I love Boiling Point, especially when it's rainy or gloomy or cold out! I've never not waited to be seated here, but for good reason...hot pot is delicious! I enjoy coming here during their lunch hours because of the lunch special where you get a black or green tea with your hot pot. With any order, you get a choice of rice or noodles. I usually do rice because I like it with the flavored broth. The Korean Beef paste is my favorite flavor and I get it 90% of the time, but I like trying the different pots when I get the chance. One major perk about hot pot is that you get so much in the pot! Depending on which pot you choose, you may get fish balls, tofu, veggies, fish cakes, etc. Such a warm treat. read more

My lord this place fills up right at 11AM!! Came here with a coworker last Friday (given that it was observed Veteran's Day), this place was PACKED right at 11AM! My coworker and I arrived around 11:15AM, just to be rejected by the waitress and had to get a number and wait in line :( Good thing is that at least parking was easy to find! We roughly waited for half an hour before the first wave of people started finishing up, and finally got seated at one of the booths. This location is rather small, and therefore can't seat a whole lot of people. Be sure to come early and ON TIME if you are coming with a big party and aren't expecting to take a long lunch! As for the quality of the food - it's pretty standard comparing to its other locations. What I like about Boiling Point is that the quantity of the food they provide hasn't decreased over these past years (it's been probably 4-5 years since its first store opening). Although the price for each pot definitely went up over the years, I admire that its quality and quantity still maintained to be the same. Haven't been to boiling point in a while and have been craving it. This place is delicious, and it always has been. When we went on a Saturday night around 6, the wait wasn't too bad. There was about five groups ahead of us which was about 15-20 min wait. Usually it's a pain to get a seat because it's so busy. I love this place because of their beef bowl. Usually, I just order beef pot and get extra sides the share with whoever I come with. I barely get any other pot other than that. It's amazing and flavorful! The pots are now around 13 for lunch and 14 for dinner. Service is always horrible at boiling point regardless of which one you go to. They seem to be always lacking people or the people there just work slow. Tables were opened yet none were filled. Either way, don't think service at boiling point will ever be good. Several times after we had our orders taken, we would ask for help and be ignored on multiple occasions, I'd had to pull the race card, but it honestly seemed like the workers favored helping those of Asian descent.. new customers would come in after us and receive their food and get helped frequently. While my girlfriend and I were maybe helped once when we were served our food and never acknowledged again. We even asked for a water cup and received the bill instead. I have a little bit of an obsession with this place. Ever since moving to San Diego, boiling point has been all I've dreamed and craved. I'm trying to draft them to open one in San Diego because we barely have any good food and I'm sure it would be such a hit! We usually get the angus beef pot with garlic pork belly and spicy fermented tofu on the side (because how can you come to a Taiwanese cuisine without it?). FIRST TIMER. I absolutely loved it. I'm really not hard to please and I'm the most basic out there. Never in my life had hot pot so everything in the beginning was a little overwhelming because I wasnt sure how to start and what to start eating first. I really just sat and looked at my food for a minute and felt lost. The fire quickly flamed up making me lose my soup a lot faster than my friends but don't be afraid to ask them to just close it up. They're also very attentive and will even offer more soup if that's the case. But over all, ordered the beef (peep my photo) and I enjoyed that a lot. I cant stress enough about how delicious their tea is. I have shared my thoughts on it with EVERYONE except with Yelp, lol. Holy smokes. My friend took me during lunch time and it came with free tea. I personally dont like unsweetened tea but my gosh, theirs was delish! Wish I actually paid for more to take home. So I've never been to the Irvine one but it was my first time at this Pomona one. A few things: service is amazing here. There was no wait. I arrived at 5pm on a Sunday and there were plenty of empty tables. I was seated right away. Nice decor. Place was nice and well kept. I ordered the beef soup and the house special. Both were excellent. I had mild for my level of spice. It wasn't too bad at all. Both soups, along with veggies and meat were fresh. No complaints at all. My only gripe would be with the dipping sauces. So imagine jazz cat, except without the amazing sauces. The soup broth is amazing but I also need amazing flavorful sauce to go with my meat! Anyway it was a great experience. They even have tofu that said I love boiling point on it. Props to them. I had the chance to eat here with my friends and I had a great time! It took about 15 minutes to get seated at a table for 2. The restaurant was super packed and the seats were super close together, however I didn't mind. The restaurant staff were super attentive and were quick to take our orders. The food came out a few minutes later; my friend and I both got the Beef Mild. Something to note, Boiling Point's spice levels are more on the spicy side; I would say that their mild spice is on par with medium spice at other places since their medium spice is pretty spicy (from experience at other locations). There was also a small hiccup in my stove's ability to turn off, however it was quickly fixed and I didn't mind. The overall experience was super great, service and food were excellent, the restaurant as a whole is just a bit cramped. Will definitely come back though! read more

Yay Boiling Point! I think I have a review that I've written for the Irvine one but this here is for the wonderful Chino Hills one! Came here on a Saturday morning at 1055am (they open at 11am) and they already had a long line. What? A long line you said? How is that even possible? Apparently they knew that BP in CH had a long line on Saturday. This is for lunch too! Isn't lunch til 12? But the Boiling point also is really small and has about 13-15 tables. We were Table #9. Ordered my go to, the wonderful seafood one (#2) and it came out in 5-10 minutes. The plate feels a little smaller than the one in Irvine, but at the end of the day, Boiling Point on a cold winter's eve (okay we're socal it's not freezing) is still good. Plus you get a free green tea as well because you get it for lunch! At $11 as well, so the price is pretty good. Their clams had a little bit of sand in them. Their shrimp was good, the egg took a while to make, but you get to add one of (rice/vermicelli) to add to the pot. There's a good amount of lettuce in there :D Tofu. Not a fan of tofu but it's okay- make the hot sauce that Boiling Point gives out there and mix. Iz good. Make sure you come early because -huh huh- you'll find out that people will be standing in line. This Boiling Point is located in a small strip shopping center by Costco in Chino Hills. The restaurant is in a space that is way too small for them. As a result, they cannot keep up with the steady stream of customers. We arrived at about 5:50 PM on a Sunday night. The line was already out the door. We quickly signed in and waited, and waited, and waited. As we were waiting, one of the waitresses went outside to those of us waiting and started taking our orders. While we were deciding what to order, they made things tough for us when they told us that they were out of the Seafood Tofu Hot Soup, and the Lamb Hot Soup. We ended up ordering a Beef Hot Soup and a House Special Hot Soup. 10 minutes after ordering, they took us to our table. Since the table was already set up and clean before we sat down, there was not much for them to do. The only thing they did was ask us for our drink order. Within minutes, our dinner came out. We had no complaints about the food. My wife would've preferred the Seafood Tofu, but, the Beef Hot Soup was good enough for her. My introduction to the House Special and its Stinky Tofu and Pork Intestines was surprisingly pleasant. Even the 9 year old daughter liked the stinky tofu. Unfortunately, this was all I could say was good about our dinner here. A few minutes after the our dinner arrived, they asked if they could put out the fires on our camp stove. The waitress seemed surprised when we answered "No". We later asked them for more water(soup) for our pot. Again, they seemed surprised that we asked. I know that there is a long line of people outside, but, to try to get rid of your customers by cutting off service is plain wrong. Not a good experience at this location. At 11 am... at 10 pm... there is still a line... I can't think of anywhere in Chino hills that draws that much attention day in and day out aside from the Costco gas across the street. Luckily, they now have an IPAD system where they text you when your table is ready. Beef pot: don't even need a menu, this is my go-to. It comes with fish cake, enoki mushrooms, cilantro, bean sprouts and a certified boiling point stamped tofu. The medium has a kick to its hot flavor and I usually need a milk tea to get me through the meal. Comes with a vermicelli in the pot, but I usually double up instead of the rice. Pro tip: 3 spoons of red hot paste, 4 spoons on garlic sauce, 5 drops of hot drops Hokkaido Milk tea: what are the odds you find such a good milk tea in a hot pot place. Smooth and creamy. Not too sweet with a slight aroma. Reminds me of a caramel milk tea. I don't come here too often mostly because of the long wait times, but every time I am reminded how good this place can get especially on a cold night. Price is reasonable and if you come during lunch, there is a promotion for drink. Fair warning, you will smell after eating here. Service is a hit or miss, but its a single individual pot with all your ingredients in there already. Busy but worth it! read more

It was also 104 degrees outside..but what better way to celebrate than eat hot boiling soup? The food was quick to come out. Everything was hot and tasty. This is my second time coming here and I have to say that there has been improvement at this place. I'm quite pleased :) I highly recommend taking advantage of their $9.99 lunch specials, that includes your choice of hot pot (excluding the Taiwanese Spicy, Japanese Miso, and Thai Flavor Hot Soup) along with your choice of noodle or bowl of rice and a free drink. The lunch special ends at 3pm, and our party of 4 arrived at 2:30pm and there were already 4 parties ahead of us. We barely missed the lunch special (so definitely plan accordingly for that awesome deal!) but we were satisfied with our meals afterwards. I ordered the Lamb Hot Soup, which consisted of Nappa cabbage, vermicelli noodles (there's more of it than the last time I came here! big plus!), sliced lamb, enoki mushroom, imitation crab, pork blood mixed with rice, tofu skin, one clam, pickled mustard greens, and tofu. I have to say that this was filling with the bowl of rice. My stomach is content :) For those who are interested in trying the lamb, just know that there is a distinct aftertaste or smell that I believe is an acquired taste. Not everyone will like it. But other than that, we decided to top off our lunch with some desserts! They have ice cream macaroon sandwiches now! Flavors come in strawberry, vanilla, green tea, and cappuccino flavor for $2.50 each. We had the green tea and I have to say that it was okay. The macaroon cookie crumbles immediately upon a bite, however the ice cream is a bit more dense and hard as usual. I personally prefer Milk's ice cream sandwiches. TLDR:PHONE DOES NOT WORK. staff are horrible, expect long waits to order, then long waits to get order, food is still fine, though quantity has decreased as price has gone up(normal). This in itself is not reprehensible, but what really ground my gears this past week, both times their staff did not seem to have been paying attention to the line, and were constantly mysteriously moving in and out of the restaurant, not carrying food or anything,not delivering it to cars, not notifying customers of anything, nothing, just going in and out of the restaurant self-importantly. When I asked about the phone being out, both times they just brushed off my questions, not even hanging the phone back on the hook or anything(I saw them on the first day take a phone call and ask to hold for crying out loud). No new phone number, nothing, just seems like they don't care about business since their order tables seemed pretty empty. I was also annoyed because before I switched to Chinese with them, they really liked to ignore me. After they became slightly more helpful, but almost dismissive of me as a customer. It was such a horrible experience, especially during COVID, especially that it happened twice in two days(my family likes to eat this place). I understand restaurants have to cut corners or do different things to survive, but what I'm seeing is a slothful wait staff that no longer cares about the customer, or business for that matter. I was so traumatized both times that I am literally considering going to a location 10 miles away instead so I don't have to deal with them. Food is still fine. Shortly after, the wait grew to approx 30-45 minutes! The earlier you come, the better. This location is one of the smaller ones I have been to, but the parking is also the easiest. $11.99 for the standard hot pot soups during lunch which includes either black or green tea. I'm boring and always opt for the beef soup but why change my order when I know what I like =P Decent amount of veggies, tofu, and meat inside the pot. Absolutely LOVE all the sauces they provide at the table, yum. Service was the best I've ever experienced here! The place has 10 tables and all the tables were filled. Water is def tap water, yuck! The hotpot was not bad. I got seafood, my dad got house special (with stinky tofu), and my mom got kimchi hotpot. The pot is slightly on the small end (smaller than jazz cat) but has a good variety of stuff. Way more veggies than meat, so you meat lovers will probably finish the meat in 2 minutes. It also comes with a little bit of vermicelli and tofu. There's a mini sauce station, where you have 3 choices: chili oil, chili bean, and garlic soy sauce (not bad, kinda sweet). Taro shaved snow was authentic. It's pretty on par with the stuff in China and Taiwan. Warning: they do not have satay or sesame sauce. WTHECK!?! I was utterly disappointed and shocked. How can they serve hotpot without having the standard sauces? It's like serving fries but not having ketchup.
