I feel it's important to share this experience because I don't want this to happen to anyone else. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and I was waiting to try it when I would be able to order the lunch special and see if it's that good, then I'll come back another time with friends for dinner. The company website clearly states that the Schaumberg location has a lunch special Monday thru Friday from 11am-3pm excluding holidays. Ok great, I show up on a Wednesday at 2:20pm and the young man at the front tells me I missed the lunch special. I understand he has no say so I'm the matter so I left and I filled out something in the company website explaining my experience. A few days later I get a call from the manager of the Schaumberg location apologizing and offering me to come back for 40%off anytime and that he would send me a text with his name and information to show the staff for when I decide to try the place out. I thought that was nice but ten minutes later I get a text from him stating 25% off. This is upsetting because it has nothing to do with the percentage off, but it's the fact that as a company,what you say and what you do is contradicting! I feel like I was being treated as someone trying to get free food when all I wanted was the lunch special and to advise the company to update their site if the hours had changed. Not bad , but price could be lower for the quantity of food that you get. We got bulgogi for $16.95 & 10 wings (1/2 soy garlic & 1/2 spicy) for 12.95. The bulgogi could've been bigger for that price like other korean places, some for less than $16. But the food were pretty good. May go again one day or just find other decent priced korean places, which shouldn't be hard to find. read more

Had the worst customer service experience at this location. The order took too long to make and the server didn't seem to care when I asked as to what was taking so long. From ordering it took around 40-45 mins to have my order even when it wasn't even busy. Very indifferent towards patrons. When we got the food the chicken was not even coated properly. I'd called ahead of time to ask if they have or use MSG in any of their food, and I was informed that they do not -- at all! She also said there's not currently a wait, so we thought we'd check it out. We also looked on here to see what most Yelpers suggested getting and were talking about (so thanks everyone for that!). The menu revealed that they not only serve Korean food, but also "Korean Fusion", meaning they also have some Japanese dishes (soups, etc.). But overall, they seem to be best known for their chicken. Pros: +Placement = in a strip mall-like area, so there's lots of parking. +Easy to get to. It's right across from Michael's, behind Trader Joe's. +Clean +NO MSG!!! +Lots of good looking choices on the menu +Friendly staff +Chicken Bulgogi tacos - You can get them as beef, also, but I got the chicken (which only comes spicy though). However, the spicy isn't like "burning your tongue" spicy, but more like "warm mouth" spicy. So if you don't like or can't handle spicy, you won't have a problem with these (and they're SOOO good!). +Coleslaw: I know this sounds odd, but their coleslaw is really good. They also include it on the tacos, which also helps with the heat. +I also got their udon (thick Japanese noodle) soup. It's not a small bowl, but a large, rock bowl, and boiling when they bring it out to you (so you have lots of time to eat your other food before indulging in the soup). +The menu mentions that it takes 30 minutes to cook the chicken. But it only took about 10 minutes (tops) - we even mentioned our surprise. +My wife got the wings/drumsticks combo, and understands why they're known for their chicken (I'll eat some for lunch today, as we took them home). +It's not like a romantic atmosphere or anything, but you could still take a date here (we were on a date night). +Music = I think it was K-pop. Don't get me wrong, I love korean style fried chicken and there are several good chicken place in NW suburb. It was Nothing like service problem... it is just not tasty at all 'signature' fried chicken . My wife and I ordered 2order of combo chicken. It was crispy and looks delicious but thats all. Taste greasy and sauce on chicken isn't enough and Can't taste any garlic flavor on 'garlic soy sauce' and spicy sauce isn't spicy enough and no flavor on sauce. When I placed the order Saturday night at 5:30pm; it stated online it would be ready in 15 minutes. I didnt want to rush, give ample time and went to the restaurant at 6pm. I knew something was off when only two tables had eat-in customers and two staff standing behind the counter on their phones watching K-dramas and/ or K-Pop. My order wasnt ready till I left at 6:30pm. My deduction are as follows: 1. Even though I already paid online; they didnt start to cook my food until I got there. 2. No free drink, appetizers or discount while I waited. 3. If they cant handle business with two eat-in customers; how can they handle customer at 50%+ capacity; it will be a tsunami waiting to happen. 4. Was the cook wearing numerous hats: cook, prep staff, dishwasher, janitor and more? 5. Bonchon Korean chicken was nothing to rave about or wait an addition 1/2 hour. 6. Made a mistake and will need to visit other Korean chicken restaurants in the surrounding area like BBQ Chicken and CM Korean Chicken or stand-by KFC, Popeyes and Brown. read more

My only complaint is not having flavored soju, but then I'd be visiting way too frequently... so maybe it's a good thing I like this location better than Glenview - better working hours and more spacious! Came here with my boyfriend to try it out. Service was great. I would say food is over priced, then again ... it's schaumburg! I ordered the bibimbap with bulgogi and the potstickers ($10.95 for 8? Too much). Pot stickers were delicious but i can find the same taste from other places for a better price. I wasn't a fan of the bibimbap, i asked for their garlic soy sauce as a side to put in my dish because i thought it would taste better and was told they couldn't offer that as a side.. i'm sure this place is more popular for their fried chicken, i regret not trying it out, but also not am not convinced on going back again. read more

Still love the chicken, but not the pork buns we tried this most recent visit. That's ok, because there's plenty of other things to try on the menu. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile And I'm glad I finally had the opportunity! I ordered the lunch special bulgogi tacos and japchae with bulgogi, and the soy garlic fried chicken sliders. Everything was amazing! I ordered a curbside for ease of driving back to the office and it was ready on time, fried chicken is still crispy, and everything is still hot. We have had this place on the "try" list for a while. We ordered dinner tonight. I was able to easily order from the website. I also could put that I wanted curbside pick up which was nice. Our order was 20 wings with soy garlic sauce, salad with ginger dressing and tacos. The tacos were a last minute add and I am so glad my HANGRY self added them! Amazing!!! I loved them! The salad was good too. The dressing was a little sweet to me for ginger dressing but it was good. Now, the chicken was fantastic!! I am not a huge fried chicken person but this was not your every day chicken. The combination of the chicken with sauce was unbelievable and I kept eating after I was full. Lunch menu prices and options looks fair, but the normal prices seemed high. I get this is fusion food so it's different but does it justify the prices? Well, I think you should try and decide for yourself. I tried the 5 PC's chicken thigh with spicy sauce and radish as the side while my friend tried the chicken Katsu dish. The fried chicken was tasty and the meat juicy. The spicy sauce was not spicy at all, but the spice lingers a little after the meal. The chicken breast was dry for the Katsu dish however the sauce was flavorful. Service was very attentive, so that's nice. The place filled up nicely at noon, even on s Sunday. Check it out for yourself, but non lunch prices were high, imo. One word: disappointing. Was very excited to see that a Bonchon was opening up outside of Chicago and closer to home for me. Unfortunately, this location did not live up to expectations. First off, I noticed that there was a stain on the napkins they had set out for us. We asked for aditional napkins but was met with much confusion and resistance originally. On top of that, the service was subpar. I was seated against the wall to my left with someone sitting to my right. When the waitress came she asked if I wanted another refill of my water to which I was 1) in the middle of eating and 2) kinda crammed against the wall and another person. She came up to me and I moved my glass closer to her without having to put down my spoon that I had JUST put in my mouth and she stood there awkwardly waiting for me to hand her my cup. If that wasn't bad enough, when she was refilling my aunts cup (who was sitting along the booth at the end of the table) she managed to spill water all of the table and her plate! She dropped a bunch of napkins on our table, shortly apologized, then skirmished away quickly. Seafood bibambap: Flavorless. We needed to order two additional sides of the spicy sauce for the bibambap so that there was some flavor to the dish. Compared to other places, we don't even need to use as much sauce, much less order extra. Additionally, my mom and I tasted something off in our dish. After picking through the dish we discovered that the zucchini used tasted old (if not expired -- gasp!) and the texture of them left much to be desired. We had to pick out the rest of the zucchini just to be able to stomach the rest of the dish. Half and half combo: I have been waiting to eat this dish again for a whole year. Little back story, I had Bonchon for the first time in Houston. There, we had drumsticks the size of our hands that were fried to a crisp and doused in sauce. Here, the drums and wings were the size of my pointer-finger -- and I have S M A L L hands... Additionally, the chicken was lacking in sauce. However disappointing, the sauces were still tasty as I remembered, however bad the chicken was. Side note: my cousin ordered the boneless chicken and I was intrigued that they were flat slabs of chicken, and not the usual tenders/nuggets. Seasoned fries: awful. Something about the fries made them smell like a dirty washrag. I couldn't even stomach them; I thought at first it was my hands for some odd reason, but then quickly linked it to the fries. One fry was enough for me to gag and stop eating. This location was a total let-down after much anticipation of getting to eat at Bonchon again. My mom was nowhere near thrilled about it and mentioned that she would never return again. The food was not worth the price at all and the service was not redeeming at all. Would recommend trying the Chinatown location instead; I've heard that that location is waaaayy better than this location. read more

Omg. Chicken wings are no bigger than my pinky. I just paid $14 for this. I have a feeling when they order their chicken wings they specifically asked for chickens that are under two weeks old. I didn't know chicken wings came that small. There were six of these tiny little things in my tiny little buckets for $14. There are so many other places that have incredible chicken wings that are so much bigger. I don't know what else they have here I came here because of the reviews that I saw here but I don't think anyone mention how tiny they were. So let me mention it now. Little tiny itsy bitsy pipsqueak sized chicken wing. Run with it. Maybe those other reviews were left by family and friends to get unsuspecting people to spend their hard-earned money here. I love Korean food and this modern take on traditional dishes was amazing. My co worker ordered the pork steamed buns and I ordered the spicy Tteok-bokki. Everything was delicious. The ambiance was some and chic. It was very comfortable and contributed to a great experience. The wait staff was friendly and quick to correct any issue we had. As mentioned we did have a couple of issues. We asked for lemon for our water and never received it and I found a hair in my Tteok-bokki but it was quickly removed and replaced with a fresh order. They were very friendly and apologetic. A lot of customers ordered the chicken which has me thinking I must try this next time. read more

Food is always good at Bonchon. So they get 1 star for food for me. My biggest pet peeve will always be poor customer service. We were seated immediately, which was great. Took almost 8-10 mins for our order to be taken. Typically, I would be understanding IF the restaurant was busy. There were 1 other table and us. Again, I would be understanding but both servers were by the bar... talking... gossiping. We got our order taken and food came out fast. Great. Then, we just never saw our waiter again lmao. Like we got 1 napkin per person and was not able to ask anyone else because no one was around! Can someone make this make sense? And my favorite part about all this, we got charged an 18% gratuity tip for someone doing NOTHING for us and is having to ask for EVERYTHING. Napkins? Us. Radish? Us. I wouldn't be upset IF we were not charged for their poor service but we were. The skin of the fried chicken was too hard, probably over fried or fried a couple of times. The meat of the chicken had no taste if you took off the skin. I have ordered from them a couple of times when I have a craving for Korean Fried Chicken. The Fried Chicken is very good, I like the chicken wings better than the drumsticks because the seasonings are mostly on the skin, batter and the sauce, but not the meat, you can definitely taste the blend taste of the thick drumstick meat. I have also tried their seasoned fries and zucchini fries, the fries are OK, but I would not recommend the zucchini fires, too much batter and not enough seasoning. I ordered the lunch special chicken fried rice and it was absolutely stellar, full of flavor, fresh and wasn't missing a thing except for maybe some spice but that's all based on preference, I got a side of Sriracha lol.
