Came here on a Saturday for lunch since I haven't had BP since they moved to their new location in San Gabriel. I was pretty surprised with how much the price increased for lunch as it now costs $19.15, a huge price jump compared to last year when it was still $15. I ordered the beef hot pot with mild spicy which is my go-to order at BP. The taste has remained pretty similar to what I remembered which was a good point. I don't think there is really a wow factor that makes BP extremely unique and for the food, price, and quality, I would just say it's alright. read more

Food is good especially during this cold time. Waiting time is a little bit longer because they will not let you sit until your group is complete. They took our orders right away. I got the beef soup non spicy. My only concern here is they should cut the meat into pieces because it's long and hard to eat. They have a small parking lot. You may have to park in the street. People are still waiting outside after we leave. They are refilling your soup and they asked us if we want to turn off the stove because it's already smoking in the table. When you first walk in, it's very clean and cold because it's hot pot. The food is very flavorful and I want to give it more stars but I cannot get myself to. The service was not good. It's not our first time at a location but first time at this location. We needed to get out of our seat to go to the front to ask for things. They were refilling another table's soup and did not bother coming to check on us when our pots were nearly burning due to no soup. Let me start off by saying I LOVE Boiling Point. The food is delicious, savoriness becomes a craving, and the sauces are to die for. The unwelcoming staff are rude, but I kinda expected after reading some reviews. I came here to enjoy some nice soup on a rainy day, as I tried to join the waitlist they had taken away the ipad and you had to join through a qr code/website, super inconvenient because it made you change your location. Even after changing my location settings, it still wouldn't work, so then I decided to go inside to put my name on the waitlist. I encounter a female worker who is extremely rude and should not be working in customer service with that attitude. I put my name down and it says 0 minute wait, but that was wrong because I waited close to an hour. While I was waiting, 30 minutes passed and people were leaving, so now there's about 6 tables empty. Then I go to the female worker again to check my status and she asked if I had a togo order, which I responded with no, then she asks if I received a number, I said yes. I'm absolutely baffled because then she says go sit down wait outside. Are you kidding me?! Her tone of voice, the way she is talking to customers, it's all entirely unacceptable, and she deserves to get fired. Service and wait is so terrible, people started to seat themselves. read more

I came one night to eat some boiling point and had to wait about an hour wait which that is fine cause I know how busy it gets during dinner time. Since this location has a small parking lot I would recommend finding parking on the side streets. The food and service was to be expected which is why I was happy with my time there. Overall, if you can't wait that long to be seat down then probably don't come here, but the food is pretty good. read more

I don't really care enough to review Boiling Point as I can eat it whenever I'd like and that it's just a same old comfort place to eat, but this location is just not it I hope the business owner sees this because the social awareness and assertiveness of the employees is awful. My family and I waited for an hour to be sat and realized why we and other groups of people waited for a while. We noticed that there was a table of four who have clearly finished eating with their to-go boxes ready to head out, but they sat and stayed comfortably to talk and hehe-haha together as if there weren't a great amount of customers outside waiting to be seated. It was very good service of one employee to have offered water to them as well so they could replenish their talking mouths, staying longer! I understand we all like to enjoy sitting and talking at a restaurant with our people so I am not completely blaming the customers. However, as a customer service worker myself, it's important to be aware of your customers and maximize everyone's satisfaction. The employees could have gave the table a notice on leaving due to the other waiting customers, and so that could've reduced stress on the employees and customers. It could have reduced so much waiting time and customers as well (although it was probably one table, still). The soup quality was okay. Not worth on paying though. I would've went to another location. The drinks were straight caca. The passion fruit green tea tastes like a jar of fruit purée from Costco mixed with water. This place is such a pass. New boiling point location! It's much smaller than the old SG location on Valley. They currently have a deal where you get double meat and unlimited rice/vermicelli. My partner wasn't hungry so we shared one beef pot and it was enough for us! Service was very attentive - something I'm not quite used to that other locations (if I'm being honest) I came on a Sunday night for dinner and the wait was 40 minutes. If there wasn't a huge party taking over 3/4 of the restaurant, there wouldn't have been a wait. read more

When I went in, all the tables were taken. Staff is friendly and nice. My favorite pot is always lamb pot with medium spicy. Somehow I feel the portion is bigger than before. I could literally see the person's phone screen and read the text who was next to my table next to me. Their parking area is small too and a hassle to get parking otherwise it's street parking. Still great after all these years. I believe this is the new location for the one that closed on Valley Blvd. It is smaller but the wait isn't any longer (20 min on Sat night). The hot pots are tasty and affordable and service is always friendly. I'm not a big fan of hot pots but I can settle for this. If it weren't for the rude service, I would've given 5 stars, since the food and portion sizes were great. We came in with a group of 10 where we asked if we could get separate tables from the 3 monks we were treating that day, because in our religion, monks are to be sat separately from others during meals. However, the waitress informed us it wasn't possible and we needed to share tables. Keep in mind, we came right when they opened with no line before or after us and there were at least 10 other open tables in the restaurant. We ended up asking another waitress if we could split off to another 2 seater so that the monks may be seated at their own table and that waitress told us it was fine. Only 2 of the waitress were absolutely rude to all of us, from taking our orders with attitude, to serving our drinks and food by slamming them onto our table. Having a pot of hot soup slammed down in front of you is not pleasant. Fortunately, none of us received bad burns. If it weren't for the other 2 servers, who were absolutely kind and provided great service, I would've given this place 1 star. This is a rare bad experience for us and threw us off. It's peak summer in San Gabriel, California and it was 90 degrees outside. My friend and I first arrived and first instinct was to open the door and wait to be seated, but the lady told us to go outside and out our names in the tablet. First of all, there were multiple empty tables, so my initial reaction was, why have us wait outside. We were a party of 4 and 2 of our friends were still on the way. Anyway, we waited outside for about 10 minutes. Then, I couldn't stand the heat anymore and asked if we could wait inside. The lady said since our whole party wasn't here yet, we had to still wait outside. Ok I understand, that restaurants do that, but it was not crowded at allá en mind you there were empty tables!! Anyway, we waited outside again and we really couldn't stand the heat, so I asked again and she came out and just said she could take our order from there. We said no because we didn't know what the whole party wanted. So, overall I was a little upset, but I brushed over it and eventually our friends came and we got seated. But, this is where the service gets worse. Man, this lady really got an attitude. My friend had a deal with an appetizer and a free drink. Boiling point also does this deal where you get either a free green tea or winter melon tea from the hours of 11 AM-3 PM. However, my friend asked if a Diet Coke could've been an option instead, since her deal covers a free drink. The lady was very stern and said 'no' she can't get a Diet Coke. So, she ended up getting a green tea although she didn't want it anyway. After this, we looked at the menu and my friend pointed out that the coke was even cheaper than the green tea so we didn't understand why she was so hesitant on giving us a coke. Okay, food and drinks come out, and a Diet Coke and a green tea is on the table. Clearly, there was a misunderstanding and my friend thought she was charged an extra Coke, so we told the other server that we didn't want it. We gave it back to the other server. Finally, flash forward to check out. The lady charges the Diet Coke, but we said we didn't end up drinking it because we gave it back. Then, she proceeds to tell us that the deal ACTUALLY covers it. SO, basically we could've gotten the Diet Coke for free the WHOLE TIME. She realized she was wrong and we called her out on it, then she gave us attitude, and was visibly upset. She then asked "so what drink do you want then," and we asked for the coke back since it was covered. Overall, long story short, she made things more complicated than it actually was, and was rude for no reason. The food was mid, but the service made things worse. Though they have moved locations, BP seems to struggle with fully staffing their restaurant. Every time we are here, there are three employees running around the whole place to fulfill everyone's orders and requests. It honestly For the year of 2024, it seems they have done AYCE rice, more meat and free drinks. I think they definitely deliver on the amount of meat and free drinks! If anything, the food is the only reason why we ever go back. I wouldn't expect any sort of excellent service. Make sure to look at your receipt, because they still charged my boyfriend an extra bowl of rice. Since it was so busy, he eventually had to walk up to them after trying to get their attention. When he told them he wanted to pay, the worker wanted to just take his card without giving him the receipt. He asked for one but by that time, she charged him the extra bowl of rice. He pointed it out to her, and she kind of had a moment of realization before agreeing. The birthday thing is kinda confusing: Some places say it's a free small soup and drink (no toppings). Some others say it's a $10 voucher. Some say it's both of these things. Need to comment this restaurant with bad service: Got into this location by the late afternoon for dinner. -No one approached after we got the seats. Even we tried to ask for menu and no body care us. Then we did find out there is a QR code hanging under the table to scan for seeing the menu. After we made the decision to order, we handed up 3 times into notice and the waitress (the guy with face mask and thrick frame glasses) ignored us completely. Finally he got notice when we handed up the 4th time. -We did order a non-spicy House Special pot. However, they gave us a medium spicy one. We asked them to change it to non-spicy soup only and no need to change the whole pot. -They put the bill on the table while we were still eating. They don't even ask our dining experience and just rush us likes that, how come? -The worst thing was that the same waitress put my credit card and the bill on the part, which was still oily and messy, of the table. Hello? Is it making any senses to do it as your service parts? It's been a long time since my first try BP in Monterey Park. How come their service dropped likes that? I love BP but this location is not that good. Waited in line for 20 minutes before dinner rush (5:30pm on friday night) even when there were 5 open tables inside and they only had 11 tables total. Finally seated but the chairs were filthy from previous party. It seems that the waiter only wiped the table. The sauce jars on the table were mostly empty, so i went to another open table to switch them myself. (I saw the other open tables and they were also mostly empty!) Also the sauce lids and spoons were so filthy!! Took a while to get someone down to order. Took a while for someone to give us water. Took a while to get our food. Took a while to get the check. Took a while for them to take our payment. I think it is because they are understaffed. Only saw one guy taking orders and cleaning tables. One girl was there mostly handling drinks. One other guy brings out the hot pots. Doesnt make sense to me with so little staff bc that means slower customer turnover rate = less profits. They definitely need to hire more staff for this place. I wrote a review for the one in Monterey Park. It was a pretty bad one based on the service, the food and the waiting times, but here is my review for San Gabriel. Unfortunately, I have to give it a one star I like I said before I really like this place and I've been going to different Boiling Point locations for the past couple years but overall the experience has just gone downhill over the years. 1. Probably the most important thing that ruins the experience is the service. The workers are pretty rude. They like to rush you, a waiter in this store almost seemed angry to serve us, and at the end when we were trying to pay, he yelled at me and my friend. 2. Like the last four times that I went to the Boiling Point there was something always missing in my soup, especially the egg that's my favorite part And the presentation of the food is really bad they just throw everything in there. They don't even make it look nice anymore. 3. Wait times are horrible at this specific store we waited almost an hour to be seated and there were empty tables inside. When we sit down, it takes them another almost 30 minutes to actually come take your order, and it's almost impossible to get their attention if you need a drink or wanna order something else or something or even if you need a napkin. Sad to say that I probably won't be going to the Boiling Point anymore since the last few experience have all been bad even at these different locations . read more

We ordered food for pick-up, 2 milk curry hot pots and a honey milk green tea. I asked for no vermicelli because I can't have rice. I get there at the time to pick-up, and they messed up something. So I waited another 15 minutes to pick up the food, which I was fine with. I get the food and we take it home. I have vermicelli in my hot pot that I had to fish out, and there's so much curry seasoning in my husband's hot pot that he literally found a big chunk of seasoning paste bunched in his noodles. He couldn't eat all of it and was in the restroom for a while after. I highly recommend going to a different location. The one in Monterey Park has never done us wrong. read more

Wait wasnt too bad for a party of 4 (only 20 minute or so on a Sunday evening). Service wasn't anything spectacular but the food made up for it. My biggest drawback was the fact that it being summer and also next to a bunch of fires, I sweated a lot lot. Definitely more of a problem for me but a fan or some more ventilation would've been nicer. I sweated more in the 30 minutes I was there than working next to grills and fryers for 8 hours. First parking was really easy just on the side of the building and you just check in before going in onto an iPad we waited about 40 mins to get seated which is fine it was busy. But once we got in it was dead like it looked like everyone got there soups and there wasn't any new people. Server came in like he's in a rush asked us what we wanted (even though we never been here and he didn't ask) but we looked at the menu while we waited. He took our order within ten seconds didn't even offer us water so we had nothing to drink.
