One of my close friends told me about Bon Galbi, and I was so excited to try it out! The place was nice and clean and the service was good as well. Overall, the food was great, too. We got BTS stew, Premium Sea Salt Pork Belly, Spicy Galbi Jjim, and Dolsot Kimchi Cheese Bibimbop. The portion size Spicy Galbi Jjim was enough for about 3 to 4 people! The meat was tender and flavorful. However, it was too sweet for my grandparents. The pork belly was also great, it was crispy on the outside and juicy inside! The only complain I have is that they charge for the side dishes or the banchans. I understand that people often don't finish the side dishes and they can be wasteful. However, I have never been to a Korean restaurant that charges for the banchan individually. read more

From the grill I ordered bongalbi (grilled marinated beef short rib) I really loved the flavor and the texture of the meat. I had a small bowl of rice and a side of kimchi too. definitely try it out! I went with some family and they wanted to try the hotpot and the one they chose was the bulgogi hotpot. it was good, I am not a big soup fan so I personally wouldn't choose this if it was just for me but it wasn't bad at all. Wow. It was our first time here. Everything was amazing! We had the Spicy Beef Hot Pot, Soft Tofu, Korean Short Rib, Glass Noodles, Galbi Jjim, and Fish Cake/Seaweed + Kimchi. The Galbi Jjim was so delicious, very flavorful, and such a large portion size. It was well more than what we even paid for if you ask me. I will definitely come back here. This place is really great. The flavor is there and not too salty or too bland. The portion is not small so you will be getting your money's worth. The service was great and our food came out really fast. This establishment is a bit small but we never had any issues with wait times. They charge $1 for fresh kimchi and it is worth it. Most Korean spots offer kimchi as part of the banchan, but at this place, i will definitely pay for it because it's really good kimchi. I forgot to ask them how they make their kimchi so good. We brought a small bottle of sake to share and celebrate during dinner. We got charged the CORKAGE fee TWICE!!. I live about 40 minutes away with no traffic and I make it a point to eat here every weekend if I am able. The Tteok-galbi is awesome but super hot when it comes out so be sure to cut it. The bulgogi is sweet but savory and it's my moms go to when she can't decide quickly. The BTS stew has been a favorite for the past 5 times I have gone. We always get a side of kimchi, it's so refreshing and has a slight sweetness. The pear juice is my go to drink every time I'm there and I'm talking EVERYTIME. You can get adult drinks next door at the liquor store and BYOB to Bon Galbi. This has been my mom's favorite thing to do with strawberry soju. Just not on Sunday. Try the Korean Pork ribs they are so yummy you can't stop eating them. The Dolsot kimchi cheese bibimbob is delicious and perfect with the fried egg on the top. read more

literally my favorite korean restaurant in katy/houston. if its your first time, order the spicy galbi jjim. itll feed 3-4 people. im surprised i havent reviewed this place yet but i make the 40 minute drive just for this. every single person ive told about this place came back to me and said WOW. one bad thing is, they do charge for their side dishes (banchan) now which is a bummer. not sure what type of korean restaurant would resort to that. they are CLOSED on tuesdays. sometimes they close early because "no ingredients." its a young restaurant so i get it. so make sure you call to see if they're open because sometimes its a gamble. read more

Been here twice and very pleased with the consistency. The restaurant is spacious and clean. Decor is standard but still has that kbbq vibes. Not a huge turn down for us. Not a fan of their hotpot or bibimbap. I've had army hotpot on my first visit, dolsot cheese bibimbap on my second and neither of them wowed me. Service was good. Staff is nice and friendly, came check on us several times. I absolutely love their meat!! I've had bulgogi, spicy pork belly and bon galbi and I was impressed with all of them. Bulgogi is not too sweet like other kbbq places I've eaten. Their bulgogi is seasoned with a right amount of seasoning, not too overly done. Spicy pork belly is mouthwatering to look at!! Very sexy and welcoming lol. Love the texture, a little crunchy on the outside. There's some bean paste on the side of the dish if you wanna have a little dip with your pork belly too. But for me, the paste adds more salty flavor to the already perfectly season pork belly so I wouldn't go there personally. The star of the show would be Bon Galbi. The dish is really good. I was expecting a juicy, a little burnt, flavorful bite and that's exactly what I had! None of the meat dish was dry at all. A little cons here is that normally you would get banchan for free but that's not the case at this restaurant. You have to purchase it. We ordered kimchi for $1 which was a bummer. So overall, I would recommend this establishment and come back for more delish kbbq :P read more

The best korean food in Katy is finally here. We tried Galbi tang, beef stew, which was amazing. It comes with 4 side dishes. While I have tried most of the korean restaurants in Houston, Bongalbi is my nunber one now. The customer service was phenomenal! The servers were very kind and caring. Usually the restaurants has an opportunity cost of losing one factor, quality or quantity, Bongalbi got both of them. We decided to try out their most popular items. The Gamja Tang, Squid Scallion Pancake, and LA Galbi. The squid ink pancakes was amazingly delicious. Crispy on the outside, soft and buttery on the inside. Good amount of squid too- must order if you visit. The LA Galbi is so so good- a hefty portion, very flavorful and tender. The Gamja Tang is comfort food in a bowl. Nice rich bone broth- not as spicy as I would like, but overall very good. The staff was very attentive and efficient. I had a party of 12 which included 2 kids. There was 3 tables of 4 people that I saw available near the kitchen. We were told we had to wait since there was a party of 6 ahead of us. I was also told by staff that we couldn't not combine tables since we would be blocking the kitchen if we sat there. However we got sat almost 5 minutes after and we got sat at the 3 tables of 4 which was fine. These tables blocked the kitchen's pathway even when we were sat. I guess it was just easier to serve all of us like this? My table order the bon galbi which was great. The soup was super flavorful and the meat was easy to eat and chew. It was practically falling out the bone. We also ordered the seafood pancake. It was crispy and had shrimp and octopus in it I believe. My table also splurged on getting kimchi and fish cake since it wasn't free. But it was worth it because it was good. Overall the food was great but the service wasn't. This is the second time I've been here, I know for sure the bts soup is delicious however I'm not a fan of the meats especially the spam. My hubby got the Dolsot kimchi cheese bibimbob and it was really good and cheesy. I got the Korean short rib and it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. Sad cause I really wanted the Bon Galbi but since they updated the menu they don't have grilled short ribs so it is what it is. And normally when you go to Korean places they give you little side dishes, they don't here you have to order them, the fish cakes were not bad. read more

More like Bon GalBYE. I won't be coming back here anymore. I first went to this place when it opened. The food was great. Side dishes was very nice, unique and FREE. The menu was bigger and some of the dishes like Gojujang Stew was very delicious. Came back 3 times. I went again last night. Tbh I was disappointed and shocked. The menu completely changed. Now they charge for sides, from $1-$1.5 each, which is insane. BYOB used to be free, now it's $5 per person. Menu no longer has any pork stews. If you paid $30+ for a hot pot, you have to pay more for sides. NO THANK YOU. I'm sure the owner will see the dip in revenue and guests to this restaurant. One more thing, this place either always running out of ingredients or the kitchen closes at extremely early time before closing. read more

Food is good but many of the best menu items have been removed such as the pork belly and the cheesy pork ribs. We used to drive from west Houston for this place, but not often anymore. If the owner is smart, they will reinstate those menu items. Not really worth the drive with such a limited menu. Service seems to have dropped off along with the menu items. There are new restaurants popping up in China town so probably better to spend $$$ there. read more

I've been here few times and it's worth the drive even if you live far (35min for me). I recommend gamjatang and galbitang (the meat is a little chewy compared to gamjatang). They give plenty of meat for $ in your soup. Ask for less sugar in food as they have tendency to make everything sugary. read more

It comes together but this restaurant, you have to order separately such as Kimchi, Fish cake and of course no refills.....A little disappointed and I wont come back until they have a change. If you are Korean food lover. You might think that they need to change.... My parents were curious about Korean Kimchi and Repseed Flower so we had 2 of that with the cost ( $1-$1.5/ ea.). Let's talk about the BANCHAN that made me confused that day. Even though at first I feel a little bit weird because I get used to with Korean restaurant serve food with Banchan. But after all in my opinion I feel this is the great way that customers who do not really want to eat the side dishes not waste the food on the table. For me, I don't really like to eat too much side dishes before the main food. It's make me feel like I only have small room left for my main meal. Sometime I try to finished the side dishes before the main food because I don't want to waste the free food they give away but then I admit that I feel totally not that interesting to wait to eat the main food anymore. That is the reason why people said the more you feel hungry the more you feel happy when you got the food. This is a unique way that this restaurant lets me experience. As a people only focus on main food like me, I do not really need the side dishes. Second, they charge 1 or 1 half bucks for the side dishes. It's pretty worthy, the portion more than before. And you can order when you really want instead of it coming before the main food. Believe me, you will not have room to enjoy your main food if you only focus on the side dishes. All in all, after 2 months, the menu is changed, the foods are still tasty and the servers are friendly. Cannot wait to dine in again. read more

This used to be the best Korean Restaurant that we have been to. Their GalbiTang is good and their squid pancake is very good as well. It was one of the higher priced Korean places. However, the last time we came, they started to charge for the Banchan(side dishes). Their menu items are already expensive and so I thought it accounted for the Ban Chan already. It seems like they raised the price and still make you pay for the sides with no refill. Or each time you ask for more, they will charge you the extra $1 to $1.5 depending on which Ban Chan it is. I am not sure if I would come back due to the Nickel and diming of their patrons. read more
