First time at BonChon and its alright. It's a pretty small store for the chain concept and possibly great for those looking to experiment with Korean food if they haven't tried it before to get a taste but too afraid to go all in at a Korean restaurant. We tried a variety of things and my favorite was the wings (half and half) and the takoyaki (octopus balls). We tried other things such as the pork buns and korean tacos. The pork buns pork belly was very thin and that was disappointing compared to the photo on the menu. Imagine the width and length of a pinky finger. Yup. Then, we chose bulgolgi for the Korean Taco which was easy to eat and okay. The Takoyaki was crispy on the outside but still soft and warm on inside. Lastly, the wings. I thought the size was great. It's not too big or small for what I consider normal. I thought it was crispy and crunchy enough but not too hard. We got the half and half which is the spicy and soy. Overall, its a okay choice for a casual lunch or dinner. It isn't cheap either though but upscale casual food if you can say that. read more

This place is kind of interesting and I'm not sure if my review is going to align with some of the older reviews that I've seen about this place. This restaurant is really tucked away in an interesting area of Orlando. But when you go inside, it looks upscale and clean. I was not expecting to see a bar. There are a LOT of options on the menu. I tried the fried chicken and I got mine fresh and it was nothing short of delicious. I also got a Bibimbap and it was ok. The most important part of my review is that this kind of food is not optimized for delivery. It's optimized to sit at their establishment. Those of you who order delivery should understand that this food is best when it's right from the kitchen and not in a container that's not opened for about an hour or more. read more

I happen to really enjoy Bonchon ... at other locations. This location is definitely not the same chicken I have had in the other locations up in the northeast. Prices are the same though! The Bonchon drumsticks, which are known to be incredibly large, were regular sized wing drums here but still commanding the $24.95 for 10 drums, crazy. They were flavorful but nothing special. The bibimbap was served in a stone bowl that was way too hot -- it still evaporated water away after 40 minutes. The rice was charred beyond being edible. Will not return. read more

It sucks when you keep raving about restaurants to all your friends, family, coworkers and strangers ONLY to finally open one somewhat close (2 hour drive) to you and it is not at all what you expected. It DID just open- so I know they have to 'work out their kinks' but when their kinks are the actual CHICKEN itself...wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh We got there around 4pm and there was about 8 staff members. We placed our order and then waited a bit for our drinks... as we watched the staff stand by the bar in a firing squad formation just chick chatting back and forth. We got our (play musicial harp music) Chicken. We looked at it and were kind of like where is the meat on the chicken... they're kind of small. Then I saw my beloved radish dish on the side and it was completely soaked in water and lost all the flavor. We bit into the chicken that WE KNOW is friend 2xs durh which is why the chicken is supposed to be soo unique and ... it was overcooked. They have a lot to learn about making the chicken properly. I hope they get their act together so that we can come back and I can put up an updated review! PLEASE fix this beloved chicken! Just wanted to mention first of all, I am from Texas so the Korean cuisine is definitely better than Orlando, so I am a bit biased..... Second of all, they are a chain.... First plate was the tteokbokki... My daughter loves this dish, but I thought it was okay. I prefer the sweeter tteokbokki, but if you prefer the more savory flavors than this is your dish. Not much of a fan of the cheese.... We also ordered the calamari and onion rings for my son. Not bad... but just your typical fried foods. For the wings, we ordered both soy garlic and spicy. The soy garlic was delish, however, I couldn't eat more than two. I was sick of the flavor already. Hubs beg to differ. He loved it. As for the spicy... holy moly... I love spicy but my lips were burning after one! I think I would've enjoyed the wings if both flavors were mixed together. My fave dish was actually the japchae... quite flavorful, however the price is quite steep for such a small bowl. I went here for lunch, ordered the fried chicken and the octopus balls and fries. The place was clean, nice employees and well decorated. Fries were good at first then got salty, the chicken was pretty good and the octopus balls seemed burnt and not as good as I have had the in other places. I tried the shrimp shumai and it tasted like regular frozen ones u get anywhere and I had one dish I can't put the name of it but it didn't look like the picture it should of been saucy but it was dry.. flavor was good but the lack of sauces just didn't help. I thought Popeyes was the best but I was definitely missing Bonchon in my life. I ordered the combo with 9 pieces. I guess they ran out of wings, bc i had 6 drummetes and 3 wings. The drums are definitely more expensive here. The wings are a bit pricey but oh so good. I like the spicy and garlic flavored wings the same. It comes with this white radish that is sweet and dipped in vinegar. It went perfectly with the wings and super crunchy. I also ordered the japchae. It came with beef, onions, and peppers mixed together. The noodles were not overly seasoned and I thought complemented the wings great. $12.95 was a high price point since the noodles only served one. The bimpbap with tofu was ok. The rice was a little hard and needed more water. The presentation was nice and it was definitely a hot pot. If they had happy hours here, the place would be packed. I read many reviews where people complained of wait times and service. I went early in the morning and had no issues. The wait staff was friendly and very attentive. I came here during lunch since we were in the area and it was really good! They have a good lunch special of 8 wings for $8.95 (half spicy and half sweet crunch). Both types were really flavorful with awesome crunch to the wings! The spicy had a light great kick to them but weren't too hot in my opinion (I like spicy though lol). We also ordered a side of slaw and the bulgogi fried rice. Both were delicious! If you don't like super mayo-y slaw, be cautious bc it's heavy on the mayo but it cuts through the spice and compliments the wings really well! Overall the food was really good! TL;DR - The chicken is great (but pricey), the staff are uninformed, "corporate" is stingy with the sauce, and the fries are Kim Jong Un's real secret weapon. We tempered our expectations based on other reviews, so we knew they would likely be busy with few staff. Our experience was quite the opposite: Few customers and an excessive number of staff. They're learning. The chicken comes in strips, wings, and drums. I don't like to assume anything, so I asked if the drums were legs, or the drum portion of the wing. Our server had to ask another server, who herself wasn't so sure. One look at the meal on the table next to us gave us our answer. It's the leg. We really enjoyed the soy garlic wings and legs. The meat could use a little salt, but otherwise wonderful. The legs could have used more sauce. I overheard our server tell the table next to us that they "aren't allowed to give extra sauce." Corporate only gave them enough sauce for the chicken they have on hand. Whatever, man. That's not a good business practice. I'm skeptical. The only real disappointment was the fries. WHAT THE HECK? They look wonderful, but taste like nothing. It's like someone figured out how to deep-fry air. I asked for salt, and after some searching, our server-savant brought back a small cup of rock salt from the bar (presumably for margaritas). Apparently he doesn't know that rock salt won't stick. My husband kept raving about Bonchon since he had it in NYC. I didn't want to be disappointed, so I wasn't expecting much. They finally opened one in Orlando and we were super excited because I love me some good chicken wings!!! We came during soft opening (which is still in play) and heard the grand opening is September 18th. We ordered the chicken, kimchi and Salmon Avocado Ball. The chicken crunch was WONDERFUL and it tasted so juicy!!! YUM YUM YUM! I love me some chicken wings. The kimchi was a little salty. The salmon avocado ball was so yummy, I would have liked it to be hotter even though the outside was torched. The service was a little slow the first 2 times we'd been. I really had a lot of fun and good food here. I don't have a strong background in Korean food, but have some friends of a mixed Korean heritage and have been exposed more to it. We decided to go after catching a movie across the street. It was very tasty and our server was on top of things. I had always heard that Bonchon was a crazy lively place to go and I was a bit sad this place was really subdued. We all tried several things and that obviously included their famous wings. They were pretty good. I had their potstickers and pork bao buns, as well. They now have a location out by me in Waterford Lakes, so I'll gladly visit one of the two locations again. Very clean restaurant. Our server was very polite and attentive. This was my first time dining at Bonchon restaurant the dining area is too cold. They have to monitor the temperature in the seating area. The food is not bad but could be better. The best thing I ate there was the Octupus dumplings. The were extremely delicious. The fried chicken was a let down. It was fried well but The seasoning on the chicken came from the coating mix on the chicken but the inside of the chicken had absolutely no flavor. Two days ago my girlfriend and I were running some errands, and on the way home as we were driving we came across this place and decided to stop cause I was hungry and I was craving some chicken. We stopped, I ordered the half & half chicken wings and let me tell you with the crunchiness of the chicken, flavor and spice level from that chicken was amazing, the server was very helpful and very mindful that I got my food at a fast and efficient time, I don't remember the name of the server that took my order but she was nice even came across the manager don't remember her name either , I just suck lol but as I was taking picture of the building as we were walking in she was like "if you leaving a review make sure the review is good lol". This location is in as very popular area with it being right down the street from the airport , great for a quick bite while waiting on your flight to leave out of town, not crowded , quick service and friendly staff, won't disappoint and a lot of space for large parties as well. Been looking for a korean fried chicken place in orlando for 2 years and so happy i got to try this place!! I seriously dont know why korean fried chicken isnt a popular thing here. Chicken was tasty and crispy, just like they should be. We got the combo and half/half sauce, thats the way to go. We visit this spot pretty regularly and I hate to say that the service has really declined. The food is as good as ever but the service....it's lacking. The phone rings constantly and no one answers half the time. This is annoying as the phone rings so loud throughout the entire dining area. 3 out of the last 4 visits we have been quoted over an hour wait time for food when we order. I know this place has had a rocky start since their opening, but that is with any new place. The place is right outside of the airport and sits in a strip with a few other restaurants. I met with my friend which brought her two young kids (age 3 and 5). We decided to order them fries and the popcorn chicken without the sugar coating. Initially the kitchen put the coating on it chicken so they had to remake it which took some time, when the chicken did arrive they were very crispy and cooked. So warning, this isn't ideal for kids as it was too cooked for them. We ended up switching to the chicken strips which were still crispy but not as much. My friend and I ended up ordering the bulgogi tacos and 10 piece wings half and half. The tacos come out with three of them and was on point and I love the lettuce to lighten it up and then spicy mayo to top it off. The chicken is cooked very crispy and then tossed in a coating which we decided half in the soy and the other half spicy. Both very tasty and the spicy definitely has that kick in it. Anyone that can't do a lot of spicy I would suggest sticking to the soy. One suggestion I would make is that since the chicken is so crispy it would be better with a little bit more sauce on it. Our waitress was great and checked in on us multiple times. With the kids not able to eat the popcorn chicken, she was very nice about us switching it out for the chicken strips. So overall it was a good experience with a just a few hiccups. This is the second Bonchon location that I've been to in Orlando. I'm glad to say quality and consistency is just as good. I got the wings and drums combo box along with the seasoned fries. The wings and drums were gloriously crispy. I love the light batter that they use on the outside. It is so crunchy and crispy, but it still does a fantastic job soaking up all of the sauce that the wings are tossed in. The sauce that I got was the sweet and hot sauce and it had great balance. Just the right amount of savory and sweet notes to balance out the spicy flavors. The spice was also at a good level of heat without becoming to overwhelming. The pickled daikon radish that comes with the chicken is the perfect palate cleanser. The tangy radish resets your mouth with a perfect crunch and coolness and prepares you for another bite of delicious chicken. The seasoned fries are a great compliment to the meal. Nicely seasoned with herbs and Parmesan cheese, the salty savory goodness of the fries pairs really well with the chicken. Fantastic! My only real complaint is the amount of time I had to wait for my takeout meal. Online ordering says it will take 30 minutes to complete my order. When I showed up at the designated time, I was told to wait and ended up waiting almost an additional 20 minutes. This is not acceptable. I can understand maybe an additional 5 minute wait. But to have to wait nearly twice as long as the designated time is unacceptable. After waiting over an hour for our food (and watching multiple tables that came after us be served the same wings we ordered), we were rudely told by two members of the wait staff that our order must have been "backed up" by online orders through no fault of their own, and that our food might be ready in another 20 minutes (meaning that by the time you've placed your order, it will still be another hour and 45 minutes before you've eaten). I'd recommend literally any other restaurant in the world- save your time and your money. read more

We have picked up food from Bonchon many times, never again. The chicken strips are now tiny, thin, chewy pieces of chicken that are not good. I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I opened the box of strips. At first glance, I thought they were the fries, they were so small and thin. You know its bad when they aren't identifiable as chicken strips. I called the restaurant and was told they no longer offer "hand cut" chicken strips, "Corporate sends these now". Its not fresh chicken folks, it's frozen, UGH. We ordered zucchini fries, no sauce. We order shrimp dumplings, no sauce. The best thing we had were the donuts, they were delicious. The service was not that great. Our food was served way too late and the appetizer was cold. The server was very nice though. When my mother got her food the rice was very undercooked/ hard. My food was warm but instantly got cold. Along with that my rice was edible but the texture made me believe or assume it was microwaved after letting it sit for a awhile. We didn't plan on coming here so we walked in not knowing anything about this place. As soon as we entered I was already impressed by the interior. Everything on their menu looked delicious but we were a little disappointed that they didn't have any drinks, apart from normal sodas, or desserts. We ordered the Fried Chicken Strips with Soy Garlic, plain Fried Rice, and Bul Dak. Everything was delicious. The strips were very generously portioned, the fried rice was soft and savory, and the Bul Dak was amazing. The prices are a little towards the higher end but it is well worth it. The only thing that makes this review lose a star is the service. We had to ask for utensils since they weren't provided to us even after our food arrived, our water cups were also empty for a while and we had to get the waiter's attention even tho there was only one other party eating at the time. Despite the mixed reviews I figured I would try Bonchon. I am a fan of chicken wings. I got a to go order with some people. I ordered combo wings. 6 wings and 3 drum sticks. The wings were crispy. But very small. I had more in my order than I was supposed to so that was nice. The drumsticks cost over $2 each and when measured are under 3 inches in size. One of my companions ordered a salad. They forgot to give him dressing so he did not enjoy it. The staff at the restaurant seemed pretty frazzled. They gave one customer the wrong to go order. Then they ran out after her to get it back for the correct customer who hadn't arrived yet. The funniest part is they just told that some customer they were having problems with people picking up the wrong order so they made sure to confirm her order on her phone before giving her the wrong food.
