The employees seemed very frazzled and all over the place. They had different sections at the table for people picking up food through different delivery companies. The customer in front of the line was going through all the bags on the side to look for her order... Yikes. At the time we were there, there wasnt much waiting and we got seated within 20 mins of being put on the waitlist which was perfect! All of the ingredients was fresh and i loved that they don't skimp on the seafood and veggies... I like that the broth isnt salty. The most turn off is the 30 minutes wait. I would not have waited if it is not my visiting sister insisted to eat this hot pot. My philosophy is that if the restaurant can accommodate the demand in a reasonable manner (5 to 10 mins wait acceptable) then they won't earn my business ever and I won't come back either no matter how good the food is. I can't stop coming back! Even during a pandemic. Their hot pots are absolutely addicting. I've never strayed from their #1 house special with stinky tofu so I can't speak for their other offerings. But I've tried to find a BP replacement when lines get too long and haven't really been able to find anything that hits the spot quite like BP. For takeout, they're offering family style type hot pot at $26-28/set for 2. But I still think their regular lunch special with a pot and drink comes out to be about the same price. Boiling Point. How I'd love to hate you. Boiling Point has, IN GENERAL, really good hot pots/soups, flavor wise. The food quality/preparation/presentation and service, on the other hand, are left to be desired. Many times, when I'd order to go, I would find a whole "stack" of beef slices or a whole "chunk" of chicken pieces in the soups. It was evident that the meats were frozen and therefore stuck together, and were cooked that way. But the only way for the meats to REMAIN stuck together tells me that the cooks don't give it anymore attention once the meats are put in to cook, and are just packaged as is. At least on two separate occasions, I have asked for NO PORK in my soups but they still managed to place them in there. And they know this! Well aware! The person who handed me my order even pointed out my request and proceeded to tell me there's pork in there! I mean...!?!? WTF?! It's not the end of the world for me as they can easily be removed; but for very pork-sensitive people out there, I can't imagine the disappointment - and waste of food & money - when they discover they cannot eat the soup. I wish this was something BP can work on: to be more sensitive to those with different special diet needs. Another special diet needs that is very important BP should be aware of and be careful with is people with nuts allergies. I ordered their Beef pot and under their ingredients/description page there was no mention of nuts. Only once you've placed the order, under the order details and the e-mail confirmation does it say that it contains peanuts. That is a very important piece of information you need to disclose upfront! I was glad I caught it; called the restaurant* and had it removed; otherwise my son would've suffered severe allergic reaction from it. This is serious! To some people it can be fatal! *This is where the service comes in. When I called the restaurant and said I needed to make a change to my order, I was initially basically told "no, no changes can be made once the order is in." That was rude and unprofessional! Boiling point is one of my favorite places to go, whether it's to catch up with old friends or to have a nice meal with my family. I always get the milk cream curry and it never fails to disappoint. The garlic soy sauce and spicy garlic bean paste sauce makes everything taste better. My spice tolerance is pretty weak so I always default to no spice, but for a good kick, I think mild or medium is the way to go. Of all the times I've been, the service has been fine, you can always ask to fill up your soup, put out your flame, or relight your flame. The price is fair, considering the fact that most places are around $12-$20 for a meal. So for $15-$16, I can't really complain. read more

Last week, I called ahead to order food and went to pick it up. When I arrived and was about to pay, the manager asked me for my ID. At first, I didn't think much of it--it seemed like a reasonable request. However, as I stood there, I noticed other customers came to pick up their orders, and none of them were asked for their IDs. This started to feel strange. Why was I singled out? Then, it hit me: the only difference between me and the other customers was that I belong to a different minority group. I am not Asian. It dawned on me that the manager, in his biased judgment, might have assumed that because my skin tone is darker than his, I was somehow less trustworthy and might try to steal a $22 meal. The irony of being racially profiled by a minority was both hilarious and disheartening. I am not even that dark, so it's disturbing to think how they might treat someone with a darker complexion. The food here might be good, but their treatment of customers reveals a disturbing tendency to stereotype. It's unacceptable and disappointing to experience this in 2024. I ordered their mild beef hot pot and let me tell you, they are not going easy with their spice. their mild is SPICY. I really am perplexed by why so many people like this place. There is constantly a line outside however the best way to best the rush hour traffic is to go there around 11.30. Also, it is recommended that you bring a jacket or a sweater because they purposely blast cold AC in there to prep for all those high temperature Hot Pots. It's a bit crowded and also dark in there as well. The customer service is average but the food does come really fast. I don't recommend you getting the Korea bowl because it taste nothing like Korean. You will be very disappointed. It also felt like they placed a bag of Ren inside as well which tasted a bit fast foodish. I would recommend the Taiwanese spicy which comes with either rice or noodles. Ambience: A nice air conditioned place to escape the sweltering summer sun. Came here with friends and it was a nice place to talk while enjoying some delicious pots of goodness. Honestly you can never go wrong with a meet up at Boiling Point. Food: Of course hot pot is always good. I love BPs portions of vegetable to meat to noodles. Everything was good as usual but the soup was offff?? I cant explain it but it definitely has changed. The soup base isn't as strong as it was before and did not leave that dry feeling on my tongue. This should be a good thing but it made my meal less memorable? I used to remember soothing my tongue with some delicious lemonade and basil seeds but BP does not have this anymore. Dined here before COVID struck and wow, do I miss this place! BP is a dependable chain for the individual hotpot experience. The wait time can vary between either 5 mins or 2 hours depending on when you dine, and some stores allow you to check in via Yelp Waitlist if you're within a certain distance from the restaurant. I usually try to come here for lunch, as you get free green tea or black tea with your order! The sauces available on the table are good, but I end up forgetting to use them as the soup broth is good on its own! I usually go with the mild Beef Hot Pot with rice, though the mild is still slightly too spicy for me. The star of the show is definitely the fish cake with "I heart BP" on it. The portion size is big, and I end up not being able to finish everything! One helpful tip is that I usually ask a server to turn off the fire, otherwise I end up burning my tongue! Let me preface this review by saying that the service here could be better... But the reason for my rating is the food. My favorite is the beef hot soup in medium spicy. The broth is good, and I think the amount of toppings it includes is enough to satisfy anybody's hotpot cravings. I like BP's Taiwanese spicy hot soup too (which only comes in the larger size and flaming spicy), but there's only so much spiciness I can take lol... So if you have a high spice tolerance, I definitely recommend that. I crave BP, but I think it's because of their dipping sauces... They are so addicting. I like to combine the bean paste and garlic soy sauce together and use it on everything!! Even when I order BP togo, I make sure that the sauces are there because it isn't BP without it. December 2018 After spending time at the Moonlight Forest, we were ready for some hot food, especially soup. My kid recommended this place and off we went. There was a wait so we used that time to figure out what to order. We were lucky that I got a free parking spot right in front of this place so we didn't have to wait out in the cold, like the other people waiting for a table. Once inside, we placed our order and patiently waited a short time for our steaming bowls. Upon arrival of the food, I thought there would be more food, but I was pleasantly surprised that I actually felt full afterwards. Your food has a little fire underneath, and I HIGHLY recommend keeping the fire burning because surprisingly the broth got cold quite quickly!! You can also ask for more broth, which I wish I did.
