My husband and I went to Bon Appetit for brunch and it was AMAZING! Stuff was so kind, attentive, and the ambiance was so cozy and cute. Definitely a HUGE upgrade from the last establishment that was there. We're already planning a day for us to go back for dinner and brunch again! Overpriced, understaffed, average food. Came for brunch for the 2nd time. Our 1st time was a few weeks ago and we left after waiting 10min to be greeted + another 10min to order a drink, when we were then told there was no bartender in the restaurant and no one on staff that could make any cocktails. Our waitress said my husband could go behind the bar and make a bloody mary himself.... We thought maybe there were some growing pains and tried again this morning. Service was faster (we got our entire meal and left before the people next to us even got their food, they were here awhile before us). I got eggs benedict and a mimosa. Eggs benedict was nothing special, side salad was horrible. The real issue was when the bill came and I noticed my single mimosa was $20. $19 for a glass of French champagne that I didnt request and $1 for the OJ. When I asked the waitress why I was charged for that champagne, considering I didnt ask for it and there are many other sparkling options on the menu for less than $19 a glass, she smugly said "That's just how they do it here. What do you want me to do about it?" I have no problem paying for premium wine/liquor, when I actually ask for it. This felt very sneaky. Came in for dinner and ordered the duck confit flat bread and was extremely disappointed. It did not taste like duck. It was some form of ground meat that tastes like cardboard. Great experience for a birthday Cele. Enjoyed the food with two very critical women. My GF and her mother. Service was to notch as well. I tried the chicken dish that followed a French recipe. Loved it and I typically never order chicken when dining out. My GF had the same and she commented same about never trying chicken dishes out. I highly recommend you try this place. Excellent service and food. Came for brunch around 11:00 on Easter and it was lovely. We ate out on the patio which is mostly shaded. Enjoyed the omelette special (had Spanish sausage and a delightful hollandaise sauce), quiche Loraine, crab Benedict (amazing) and crepes filled with banana and Nutella. Also tried the mimosas - not a great value but very tasty. Nice owners and great experience overall. read more

We noticed that they opened this week and decided to go and have dinner. First, the interior is beautifully curated for this new restaurant, and the patio was inviting. We ordered dinner and were pleasantly surprised with the menu options and wine selection, with great prices. Our servers and standard of service was exceptional. The food was excellent, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. This will definitely be a favorite for us. I would recommend. Dana Point is lucky to have this new gem! read more

I'm really bummed about this place. I've been here multiple times, and the experience has been inconsistent. I've had amazing servers, but I've also had visits that were disappointing. The first time I ordered the French toast, I thought it was incredible, and that's what made me want to come back. But on my next visit, it tasted completely different. It was dry, and instead of fresh whipped cream, it seemed like it had Cool Whip on top. Another time it came with their homemade banana cream, and another time it was served with just syrup and butter. It honestly felt like I was ordering a different dish every time. As someone who lives locally, I love supporting restaurants I can count on. When I find something I really enjoy, I want to know it'll be just as good the next time I order it, but unfortunately this place hasn't been consistent in my experience. I also ordered the matcha and specifically asked if it was high quality because I didn't want to waste my money on something I wouldn't enjoy. The server assured me it was "super high quality" and said people rave about it, but after trying it, I have to disagree. If you're someone who enjoys high-quality matcha, this wasn't it. I really wanted to love this place because it seemed like they cared about serving high-quality food and drinks, which is why this was so disappointing. I left feeling like I wasted my money expecting the same quality I experienced on my first visit. My biggest suggestion would be to focus on consistency: please keep the French toast moist, use real freshly whipped cream instead of a whipped topping, and serve it the same way every time. A great dish should be something customers can come back for knowing it'll taste just as good as the last time. read more

I was excited to try this place out when I heard it opened but I wouldn't bother going since they are operating on a "skeleton crew". There is only one person handling the entire bar, one person answering the phone, seating people, and making drinks all during peak hours. Management has clearly decided that saving on labor costs is more important than workplace functionality. I saw the teenager at the front being yelled at by customers because they were sat right away. While being yelled at there was no manger to step in and de-escalate the situation. The staff are exhausted, unsupported, and used as human shields for management's poor decisions. Unless you enjoy watching people have mentalbreak downs over a side of ketchup, spend your money else where. read more

I've now gone twice, and the food has been stellar both times. In particular, tonight they had an ahi tuna special with wasabi mashed potatoes that was sooo good. If they had it on their regular menu, I'd come back for that alone. The service was also quite good both days despite the place being very busy. Oh gosh - I wish I could've taken a picture of what I was served. I'm not trying to be mean, but ownership should be embarrassed by the quality of food that left their kitchen. I ordered the mushroom toast and literally received a dry piece of toast (not even butter) with overcooked scrambled eggs and a few pieces of dry overcooked shriveled up mushrooms. I'm blown away that anyone would serve that and charge $20, and then they completely forgot my side sausage, might as well have skipped it after I reminded them and it took another 15 mins for a side sausage it was literally a sliced up hot dog, I'm baffled. This was like astonishingly bad food. I asked for some hollandaise to try and make the toast not so dry and all I could get was a side of vinaigrette? Not sure why that was... of 3 people I asked literally no one knew what hollandaise was. I'm sad... I miss Maison also server noticed I didn't eat and didnt even say anything. They need to hire a new chef, relook at their menu, and watch ticket times and be there to watch everything go out their window to fix quality here read more

Dinner and service tonight was first class. Shared clams, beef bourguignon, poulet roulette, and a grand marnier souffle; all were perfectly prepared and flavor was amazing. Not seated until 7:45 for a 7pm reservation. Nice staff and good food but there was much sitting and waiting at our table even after we were seated. I had to ask someone to tell our waiter we were ready to order, our drinks took forever to arrive, had to ask for the check, etc. They can do better. read more

Just incredible! Seeing that everyone is quick to serve and with great hospitality. The owner or manager working with their associates harmonically and being on his feet the whole time is most likely the reason for the place having such good feedback and providing memorable experiences. This place is PERFECT! You feel like you are in Europe, the food is SO good and gourmet, the wine list is incredible and reasonably priced, the service is fine dining good, and the owners are salt of the earth. The owners are very active in the restaurant greeting everyone. The bakery up front is busy and smells amazing. This is my new favorite restaurant and I highly recommend you go!
