I'm frankly shocked at how awful the service was at this Bonchon location. If you want to feel invisible, this is apparently the place to go. We sat right at the bar, directly in front of the server, and were outright ignored. The server took forever to even look at us, and we had to practically wave her down just to get her attention. When she finally did show up, she only took my friend's order and completely ignored mine. The entire time, she just busied herself with napkins and utensils like we didn't exist. When I finally asked her for her name, she looked startled and said it was "Cindy," though I have serious doubts that was even her real name. It felt like she was just trying to dodge accountability. Bottom line: this was one of the worst service experiences I've ever had. Management needs to get their act together and make sure their staff actually does their job, because this level of neglect is completely unacceptable. read more

Soy Garlic is good too, though a little too salty in my opinion. I usually get the 10 piece no bone Korean fried chicken - it's very filling and can last me 2 meals. They have great radish daikon, and their seasoned fries are really good! The staff are polite and the kitchen staff is pretty fast with orders! I would like it if they returned their yumyan sauce or have different sauces I could try because I crave the spicy flavor only on occasion. I've tried a few of their other dishes that aren't chicken related, and I don't know if id try them again. But for chicken, it's a decently priced casual option with quick service and is delicious fried chicken! There is parking in the lot, and street parking. So flavorful and perfectly crispy. We ordered the chicken fried rice and it was also AMAZING!! The waiter suggested the donuts and WOWWWW. Please don't leave without trying them. Food was 100/10. The place was clean, and they were playing good music. But my favorite part was that they had toys for kids to play. My toddler was able to grab stickers and toys to play at the table which was so refreshing to see. Not a lot of places put in effort for kids and I thought that was such a sweet touch. I ordered the "Mixed" which comes w 2 drumsticks and 4 wings in Soy Garlic and Yangnyeom, and a side of Seasoned Fries. This was a lot of protein, since the drumsticks were huge!! The Soy Garlic was very flavorful and garlicky and the Nangnyeom was sweet and spicy. What stood out the most is that CRUNCH!! I believe Korean fried chicken is typically made of potato starch coating to give it that special crunchy texture even after being tossed in sauce. The inside of the chicken was very juicy as well. Food and beer here is always great. Now service is where it gets spotty. They seem to be somewhat disorganized or just plain understaffed. Water takes a while to come and a few times, no plates until we asked for them. The plastic cups always dripping wet is weird but I can just dry them myself lol. We hadn't been back since a few weeks ago when we left cash on the table including a generous tip for our bill. As I walked out with my wife and kids, the younger Asian girl came yelling after us and almost grabbed my arm before I turned around on the sidewalk. Accusing us of not paying for our food. The fried chicken was really yummy. The meat was very tender and compared to other Korean fried chicken they don't have very thick topcoat. The rice dishes were ok, more like American Korean food. My first bowl, they put the plastic sauce cup in the hot stone bowl and touched to the bowl. The plastic cup was melting. I let the lady know and she made another new one for me. I tried both the spicy and and soy garlic sauces (both yummy, but I enjoyed the garlic sauce a little bit more) The japchae is pretty good! I would order it again! It's a nice side dish. On the contrary, I can't say I loved the buldak... I personally would not order it again but the wings and tenders are incredible The music and crowd was great as well! I've been here quite a few times over the years, and to this day it's still my favorite Korean fried chicken place aroud this area. Prices are decent, it'll be around $20 per person but really depends on how many wings and drumsticks each person can eat, and depends on the size of the drumsticks. Some drumsticks are gigantic while other could be half the size, and this is one of the main reasons I've taken off a star. Another would be the lack of options on the flavors, there is only soy garlic, or spicy. Despite that though, the batter is crispy and very nicely done and the soy garlic is still one of my all time favorites. Each plate of fried chicken you order will come with a side dish of radish or coleslaw. These side dishes aren't worth it to order extra separately. The japchae noodles were perfectly cooked and seasoned just right. Definitely a must-try. The bulgogi fries were a pleasant surprise, so crunchy, and you can tell they use best quality oil. Bonchon's prime was definitely in 2020 when God's Plan and Astroworld just came out. The chicken was bigger and the overall ambiance felt much better. Now, it feels like the hype has died down and Bonchon has become just another spot in the 626. My recent visits have been underwhelming. The last time I dined in, there weren't many people, yet the service and food timing were slow. I'm actually writing this while still waiting for my food that was supposed to be ready by 8:30 PM. I checked in at 8:00 PM, which I know was early, but the guy at the front didn't even let the kitchen know someone was there for pickup. There was no line or crowd, so that was disappointing. At 8:30 PM, someone finally came out to say the kitchen hadn't been informed and they were just starting the order. It was supposed to be ready by then, not just starting. Service is pretty mediocre at times, though I do notice and appreciate the few staff who actually put in extra effort. Overall, this place could really stand out in the 626 if they focused more on improving service and stopped cutting corners with the portion sizes. We love the onion rings but the popcorn chicken was way too sweet. The wasabi dipping sauce was its saving grace. I did like portions and taste of the spicy chicken and garlic soy chicken. But would have preferred to be less sweet and salty and more spicy. I definitely am not a fan of the fried rice, it was too sweet and needed a little more savoriness.
