My co-worker told me about the tossed salads that this place served at lunch, and when I heard the prices, I was like no way! I went early, and fortunately, there wasn't a long line yet (which I heard is quite normal on weekdays during lunch). I was rushed through the salad line by those pushing from behind and the chef salads eager to get the line moving, but despite the unpleasant line experience, I was rewarded at the end with a tasty salad! What's great is that the price includes two protein options and all the veggies you could ask for. Score! This is my go-to spot for lunch during the workweek. It's usually a mad house from 1130-100, but slows down a bit after that. They have huge, tasty sandwiches, and an expansive salad bar that often pushes the line out the door... it moves quickly though. Prices are affordable ($6.50 - 9.00 for most lunch items), and if you save your receipt and return within three business days, you'll get $1 off. Service is quick and the ladies who take your order are cute and typically friendly. Despite the chaos around lunchtime, they've only messed up my order once, and it was quickly corrected in time to sit down for a nice lunch with friends. Wow, I didn't know something this wonderful existed in Boston. Anyways, this place is divided into three sections... LEFT: You point to what you want on your salad, choose your salad dressing, and the cute girl will mix it all up and bam! You have a salad all mixed up with your choice of dressing. Downside, when you point to something (for example, walnuts), you sometimes literally get half a walnut sometimes. MIDDLE: The middle has a menu overhead of salads and sandwiches. A few months ago I would have given this place 4 stars, but the tandoori chicken shish kebab wrap has decreased in value. Did someone leave? Is the sauce watered-down? Why is the wrap unraveling as I bite into it? Very disappointing. It's still good, but not as flavorful as it once was. I don't think I'll be spending close to $8 bucks for it anymore. The falafel wrap is vegetarian and is my new fave. There's still that problem with it breaking to pieces, but it's less expensive than other wraps on the menu. The salad bar is definitely intimidating, especially if you're a first timer. I like how there are so many options and they don't fuss if you choose more than 2 proteins. Love this place!! I make the trip here at least once a week to get lunch and just recommended it for an office catered event as well. If you are into healthy food options and something with a lot of variety in your meal, than this is a great option. They offer wraps, salads and mixed plates for lunch, and all at a pretty reasonable price. The line does go out the door during a typical work week, so try to aim for off hours (before noon or after 1:15) if you are in a rush. There are tables downstairs from the main floor for in-house dining and for the most part, the service has been pretty good. Would recommend also looking at a menu before you go. When you arrive, it can be pretty overwhelming if you are not familiar with Mediterranean food. For first timers, I would recommend the Steak, Chicken or Lamb Kabob plates or the wraps. If you have any allergies, also be careful to look up the ingredients to the food! Had a friend who has a dairy allergy and he almost ate the tzatziki sauce (yogurt sauce). There is a build your own salad spot, sandwich spot, and also a by the pound buffet OR you can order from their menu. I got the swordfish (friday special). I usually do not eat an entire wrap but I couldnt stop eating because the flavors and textures were so good. I also ordered the rice pudding for dessert. Though tasty it could have used alot more rice in the recipe as it was more like pudding with rice sprinkled in. In the corporate land known as Post Office Square, filled with overstuffed suits and financial types, it's hard to find a place to eat that is not so utterly mainstream it makes your teeth hurt. My first day here, I walked right around the corner from my office and found the Boston Kebab House. I then ate there every single day for the rest of that week. Why? Everything I ate was so good and homey and flavourful and better than anything I could produce...maybe ever Lentil Soup - not too oily, fragrant, and HOT (not spicy - heat hot) The Meze bar is unbelievable - falafel, sauteed spinach, collard greens, bean salads, hummous, each with its own delicate flavour nuances. The cilantro in the black beans really stands out, the spinach pie is garlicky and almost sweet - different to spanikopita, but tasty in its own way (no filo pastry, for a start) On top of that, the restaurant offers kebabs, generous sandwiches, plates, wraps, salads (totally reasonably priced) and some traditional desserts. Plus, each receipt has a $1 off coupon on the bottom, meaning ya gotta pay attention and the savings mean I get lunch for $3 sometimes. Totally brilliant place. read more

I had the tandoori chicken kebab wrap today for lunch and it was fantastic! The portion size was just right--not too much, not too little. The vegetables were fresh and crisp, the chicken was well-seasoned and not dry like a lot of tandoori chicken I've had. I had them substitute the yogurt sauce for the regular option, and it went very well with the tandoori spice! I spent months looking for really good chicken kebabs downtown before coming across Boston Kebab House. They have the best chicken kebabs downtown, period. If I am even remotely close to this place at lunchtime, I will go out of my way to get there. My favorite is a greek salad with chicken kabobs. It's my favorite Mediterranean restaurant in Boston. Don't get fooled by its deli appearance. It serves top quality Mediterranean food, especially vegetarian dishes (can't say much about it meat dishes since I am mostly a vegetarian). It's Meze bar offers the widest selection of quality dishes I have seen anywhere. Each of the dish is carefully prepared with ultimate taste. The price is very reasonable. I would certainly recommend going there early to avoid the lunch crowed. I am sure you will fall in love with it. The only con that I can think of is how it prices the Meze bar. It's $6.99 per pound, but if you have 1 lb 2 oz, they will charge you the maximum ($9.95). There is no scale available except when you pay, so it's always a bit tricky whether getting that extra Falafel and end up paying $3 more for a single Falafel... When I need a great salad full of veggies and deliciousness I come here. This is a really popular lunch spot in the financial district so the line is always around the corner. Make sure to come early!! The salad tosser (I believe his name is Jefferson) always brightens my day with his friendly attitude. They have so many different dressings and toppings, it's unbelievable. I eat lunch here fairly often. The great deals here are the salad bar and the meze bar. The salad bar is easily the best value salad in the area. The meze bar always has a great selection of vegetarian dishes, though the few meat dishes they serve are hit-and-miss (the chicken dishes are usually pretty good). The kabob plates are a good deal if you're hungry for a large helping of meat and generous side portions. The best meat to get is probably the doner kebab. You can pick your two side dishes for the plates, though they often forget that you customized your sides and serve the default (shepherd's salad and something else). read more

Looked like a good place but their service is horrible ... today for lunch we had a pick up order and they "forgot" to put 2 orders but charged us for it- our mistake we dint check it before but when we called to inform - they weren't very pleasant. Also - I don't eat Beef TOTALLY and despite asking for a chicken dish - they gave me beef and labelled it as Chicken. Personally, I will not visit this place again - even if the food is good. I found myself downtown today in visiting the Commonwealth Book Store, and finally got to try this place. When I got there at 1pm, the line for the sandwich bar led down the stairs, out the door, and a few yards down the block. What can be more promising? All the promise was fulfilled. The meze bar is a great bargain. You load up a styrofoam tray and pay by weight. I had a very filling lunch of pilaf, döner kebab (good quality beef), sautéed spinach with pine nuts (very light and not greasy), green beans in tomato sauce, artichoke fritters, and zucchini fritters, all for under $9. There is an extremely wide variety of dishes on offer, both meat and vegetarian. Don't worry about not finding any dishes you like--the problem is rather choosing which of favorites you want to eat that day, since there are too many to eat at once. Don't miss out on this bargain lunch spot. Financial district drones are lucky to have this very tasty and wholesome food every day. I wish there was the equivalent in Harvard Square, where I live and work... One cavil--I wish the fritters had been kept warm. Maybe under a heat lamp, if the steam tray makes them soggy? I work around the corner from this place and it is a solid lunch option. The mezz bar is pretty good, lots of different knids of salads, ranging from chickpeas to tabouli to just regular old spinach. They also have hummus on the cold end. On the Hot end of the bar there are usually falafel rolls as well as chicken and a beef dish. The food is pretty good, obviously not the best middle eastern food I have tried but it is still decent. I think the convenience and variety really help put this place over the top. Additionally, they offer sandwiches and plates which are generally pretty filling and taste good too. I was a little upset with their "hot sauce" which I found to be relatively sweet. Overall, decent food with quick service. A great lunch place where you can get a filling meal in for around $10. A good choice for anyone who is working in the state street area. read more

First time eating here and I'm impressed! I found this through the Ritual app as I was looking to try something new for lunch and was able to get a $2.50 reward from here off of a build your own salad. It was HUGE (I've only finished about half and have to save the rest for this afternoon!)- avocado and an egg plus unlimited veggies including falafel, and I only paid $6.75 with the reward. I would gladly pay full price for it too as it's still a great deal. Picture Sweetgreen but a few dollars cheaper, bigger, and with unlimited toppings and pita bread. Everything was fresh and delicious, but the only reason I docked a star was that 3 toppings I ordered- baby corn, eggplant, and green beans- were left off which was disappointing. This is another eatery near Post Office Square in Boston's Financial District. It has a nice seating area and is buzzing with activity during lunchtime. Patrons get a dollar-off coupon for each visit. Not a bad strategy. I was there a couple of times in the last couple of weeks. Its decor was like any other typical Middle-eastern restaurant. I tried the Chicken Kabob with Basil sauce. I had mine with Turkish bread. The portion was good and the taste was good, with the subtle taste of Basil The second time I tried the Buffalo Chicken with Pita bread and it was good too. Worth the visit is my verdict. Everything was correct, on time, and delicious. I even turned in 2 additional orders the morning of delivery and they were able to accommodate me. Everything was labeled with each individual's name. I admit I'm still feeling my way through mid-eastern cuisine, especially Indian food...but I'm getting there. The salads here are pretty good and not nearly as expensive as Sebastians, but if I'm in the mood for a large custom salad, I'll still go to Sebastians. The lamb kebab was delicious and the overall plate was very good. I enjoyed the rice and cucumber/tomato salad. I would probably prefer a lettuce salad, but it was still very good. So, I'd been meaning to write a review of this place for a while. I went (past tense intended) here on occasion (I'll get back to that) and the food is usually tasty (particularly the various chicken kebabs) and rather plentiful- though a bit pricey in my opinion. If I had written this review a week ago it would have been a 3.5 star experience and I'm on the fence as to which way I'd have fallen on the rounding spectrum. That was a week ago, this is today. You see, as I mentioned earlier, I went here on occasion, but in reality the last 3 or so times including today's visit were because I was given a frequent diner's card a couple of months ago and after your tenth lunch you get one free. After #7 I became a little more determined to get my free lunch; paging Elaine Benes. Well today was my tenth and final stamp and I actually decided over other restaurants to come here to seal the deal. I show up, order, pay and then present my card. "I'm sorry sir, we stopped that promotion." I say, "Seriously?" trying to hide the tumult of emotion coursing through me at this moment: panic, fear, rage, hunger. "Yes, last Friday;" So I coolly ask "So my card and all the stamps are no longer accepted?" "Correct sir, sorry." Customer service etiquette would probably be to honor whose ever cards were still out there, but no longer offer new ones to customers. You've lost potentially hundreds of my dollars over the next several months over an $8.91 lunch. I get back to my office and grumpily eat my food, still bitter over that exchange. Then when I dip my falafel in the chili sauce they provide if asked and take a bite something happens...my grumpiness escalates once again. They've given me ketchup?? Okay, Paul M., keep it cool just use the wheat pita or something....oh....my.....God....the pita is so stale they could crumble it and call it pita chips. What happened BKH?!?!? Seriously??! I use to like you and now I will NEVER be back. I'm only not giving one star because I still think your kebabs are good but what the Hell happened?? I'll be visiting The King for all of my kebab and falafel needs going forward. Oh and by the way, why does the dining area in the basement always smell like a noxious mix of formaldehyde and ammonia? Kebab house, I hate you right now. I just had a veggie burger and fries from you, and I'm sitting at my desk, feeling way more stuffed than I should be, and I still have this massive pile of fries left. And they're so freaking good. They're crispy, with this battery coat of crunchy goodness around the nice, perfectly cooked middle. Seriously. You're killing me. I really want to eat this huge pile of fries, but if I don't want the buttons to burst off my clothing, I need to not eat it. Grrrrrr. I hate to say this, but this is going to be one heck of a challenge. I'm afraid that if I toss out the rest of these fries, I will resort to rummaging through my bin to get them out in an hour or two. If only this weren't a typical Kebab House experience. I hate to admit how often I end up eating here for lunch, but you guys have everything. A super cheap salad station with all sorts of toppings, and probably the best falafel balls in Boston. Sandwiches. Kebabs. Soup. Burgers. Wraps. And the meze bar. When I'm in a hurry, I grab the meze bar and pile it with ridiculously good food. While I typically go for one of your huge, delicious salads. Today, I opted for the veggie burger, which I'm thankful to say is pretty darn delicious. The bread is noms-y (grilled, tasty bread, with just the right amount of crunch and give), the veggie burger was cooked crispy on the outside, just soft enough on the inside. It came with chopped up tomatoes, lettuce, and a pickle (and mayo, which I skipped), and it was a good, but messy lunch option that (unlike some other veggie burgers) did not feel like a lead weight in my stomach post-lunch. The fries came with a convenient package of ketchup (they have ketchup packets you can grab, but they include ketchup in a container so you can easily dip your fries into the ketchup). Oh, and they're cheap. My soda + veggie burger + fries came in at under $8. (Their burgers and chicken burgers are priced the same way.) And I am so, so, so very stuffed. Which leaves us back at the fries. Darn tasty, those things. They're currently fogging up the plastic take-away container, reminding me that they're still warm and crispy. On the rare occasion I am feeling dietetically virtuous and want a salad for lunch I am generally forced to pick between the two evils of Sebasturds and the Rebecca's Café at 1 Financial. The 'turd's tossed salad sucks because they nickel and dime you for the luxury of having their dried-up tasteless chicken added to your salad and Rebecca's Café sucks because the chicken is sketchy and the selections are pretty lame. As a result i started searching for a good downtown lunch spot that does salads and luckily came across Boston Kebab House. I generally don't have cause to wander that far inland so I unfortunately never heard of this little oasis until now but I promise you- unless your craving pho or something, this place is everything you have ever wanted in lunch spot and more. BUT it is crowded and you know when you have never been to a busy food place before and you get overwhelmed and you don't know how to pick much less convey what you want? That's sort of what can happen here so read up and check out their website before going. You walk in and to your left is the line for the tossed salad. You pay upfront they give you a paper bag and then you tell the guy what kind of lettuce you want and then what other crap you want in there. they have A LOT of good choices and you don't have to pay extra for chicken or artichoke hearts and they even have avocado. The grilled chicken was tender and well seasoned and all the veggies were really fresh and crisp. My only complaint was that they don't put enough of the veggies and chicken in. They give way too much lettuce not leaving room for the good bits so next time I would definitely try and order differently so they put in enough of the stuff I want. not a big deal over all though. Surprisingly the most delicious thing in the salad was the sautéed spinach and zucchini. Good homemade salad dressing choices that are light and not overwhelming but again they don't put much in so watch out and make sure you ask for more if you think you'll need. The rest of the place is for hot foods and sandwiches. Since I was trying to be healthy (boring) I didn't get to taste their kebabs and stuff but I could see the choices in the self serve Meze Bar and naturally i had salad buyers remorse bigtime when I spotted those little artichoke and zucchini fritters. They have a lot of options and everything looks delicious so its hard to know where to start but there is a huge menu board inside that's easy to read listing all the choices and how to how to order so its pretty easy to figure out the drill. Overall I think everything tasted fresh homemade and was reasonability priced. Tip: if it's nice outside forego the madding post office square crowds and walk a few blocks east to find a sunny spot overlooking the waterfront. read more
