Extremely disappointing. We made reservations and still ended up waiting. Then after our "not even close to fresh crab cakes" appetizer came out it took an additional 40 minutes to get our food. The lobster tails were awful and overcooked, as were the shrimp...which makes sense all stuffed into the same bag with crab, and potatoes, etc. The seasoning was so garlic heavy it was impossible to taste anything else. And for this underwhelming disaster of a meal, it was severely overpriced. Who charges $4 for a can of soda.... The waitress was nice but never checked on us and she looked disheartened after getting yelled at by who I could only assume was a Mgr. And to top it off, we all got sick from it for the following 24 hours after eating there. We gave it a shot, but shoulda stuck with Point Loma Seafoods for fresh, amazing seafood. Me and my best friend are constantly trying new seafood boil places, because we love them, and I was super excited to try this new spot given the ratings it had, but sadly there was nothing special about this place. I along with my whole group agreed that the sauce was super oily. Has a tomato paste like taste to it. Ambiance was nothing. There was no music playing when we got there. Service was fine. Most of our group didn't even finish our food because it was not enjoyable. However we ate because we were hungry. I will not be coming back. We didn't have to wait too long for the food to be prepared and everything was packed perfectly so no spills on the way back. We ordered the shrimp with heads on with corn, sausage & of course jasmine rice. Had the Daddy Sauce with it and extra Butter Garlic Sauce on the side. MUST order extra Butter Garlic Sauce!!!! It's so yummy and I tried to replicate it at home, but I can't seem to get it just right like Boil Daddy. We were seated immediately; a guy took our drink orders only for another waitress to come by & retake our drink orders & then only for her to let us know that 1 of the drinks was not available. Let me start off by saying the atmosphere was nice. They are still building the sign so you may not see the building at quick glance. Now our experience wasn't the best. This is still their trial and error stage so there was a lot of things that needed work. They are quite on the expensive side and the quality of the food was a let down but big thank you to our server Aldrine and Johnathan for hearing us out and wanting to make things right. Came here and had such a great experience. We were greeted right away and seated, and after sitting down we realized we wanted to move outside because it was warmer. The staff had no problem accommodating us and even helped move everything for us without hesitation. I normally don't write reviews unless I REALLY feel the need..unfortunately tonight is that kind of night...We made a reservation in advance and arrived on time, only to be told we wouldn't be seated because they were closing soon. What's the point of accepting reservations if you're not going to honor them? It wasn't just us!! three other couples were told the exact same thing. We all stood there confused, wondering why reservations were even available for that time slot. There was no real apology or effort to make it right. Just a casual "we're closing soon" attitude..as if we hadn't planned our evening around this reservation. It's incredibly disappointing to look forward to a night out, ON VALENTINES DAY! only to be turned away at the door despite doing everything correctly on our end. Poor planning and even poorer communication on their end. The reservation me and my boyfriend made was at 8:30 along with three other couples who had the same booking slot?? We waited outside and didn't get asked any questions in regards to the booking. Instead was told that other bookings were being seated first which is fine, but come to find out the party before us all had reservations for 7pm and we were outside at 8:30 (reservation time) and 7pm reservation still were outside not seated.. and don't get me started with the lack of inefficiency, three tables were filthy and could of been cleaned while we all were outside waiting to be seated. Definitely a waste of time standing around waiting for nothing?? I value service just like I value a restaurants menu. I had such an amazing experience at Boil Daddy in San Diego! I brought one of my girl friends who was visiting from out of town, and it was both of our first time trying this place and wow, it did not disappoint. From the moment we sat down, the staff was incredibly attentive, welcoming, and helpful. They really went above and beyond for us, they gave us their spiciest sauce on the house to try because we were so curious and even made us mimosas, even though they're usually only served on Sundays. That kind of service truly made us feel special. Now the food... absolutely incredible. We each got a bag of our own picked seafood boil and everything was so saucy, thick, and full of flavor. The seafood tasted super fresh, and the potatoes were perfectly tender and soaked up all that goodness. Every bite was better than the last.
