This place was packed at 4 o'clock, and then I realized they open at 3 PM. We ordered the kids mac & cheese with different sides like corn, applesauce or fries. My wife and I got a happy hour esque meal of a 6 ounce steak with two sides. And I know everyone already knows about the bread, it was delicious and unlimited. This review is not really about the food or the prices. This review is for a server named Reese. This guy went out of his way to make sure that my kids were happy and he was happy the entire time. Super genuine, we had made a comment about being teachers, and I felt like he went out of his way to make sure we had the best time possible. We usually love going to get a great steak. My mom was having a craving so we thought we would go in. Our server was amazing but our table location was not ideal. Right behind us there were hosts and bussers congregating. They were talking pretty loudly. For over 30 minutes we put up with it but it was really bothering my mom. No manager had come by so my husband turned around. He told them they were being really loud and we could hear all of their conversations. He didn't raise his voice or yell. The kids started laughing and smirking. My husband told the kid to wipe the smirk off his face and the kids started laughing and arguing with my husband. We called a manager over. Gary was awesome. Took them back and talked to them instantly. Super professional and apologized to us. Then the manager Cori came out. Thats where it went even worse. She said she wanted to get our side of what happened because the kids said that we were yelling at them and that my husband said he would wipe the smirk off the kids face. Neither of those happened. She continued to make excuses for the kids and how they responded to us. They are only 16 and they need more coaching. Not a sincere apology or that their behavior was unacceptable. I have worked in restaurants for over 20 years. I have had guests scream and yell at me and I have never responded to a guest the way those kids did. I have had great managers that handles the situations professionally and apologized for my behavior even if I wasn't in the wrong. This was not that. The manager made us feel like we were in the wrong for her disrespectful employees. No true apology just excuses for why they acted the way they did. We started with the rolls of course and then got a cactus bloom for an appetizer. Very greasy but tasty! Entrees were mid but came out fast and with friendly service. I like steak, they deliver a delicious filet every single time. They are quick with friendly service. I always feel welcome. I remember when this Texas Roadhouse location opened. My family often went. However, since moving away from South Reno, I hadn't visited in years. Glad we stopped in! My family visited during Thanksgiving week for a very early dinner, 3 PM is when they open on weekdays. It was packed! Luckily, there was still no wait for a table, and we were seated and greeted right away. Texas Roadhouse knows how to keep its customers happy. Free bread and butter and a bag of complimentary peanuts at every table. Who can be mad about that? One perk of having the earliest dinner ever is that the roadhouse offers an early bird menu where many classic menu items are on discount. We ordered a kids' burger meal, the fried pickles, and two 6-oz. sirloin meals. The whole bill was only $50! The portions, like the restaurant, are huge! My house salad was almost big enough to be a dinner salad, and the fried pickles were plentiful and super crispy. Perfectly battered and served with awesome house-made ranch. The kids' burgers were a perfect portion for two light eaters to share. It's a small beef patty with cheese served on one of their freshly baked rolls, but you get two of them and a side of fries. Yum! The steaks were tender, but they were probably under 6oz. The weight is likely a pre-cooked weight. The sides were good, but nothing out of this world. First time at the Reno location on a Saturday night and wow was it packed. Makes sense since the service is amazing and the food portion is worth it. We even got can holders since it was our first time! My partner and I had the porter house T-Bone steak and it was cooked to a perfect medium. You can ask for the gravy and onions on the side (which we did) and definitely complemented the steak perfectly. It was definitely salty with all the additional sauces so pick and choose with that in mind. Along with the blooming onion, salad and corn sides, unlimited pandesal style bread, seasoned rice and margarita, we left waddling cause we were so full. Decided to go to Texas Roadhouse for the hubs birthday. We were not disappointed. Portions are more than generous, servers are the friendliest, and the food is top notch. Love the hot rolls with honey butter that arrive at your table with you. We started off with the onion blossom, and it was crunchy good. Their salads are extraordinary in that they are not just lettuce and tomatoes, but include hard boiled egg, cheese, croutons, and a rich homemade ranch dressing that's so thick and creamy you'll want to eat it with a spoon! I ordered the prime rib with a sweet potato. My prime rib filled half the plate, and it was tender, juicy, and delicious. My sweet potato was cooked perfectly, and I added butter and brown sugar. The hubs had chicken fried sirloin with steak fries. He especially enjoyed the smothering of country gravy. Kids meals were 2 sliders and applesauce. Perfect meal for them. I will say, this is not the place for a quiet, dining experience because it is very noisy, but that's part of the charm. Texas Roadhouse is the prime example of how participating businesses should treat our Veterans on Veterans Day. They give out a Voucher for a free meal, but the extra touch is what stands out. The entrance was decorated with Red, White and Blue Fan Flags and Ballons and staff were at the entrance greeting Veterans and thanking them for their service, as they issued the Vouchers. They also had them sign some boards that they would be displaying. Honestly, we came with a gift card and not the highest of expectations. But I can confidently and honestly say, this was quite an enjoyable meal. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive the entire time, and the place has some fun decor to look around it while you are waiting. Most chain restaurants in Reno just do not out out quality food, so I try to usually stick to local businesses and the Midtown area. My whole group was surprised. Nothing fried came out burnt, everything tasted totally fresh and the steaks were COMPLETELY ON POINT. Since it is extremely difficult for my mother to navigate the narrow walkways and tight seating areas, I've been ordering take-out meals for the family. The past two orders have been less than satisfactory. Last week, the herbed chicken breast was burnt and overcooked. This week, the baked potato was inedible. It looked and tasted like a reheated potato. Since it's take-out, I'm unaware of the food issues until I get home and by then, I'm not driving back to the restaurant. The food, is acceptable. I have had some great menu items, and some average. But, I have not been disappointed by their offering's. Before it came from the kitchen, it would have been perfect! But then they let those ribs sit under the broiler/salamander/hot plate for 15 minutes and let them be burn to a char! The server was good. She did everything right, but it was difficult to hear her because the ambient noise and music was so loud, I couldn't even hear my date sitting across from me at a two top. It was super packed and chaotic when we got there, and the hostess seemed to be very annoyed with assisting those of us waiting to put in our names. They have a variety of steaks, ribs, chicken, seafood, hamburgers, and a kids' menu. My family's favorite appetizer is the cactus blossom with extra sauce. The steaks are large. Not to mention, the family-size takeout items are a great price. My favorite is the roadkill steak. It is simply scrumptious, topped with grilled onions, mushrooms, and cheese. The blooming onion was alright, little soggy and not fried as well as would've liked. The service as always is great and quick and attentive. The waitlist was very infuriating process. We used it and arrived 50 minutes after the waitlist suggested. It does not work like a reservation, it just gives you an estimate time to arrive, you still may wait once you arrive. However the part that was most upsetting was the host, she was very rude and we felt like she never cared to give us an accurate estimate time for us to sit down. We checked three different times and always heard 5 to 10 minutes in a span of 30 minutes. On the plus side. our server was very sweet, kind and attentive, she heard we had a bad start to our visit and brought the manager to talk to us about our experience thus far. I had dinner here last week and for the first time in a long time, I was disappointed with service and first time ever with my food. Our service was not even two stars. I worked in the service industry for years and understand that we have bad days, but our server was short and didn't check back. We watched her serve the two tables who were seated after us their drinks and appetizers before we got water and my margarita. We asked her to start a cactus blossom and she told us that she had other tables to grab drinks for. (Unacceptable from a service stand point). I can accept a lot because I understand it's not always easy to deal with people. This restaurant being the only one in town is slammed busy from opening until closing. It wouldn't have killed our server to push the button to start our appetizer. When we finally received our cactus blossom and we had raw batter. I ordered a 6 oz sirloin and shrimp it was well done although I asked for MR. It was also closer to 5 oz than a 6 oz steak. My guess was a 4.5 oz at best. We ate our salads and pushed aside our raw cactus blossom then she came by. I still hadn't received my margarita, I almost canceled it because it took so long to get to the table. We received our dinner after the two tables behind us that she actually did her job well with. The couple next to us who was seated 10 minutes before us was served after us. They didn't order other courses. I'm not sure how they weren't upset. The service was horrible and my over cooked steak was barely edible. We watched the restaurant fill up and it got louder. I'm super bummed about this experience and asking for your team to keep up with the restroom checks. There's only 3 stalls and one was out of service. I'm not sure how they are filled to capacity everyday and they only have two functioning toilets in the woman's restroom. The line to get in for a table is just as long for the restroom. It's sad that this is the standard of service here. I can't say I'll be running back here soon to pay to be neglected by servers like the one we had last week.
