I never write a review, but I thought this was important. I'm dairy intolerant, so I always ask every boba place if they have an alternative options. The cashier said that most of their milk teas are dairy free. Shocked because all bobas use dairy as their base, you would have to substitute if you want a non dairy drink. It was my fault for believing him, but he also gave out wrong information. I called the store to check again what they use. I asked if they offer alternative milk like soy, almond or oat milk, he said no but we use dairy free creamer. Just to be clear with the person on the phone I asked so you use just regular milk. He said we use either whole milk or half and half and diary free creamer. Not only did they assured me that their bobas are dairy free, and I trusted them I am upset because now my body is reacting in a negative way. I love boba. So I always have to hit up every boba place in my area or near my school. Bobaloca, located a few stores down from Ranch 99 and near MickyD's. Came in on a weeknight around 8:30pm. The place was pretty dead. Walked up to the televised menu and couldn't really focus on one thing because it was filled with drink combos and the lettering was quite difficult to read. I asked the cashier lady for popular flavors, original milk tea and honeydew she said. So I went with a large size honeydew w/ big balls. My total came out to $4+. Expensive boba yo! I sat down and waited for my drank, which came out a minute or so later. The cashier lady brought it out to me...how nice of her. I stabbed my straw into the plastic and sipped. The drink was very creamy, yet honeydewy and the balls were cooked to perfection and had a hit of brown sugar flavaflav. For the price, it was 'aight'. I wasn't really feeling the layout of the shop-- rectangular shaped and bare walled.I don't like how you have to pass by the rows of tables and couches before reaching the order counter, the menu is small, and they don't have a to-go menu :/ Sorry I'm being a Debbie Downer, lol. Although I do like how they have playing cards and board games for the customers to entertain themselves with. Overall, the service was good and the drink was okay. Tip: When entering the shopping complex, Google Maps has this place on the left. This place is actually on the right side, next to Korea House and Jason's Hot Pot. So we walk in, warm in appearance, bubbly, and welcoming. Foosball table and couches on the left. More tables with games (like jenga and connect four) on the right. There were two menu boards, one showing the types of milk teas, shakes, and smoothies they can create. The other is the actual menu board with flavors that include green tea fusions, fraps, expresso, hot chocolate, chai, and hot lattes. Prices are reflected as well - between $3.49 to $4.95. The manager welcomed us and seemed like a nice guy. Unfortunately he ran out of a few flavors we asked for, but we still ordered. I saw him making our drinks in a cocktail shaker which was cool. The drinks came out and were pretty good, not overly sweet like some places. The boba itself seemed a bit hard, or undercooked. Or maybe we just didn't come at the right time. Finally, a decent boba place. I think this is one of the few places where they don't overdo it on the ice. Ordered the almond milk tea. The boba's smaller than normal, but other than that, texture is chewy and not too sweet. Boba is included in the drinks unless otherwise requested. In addition to the milk teas, they also serve slushies, smoothies, Hawaiian shaved ice, and customizable crepes and waffles. They have the classic mainstream games (Jenga, checkers, chess, Connect 4, Uno). Located in the same plaza as Ranch 99 and Kevin's Noodle House. Small balls. Tea was a bit strong. Needed more sugar. There's a huge amount of space but not really filled up so they could use some work in their design of the place. There are only about 4 or 5 round tables and each has an old game on it. They have waffles and crepes but no egg puffs. It was kind of quiet, not very busy when I went on a mid afternoon saturday. There were more employees behind the counter than customers. They did have a lot of drink options.But i got a basic raspberry black tea with boba that wasn't even that good so i don't know if those other drinks are all made that well.. I love how there are more boba places opening up in this side of town, aside from the average Quickly. This place has a cute ambiance, with a large floor space filled with seating and games. Also, the menu is dessert and drink-heavy, so come prepared with your sweet tooth! Their menu has a LARGE selection of each type of drink you'd want--milk teas to slushes to teas to shakes to coffee, etc.--and the quality ain't so bad. It doesn't taste anything entirely organic or homemade (I ordered a milk tea), but it is an upgrade from local boba offerings. I think I've been conditioned by SoCal boba and tea places, that it's hard for this place to compare. Overall, I love the variety of their menu, reasonable prices and cute shop setup. Review only of the boba drink, I stopped by during my break so I didn't get the chance to hang around inside to play the board games or anything, but then again I went by myself so it's not like I had anyone to play with! . I'm sure it's a fun place to hang out though. Parking: they have a shared parking lot with the other stores, but it's not too difficult to find a spot But I had gotten the Tiger tea I think it was called with boba and I was just hopping for it to be better than the Quicklys further down in the plaza. Wow, the best Avocado Smoothie, bar none! It is the real deal when you see one employee slice and quarter a fresh avocado in preparation for my awesome smoothie. The drink itself has a delectable faint indication of sweetness; are fresh avocadoes really that versatile? I cannot describe how good their Avocado Smoothie is; avocado aficionados just go to Bobaloca and try it out. Not neglecting their other menu offerings, their rendition of the standard Taro Smoothie drink is delicious as well. Oh, and their waffles are great too, a perfect pairing to their drinks. This place is great! Located around the same area as 99 Ranch, Bobaloca is a fantastic alternative to all the Quickly locations that seem to be dominating. Tons of classic games already set up on tables (cards, Jenga, Connect 4, etc.) with a nice foosball table on the side. Great place to hangout with a small group of friends. All outlet plugs are blocked though, so not a good place to try to study. On this visit, I got the almond milk tea. It was very fragrant with a good amount of sweetness throughout. The boba was served with a consistent soft and chewy texture. Yum! Aside from milk tea, Bobaloca offers a lot of variety from shakes to smoothies to frappuccinos and more. It has come up with the recent rise and popularity of bubble tea, boba, etc. It's right next to this falafel shop and a few stories from McDonald's. It's easy access from all sides whether you're walking from say Mount Diablo High School, taking transportation on the bus, or driving yourself here. Parking isn't difficult here. The options are numerous. Park in Park n Shop itself, park in the garages near Todos Santos, etc, This place is pretty cute with how each table inside had a game on it. One table had chess, another checkers, another Connect 4, another Jenga, etc. To me, this really shows that this place is welcoming to all and they expect you to come by and hang out here. Let's go with their menu. They have the standard milk teas with the option of boba. Flavors go from taro to strawberry to mango. They got shakes as well like Oreo vanilla, or Oreo chocolate. They got sodas and waters too. They interesting thing to is that they even got crepes! Now I normally go for anything with Oreos. But I wasn't in the mood for that, so I opted to go with what was almost always second option: taro. Regular sized taro milk drink with boba cost $3.75. Fairly cheaper than the likes of Quickly and ShareTea. Their regular is maybe a bit smaller than a regular from Quickly's and is definitely smaller than the regular from ShareTea. There was a lot of ice in my drink. The boba was at the bottom. The drink didn't look mixed that much so I had to shake it a bit. Taste wise taro in itself is a bit bland in my opinion. But the right amount of milk and sugar can make taro taste like the best thing in the world. On a scale of 1-10, the taste of this drink in a right mixture of the three things I previously named was a 4. It didn't help that I could hardly grab the boba. I had to shake my drink, put my straw at an angle just to get the boba that was covered by the crushed ice. I don't believe I would come here for the milk tea or for the boba. It was a let down. So glad to find this place after running around the whole day; tired and thirsty. It is conveniently located in the strip mall anchored by a Ranch 99 market. This treat store has smoothie, fusion tea, milkshake, slush, frappuccino, latte, crepe, waffle, and of course the boba milk tea as implied by the name of the store. Frankly, that was what attracted me to the store. On the day of visit, the store was quite busy. It has a few tables. Simple decor but a clean store. The employees worked well to take order and make the products. Wait was not long to place or receive the order. They could be more friendlier as there was no smiles, Hi, or Thank You. Maybe, just overworked and underpaid. Unfortunately, with that customer service though, it is hard to get a good tip. Tried to order a winter melon boba milk tea. But, what? They ran out of boba and had to wait 10+ minutes? Very disappointed as I did not have time to wait. Had to settle for a winter melon milk tea with grass jelly. We initially ordered the Milk tea but wanted it with no sugar/sweetness but the person taking our order said he couldn't do that. We'd have to order it with something else. Stopped by here after 99 Ranch shopping. Convenient location. Got a hit milk tea but it had serious smoky/coffee flavors. I wonder if we got the wrong order. Also tried different flavor teas (peach, Mango, and passion fruit). The Mango was sweetest and strongest. The peach was a little bland/lighter sugar so good option if you want something light. The passion fruit was super tart and syrupy flavored. The Mango star jelly was nice because it's similar to lychee jelly but not as sweet which is good balance with the flavor teas. Also got to try the Boba. It was super chewy, no hard spots like stale Boba has. But I like my Boba softer. read more

I stopped by after work on Friday. I was craving a smoothie. I ordered a Pina Colada smoothie and a nutella crepe. The nutella crepe was good but the pina colada smoothie was sour! It had too much of a citrus taste to it like I was drinking a lemon smoothie instead. First timers. For me, customer service is everything. This place sucks. First and foremost the male that was working was extremely unpleasant and rude. We asked a few questions regarding size and he was short and annoyed when answering. Second the girl that took our order knew nothing. We were asking the difference between the smoothies , teas etc and she just looked at the menu with a blank stare like she didn't know what I was talking about. We ordered 4 drinks initially and 3 out of the 4 tasted like coffee. We had ordered a blended coconut drink, coconut milk tea, and I forget what my mom ordered but they all tasted the same. My sister bought another drink after telling them that they all tasted the same and instead of trying to make it right she charged her for another drink. I personally have had a good amount of boba teas in my life and I can say without a doubt this is the worst place I've ever ordered from. To our surprise every drink that tasted like coffee we were told had mocha powered in it. Coconut and coffee do not mix well because all you taste is coffee. Horrible service. Horrible product. So I ordered a taro milk tea with boba pearls and as I got home I started to drink it. All of a sudden I felt something weird inside of my mouth as I was drinking my milk tea so I decided to spit it out onto my hand just to see that there was a DEAD FLY IN MY MOUTH. This is another favorite of mine to get my Boba fix. I love the choices, nice selection, not too much that it can be overwhelming. They also have slushes, smoothies, shakes, various teas, pastries and sandwiches. I love the bubbles, good chewy texture, but not the jelly. There's nothing wrong with the jelly, just a personal preference. The workers are fast. I'm usually in a hurry when I come here. I've been here many times but on this visit I got crepes with strawberries, whipping cream and Nutella. I know it's not the healthiest. But it's for the seven year old. He loves it and wants another one. It's not the first time the boy had it here so when he asks for it and I'm on a time crunch, this is where I go. They make the crepes at the end of the counter. You can see it on your way to the restroom. Just look to your left to see the working area on your way there. Btw, nice and clean restrooms. I love that the working area is nice and clean as well. They have proper places for all the things they need. There's a tiny glass shelving to the left of the front counter with macaroons. I've never tried those. Not a big fan even when I visited Paris. Maybe because I bake and I know what goes in them. But they have them if you want them. There seems to be different workers every time I come. Friendly enough, not rude and always helpful and ready to answer any questions. Just need a little more vibrancy and consistency in their personalities. You need it you know when you work at a place like this especially nowadays when there's lots of competition around. The place has an inviting vibe with green and orange accents on the wall. TL;DR - My main gripe with this place is that it's a bit expensive. For the same price at another establishment, you can get more quantity AND quality in your cup. Stopped by on a random Thursday afternoon after grocery shopping at 99 Ranch. I normally go to Sharetea (a few blocks down Willow Pass) but I didn't feel like making the short drive down, so I decided to try this place instead. Bobaloca is easy to find--the green storefront is just a few stores to the right of 99 Ranch, before Rockin' Crawfish. Upon walking in, there were a few customers seated at tables. Some were eating crepes (I think) and others were drinking milk tea. Nobody was in line so I was helped immediately. The menu actually has a decent variety of options and is displayed across a few screens. I went for the wintermelon black "fusion tea". (In case you're wondering why it's called that, you choose a flavor and they fuse it with either black or green tea.) The drink plus grass jelly came out to $4. This is normally how much I pay for milk tea/boba, but Bobaloca's cups are the smaller sized ones. The drink came out in a couple of minutes. It was very cold and refreshing, although maybe I should have asked for less ice. I really liked the tea! I requested 50% sweetness which was perfect. The grass jelly was just okay though, nothing special. For the price, I just wish there was more of it to enjoy. The establishment itself has many tables as well as board games set out, so it's a good place if you're with a group of friends. I don't hate it, but I don't like it either. Give Bobaloca a try recently and got their large coffee boba (~$4). First thing I noticed was the large amount of ice in my drink. I was pretty much forced to finish my drink quickly because I don't like watered down coffee. The tapioca balls were a little overcooked, as they were on the mushy side. Overall, not very impressive. The shop was spacious and clean. But because there were only a few tables in a large space, it made the shop look empty. Board games and Jenga were available for patron use. What makes Bobaloca unique compared to other similar establishements is they have board games and such here. Battleship, Connect Four and JINGA! Each table has a game placed on them if you plan to stay in with the homeboys and homegirls and chat for a bit while enjoying a drink, shaved ice creation or partaking in one of the delicious French Macarons they have here. Yes, I said it right, "French Macarons" and having them here was my first experience with them and I have to say....they were the "BOMB" BoooooM! They have assorted flavors, I choose Green Tea, Vanilla, Mango, Pistachio for my flavors but they have more. For my boba tea selection, I usually go for Milk Tea's. I like the creamy flavors. Thai Tea, Tiger Milk Tea, Honey Milk Tea, Honeydew Tea ect. Creamy flavors, upon scanning the menu I seen they have a Banana Milk Tea. That totally was intriguing to my taste buds. I love bananas, and seeing them prepare this milk tea was the best part. They actually put real banana puree in the product.....Yes, Yes, Yes! And that made this experience all worth it. Every sip you had that banana hit and tea hit and it all just came together nicely. My large Banana Milk Tea was $4.00 bucks, along with my Macarons, which was $9.00 bucks so $13.00 bucks on this trip. It was totally worth the splurge. In conclusion, Bobaloca I feel is trying to set themselves apart from what the "Typical" boba tea experience is. They have brought something to the table that I'm not use too, they have made it hip and fun. I can see why they stay consistent. The quality and the value is all worth it. Bobaloca is located off Willow Pass Rd in Concord. I the Park and Shop strip mall. Roberto's Mexican Grill, Mickey D's, 99 Ranch Market are some notible landmarks to mention. We were looking for something sweet after having hot pot nearby and decided to grab a couple drinks for the road. We got the Lavender Milk Tea and Almond Milk Tea and I must say both were pretty underwhelming. The Almond Milk Tea just didn't compare to other boba shops I frequent. It was way too sweet and had a very odd aftertaste. The Lavender drink was slightly better but not by much. They had an array of dessert offerings such as crepes but since we were pretty full from dinner we skipped it. Also, they sell selected flavors of Creme Si Bon macarons which I LOVE! The gentleman at the register was extremely nice however the older gentleman in the back perhaps the owner was extremely RUDE. I had to remove my scarf in order to taste the product and within a few seconds he was telling me that I had to leave if I didn't put my scarf back on and did a "shew" with his hand gesture. I stepped outside to calm myself where another patron told me "that was uncalled for". This was my first and LAST time ever patronizing this establishment and if you are a POC, I think you should consider it as well. Me and bubble tea just ain't friends, so when a friend took me here promising a sweet treat, I was a bit skeptical. And then to my delight he ordered us both the Dirty Affogato, which comes with the macaron of your choice! Now THAT is a treat I can sink my teeth into! This location is quite spacious, filled with low tables topped with board games, so it makes for a fun environment. But the longer we sat there enjoying our treats, it became obvious the low tables topped with games make the joint more family friendly, which made it quite noisy. Fair warning. But the dirty affogato is a worthy treat. Priced a litte steep at $4.99 for a small portion, but at least it is piled up with goodies - a scoop of vanilla ice cream topped with an espresso shot, whipped cream, hot fudge and caramel with about six flavors of macarons to choose from. I opted for hazelnut to pair up with the coffee, and it was fresh and sweet! Overall it was really a sundae that had coffee spilled on it, but if you enjoy the bitter snap espresso can lend to a dessert, it's a fun twist on the Italian classic. Red bean milk tea is pretty good. Not too sweet. The boba wasn't as soft as I usually enjoy but not too bad. Service was good and the place was really clean. There seems to be a lack of tables with all the space they have. Couple of games here and there to pass the time. Just an OK boba joint. I think I prefer the Quickly which is in the same area. read more
