sadly to write the bad review of this place.. We went there last night and it was almost full. I understand it Friday night. The music was soooo loud.. seriously loud. I couldn't hear and anything the person next to me talking. The server was nice... but seriously brand new I could tell. He forgot to put in our appetizer order. I was like fine.. our soup arrived already anyway. But when I got my soup, I noticed the bugs in my soup.. Serious;y I don't know what it is... it could be the roach but I don't know. I told the server and pointed to that bug in my soup and told her politely that there was bug in my soup. The server looked at me and said "I don't know what it is" I was pissed even more. She ended up brought it back to the kitchen. and She brought one back with no bug in it. I was so disappointed .. It was the same one that i got earlier! they just took the bug out with not making a new one. This is very shame on them.. The server has never said sorry to me even once. I love BP. Since the day I got introduced to it, I have this intense craving for it constantly. Unfortunately, I lived in Portland for the last 3 years and couldn't quite reach it as much as I would like. However, the boyfriend and I just moved to North Seattle area (more like Lynnwood) and I am proud to say that I live less than 10 mins away from this BP! You know I'm going to be eating here probably everyday! My go-to is the#10 Thai Fusion. I've tried a couple others such as beef, seafood&tofu.. and another I can't remember but Thai is my favorite! With that being said, it's also the most expensive :( because it only comes in a large size but that's okay because I can finish the whole pot in one sitting, although it takes like like 2 hours with my liking for spicy + the heat.. woo! This place is good and busy, not sure if I would come again just because the food is a bit too exotic for me. The beef soup is tasty but was surprisingly spicy (i asked for mild). I couldn't stop coughing the first few sips. Also the fire under the pot is cool in theory but you get the smell of propane directly in your face while you're eating and it is a little off putting. I asked the waiter to put out my fire after my soup started boiling and it was easier to eat without coughing after that. Although my friend and I agreed it was hard to eat without getting a runny nose from the spice--probably not a good date spot if you're trying to look cute while you eat! I love soups and I've wanted to try Boiling Point since it opened in Edmonds. First let me say that I have never been to any of the other locations and I'm not proficient with chop sticks.... well, I wasn't, now after visiting Boiling Point, I am. I will not lie, I was pretty intimidated by this restaurant. Boiling soup on a bunson burner box, chopsticks and ingredients that I normally would turn my nose up to. But I'm not a food toddler so I put my big girl panties on and went in all by myself. I'm glad I did. Let me say, some of the ingredients were over my head. Pork intestine, cuttlefish... Nope. But number 9, Japanese Miso, looked promising. It comes in a large bowl on a boxed biunson burner like device. He lights it. You are given two small bowls, one with rice or noodles, and one empty small bowl. The soup boils. I sat and watched how other people were eating then with some measure of difficulty due to my chop stick handicap, delicately moved some of the beef, tofu, fish, and clam into my small bowl. The broth was a breeze thanks to the duck spoon. Now to the soup. AMAZING! The beef was delectable, the fish was delicious, the Fuzhou fish ball was so good I wanted 10 more, the broth was exquisite and I fell in love with the fried tofu. My only complaint about the soup was that I was unable to eat the snow crab because I couldn't figure out how to get to the meat with a chopstick or spoon. My soup was 17.95 and worth it, but my green tea, which was 3.95 was a little steep and because the menu doesn't state that it's sweetened (I wouldn't have ordered it) I wasn't able to drink it. Came here for lunch on a Saturday. The place was busy but we were seated within 5 minutes. We ordered 5 hot pots and a couple of appetizers. The hot pots are sized for one person and I like the broth of all of the hot pots. Although there were plenty of food in the hot pot, I did wish that it came with more meat. The portion of the appetizers are on the small side, not really worth the price. The meal did come with free tea which was quite nice. This was my first time visiting this location, and I had a great experience overall. There were plenty of servers working so the service was fast. We were given extra napkins without having to ask for them, and our water got refilled a couple of times. We got the house special and the beef soup (both medium spicy). If you're into spicy food, definitely go up to hot or flaming spicy. I had to take one star off for the house special- it kind of had that fishy smell that raw or old meat sometimes has. Once you step foot into the restaurant someone is always greeting you and they make sure you are doing good. I remember the first time ever that I came here, one of my friend dropped their chopsticks and one of the server quickly grabbed a new pair so quick before we even had a chance to ask for a new pair. They are quick to ask what you want, and they are always making sure to repeat your order to make sure everything is correct, also the food comes out super quick right after you order! Hot and steamy! My go to is the milk cream curry! Delicious! The soup is creamy, and it has the right ratio of vegetables and protein! Make sure if you do get rice, pour the soup onto the rice! I promise it will taste great. If you want to order extra sides, I recommend trying the lobster balls or a side of the wok noodle! I stopped in to see what this place was about and needed to-go food. Then I saw the setup and why it's called boiling point. They light fire at your table under your soup! I knew then that I'd have to return when I could dine-in to get the full experience. I got a couple appetizers to-go and they were amazingly tasty. So I brought a friend back with me recently and we were very impressed with our soups we chose. Both were beef but somehow different. I think mine said stew. It had large slices of tomato in it unlike hers in case that helps anyone. They provide iced tea with your meal. We added hot ginger tea. It was SO good! It was pretty sweet. Before this location opened, I've been going to the Boiling Point in Chinatown and the lines were always horrible, so thank god for a Boiling Point in Edmonds! The service was really great, with the server checking on us periodically and turning our hot pot off when we wanted. We were seated promptly and the guy even let us pick our table so that was nice. My go-to order is the beef hot pot, it's tried and true, but I've also had the curry fishball and Taiwanese and I would recommend any of them! Okay, sometimes you just have to travel a little farther from the city to find something new and exciting to try. Finally had the opportunity to try this place after years of passing by it. We had no idea what to expect since this was our first time trying something like this. The menu options were overwhelming; so many delicious looking bowls to choose from. If you haven't tried this kind off dining before, it helps if you know how to use chopsticks. I orderred the seafood and tofu combo and my husband ordered the beef one. There is also a separate list of add ones, not to be confused with appetizers! I added the lobster ball. The dish comes in a wok-like metal bowl that sits atop a small stove with fire below. When your bowl starts boiling, it's ready to eat. Do be careful since the broth and goodies are hot! My bowl came with shrimps, baby octopus, fish cake, etc. with some greens. The broth is simply flavorful and very complex, and varies with each pot. It was amazing combo. The price is very reasonable and if you go during lunch, it's a little cheaper around $15 a pot. The soups are sooo delicious here. All the soups I've tried have been spectacular. Ive tried everything on the menu except for the curry soup. You get a bowl of rice or a bowl of vermicelli with your soup. You can order additional add ons as well if you wish. Also if your soup gets low on broth bc it's been boiling for a while you can ask to have more broth added. The only thing i don't like about boiling point is that it is quite busy for dinner time so they try and rush you along. For example bringing you the check once they see you are finished with the soup versus waiting for you to ask for it. This wouldn't be a good place to go with kids bc of the open flame under your soup bowl and also bc the restaurant is quite small and can get crowded easily. read more

Came with some friends and had the beef "hot pot". The food was good, but I wouldn't call this Hot Pot. I suppose I should have had more "red flag" warning signs when I saw that almost all the photos of the food on review sites were close-ups of the bowls and there were no plates of ingredients. I'm accustomed to Hot Pot being a "do it yourself" style of dining, where you're sat at a table with a stovetop and a bowl of broth to boil, or a communal broth/oil pot in the middle, and then plates of raw or par-cooked ingredients so that diners may cook and assemble their own bowls to their liking. At Boiling Point, all of the food is brought out in the bowl already cooked. Any additional ingredients ordered a-la-carte are also served pre-cooked. There are no heated tabletops, but a chafing tray is put under the bowls and then a fire is lit under it to keep the bowl hot. After about 5-10 minutes a restaurant employee comes and extinguishes the flame to avoid overcooking the food too much. I suppose this is all fine if you're looking to eat hot pot but are strapped for time, but I wish it was a little more obvious before we sat down that it wasn't going to be more traditional. read more

There is usually a line so be ready to wait, but it's usually worth it. They don't seat groups until the whole party has arrived. I usually get the lamb soup w/ spicy level hot which comes w/ good toppings like the kimchi cabbage, an egg, crispy tofu skin, etc! These guys have scored a very prime piece of real estate for themselves without a doubt. They're right on the corner or two of the busiest streets up here, and they have big display windows across one entire wall that really showcase the dining room. It's always packed, and all the bowls of hot soup often steam up the windows. Before you even notice the name or know what's inside, you're already curious. But notice that sign--it's "Hot Soup," not "Hot Pot." They're clear about this, but it's still a bit of a disappointment if you're more in the mood for hot pot. There's a decent amount of parking, and there's probably a line. You get inside, and everything is built out to the Nth degree--nice signage everywhere, covering the walls from floor to ceiling, all matching tables and chairs, everything looks very coordinated. They spent some money here. The staff hustles and bustles, but they don't really have servers. Everybody busses, expedites, and takes orders, and there are tons of them, all in matching uniforms. But you don't really get one person who makes a point to check in with you or anything like that. That's okay, because there are so many people working, but it still feels more like a cafeteria, even though there's full table service. The menu is about a dozen different soups, and everything comes out fully cooked in a small wok. You can add a bunch of stuff to each dish if you want, but there are many ingredients in each already. The menu clearly lists each one, which is cool. What really sucks is that each little tabletop wok is more like a camp stove, with a can of sterno under the pan. They light the sterno to keep the soup bubbling, which is fine, but there's no ventilation in this place (remember those steamy windows?) so when you lean over to smell the food or get a bite, you feel asphyxiated before your spoon even touches the broth. I had the Hot Beef, because they were out of whatever I ordered first, and the broth was pretty good. I just had to lean back, reach across, and hold my spoon over my rice bowl to eat it. Unfortunately, the beef was like crunchy rubber. I quite eating after a couple of bites, and we bailed. Two bowls of soup and a cup of sweetened green tea was $36. That's a bit much even for good food, but it's ridiculous for something that was impossible to finish. Came here today, their second day of opening. Hubs and I arrived around 9, which is fairly late, and they were out of a lot of their soups, including our favorite, the beef hot pot. We were able to sit down immediately, and if you've been to other BP locations, you know it can be a wait. We decide to try new things, and I got the tomato and he got the lamb one. We ordered beef and quail eggs as extras, which for us, is always a requirement. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of pork in my soup, but to be honest, I'm not entirely sure if that will be a standard, or if they were making up for the fact they were missing so many options of soup. Either way, thumbs up. One of the things that made this location different from others, is that the side of beef we ordered was cooked, and other locations often serve it raw. It seemed more flavorful to me, but I'd definitely like to see if that's something they will continue later. Second thumbs up! I also ordered milk tea, and a couple ice cream macarons. I think they got my milk tea order wrong and gave me something else. It was opening weekend so I didn't have the heart to say anything, and as always, ice cream macarons were tasty. We just discovered that this is the worst branch for sure--I ordered the Japanese miso and it was burnt. We called the manager and told him that it was burnt. He smelled it and said "really? It never happened before". Oh well it is happening! Everybody in my table smelled the burn and it tastes really bad. Also they messed up our orders. Somebody who ordered later than us got dishes earlier than us. They served some ice cream and apologized about messing the orders. I wouldn't give them one star if the dinner was as good as the other branches. The service is bad, they don't know what they are doing. Everybody needs more training. All the BP'S have crappy customer service, but this place takes the cake. We asked for water and we got tiny paper cups onlu have filled. We had to constantly ask for refills. We ordered 2 hotpot and 2 teas. Super simple order. Yet somehow they messed up on both hotpots, both teas and brought our 4 rice bowls. WTF?!? Worst part of this location is the fact they CAN'T SERVE RAW FOOD!!! This means when you order an egg or meat, it typically would come out raw and you cook it in your flaming hot soup. All other locations do this. According to the server, the county has strict laws and they can't do this. So no raw egg to crack in your soup and they precook the meat for you and bring it on a plate completely overcooked and shriveled looking. This makes absolutely no sense consider the 5927263892 other Korean bbq restaurants that line 99 all bring out plates of raw meat to be cooked on the grill. This place sucks, if I have a BP craving I'll drive my fat ass to Bellevue or Seattle. read more

I am so happy boiling point has opened a north end location!! The interior is modern with a slight rustic feel to it. More tables and a lot bigger than Bellevue where I used to frequent. We came right when they opened for lunch and there was no wait. We were seated and handed menus right away. They didn't bring water until we asked for it. But other than that our server was pretty attentive and fast. I ordered #4 beef 2 stars and hubby got the same with 3 stars. Lunch comes with iced tea which is nice. We also tried to order extra beef on the side but our server went to check the back and said they didn't have any extra.. That was weird since they just opened? But I guess everything is pre-packed. So we ordered some pork instead. The food came out steaming hot and tasted delicious as usual. Same flavor as the Bellevue location so no complaints. Only thing different was the side of pork was pre-cooked. At the other locations the side of meat is normally raw. The restaurant started to fill up around 12, and by the time we left there was a line out the door. So if you plan to come be prepared to wait for a table or come early. read more
