that! The restaurant is not as polished as the other place but still good. I love it here. If I'm ordering for myself, I always get at least 1 lb of shrimp and 2-3 corn. Then I'll either add on clams or more recently, I tried their fish and chips that also did not disappoint. I get their house special sauce in either mild or medium and I'm always a happy clam. Don't forgot to ask for lemon and salt+pepper. Squeeze the lemon into the salt+pepper mix. Get your shrimp, lather it in the house special sauce, then dunk it in the lemon s+p mix for the added acidity to cut through the richness. No choice Boat House is the best over Boiling Crab. The flavors are amazing in just about anything. It's my go to in recommendations to others. Very casual, fun atmosphere even with a full house. However today's visit was less than my usual spectacular. We love the juice and all the spices and garlic cooked with the shrimp, today it really lacked flavor and juice outside the chili oil. DISSATISFIED to say the least. The fries used to be one of our favorites but we didn't even eat half the basket. Unfortunately they tasted old. The last few times even as leftovers the seafood less than their normal standards. Unfortunately with prices going up and taking away from the qality in which people enjoy going to these establishments will only cause us to find the quality somewhere else. OPENS at NOON. The fact that this place opens around lunch time vs. 3 PM was the biggest draw for us ordering here. We had to wander out of Rowland Heights, West Covina, SGV area to find a Cajun place open around this time. Parking is VERY AWKARD and I can imagine it might get pretty bad during the night time. We got greeted immediately and had our order taken. We got 2 lbs of shrimp, 1 lb crab claws, 10 pieces of sausage, 5 corn on the cob, and Cajun fries. Order came up to almost $60. The entire restaurant was empty so it didn't take too long for our to go order to come out. We got the mild house special. I was thinking it wasn't going to be too spicy because I wanted my grandparents too try. Unfortunately even at that level it was a bit too much for them. DO NOT GET THE CAJUN FRIES. Its literally just regular fries with some of the hot pepper powder sprinkled on top. Like damn at least place all your fries in a shake shake bucket or something. The powder itself made the fries mega spicy but the presentation and the evenness of the flavoring wasn't too great. The shrimp and crab claws were up to par. I don't think the sausage or corn were worth the extra cost. The sausage was sliced very thin and it was very salty. The corn was still too "young" and the kernels were small and shriveled up from absorbing the flavoring. I'd give this place another chance and order something else especially with the restaurant hours and lack of a wait. read more
