Dinner 10/23/2017 was awful. Six of us in the party and only one had a decent meal. I had crab cake appetizer and they were mushy and luke warm. Server took them back and front manager came to apologize. Second plate of crab cakes were warm but still mushy. Three others in our party had the special oyster entrée -- they were about the size of a large pea, cooked beyond recognition, and not even served as advertised on the menu. We are frequent diners as choices are limited in Ocala . Our last 3 visits over the last month have rendered frustration and disappointment .The cooking/preparation of the fish..salmon and steelhead troudt has been very erratic and overcooked.it seems like something has changed in the kitchen. What's even more problematic is that the expediter is not checking the plates of food that are leaving the kitchen. We have also noticed that it seems like the staff is overwhelmed when it becomes busy..wait times are longer and inconsistent food with improper prep and items being served cold make for unhappy diners. The Restaurant itself and food are both very good my problem is with their reservation policy, We made reservations 2 days in advance for 6:30pm and we arrived 10 minutes or so prior to the time, and checked in,after waiting for more than 20 minutes and seen other people come in and out we inquire about our reservation, only to be told by the seater at the door that there were 7 other families ahead of us, so we asked if they had reservations?. and were told that some did and others were walk-ins, which we took exception to because we had reservations! So in conclusion after talking we the manager we came to the conclusion that Bonefish just takes the reservation they just don't honor them like they should. What a shame! read more

Really delicious seafood. I'm so surprised that this is a chain, it feels more like a local bistro. The service was good, the food was delicious. We started with the PEI mussels Josephine and the bacon wrapped scallops with warm mango salsa. The mussels were out of this world. The bottom of the bowl was so full of flavor that we all sopped it up with bread after the mussels were gone. The scallops were slightly crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, the bacon was crisp and delicious, the mango salsa a perfect compliment. My husband had the lobster tails, which were very good, cooked perfectly with drawn butter. I had the chilean seabass with lemon butter, which I loved. The fish was so fresh and moist, perfectly flaking off into large, yummy slices. I thought that the lemon butter was delightful and the mixed vegetables were tender crisp and very fresh. My son had the Diablo Shrimp Fettuccine, which I did not try (I have a reaction to shrimp), but everyone else said it was delicious and my daughter had popcorn shrimp and french fries from the children's menu ($4.95 - you can't beat that!). The atmosphere is quite nice and we truly enjoyed our meal. read more

Sunday brunch at 12:15, not real busy but the hostess was occupied with a carry-out order. We had to wait a while with several other couples but finally seated. Seated at a table and again, a rather long wait to even give a drink order which was simple, water with lemons. Got the water, no lemons and we began an experience of waiting. Bread? Oh, it's in the oven, will be here soon. Took our order and the wait began again. "Bread?", let me check, it's baking. The Bang-Bang Shrimp came but how about the bread, "Let me check..." Again remember not many people in the restaurant so, why the wait? Perhaps issues in the back of the house, no one watching the line and seeing the basics are ready... bread being a staple at this restaurant. I ordered "Traditional Eggs Benedict". Again a rather long wait. The Traditional Eggs Benedict seems to come with either a thick slice of Canadian bacon or more likely ham. As for the English muffin I don't think it ever saw a toaster. It was chewed and undercooked but the egg?, Just right! In our experience this is the top Bonefish Grill we have visited and we are so pleased it is in our town. But today they were way off the mark. Perhaps second string managers (don't know as none stopped to ask if things were okay), maybe the kitchen was experiencing problems? Whatever the case we are hoping this was a one off experience. read more

Even though it is a chain, you still feel treated every time. Great fish dishes. Excellent place to go for a drink and unwind.

This is by far the worst Bonefish Grill I have had the pleasure to eat at. Lemonade out of a fountain because the bar tender was to tired to make the fresh squeezed. The food was tasteless, steamed asparagus that had no flavor, crab fried rice that was completely bland. At least the bread was edible. Definitely won't be dining at Bonefish again. What a shame that one location can screw it up for the rest. read more

in a nutshell, waiting area lovely outside, seating prompt, drinks ok, waiter over friendly almost intrusive and then absent when i needed a spoon and sugar for a very small irish coffee, then told me "we don't serve it that way" and brought a soup spoon. the cooled irish coffee was replaced with a hot one without problem. bang bang shrimp are a gooey mess. trout was nicely presented but bland, lemon needs to be asked for. side du jour an unfortunate culinary oops of chickpeas with small flecks of spinach and, yes, pieces of italian sausage. as a standalone maybe acceptable, but with fish???? desert of coconut custart was very good as was the bread with olive oil. wines are overpriced for what they are. the manager came over and was very apologetic for the no spoon and sugar incident and seemed open to our suggestion that the chickpeas may not complement the fish dishes, mentioning that he had heard that from other guests as well. he comped the desert and bang bang shrimp. very gracious but will not make us come back. they try hard and seem to be successful considering the crowd. it is just not for us. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Ocala if not my favorite. Been going for some years now. Affordable and the food is always good. I have tried high ended $$ restaurants in Ocala and have not enjoyed as much. The Chef's use of spices and flavors suits my taste. The staff are always friendly and personable. Today was my first time at Bonefish Grill, looked forward to great food.BUT we were seated at a table and then found out a party of 8 people and a few children for a 2 y/o B'day party were going to be seated RIGHT next to us....children crying and one person had a DOG in a cage on the floor next to her!!! It was very noisy, we should have asked to be seated elsewhere but we were already about to get our food...not convenient to move my sister w/her walker and another elderly lady. The Hostess should have told us about this party before we were seated and asked if we wanted to be seated elsewhere. Food was very delicious though. read more

Thank goodness for BFG! We don't have any good fish places here in town. Nor do we have any really good restaurants period ! They are consistent with service and terrific meals. It may not be super gourmet, but we'll take it especially when you look around and see what else Ocala has to offer. read more

The food is not bad, but the "to go" service is simply terrible. We have ordered "to go" several times - and they always get our order wrong, and it is never ready when promised. We have waited as long as 1.5 hours for our order, when they said it would be ready in 25 minutes. We either have missing items, or the wrong food items, or both - and often times, it is all cold. They normally forget to put in the bread, even though we ask for it specifically. So if you are ordering to go, it is a good practice to always check your bag before you walk out the door. Very frustrating to get all the way home, and realize they have made errors in packing. read more

The Bonefish Grill is my favorite restaurant in Ocala. I have eaten here hundreds of times and have never had anything but great experiences. The fish is excellent and never over cooked. I love the Pork Chop Marseille and the Kobe Burgers are really good. Last time I tried the Macaroni and cheese Truffle. Wow delicious. The appetizers and dessert are delicious and original. My friend had the Key Lime Pie and thought it was the best he ever had and he grew up in Florida. My wife loves the Coconut Cream Pie with Rum Sauce. I had the Flourless Brownie with Raspberry Sauce and Ice cream. We also had the Bacon Wrapped Scallops as an appetizer. They were superb. Salad with house dressing is great, served with heart of Palm and house dressing. Our server Nan was very attentive and genuinely friendly. Always ask for your favorite server they are happy to accommodate. Reservations are helpful as they are always packed. I had brunch here a week ago and loved the Creme Brûlée French Toast with Applewood Bacon and all you can drink champagne. Great value for your money but definitely a fine dining experience. read more

This is our first visit to this Bonefish, my husband loved his pork chop, which is one of the best things they do, it appears. He loved his dinner. We got the bang bang shrimp but changed the usual sauce for an Asian sauce that was less spicy, as I don't do well with spices. I ordered the Caribbean Mahi with shrimp on top, which was a disaster and ruined my dinner, although the wedge salad was good, but could use a little more blue cheese crumbles. The fried rice with crab which was an upcharge was not worth the upcharge, and I would not get it again. I had made several comments regarding not being able to do spicy food, and I was not expecting a big mouthful of very spicy seasoning from my Mahi Mahi. You couldn't even taste the fish. The "pineapple" it was on, was nothing but a small strip of pineapple. No one asked to change my meal or have it redone without the spice, and I took note of that, not what I would expect from Bonefish. All and all it was not the enjoyable night out I was expecting, I get better service at Outback... and better food. read more
