The skin was indeed crispy and flavorful. The chicken was also tender. The sweet potato fries on the other hand were disappointing; they were soft and not crispy at all. For everything stated, I paid roughly $18. Final grading: -1 for price and -1 for sweet potato fries. A friend went to the Boston one and recommended going here. Unfortunately, the menu isn't the same so I wasn't able to try the dishes he suggested. You can order wings, drumsticks, a mix of wings and drumsticks, or white meat in either small (6pcs), med (10pcs), or large (20pcs). You also get a free side, but with the large order you get two. The sides they offer are coleslaw, kimchee coleslaw, biscuits, or rice. The fried chicken style they use is the kind where there is a thick crispy batter to them with the sauce brushed on. The sauces you can get are soy garlic or spicy soy garlic. The spicy garlic sauce has Tabasco in it, so if you can't handle spicy stuff, I wouldn't recommend ordering it. The waitress had told us that it tasted like the Thai Sweet Chilli sauce, but that wasn't right at all. So be forewarned! We ordered a large order of wings with half reg & half spicy and kimchee coleslaw and biscuits as sides. As I stated earlier, the spicy garlic was pretty spicy so we had to switch them out. We had to use the coleslaw to calm our palates down. The chicken came out hot and was tender and juicy. The way I like fried chicken, however, I actually don't prefer much batter so I didn't enjoy the chicken as much. The coleslaw wasn't tart nor was it runny which really surprised us since kimchee is typically pretty sour. There was also a side of pickled daikon which was refreshing. The biscuits unfortunately were quite dry (think overnight KFC biscuit). For an appetizer, we had also placed an order of zucchini fries which came with chipotle & ranch dipping sauce. They only have two flavors which is sort of a downside but it's so good, I don't even care. It was just all bad that we barely even put a hole in it. It came with cocktail sauce on the side. For the chicken we did half soy garlic and half spicy (the only two flavors they have). We had the mixed wings and drums. The drums were really big, but I'm more of a wings person. The skin was crispy but it was juicy and moist on the inside. The spicy flavor was way better than the regular soy garlic. For the sides we had the kimchi coleslaw and rice. They also give you a side of pickled daikon as well. The daikon was really good and the kimchi coleslaw was also delicious. The rice was a bit too mushy. For drinks we had a pitcher of strawberry yogurt soju. They made it a bit more strong than I am use to having at other Korean places but it was still good. Unless you are a really heavy drinker these drinks sure will creep up on you so be careful! It's good here, but the crunch didn't meet my standards. 99 chicken may be more expensive, but there's unlimited rice, bigger pieces, better crunch and I've never had bad service from the owners. Yes it's been years since I've had bon chon. I would totally give it five stars if the employees weren't rude, but it's probably because I was asking them for an extra bag and empty boxes.
