Food "was" delicious. Pricey, but you're at the Waldorf Astoria... Then I get home. And I had projectile (redacted) all evening from the time I got home, until about 11pm. I couldn't even hold down water. I was so dehydrated, I would chuck water + liquid IV, and 30 minutes later, I would be praying to the porcelain god. In all my years of life, I don't think this has ever happened (minus infant-hood) I abruptly woke up by (redacted) myself in bed. TMI, I know, but I just need to get across the severity of this stomach bug. The only other thing I ate this day was a bag of sour cream and onion chips my friend got on the course with his hotdog. So that leaves this. I know this is not common here, but I had to be honest with my experience. Other people got burgers and they were fine, so it's hard to pinpoint what exactly it was. I did have a side of Mayo. So maybe? It's now Monday night and my fever has dropped from 101.8 to 99.1. Overall it's hard to say I would ever come back considering the price to food... But they did have a nice view!

What made the situation more concerning was that our party included a pregnant mother and young children, who by any standard needed a little extra attention and comfort in that heat. Our waiter was very polite and attentive, but one of the plates was forgotten and arrived about 20 minutes after everyone else had been served. We then ordered pancakes after meals, which took another 40 minutes to arrive after checking on them twice!!! By that time, everyone was extremely hot and uncomfortable, and we couldn't even stay to enjoy them--which was the main reason we had to come here. Unfortunately, no apology was offered for the mess up, delays or the uncomfortable seating situation. We sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously. We still like this restaurant and have recommended it for years, but this visit fell far below our expectations. Better accommodations during extreme summer heat and more timely food service would have made a big difference.

Five stars. No nonsense. Let's get into it. I walked into Bon Appétit and immediately thought finally, a place that actually cares about what they're putting on the plate. Clean, bright, effortless. Not trying too hard, just confident. I ordered the eggs Benedict and a mimosa, and my friend got the avocado toast with a lavender coffee. My eggs Benedict was a stunner. Poached eggs cooked perfectly, yolks flowing exactly how they should. The smoked salmon was fresh and silky, not stingy either. And that hollandaise? Rich, buttery, smooth, and balanced. Not broken, not heavy. Properly done. Whoever made that sauce knows what they're doing. The potatoes on the side were just as impressive. Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, seasoned like someone actually tasted them before serving. My friend's avocado toast looked just as good. Thick, creamy avocado, topped with soft scrambled eggs that actually looked soft, not dried out. Fresh greens on top, everything bright and well put together. Simple, but done right. My mimosa was fresh and balanced, not watered down nonsense. And my friend's lavender coffee was surprisingly good. Lightly floral, smooth, not overpowering. Easy to mess up, but they nailed it. Everything looked clean and intentional. Nothing sloppy, nothing rushed. You can tell there's pride in the kitchen. Service was relaxed but efficient. No long waits, no pressure to leave. It is located in the beautiful historic town of San Juan Capistrano founded in 1776. The two-story red brick and wood building that the Restaurant occupy was constructed in 1883 and served not only as the town's courthouse which was Then presided by Judge Richard Egan. But it also served as Judge Egan's private residence on the second floor. Following years of vacancy, this building has undergone near total interior and exterior restoration, preserving its 1880s structure while converting it for commercial use. It is known as "Egan House". Years ago, prior to its restoration, i had the privilege of walking onto the front porch and peeking through the windows of this old courthouse as it was still vacant and, in its original interior state. Today. As i walked up these wooden stairs once again and onto the front Porch, i was immediately transported back in time. There is lots of free parking around the restaurant. The exterior has 2 outdoor dining areas. One on the side of the building and one along the narrow front porch baluster. The doors and tall windows look very similar. So i almost missed the front door if it wasn't for a printed sign that said "Entrance" next to the entry door. I must not be the only one :) The interior is charming and bright, and maintains its 19th century vintage character blended with modern and vintage decor. The walls are covered with Historical photographs. The indoor dining area is known as "Harmony Hall" There is also a small private dining area on the second floor. Great for a group or a celebration. There are 3 separate restrooms. 1 on the first floor and 2 on the 2nd floor. Not bad for an old building. You order first. Grab your number and find a table. As you stand in line, you'll find a free standing menu rack. I don't see this too often and i think that it's a great idea as that gives you time to look at the menu while waiting in line. As you make your way to the register, you walk along their display case that showcases all the pastries, cold sandwiches and food bar. I really like their menu. So many good dishes. And It offers something for everyone. I love that you can order any of the menu items all day. So, today, I had my breakfast at 2pm :) The menu is too long to describe. So, Please see photos for the complete 6 page menu. I ordered the Spanish Omelette, a peach ice tea with green tea. And for dessert i had a mixed berry crostata. I got my food in less than 10 min. The service was great. I did not realize that there was a self serve utensil and condiments station. So, my server was kind to get me some utensil and showed me where the utensil station was. The Spanish omelette has shredded machaca beef, peppers and onions. Topped with House Salsa, Cotija cheese, Crema and cilantro. I opted to leave out the Crema as i am not a big fan of sour cream. This was one of the best omelettes i have ever had. It was warm. The eggs were light and airy. It was packed with tender and tasty shredded beef. All of these ingredients combined with the delicious mild salsa, fresh cilantro and Cotija cheese paired incredibly well. It is a must have. The Mixed berry crostata had a soft crust on the outside. Moist on the inside with tons of berries partly melted into a marmelade. (I had them warm it up) It was not overly sweet at all which was great. The whole thing was lightly coated with powdered sugar. It was excellent. As for the Peach ice tea. Well it was just a good peach ice tea with green tea and light peach flavored syrup. It was refreshing. Great food. Generous portions. very reasonable prices and great service. Can't beat it. I highly recommend trying Ellie's Table.

I had the Ecology Center Chpp Salad and LOVED it! It's hard to find fresh, great-tasting salads, and this one was awesome! And not too expensive! My husband had the Newporter wrap, a vegan wrap loaded with grilled mushrooms and other veggies. He loved this too! In fact, we loved our items so much we went back again today. This time I got the Yosemite salad, which was also fresh and good. My preference is the Ecology salad, however. My hubby got the Newporter again. The vibe is also lovely with what I'm going to call a "Northern California Redwood Cabin Retreat" style. It just reminded me of vacations in Lake Tahoe I went on as a kiddo or a cafe you'd find near Muir Woods. Right now they don't have a bathroom, but we were informed that they will be moving to a new location a few doors down with a bathroom soon. We can't wait! We have yet to sample their delicious looking goodies like the Pecan White Chocolate Cookies.

As I stood at the counter I watched as my ticket was pushed aside for eat in customers. Customers that came in after me and were now getting served. I ordered 2 burritos, a chicken bowl and a carrot cake. What I got was a chicken bowl with white rice. The menu said BROWN. We received a brown bag with a handwritten note " Sorry we are out of carrot cake so here is Pumpkin cake or roll". I was staning there for 30 mins. WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST ASK ME. I don't like pumpkin. So I called Sunday and no manager there. I was asked leave a message and told I would get a call back which I did. Sunday and Monday no one called back. Tues I called again no manager. Left another message, and now its Tuesday night no one bothered to call me back. I don't like paying for food I can't eat. Pumpkin and white rice. Not the best customer service!!!!

While taking our order, the gentleman at the counter never once looked me in the eye. Instead, he kept staring and smiling off into the distance at something outside, even though there didn't seem to be anything there. It made the entire interaction feel very strange and awkward for all of us. To make matters worse, the drinks we ordered, which were very simple, were all disappointing. It's frustrating because this used to be a place I came to regularly and genuinely enjoyed. Unfortunately, after this experience, I don't plan on coming back and wouldn't recommend it to others anymore.
